Cinco de Mayo

For several days, Mexicans and Mexican-Americans commemorate memorate the defeat of the French by General Ignacio Zaragoza at the Battle of Pueblo in 1862. His defense of the city dealt a major blow to Napoleon III’s attempt to establish a permanent French colony in Central America, which eventually led to the expulsion of the French from Mexico.

In California, Cinco de Mayo is still celebrated and serves to perpetuate Mexican nationalism in a foreign land. All of the pageant’s activities, speeches, songs, and events are played out in Spanish, usually beneath the American flag that is flown alongside the Mexican flag.

Cinco de Mayo Images

Cinco de Mayo is the day
Let’s celebrate real big
Join us all for fun and play
Our piñata is a pig

Don’t forget the victory
Of 1862
It’s all part of history
And good to have a view

We will plan the best of fun
Our guests will have a blast
Mariachi on the run
And flags all at full mast

Laughter, fun and playing hard
Is what we’ll do May 5th
With songs for dancing in the yard
Our party is no myth

So:
Be of good cheer
Come out and play
Drink a beer
And say olé!

Daily Feng Shui News for May 5th – ‘Money-making Salsas’

It’s Cinco de Mayo and I want to share with you my secret and delicious money-making salsa recipe. First you will need to place a fresh tomato on a kitchen windowsill for three days. Every time that you see it, visualize vines of money growing from it and spreading over your living space. See money growing up the walls and across the ceilings. Use your imagination to visualize money growing everywhere. On the third day dice the tomato and combine it with one half of a small chopped red onion, one half chopped jalapeno pepper, some lime juice, garlic, cilantro (another money-attracting food and the secret ingredient of this recipe) as well as some honey and any other spices you like. Blend this all together and eat the salsa knowing that very soon you will be receiving a financial windfall.

May the Force of the Full Moon Be with You

Karen A Kay on the topics of astrology, blog

Get ready for a SUPER exciting weekend! The next couple of days are filled with fun and surprises and drama and a few bumps in the road. That’s because we’ve got the worldwide wacky Star Wars Day on May 4, and then on May 5 there’s an intense Full Moon in Scorpio, which is also a “Super Moon,” and it’s also Cinco de Mayo and 5/5.

Enjoy Star Wars Day on Friday, because on Saturday the Full Moon in Scorpio may very well take us over to the dark side. It might rock our relationships and our finances, but the good news is we’ll at least have some fun along the way, as long as your idea of fun includes salsa and margaritas.

Saturday’s Full Moon in Scorpio is definitely forceful. It’s a “Super Moon,” which means it’s the biggest and brightest Full Moon of 2012.

And it’s making an opposition to the Taurus Sun that challenges us to get clear about what we really want and need in our lives, and to let go of things that aren’t cutting the mustard.

Tension is to be expected around this Full Super Moon in Scorpio! Master astrologers Rick Levine and Jeff Jawer are warning us that our powerful feelings might boil over into emotional extremes and drama as we try to get more of what we want from some people, while pushing others away.

But at least we can look to Numerology as a lightsaber in our battle against the dark force. Saturday is also 5/5 in the middle of a 5 year (adding the numbers 2012 = 5), and 5 is a high-energy number. It’s all about being adventurous and daring, so this will help us better handle whatever intensity the Full Moon brings our way.

And remember — whatever you feel at this time is ultimately for the best. Fights and upset can clear the way for positive breakthroughs, and we can finally shrug off bad habits (or people) that need to be broken.

Or as Yoda would say, “Named must your fear be before banish it you can.”
