Goddess, Are You Real?

The little child whispered,
“Goddess, speak to me”
And a meadowlark sang.
But the child did not hear.
So the child yelled,
“Goddess, speak to me!”
And the thunder rolled across the sky
But the child did not listen.
The child looked around and said,
“God, let me see you.”
And a star shone brightly
But the child did not notice.
And the child shouted,
“Goddess, show me a miracle!”
And a life was born
But the child did not know.
So the child cried out in despair,
“Touch me God, and let me know you are there!”
Whereupon the God reached down
And touched the child.
But the child brushed the butterfly away
And walked away unknowingly.

Astrology of Today – Monday, May 21, 2018

The Moon is in Leo until 10:02 PM, after which the Moon is in Virgo.
The Moon is void until 10:02 PM (since last night at 11:29 PM).
The Moon is waxing and in its Waxing Crescent phase until 11:49 PM, after which the Moon is in its First Quarter phase.
The First Quarter Moon occurs today at 11:49 PM.
Mars is in its pre-retrograde shadow (Mars will retrograde from June 26th to August 27th).
The Sun spends its first full day in the sign of Gemini (The Sun transits Gemini from May 20th to June 21st).

Moon in Leo

The Moon is traveling through Leo today. Shine and be proud! You rule right now!
The Moon in Leo speaks to our “inner child”. It’s a warm, generous, whole-heartedly loving position. Pride keeps us from pettiness, but it can also prevent us from opening up and revealing how we are truly feeling. We are on stage, our feelings are grand, and we appreciate some drama in our lives. We are easily threatened by anything that seems to be impersonal. This is a time when we seek attention–when we want to stand out for our special qualities. It’s a strong time for romance and any creative activity as well.
The Moon in Leo generally favors the following activities: Creative activities, activities involving children, generous undertakings, undertakings in which personal recognition is desired, and risk-taking.

Daily Overview of Your Stars and Planets for Monday, May 21

The Moon spends most of the day in the creative, generous sign of Leo, entering Virgo at 10:03 PM EDT. The Moon is void up until its ingress into Virgo, suggesting it’s better not to take on brand-new endeavors.

Tonight, at 11:50 PM, the First Quarter Moon occurs when the Sun in Gemini forms a square with the Moon in Virgo. There is a crisis theme surrounding any quarter Moon phase, as we feel compelled to take action. Shortly after, we are made aware of how our actions affect those close to us, perhaps through trial and error. Whatever project or initiative we began around the New Moon is now off the ground, and it may face its first obstacles. We become aware of differences, and as such, it can be a time of stress, clashing, and discord, but also of high energy, motivation, and growth. This is a time when we want to get something going, but we may not know the next step or the exact direction we want it (or us) to take.
The Moon continues its void period until it enters Virgo at 10:03 PM EDT.

The sky this week for May 21 to May 27

Ceres, Mars, Venus, and more shine overhead in the sky this week.
By Richard Talcott

Monday, May 21

The First Quarter Moon hangs high in the southwest as darkness falls, then sinks steadily toward the western horizon throughout the evening hours. Our satellite officially reaches its First Quarter phase at 11:49 p.m. EDT. The Moon lies in the constellation Leo, about 1° north of 1st-magnitude Regulus. From North America, the two objects appear closest in the early evening sky.

Tuesday, May 22

Jupiter reached opposition and peak visibility two weeks ago, and it remains a stunning sight all night. It appears low in the southeast during evening twilight and climbs highest in the south around midnight local daylight time. Shining at magnitude –2.5, the giant planet is the night sky’s brightest point of light once Venus sets shortly before 11 p.m. Jupiter resides among the background stars of Libra, 1.6° east-northeast of Zubenelgenubi (Alpha [α] Librae). When viewed through a telescope, the gas giant’s disk spans 45″ and shows a wealth of detail in its cloud tops.

Wednesday, May 23

The Summer Triangle asterism dominates the eastern sky in late evening. Vega, the triangle’s brightest member, shines at magnitude 0.0 and stands highest of the three stars. To its lower left lies Deneb; at magnitude 1.3, it’s the faintest of the trio. Magnitude 0.8 Altair completes the bright asterism. Despite its name, the Summer Triangle appears prominent from late spring until the onset of winter.

Thursday, May 24

Neptune rises around 2:30 a.m. local daylight time and appears about 15° high in the east-southeast as twilight commences. The distant world glows at magnitude 7.9, so you’ll need binoculars or a telescope to spot it. Fortunately, it lies near a brighter star that will guide you. This morning, Neptune stands 1.1° west-southwest of 4th-magnitude Phi (φ) Aquarii. You can confirm your sighting of Neptune through a telescope, which reveals the planet’s 2.3″-diameter disk and blue-gray color.

Friday, May 25

Look high in the northwest after darkness falls this week and you’ll be greeted by the familiar sight of the Big Dipper. The Dipper is the sky’s most conspicuous asterism — a recognizable pattern of stars that doesn’t form a complete constellation shape. It makes up the body and tail of Ursa Major the Great Bear. Use the Pointers, the two stars at the end of the Dipper’s bowl, to find Polaris, which lies due north for everyone north of the equator. Polaris marks the end of the Little Dipper’s handle. On evenings in late May, the relatively faint stars of this dipper arc directly above Polaris.

Saturday, May 26

Although Saturn won’t reach opposition and peak visibility for another month, observers will be hard-pressed to see it as inferior this week. The ringed planet rises around 10:30 p.m. local daylight time and appears highest in the south around 3 a.m. Saturn shines at magnitude 0.2 and stands out against the background stars of northern Sagittarius. If you target the beautiful world through a telescope, you’ll see its 18″-diameter disk surrounded by a ring system that spans 41″ and tilts 26° to our line of sight.

Sunday, May 27

The waxing gibbous Moon appears near brilliant Jupiter all night. The two were closest during the afternoon hours from North America (when they were below the horizon), and they slowly pull apart as the night progresses. Still, they make a pretty pair set against the backdrop of Libra the Scales.

In the Sky for the Month of May

Of the five planets easily visible to the unaided eye, only Mercury is missing from view this month. The other four are in good view, with one of them, Jupiter, putting in its best showing of the year. Venus climbs higher as the Evening Star, while Mars and Saturn remain in the early morning sky. Among the stars, Regulus and Spica climb to their full spring glory.

May 21: Moon and Regulus
The first-quarter Moon snuggles especially close to a bright companion tonight. Regulus, the heart of Leo, the lion, will stand just a degree or so from the Moon as night falls, which is less than the width of your finger held at arm’s length.

May 22: Martian Autumn
Mars is climbing into better view by the day. Right now, the planet stands about a third of the way up the southern sky at first light, and looks like a bright orange star.

May 23: Scorpius Rising
Scorpius, the scorpion, is entering prime evening viewing time. Its brightest star, Antares, rises about an hour after sunset, with the scorpion’s “stinger” following about an hour later. Look for orange Antares low in the southeast by 10 or 11 p.m.

May 24: Earth’s Shadow
A few minutes after sunset, look for a blue-gray band of color just above the eastern horizon, with pink above it. The dark band is Earth’s shadow. As Earth turns on its axis, the shadow will engulf you as the daytime sky gives way to night.

May 25: Moon and Spica
Spica, the leading light of Virgo, perches to the lower right of the Moon at nightfall. It is one of the brighter stars in the sky, and it’s not close to any other bright stars, so it stands out.

May 26: Moon, Jupiter, Spica
The Moon slides between two bright lights tonight. The planet Jupiter is close to the lower left of the Moon at nightfall. It’s brighter than anything in the night sky except the Moon and Venus. The star Spica is farther to the right of the Moon.

May 27: Moon and Jupiter
Jupiter, the largest planet in the solar system, looks like a brilliant star close to the right of the Moon at nightfall. It stays close to the Moon throughout the night.

COSMIC CALENDAR

MAY 21, 2018

Trying to gain a lot of physical traction when a long void lunar cycle is in effect in Leo and lasting until the moon enters Virgo (7:04pm) is not an easy task.

Consider finishing odds and ends on a high note rather than taking the risk of launching bold, new ventures. Ceres contacting Neptune via a potentially shadowy, 150-degree alignment (12:45am) reinforces the sense that pushing any personal plans assertively can backfire quickly with nasty results.

Asteroid watchers should note that Pallas enters Cancer at 6:10am in a cycle that lasts until July 11. Once the moon enters Virgo (7:04pm), for the next hour all kinds of revelations can inundate your thought process as the moon trines Uranus (7:39pm) while Pallas makes a supportive, 60-degree link with Uranus (7:58pm).

However, anticipate the possible arrival of temporary obstacles to forward progress as the first quarter sun-moon phase strikes (energizing 2 degrees of Gemini and Virgo at 8:50pm). Avoid allowing any kind of crisis to foil sensible plans. Manage your business affairs with self-assurance. Stop worrying about things you cannot control.

[Note to readers: All times are now calculated for Pacific Daylight Time. Be sure to adjust all times according to your own local time so the alignments noted above will be exact for your location.]

The moon is close to the sun in the sky and mostly dark except for the right edge of the moon which becomes brighter as the days get closer to the next phase which is a First Quarter with a 50% illumination.

About the Waning Crescent Moon Phase

The waxing crescent phase is the moon’s first step toward fullness. And it’s a very visible shift — the moon is completely invisible (while it’s new) until a tiny sliver is illuminated. The moon is considered a crescent only when less than one half of it is visible. According to astrologer and medium Natalia Kuna, this lunar phase presents us with a major opportunity for change.

Where the new moon is restorative and the full moon is expansive and specific to the time of year, the waxing crescent moon is a call to action. Regardless of the season or month, this is a great time to work toward the goals that are right in front of you. Tackle those home improvement projects that have piled up; start that awkward conversation with your manager; or finally adopt a dog.

If you think all of this go-getting will feel forced, you might be surprised. The waxing crescent moon encourages positivity and faith, so even the most steadfast pessimists may be more likely to leap without a net during this phase.

Of course, the moon shouldn’t take the blame for completely reckless behavior. But, if you’re usually timid about inciting change, this is absolutely your invitation to act boldly. Ride this wave of energy as long as you can — before you know it, it’ll be time to look inward and reflect all over again with the next new moon.

The Witches Guide to Monday

In the word Monday, we can see part of the word Moon. In the romance languages such as Italian or Spanish, this day of the week is called Lunes and clearly relates to the word lunar. On Mondays, a variety of magick may be worked. Because Monday centers on the energies of the Moon, things like dreams, feminine energy, health, success in spiritual pursuits, domestic matters, and things of family origin are especially important this day.

Mondays are best for love magick and anything concerning home or family, thus old saying, Mondays child is fair of face, which seems clearly to relate to the themes of love and health.

Angels of Monday are Gabriel, Arcan, Missabu, and Abuzaha. Arcan is known as the king of the angels of air and the “ruler” of Monday. Abuzaha (Abuzohar) serves Monday, and is very responsive to invocations and ritual magick. Missabu is a ministering angel of Arcan.

Check whether the moon is waning or waxing to determine what your spell will be. During waning moons, do spells to rid yourself of obstacles or for wisdom and protection. During waxing moons do magic for increase of any kind or to draw something into your life.

On Mondays, the best hour to work is moonrise. Get this information from your local newspaper, astrological calendar, or almanac.

Monday’s Witchery, Magick and Enchantment

Think for a moment on all of the witchery, magick and enchantments that you have discovered. Don’t be afraid to adjust spells to suit your own specific needs. Any gentle, illusory, and dreamy charms and spells can be enhanced when you work on the day of the week that is dedicated to the moon. Mondays are a fantastic day to boost your psychic abilities and to tune in to your intuition and empathy. It also gives you the opportunity to work with a different lunar phase each and every Monday, which means in one month you could work four different types of moon magicks on Mondays. How’s that for adding to your repertoire? You are going to have mad skills in no time at all.

So light up those lunar scented candles and add a little mystique to your outfit by wearing an enchanting lunar color. Wear your sparkling silver jewelry and maybe add a pair of dangling silver earrings or a pendant shaped like a crescent moon. Create lunar potions and philters; make a dream catcher and give it as a gift to someone you love. Burn some sandalwood or jasmine-scented incense today to inspire the glamour and magick of the moon. Slice up a favorite variety of fruit that is in season for a snack or share it with your love and enjoy his or her lunar and romantic qualities. Brew up a cup of chamomile tea, enchant it with a little moon magick, and relax and get a good night’s sleep.

Most importantly, get outside tonight and watch the moon for a while. What phase is she in? What color was the moon as she rose? Why not start a journal and write down at what location the moon rises and sets for a few seasons? This is a great way to teach you to tune in and to become more aware of the moon and the influence that she pulls into our lives. Try calling on Selene for her magickal assistance, and call Thoth for wisdom and strength. Get to know the Norse Mani and the Latvian Meness. These gods of the moon have plenty to teach, and if you allow their influence to cycle through your life, you’ll receive many blessings. Be imaginative, and create your own personal lunar magick and witchery. Go on….the moonlight becomes you.

Witches Magick for Monday, May 21: Binding Spells

Bind a Person from Coming onto Your Property

Materials Required:
Picture of the person
Twine or String

Instructions: To banish a person form your property, and keep them from returning, take a picture of the person and wrap the picture with the string until it is completely covered. Bury the wrapped picture in the ground where it will not be found. If you wish to remove the binding, dig up the picture and untie the string. Then, bury the picture in one hole, and bury the string in another.

Strong Binding Spell

Materials Required:
One picture of the person
One piece of material (belonging to person) to make a doll (a sock would work fine)
Sand
Rope, at least one yard
Grass

Instructions: This is a very strong binding spell, meant to be used for protection, as well as cursing. It will work hard to keep the intended person away from you.  Make a doll from the person’s material and fill it with the grass and sand. Place the picture of the person on top of the doll, and wrap the two together with the rope until neither are visible. Bury the object in a place far away from where you live, socialize or work, where it won’t be found.

Let’s Talk Witch: Cursing FAQ

My curse didn’t work. Why?
How do you know it didn’t work? Leave it alone.

My curse didn’t work well enough. Can I pile on more?
How do you know it didn’t work well enough? Leave it alone.

I asked for the wrong result. How do I change it now?
How do you know you asked for the “wrong” result, or that you didn’t get the “right” one? What part of leaving it alone don’t you understand?

Someone might have cursed me. How can I tell for sure?
If someone really has cursed you, you’ll know for sure. If you don’t deserve it, it probably won’t “take.” But if you do deserve it, that’s trickier. Use the Spotted Hag to try to escape a curse. And best of luck!

Someone has cursed me. Help! Use the Spotted Hag. And again, good luck. Curses are easier to place than to remove.

My enemy found out I cursed him. What should I do?
Nothing. Don’t brag about it, that’s all. If he asks you about it, just ignore him. (But why would he ask you about it, unless you tipped him off?) If he threatens you, ignore that, too. Unless you’ve played fast and loose with the rules, you’re safe. You cursed him, right?

How long does a curse last?
How long is a piece of string? Your curse knows how long it is. Worrying about things like this is a sign you’re fussing about the outcome of the curse you cast. Don’t.

I changed my mind. How do I remove my curse?
Salt purifies and protects, and so it’s sometimes able to “decommission” the ingredients of a curse. Try collecting the things you used, coat them with salt—lots of salt—and burn it all to ashes in a trough in the ground. Then, bury the ashes and hope for the best. The other thing you can do is to try casting the curse again—on yourself. Be aware that nothing you try will work if you’re acting out of fear, not remorse. And next time, read the label!

The Spotted Hag Spell

Protect persons, animals, homes, possessions, health

The charm you need is a Hindu prayer “to avert evil spirits of misfortune and to secure prosperity.” prosperity.” It’s chock-full of ghouls and goblins and fun for the entire family. So the bunch of you won’t mind saying it on rising every day for the next twenty-one. (You can also cast it alone; it’s just more fun if you don’t have to.) Use a calendar to keep track of where you are. Consider saying it as you’d say grace at a meal; just make that meal breakfast. It’s a great way to start your day! One last thing: you’re invoking Hindu gods, so discharge them each day with thanks. That way, they’ll return the next. Here’s the prayer:

We drive away the Spotted Hag, Misfortune, and Malignity:
All blessings to our children then! We chase away Malignity.
Let Savitar, Mitra, Varuna, and Aryaman drive away Stinginess from both the hands and feet:
May Favor, granting us her bounties, drive her off. The Gods created Favor for our happiness.
Each fearful sign upon thy body, in thyself, each inauspicious mark seen in thy hair, thy face,
All this we drive away and banish with our speech. May Savitar the God graciously further thee.
Antelope-foot, and Bullock-tooth, Cow-terrifier, Vapor-form, The Licker, and the Spotted Hag, all these we drive away from us.

And You Thought You Got Rid of Me

Still Eleanor, here. When I left Lady A this morning I asked her if I could post some information I was interested in and perhaps others. My interests lay in Vodou/Hoodoo. There is a section here with practically no information in it at all. I want to add to it. Lady A said it would be fine just as long as I used her account and waited till all the daily posts had been done. The reason for using her account, we don’t use any storage up when we do. The reason for waiting till we are through with the daily posts is to give you warning about what I am getting ready to do. That is post information on Vodou/Hoodoo. In case, you aren’t interested, you can leave. In other words, “warn them before you post.”

Lady A and I are both interested in Vodou. I am a practitioner as most of you probably already know. I believe if you have an open mind you will find it interesting. Both Lady A and I study other Paths. We believe that the more you know the better witch you can and will become. I will not post anything offensive. I do hope you hang around to view the information and find it interesting.

About Today’s New moon

By Deborah Byrd

As the moon orbits Earth, it changes phase in an orderly way. New moon comes on May 15 at 11:48 UTC.

A moon at the new phase comes most nearly – for any particular month – to passing between the Earth and sun. New moon is May 15, 2018 at 11:48 UTC; translate UTC to your time.

New moons come once each month, as the moon orbits Earth. On the day of new moon – unless we’re viewing a total solar eclipse – we don’t see the new moon. That’s because a new moon rises when the sun rises. It sets when the sun sets. It crosses the sky with the sun during the day. Its fully illuminated face, or day side, is turned entirely away from us.

It’s only as the moon moves in orbit, as its lighted hemisphere begins to come into view from Earth, that we can see it in our sky. Then we see the moon in the west after sunset as a slim waxing crescent – what some call a young moon.

This month’s new moon marks the start of the Islamic holy month of Ramadan. Read more: When does Ramadan begin in 2018?

Bottom line: As the moon orbits Earth, it changes phase in an orderly way. New moon comes on May 15 at 11:48 UTC.

Moon in Taurus

The Moon is traveling through comfy Taurus today. Eat something you love. Have a second serving.

We are motivated by the desire for serenity, security, peace, and comfort. The Moon is at her most sensual and constant in Taurus. Our basic impulses are to relax, resist change, and “stop to smell the roses”. Life slows down a little, and we get comfortable. We may also be inclined to stubbornness and materialism under this influence.

The Moon in Taurus generally favors the following activities: Substantial and material actions that yield solid results. Financial activities, and those involving personal possessions, applying for a loan, beginning a potentially long-term relationship, music, home decor.

Overview of the Planets and the Stars for May 15th

The New Moon occurs in the sign of Taurus this morning, clearing the slate for new beginnings with Taurean themes. While Taurus seeks predictability and often resists change, Mars and Uranus are changing signs and forming a square around the time of this New Moon, and this combination is dramatic, abrupt, and possibly disruptive. The New Moon also forms trine aspects to Mars and Pluto, suggesting the need for long-term change and recognition of its benefits. We can feel rushed into it, however! Or, we may feel life is moving ahead very quickly, and we need to catch up.

Uranus moves into the sign of Taurus today and will transit Taurus for the most part until 2025-6 (Uranus will return to and finish up its transit of Aries from November 6, 2018, to March 6, 2019). During this cycle, we approach money and personal possessions in new ways and discover ways to free ourselves from certain material constraints. Innovative ways to make ourselves comfortable emerge. We’re less inhibited about expressing sensuality, self-love, body love, and pampering. We’re challenging what we previously valued during this cycle. There can be abrupt changes with money, valuables, possessions, and income that lead to a reshuffling of priorities or values. Income might come from non-traditional sources or ventures. We’re bringing progressive ideas to the world of business. New ways of doing business, as well as making, viewing, and handling money are likely. Income and the energy we put into making money can be variable, as we seem to need to feel inspired to produce.

The Moon enters Gemini at 4:44 PM EDT, stimulating our desire to connect, communicate, and learn.

The Moon is void from 4:31 PM EDT, with the Moon’s last aspect before changing signs (a trine to Mars), until the Moon enters Gemini at 4:44 PM EDT.

The sky this week for May 15 to May 20

A slew of brilliant planets, a wafer-thin crescent Moon, and a high-riding Big Dipper all stand out in the sky this week.
By Richard Talcott

Tuesday, May 15

Jupiter reached opposition and peak visibility just one week ago, and it remains a stunning sight all night. It appears low in the southeast during evening twilight and climbs highest in the south shortly after midnight local daylight time. Shining at magnitude –2.5, the giant planet is the night’s brightest celestial object once Venus sets around 10:30 p.m. Jupiter resides among the background stars of Libra the Scales, 2° east of Zubenelgenubi (Alpha [α] Librae). When viewed through a telescope, the gas giant’s disk spans 45″ and shows incredible detail in its cloud tops.

New Moon occurs at 7:48 a.m. EDT. At its New phase, the Moon crosses the sky with the Sun and so remains hidden in our star’s glare.

Saturn rises shortly after 11:30 p.m. local daylight time and climbs some 30° high in the south as morning twilight starts to paint the sky. The ringed planet shines at magnitude 0.3 against the backdrop of northern Sagittarius the Archer. When viewed through a telescope, Saturn shows an 18″-diameter disk surrounded by a stunning ring system that spans 41″ and tilts 26° to our line of sight.

Thursday, May 17

A wafer-thin crescent Moon appears 6° to the left of Venus this evening. Our satellite appears only 9 percent lit because it passed between the Sun and Earth just two days ago. You should notice an ashen light faintly illuminating the Moon’s dark side. This is earthshine — sunlight reflected by Earth that reaches the Moon and then reflects back to our waiting eyes. Use binoculars for the best view.

The Moon also reaches perigee, the closest point in its orbit around Earth, today. At 5:05 p.m. EDT, the Moon lies 226,040 miles (363,776 kilometers) away from us.

Friday, May 18

Dwarf planet 1 Ceres is the largest object in the asteroid belt, which lies between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. It currently resides in western Leo, which appears high in the west after twilight fades to darkness. The magnitude 8.5 dwarf planet is easy to spot through binoculars or a telescope, particularly when it slides past magnitude 4.5 Kappa (κ) Leonis this evening. Point your scope at Kappa and then look for a magnitude 6.8 star half the Full Moon’s diameter to the south-southwest. Ceres lies between these two and slightly closer to Kappa.

Saturday, May 19

The Big Dipper’s familiar shape lies nearly overhead on May evenings. The spring sky’s finest binocular double star marks the bend of the Dipper’s handle. Mizar shines at 2nd magnitude, some six times brighter than its 4th-magnitude companion, Alcor. Even though these two are not physically related, they make a fine sight through binoculars. (People with good eyesight often can split the pair without optical aid.) A small telescope reveals Mizar itself as double — and these components do orbit each other.

Sunday, May 20

Venus crossed the border from Taurus the Bull into Gemini the Twins yesterday, and tonight it slides less than 1° north of the 5th-magnitude open star cluster M35. Binoculars or a telescope at low power will provide the best view of this pretty conjunction, especially once the sky grows dark around 10 p.m. local daylight time. The brightness disparity between the two objects is quite impressive: Venus appears some 4,000 times brighter than the combined glow from all the cluster’s distant suns.

In the Sky This Month

Of the five planets easily visible to the unaided eye, only Mercury is missing from view this month. The other four are in good view, with one of them, Jupiter, putting in its best showing of the year. Venus climbs higher as the Evening Star, while Mars and Saturn remain in the early morning sky. Among the stars, Regulus and Spica climb to their full spring glory.

May 15: More Hercules
One of the oldest groups of the stars in the entire Milky Way galaxy is M92. It’s in Hercules, which is in the east and northeast as night falls. M92’s stars probably are more than 13 billion years old, which is almost as old as the universe.

May 16: Bootes
The bright yellow star Arcturus, in the constellation Bootes, stands high in the east at nightfall. It is one of the brightest stars in the night sky. Bootes also contains a large void — a huge volume of space with almost no galaxies.

May 17: Moon and Venus
The planet Venus is in the west shortly after sunset this evening, close to the right of the crescent Moon. Venus is the brilliant “evening star,” so you can’t miss it.

May 18: Vega Rising
Vega, in Lyra, the harp, is climbing into the evening sky. It is low in the northeast as the sky gets fully dark, and climbs high overhead during the night. Vega is the third-brightest nighttime star visible from most of the United States.

May 19: VW Cephei
A pair of stuck-together stars is visible through binoculars in Cepheus, the king, which is low in the north at nightfall. VW Cephei is about 90 light-years away. Its two stars share their outer layers of gas, so they look like a glowing peanut.

May 20: Dragon’s Eyes
A pair of eyes stares down from the northeast as night falls right now — the brightest stars of Draco, the dragon. They are above brilliant Vega, one of the night sky’s most prominent stars. The brighter eye is Eltanin, the dragon’s leading light.

May 21: Moon and Regulus
The first-quarter Moon snuggles especially close to a bright companion tonight. Regulus, the heart of Leo, the lion, will stand just a degree or so from the Moon as night falls, which is less than the width of your finger held at arm’s length.

Your Daily Cosmic Calendar for Tuesday, May 15th

Stop, look and listen!

The new moon arrives at 4:49am (energizing 25 degrees of Taurus). This is usually a cosmic signal to earthlings to plant new seeds of creative, artistic and business achievements with a lot of confidence.

However, strange gyrations are also present right now as Uranus enters Taurus (8:18am) in a preliminary transit into this zodiacal sign lasting until November 6, 2018. On that day, Uranus will re-enter Aries until March 6, 2019 when this planet of revolution and lightning-like flashes of genius re-enters Taurus for an approximate 7-year cycle.

Adding to this day’s anything-goes, uncertainty vibrations is 13-minute void lunar cycle in Taurus that starts during a moon trine to Mars (1:31pm) and ends at 1:44pm when the moon enters Gemini. Several hours afterwards, another layer of potential chaos penetrates the psychic atmosphere of humanity as Mars enters Aquarius (9:56pm) while Juno in Aries squares Saturn in Capricorn only 2 minutes later (9:58pm). Be extra sensitive and kind-hearted to dear ones on the edge.

Throwing your hands up in despair is not an option as an ancient astrological affirmation — forewarned is forearmed — reminds you that knowledge of sky alignments before they occur can help you to remain calm while external conflicts temporarily seem to be in charge.

[Note to readers: All times are now calculated for Pacific Daylight Time. Be sure to adjust all times according to your own local time so the alignments noted above will be exact for your location.]

The Witches Current Moon Phase for Tuesday, May 15th

New Moon
Illumination: 0%

The Moon today is in a New Moon phase. During this phase the Moon is to close to the sun in the sky to be visible. The moon rises and sets with the sun and is not present in the night sky. Because of this the night sky is darker and an excellent time to view other celestial objects. Like the Full Moon, a New Moon happens at a very specific time when the sun and moon have the same ecliptic longitude and it can be measured down to the second it occurs.

PHASE DETAILS FOR – TUESDAY, MAY 15, 2018

Green Leaves

The stars are shining, the Moon is clear
In the rustling leaves Nature’s voice is clear
The river murmur through Spring and Summer
The song of The Lord and The Lady

Green leaves in the evening breeze
Where the people gather beneath the trees
Priest and Priestess and people joining
To honour The Lord and The Lady

The Earth is singing down here below
While we join in the firelight glow
The chanting rise to the stormy skies
In the praise of The Lord and The Lady

Green leaves in the evening breeze
Where the people gather beneath the trees
Priest and Priestess and people joining
To honour The Lord and The Lady

All powers below and all powers above
Have joined together to bless and love
All Nature blending Their people sending
Their love to the Lord and The Lady

Green leaves in the evening breeze
Where the people gather beneath the trees
Priest and Priestess and people joining
To honour The Lord and The Lady
