We tried to brighten your day a bit with all the pics of Spring! Just hang in there and you know what they say, “Spring is right around the corner, HA! We can feel for you that is for sure. You know it just hit me, I could be talking to nobody up there because their power is out. Oh, I pity them. We lived through an ice storm a few years back. Our power was out for 13 days and we didn’t see a soul even trying to get it restored. The first day when it wasn’t that bad, we made it to the store. Thank the Goddess we had food here, the store was bare. Next, we went to the gas station and there was a mile long line just to get gas for your cars (I kid you not). Thankfully again, we had double tanks and they were both full. We did have to find a way to cook. We ended up at a sporting goods store and bought one of those huge two burner LP gas stove. Oh boy, you sweat like a hog just cooking over it. But it not only cooked and made us coffee, it heated the house up to about 75 degrees. I should mention, it was 12 below outside.
The first few days was like an adventure, living back in the good old days. By day seven, I was wondering what the hell was so great about the good old days. No phone, no internet, no TV, no lights, my world was closing in on me. The days were so long. You couldn’t get outside because after the first day we managed to get out, here came 2 feet of snow the next day, I kid you not. The snow was blowing right toward the front door and it was piled up so high you couldn’t even open it. The side door was a different story. It took two of us to push and shove but we got that baby open. It was like freedom, YES FREEDOM! But where on earth was you going or how was you going to get there. By that time you could even seen the roads, all you could do was listen to the limbs of the trees snap. Yeah, there goes another power line! But we survived, finally the national guard came through checking on people. They passed out the Ready-to-Eat meals. I had one picture of those meals in my mind and instead we got a cardboard box of food. I am not ungrateful at all. He was the first human we had seen in 10 days. Started to drag him in and make him stay for a while. I mean after you hear Lord Myst jokes and tales so many times, you begin to think the squirrels are talking to you, lol! Seriously!
But dear friends, if you can read this, hang in there. Your snow will melt, run down the river and we will get flooded and washed away. Boy, Mother Nature knows how to get us all in one swift scoop. The next time you hear from us, we will be on an ark floating down to the Gulf of Mexico. Oh, well, we need a vacation, lol! You got to find something humorous about it or else you will go crazy.
So all those wonderful Spring pics were for you today. Just pick one out, stare at it and say “Spring, Spring, Spring!” Then click your heels three times and you will still be in the middle of the Nor’Easter. Just keep a stiff upper lip and Spring will be here soon, I hope.
