Create Your Own Love Ritual

Choose a Friday, when the moon is waxing, or preferably full. Place roses on your altar – choose red for passionate love, pink for affection. Place Venus herbs there, also, if you wish, such as thyme. Have candles of rose pink. Enjoy a long bath first and anoint yourself with rosewater, or ylang-ylang oil. Call on Aphrodite to help you. After you have invoked the elements, ask for the special help of the salamanders, or Fire spirits, to bring you passion, the Water spirits, the undines, to bring emotional fulfillment, the Earth spirits, or gnomes, to endow you with earthy sensuality and knowledge of the senses, and the Air spirits, or sylphs, to bring you communication. In my view all are operative, but you might like especially to focus on one aspect. Then you may proceed to a specific ritual, which may be about empowering a special crystal to wear, or similar. While in your circle, clearly visualize the love you want. Perhaps write down all the attributes of the lover and burn the paper in the flame of a candle, placed in your cauldron. Touch each part of your body, caressing it and loving it, imagining that a lover will soon be doing this. Affirm that the love you want is now entering your life. Don’t forget to let the energies go and close down firmly, because this is the sort of spell that can linger, sapping your energies by unfulfilled desire.

Love Spells

Perhaps the most important thing to all of us is to have someone special of our own to love. Ethics and approach are important in love spells, for it is not a good idea to try to ‘get’ someone specific, however desirable they seem, however perfectly matched to our requirements. This is because, in so doing, we are seeking to influence someone else’s actions and interfere with their path. Sex and human nature being what it is, sexy spells often do work, but if a relationship isn’t ‘meant to be’ then trouble generally results for both parties. So if you are going to do love magic, I would strongly suggest that you aim to attract love into your life in a general way, not someone specific. There is no harm in imagining exactly the kind of person you would like, but that is different from directing your efforts towards a real human being. As for trying to pinch someone else’s lover – that really is asking for trouble. Look elsewhere.

Magic can be used to improve an existing relationship. If you do this for a couple, make sure they both want this. Doing magic for others is a big responsibility and generally it is best to work for happiness and peace, in a general way, for friends, rather than respond to their avid desires. As for your own existing relationships, you can work to bring more love in, if you wish. If you have doubts about your lover’s wishes, work for clarity first. Of course, you could ask your lover if he or she still loves you and wants the relationship. Hopefully they will respond candidly. In this way your lover takes a fair share of the responsibility.
