Pamela Coleman-Smith’s artful rendition of The Fool in the Rider-Waite Tarot deck is often used to represent Tarot in general. Early classical versions of The Fool card, however, portray quite a different character — a person driven by base needs and urges, who has fallen into a state of poverty and deprivation.
In some earlier instances, The Fool is made out to be a carnival entertainer or a huckster. In others, he is portrayed as decrepit and vulnerable — as the cumulative result of his delusions and failures. Not until the 20th century do you see the popular Rider-Waite image of The Fool arise — that of an innocent soul before its fall into matter, untainted by contact with society and all its ills.
Modern decks usually borrow from the Rider-Waite imagery. Most Fool cards copy the bucolic mountainside scene, the butterfly, and the potential misplaced step that will send The Fool tumbling into the unknown. Hello friends. Welcome to the Spring (Fall) Equinox, the second Eclipse (partial Lunar) of the month and the Full Moon in Libra. This is one of the great “power portals” of the year in the Cosmic Weather and this year that designation has gone up a notch. How so? Well we opened up the season with the New Moon in Pisces, along with four other planets at that time which ushered in some MAJOR healing and transcendent energy. We are still feeling the effects of three planets and Chiron in Pisces making a contact to the South Node. This is all about where we’ve been more than where we’re going, but in this case the two can be intertwined as a new path emerges.
Eclipses placed in between the Equinox open a powerful gateway of energy. I comment on this every year, but this time what’s coming up for review is especially important. We are in a “9” Universal Year of endings and generally wrapping things up cosmically and karmically. As we step through this portal gateway, we want to be traveling lighter, being especially mindful of the messages and insights that arise. That’s what the energies of February and earlier this month have been about; showing us areas that are up for healing, draining our energies or that we have simply outgrown. It is mind that may attribute drama or suffering to these endings, but we know better on a soul level that all is well, despite outer appearances. As we approach a whole new cycle (“1”) beginning in 2017, what is coming up may seem daunting or even frightening, but the Universe is really quite wise. We have a golden opportunity this year through these portals to shed what has run its course in our lives and to step into higher levels of personal awareness and empowerment. All that is unlike love has been bubbling to the service, both personally and collectively. This is not easy by any means but for the moment anyway, it is necessary. It is also helpful to be mindful that we are at different places on our path and they are all valid. For those newly awakened may seek the support of those who recognize the signposts. It will continue to be important to practice unity consciousness whenever we can and hold the door open for others, so to speak.
The interesting thing about Chiron “the wounded healer” being so highlighted these days, is it brings the opportunity to turn our wounds into strength. It is not about denying where we’ve been and what we have experienced, but assimilating the higher teachings that have come from it. Pisces *allows* us to simply BE without so much analysis and comparison to others, which in itself can be profoundly healing. Some of these wounds are ancient and deep, going all the way to childhood or even before. With Pisces being a karmic sign, there is the possibility that samskaras or impressions have arisen. Though clearing work at deep levels is usually not comfortable or easy, it is helpful to know that our personal work benefits the all. Let us offer up both our wounds and the healing balm that emerges from them. This is one way that we contribute to the transformation of the world.
Cosmically, the planet has been hit off and on with powerful energetic downloads that began at the New Moon on March 8th, and they have continued. I have been hearing reports from many people that they have been experiencing great fluxes of energy, big changes and in some cases, chaos. Keep the faith dear ones. The Full Moon in Libra on 3/23 is accompanied by a partial Lunar Eclipse. Eclipses during Full Moon are interesting as we’ve got the Full Light of the Moon being obscured or eclipsed. This causes the full power of the lunation to be turned more inward for a short period of time. The classical associations with Libra are: balance, harmony, sociability and beauty. The shadow being: indecisiveness, disharmony, superficiality or imbalance.
There is always an interesting juxtaposition between the self-centeredness of Aries (“I AM”) and the other-focused energy of Libra who’s keyword is “I balance.” Keeping in mind two important things about Aries: I AM is way up there with the most powerful things that we can say regarding setting our intention and creating it in outer reality. Also, that Aries in its higher aspect is the sign of the Spiritual Warrior. With these two energies present, we can call our own inner courage to the fore to further support harmony and beauty on our path.

3/23 ~ Jupiter (Truth) ~square~ Saturn (Purpose): (2 of 3: 8.3.2015 ~ 3.23.2016 ~ 5.26.2016)
For this activation, I’d like to start by saying: when you change, everything (and everyone) around you must change or go away. It is the natural law. This means adjustments are going to have to be made around your belief system and your reality. Are they congruent? Are you living your Truth? Do you know your true Purpose (at this time)? While this may not be an easy one, it is a good one! Think of your Life Path since 2000, with special attention to 2005, 2010, now/2015 and it culminates in 2020. It’s a great time to really meditate on how you’d like your life to be a reflection of your Truth & Purpose. These two activate the Expand/Consolidate process within but in this case, it is not an either/or, you must do both, but in very different Areas of Life (Houses of Leo/Scorpio in this case). Often, sacrifices must be made in the name of ‘progress’, in this case YOURS. The blessing of this activation is that, if you’re solid on your Truth & Purpose, you can gain some real traction with your professional or educational goals. Jupiter always brings expansion, so whatever you’re doing or creating at this time can have long-term results, so be patient when you’re feeling restless or limited. Pause. Pray. Then Proceed. There is always disruption during growth spurts, and sacrifices will be made but not in a careless or destructive way. At least, that is the goal ; -) This activation challenges you to align what you believe is possible for you with the reality you’re living.
3/23 ~ Mercury (expression) ~conjunct~ Sun (core-Self):
This energy will compel you to express yourself on many levels. Communication will be a focus, just make sure it is reciprocated. You will have access to some powerful energy that can (and probably will) make quite an impression on others (if you need to). This is a good time to travel if possible too. However, if not physically, then mentally and certainly within your own area, you will take in more information per square inch than usual. Pay attention! You may even gain the much-deserved recognition from others that you have worked so hard for.
3/24 ~ Mercury (your voice) ~trine~ Mars (your actions):
This is a great alignment of your Thoughts & Actions. Clarity is effortless and you can follow your instincts. Be mindful of the Element too ~ in this case (3.24.2016), FIRE ~ this is your creative spark or impulse to create, move, choose. Fire brings cleansing & transformation and a fresh new beginning. It is a great energy which gives you the courage to think things through and it activates your ability for strategic problem-solving if/when necessary. You will have direct access your authentic, inner voice so if you need/want an expressive outlet, you will likely find one. It’s also a great energy for small gatherings for spiritual, creative and/or intellectual exchange. Enjoy it! Just keep in mind your own Elemental Balance as well and how you naturally work with Fire in your life.
3/24 ~ Venus (love, art & beauty) ~oppose~ Jupiter (expansion):
This is a great energy for enjoying nature, really good food & drink, fun company and lots of laughter! This is a celebration type of energy, to be enjoyed but not to excess or to the neglect of your health or well-being. It’s very creative and activates the true Inner Artist within all of us. It’s also good to consider that you are at a MidPoint in a relationship or creative project that you started about 6-months ago; is it still viable? is the Story you’re telling still true? where’s the value? is it worth it? So whether you are an artist or not, this activation can facilitate an infinitely creative mood, and expand your work immensely. Activate your imagination, think big, have fun & laugh today, but tomorrow, plan to start moving in a new direction that is more authentic for you personally.
3/25 ~ Venus (values) ~square~ Saturn (foundation):
This energy can make you feel cool & detached with loved ones. It is time to ‘take stock’ of your relationships and really evaluate the level of balance between giving & receiving. Business or personal – relationships must have a balance of give & take. You may feel more aware of your true independence in life and start reevaluating the need for certain relationships in your life. This energy pushes you to dig for your own fortitude & determination to live according to your own values & priorities and corrections or adjustments may be necessary and fairly obvious at this time. You may feel lonely, depressed or disconnected but it’s just the Universe forcing you to question or assess your current relationships, how you interact with others and how you allow them to interact with you. It’s good to periodically evaluate even the strongest relationship and check the foundation. Don’t give in to (ego-based) fears, focusing on the lack & limitation or what is not working, but instead build on your strengths and honor the goodness you’ve created together, as well as in your Self. This is the best time to be alone and reflective because the insights you acquire through this process will help you in the future.
*NOTE* I have to mention here that Venus contacting both Jupiter & Saturn a day apart is a potent alignment for positive change. It may not always be comfortable or fun, but the changes you implement this year will go a long way toward supporting your true values & priorities. As that happens, your life will better resemble something you created with your own heart & two hands. This is a time to set intentions around cultivating your life like a living Garden that feeds, sustains & protects you but also yields beauty, magic & joy that only comes from interacting with the natural world, in natural ways for you.
3/26 ~ Sun (core identity) ~trine~ Mars (desire):
This is a powerful energy for solidifying who you are, what you want and what you are capable of. It brings out your desire to be truly self-sustained & independent, and with the good angle between Sun & Mars, you are deeply supported for forward movement that feels almost effortless when you are grounded and aligned with your own Truth & Purpose. If you are not clear about who you are or what your purpose is, this energy will inspire you to find out. If you are already on track and crystal clear, then this energy strongly supports progress & evolution to the next level in obvious ways. It is a great time for physical activities that bring you joy and get your juices flowing. You should review, with gratitude, all the goals you’ve accomplished thus far and begin deciding what you can finish up in preparation for what’s coming. You are truly being prepared for your future, use this great energy to ground that intent consciously and with a vote from your Heart & Soul.
This energy deepens all emotions and strengthens bonds & attachments. Friendships & love relationships become much deeper and, sometimes more intense, not to mention any physical (sexual) experience. Being fake or superficial is never possible when Pluto is involved, and because Venus is involved, we’re talking relationships or how you relate in general, so if you are needing to dig a little deeper with someone, you are supported. This energy can facilitate positive transformation in your relationships, partnerships or collaborations. It will give you added power to help you change what needs changing or at least get it on the table for deeper discussion or a clearing conversation. Your emotional intensity may be at an unusually high level, so be sure to surround yourself with people who love you unconditionally or try to be alone and just reflect on what you’re feeling.
