Goes Hand-In-Hand With the Witch Oath
GO PLACIDLY
amid the noise and the haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons.
- Speak your truth quietly and clearly; listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant; they too have their story.
- Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
- Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
- Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
- Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.
- Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.
- Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
- Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
- Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less then the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here.
- And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
- Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusions of life keep peace with your soul.
- With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.
- Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

“The White Witch Oath”

“The White Witch Oath”
In Life’s name, and for Life’s sake,
I say that I will use the
Art for nothing but the service of Life.
I will guard growth and ease pain.
I will fight to preserve what grows
and lives well in its own way;
and I will change no object
or creature unless its growth and life,
or that of the system of
which it is part, are threatened.
To these ends, in the practice of my
Art, I will put aside fear for courage,
and death for life, when it is right to do so
—till Universe’s end.

The Elements & The Pentacle
The Elements & The Pentacle
The elements are what makes up the universe, without them there would be no form; we are made up from them. So the five points represent the five elements known as Earth, Air, Fire, Water and Space.
Earth represents our bodies and the material world, the Earth the stars and all the contents of the universe. Air is what we breathe and animates life, Water is the our life blood and the oceans, rivers and watercourses that are so abundant on the planet. Fire is what gives us heat, it burns in our bodies allowing us to digest the food we eat and it warms our bodies in the life giving properties of the sun. It gives us the beauty of the heavens at night when we look up at the stars, each one a mighty fireball of energy and without fire we would not have the most precious substance of them all, light! Without light the universe we live in would be devoid of any sentient life because it’s light that gives rise to all creation.
The fifth element is the most mis-‐understood and that is Space, people have called it “Ether” or “Spirit” and those words do descried some of its properties, but space sums it up best. Empty space the stuff between the stars, the stuff that hold and supports all creation. The formless void we come to know as the cauldron of the Goddess.
The Experience of Life:
On a more basic level of life the pentacle comes to represent our journey through life and the Give points can be attributed to the lessons we learn through life such as;
✴ To Love,
✴ To Create,
✴ To Experience,
✴ To Learn
✴ To Grow.
The pentacle opens up a gateway into the mysteries that allow us to have devotion to the forces of nature and this encourages us to open our hearts giving rise to an unconditional love. When we start to work with these forces we learn to create with them and this gives rise to experiences. When we have experience we learn and in turn we grow, this is called wisdom.
The Basic Emotions of Life
The pentacle can also come to present the Give basic emotions that often cloud our mind because they cause so much havoc. These are;
✴ Anger,
✴ Jealousy,
✴ Envy,
✴ Attachment
✴ Greed.
These things arise in each and every one of us and when they become extreme they cause us to experience all the difficulties of life. The aim of any spiritual path is to transform these basic emotions into Give wisdoms so that they don’t affect us as much. We need to turn;
✴ Anger into Love,
✴ Attachment into Generosity,
✴ Jealousy & Envy into Forgiveness
✴ Greed into a Freedom that allows us to let go.
It’s not easy but it can be done if we have patience and are prepared to put in some work. That’s the journey, the path or training that is needed to allow the individual to experience the deep mysteries and then in turn actualize them into their lives.
We are all looking for a happy and fulfilled life and it’s through the spiritual path we aim to try to find ways of helping us achieve these goals.
The Heart of the Witch
EARTH – Its colour is Yellow (Direction East)
EARTH – Its colour is Yellow (Direction East)
The element of earth is the densest and the most accessible of all the elements because earth is the foundations and building blocks of life; it is energy in its solid form. The carbons, which build our organs and skin are made from this dense element giving us the understanding of the material world around us and allowing us to feel objects and textures. Earth is also the element which allows us to understand the spiritual teachings physically, it gives us the opportunity to experience life directly and brings about the full understanding of our incarnated selves.
This is the most practical of all the elements as it transforms the world of energy into direct experience, allowing us to realize our dreams and fulfill our potential here upon the globe. The very planet we live on is even referred to as Mother Earth, showing us that this is a powerful element that sustains all life and give the foundational support all life needs to grow.
The direction we turn to acknowledge earth is East, it is here where we come to integrate the other elements and teachings into our lives and gain insight and wisdom within ourselves. This is the direction of the Witch, the Sorcerer, and the Magician the direction where the first shafts of light penetrate the day. These are people who have transformed themselves through working with these subtle energies and have come to the full understanding of the outer and inner worlds of existence. Through integration and understanding of all the elements you return to your true nature, Integrating and balancing all the elements within yourself and merging with the ocean, which is the clear essence of being.
The Earth element resides in the Stomach and from time to time when you are feeling a bit unwell it’s a good idea to visualize pure yellow light being breathed into your body and circulating around the stomach area. This way the elemental qualities will wash into your internal organs helping them to support their natural processes.
WATER – Its colour is Blue (Direction South)
WATER – Its colour is Blue (Direction South)
Water is the element of the South and through meeting water we meet the great nurturer that it is our mother. For nine months we swam in the seas of our mother’s womb, being protected we grew within this vital life fluid. Water is the creator of our emotions enabling us to experience the world as sensations and feelings.
Water teaches us to watch the world with non-‐attachment; by just letting thoughts drift by allows us to come to the understanding of the nature of the world. Our mind is the vast ocean and our thoughts are what swim within it. If we remember to focus on the ocean and just watch our thoughts without creating any attachment to them we become fluid and free. This is the element that reminds us we are made up from water; our entire bodies are fluid and moving just like our thoughts and the sensations within us. When we work with these qualities we come to the understanding that we need to be fluid and flowing within the mind.
When we free the mind from the constraints of thought we learn that we become clear. By having no attachment to our thoughts allows us to experience the clear mind the Witches talk about.
It is only by surrendering to the depths of the vast ocean that we come to experience life, allowing us to be reborn once again within a second birth, this time not from our maternal mothers, but from the eternal mother.
The water element resides in the kidney organs and from time to time these can become weakened with our excessive lifestyles, when you feel a weakness in this area of your body imagine breathing in pure blue light into your kidney organs. Let it wash into them restoring them with refeshing waters, restoring and healing you from deep within.
FIRE – Its colour is Red (Direction West)
FIRE – Its colour is Red (Direction West)
Fire is the energy that creates life and it is also the power behind conception and birth. Fire needs air to sustain its existence because without it, it withers and dies. Fire is what gives us the potential for action in the world; it forms momentum that allows us to grow and reach adulthood and become complete in our life’s purpose. When we talk of people burning with passion, this is the fire we talk about, an energy that fuels their ability to achieve their dreams. This potent element allows us to be inspired and to move from the point of birth growing fully into our lives. It brings momentum and without its transformative qualities all would be static. Fire is the powerful energy store within us that allows us to reach transcendence and move into pure consciousness to fully understand the Gods.
Fire is in the West, the direction of the setting sun, when we turn to the direction of the West we offer our prayers for the gift of life. We light candles and burn bonfires to this element and we feel its power as it transforms everything with its touch. Nothing can ever stay the same with the element of :ire, our lives are a process from birth to death; we burn throughout our existence consuming the air we need to keep living. At the end of our lives when the fire has dwindled we finally take our last breath and devoid of fuel we transform and dissolve into the next form of existence.
The fire element resides in your liver organ and from time to time when we get a bit cranky this organ feels sluggish. This happens when we eat the wrong type of foods and when we get stressed, to calm yourself and strengthen this element when it feels weak imagine breathing in the fire element as red pure light and let it infuse your liver organ cleansing it with healing and refreshing light that restores and heals.
AIR – Its colour is Green (Direction North)
AIR – Its colour is Green (Direction North)
Air is associated with the direction of the North winds and this is the realm of spirit where the primal energy of the universe floods into our world. Air is invisible, we breathe it in giving us life but we cannot touch it. We feel it sometimes on our skin, when the wind blows it caresses us and touches our bodies.
Air is just like spirit, it is there but we cannot give it form because it is formless, it is a feeling that lifts us beyond the everyday world and transports us into a realm where all things are possible, the realm where magic is made and transformation takes place. It is one of the greatest gifts of the universe because it gives us life. But what is life? It is the awareness with which we can perceive the world around us with. But like air the world is not as solid as is seems, it is a moving and flowing rhythm of energy that we dream into being. Air teaches us that everything is energy, moving in and out of form and formlessness, forever in motion.
Our breath is spirit, air gives us the gift of life and we in turn acknowledge that blessing and give thanks. Burn some sweet incense for air or maybe tie a small piece of cloth on a tree as a spirit flag. The air will carry the smoke to the sky and toss your colored rags around carrying your intentions high.
The air element resides in our lungs and its bright luminous quality gives strength to our bodies. When you are feeling a bit down or lacking energy try breathing in pure green light of the air element and let it infuse your whole body with a healing quality that supports and restores you.

Witchcraft 101: The Four Powers of the Magus
The Four Powers of the Magus
TO KNOW – noscere – air – to know what you are doing
TO DARE – audere – water – to dare to practice the Craft
TO WILL – velle – fire – to will the power
TO BE SILENT – tacere – earth – to keep silent about what you are doing
To Know– noscere – air – to know what you are doing. Witchcraft is rarely dangerous, but when you do not know what you are doing, what you do can turn out wrong. Know the difference between good and bad. Know what you are doing and what is your intent. Know who might get hurt. Think long and hard about your words and your actions before you fling them, unheeded, into the world.
To Dare – audere – water – to dare to practice the Craft. Never be afraid of what you are. If you are not afraid of your religion, you have a freedom within it. No one should ever try to make you afraid of your god(s) or goddess(es). Your power comes from you and you should not fear that which comes from your body because it is a part of you.
To Will – velle – fire – to will the power. Magick is all power that comes from the mind. This power comes from your strength in believing and willing something to happen. If you do not believe it will happen, then it will not. Your strength is your will and your willpower. Nothing is so strong as the human mind.
To Be Silent – tacere – earth – to keep silent about what you are doing. Magick is not something that is used to make you popular or to scare or impress others. Magick, like lovemaking, is a very personal, very private act and anything said about it makes it less sacred. It is the sacredness of the act that gives it its power. The more you talk about what you have done, the less power it has. Do not discuss your spells with others until after you have cast it and gotten the effect. Also watch who you tell. Not all eyes and ears are as understanding as yours
Witchcraft 101 – Make Your Own
Witchcraft 101 – Make Your Own
If you want to make your own spells, you can do that. If you’re especially creative or tuned in with this element, you won’t need my notes on what to include in your spells. As someone with many fire signs in my chart and an affinity for fire, I naturally know what goes into fire spells but I don’t have that benefit with the other three elements.
Try to build your own affinity for each of the elements. Before looking up what other people think you should use to create your Fire spells, sit and brainstorm or meditate for a few minutes. You’ll probably come up with more things than you expect.
You can, for instance, try pairing a bonfire with some of the plants I’ll bring up later in the book. Throw the plants into the bonfire and their essence will flow through the air around you.
Leaving some of those plants out as offerings to the deities in the next section can also work. You don’t only have to offer foodstuff to deities- magical plants also work. Try to figure out what plants a deity would like best through meditation.
There are so many ways to use fire in magic, and since flames are something we encounter almost every day there are countless times to call upon the power and cleansing ability of flames to improve your life.
Fire spells are really good for love, weight loss, sports and working out, sex, and protection. Be aware that fire can be destructive just as much as it’s creative.
Bringing fire into your ritual space is as simple as lighting a candle or some incense.
