General Meaning

The Star Tarot card is about reconnecting one’s soul with the divine — the transcending of personality, family, community, and reputation. It has to do ultimately with the freedom to be one’s self. The soul is responding to celestial influences — forces that can provide the personality with a stronger sense of purpose. The Star card helps us to remember our exalted origins and our attraction to a higher union.

This card could also be called The Celestial Mandate — that which refers us back to our reason for being, our mission in this lifetime. The Star reminds us that, in a sense, we are agents of divine will in our day-to-day lives. If we let go of the idea that we are supposed to be in control, we can more easily notice and appreciate the synchronicities that are nudging us along. In this way, we become more conscious of the invisible helping hand, and we better understand our place within — and value to — the larger cosmos.

The card in the Advice position suggests a course of action which will harmonize what you want with what is currently possible.

Thursday, March 2: Jupiter opposite Uranus

On Thursday, Jupiter will oppose Uranus offering a sudden change in direction connected to a relationship matter. This will feel positive more likely than not — as if you’re breaking free from an unhealthy relationship pattern, or even an unhealthy person in your life.

Saturday, March 4: Venus Retrograde; Mercury conjunct Neptune

On Saturday, the stakes will become even higher in matters of the heart as well as money and individual self-worth. 2/26 ~ Mars (passion & purpose) ~conjunct~ Uranus (freedom & liberation):

This energy is a volatile mix but can be directed constructively. When these two get together, it can provoke you to be completely intolerant of restrictions and gives you an undeniable urge to break free in some way, shape or form. It’s time to do things in a completely new way. Uranus is the Awakener and Mars rules who you are and what you want on one level, and your Divine Masculine on another level (the part of you that gets your ideas out there, holds your boundaries & negotiates on your behalf). This is a break-to-realign moment but in an initiatory way (rather than a growth moment), it’s time to start a new path, passion or purpose that is born from within. This is a brand spanking new beginning for you (personally) and one that may even surprise you, let alone those around you, so stay loose yet alert. If you have a solid sense of Self and are clear about your deepest desires, then this energy is just what you need to finally (and permanently) break old limiting patterns of behavior which no longer suit who you have become. You will have considerable energy, so you should direct it consciously or into a project of your own making, something you created, something truly unique and that will ultimately reflect the Truth of who/what you are. At its worst, it is violent thrashing, reactionary and indiscriminate destructiveness.

2/27 ~ Mars (desires & actions) ~oppose~ Jupiter (expansion & learning):

This energy is perfect for working on your “grand vision” and that is exactly what you’ll “feel” like doing under this influence. Anything or anyone that blocks you from that should be consciously (and kindly) dealt with and then get to it! Mars is action and Jupiter is expansion and they are dancing together. It can be a selfish, undirected dance where no one wins or it can be the beginning of something huge! You are using this energy to access the single-mindedness of Mars to accomplish the huge goals of Jupiter. The downfall of this energy is to allow the Mars ego (Edging-God-Out) to lead when it serves a better purpose being the strength, not necessarily the strategy. And allow Jupiter’s connection to the Higher Truth for you, guide you on your Path. The Jupiter in you sees the bigger picture, your infinite potential that it longs to fulfill. Get out of your own way. Watch the inclination to “overdo” EVERYTHING – spending, physical activity, over-promising/under-delivering etc. Stay within your physical limits but expand limits of your consciousness. Robert Hand says, “The sense of timing of your actions may leave you and others amazed and sure that you’re lucky. But really you have succeeded because you have a complete understanding of the situation.”

3/1 ~ Sun (essential Self) ~conjunct~ Neptune (delusions & illusions):

This transit tends to make you very sensitive (rational or not) to others. If you are one of those people who tends to put everyone else’s needs before your own, watch out, because this makes that urge even stronger. Be aware of two things: (1) most times people who focus so much on others, to the exclusion of their own needs, is because there is something about their own life they do not want to face; and (2) you could get lost in your so-called altruism to the point where you lose touch with reality. This energy is best used alone to meditate and contemplate your own world unless you can be completely detached in your charity work. I use this little motivation to decide – is your life so perfect and abundant that you can afford to spend so much time and energy on another’s life? If so, GREAT!  Go for it! If not, however, then “charity begins at home” – work on YOU!

3/2 ~ Jupiter (Your Truth & Story) ~oppose~ Uranus (freedom & liberation): 2 of 3:  12/26 ~ 3/2 ~ 9.27.2017)

This is another potent and relatively rare combo (every 12-years) that brings expansion & liberation into your life, meaning nothing will ever be the same again. These two, in their own unique ways, like to shake things up and push you out of any rut you may be in at this time. Neither of them do well with maintaining the status quo, Jupiter wants to expand in new ways and tell a new story, while Uranus wants to break out of the old and step into the new in some way. Naturally, this becomes most obvious in your relationships (personal or professional) where things have grown stagnant. If you have obligations that have run their course, try to be proactive on your own behalf by initiating the necessary changes consciously, lest you get blindsided. Though it may “seem” sudden, it really has been building over time and with these two, you are reminded that the old way simply will not work anymore. I’ve often reminded folks that ‘when you change, everyone around you has to change or go away’ – it’s a natural law. The truth is that this kind of integration can be positive in that you may not know how or what to change, but the Universe does and it will provide the catalyst one way or another. Your job is not to throw the baby out with the bath water though. There are some solid aspects of your Truth and belief system (Jupiter) which also have a natural evolution (Uranus) that takes your life to the next level. Be as loving with your Self and others as you possibly can as you work through what you know and what you’re learning, stay open & receptive to new ideas and trust your intuition along the way. It’s time to do things differently, your Truth & Story has evolved and changed over 12-years and now it is time to breathe some fresh air into the story you’re telling.

3/4 ~ Mercury (communication/expression) ~conjunct~ Neptune (imagination/spirituality):

This is a mixed blessing, but definitely an initiation either way. It can be miraculous for creativity, art or exploration. I like this one for a personal ‘conversation with God’, your Higher Self, your SoulSelf. As with any initiation, a completion must come first, and in this case with Mercury, it’s time to expand your thinking in some way – go deeper. Invite your Ancestors, Angels & Animal Guides to answer your questions and guide you at this time. Communing with them is much more supported than communing with the humans around you. So if you need to think about the mundane or confront someone about something which requires complete honesty from both parties, things could get a little hazy & confused thanks to Neptune here. There is always a veil to contend with when dealing with Neptune, but you have to know which side of it you are on so you are in alignment with the Nature around you (3D vs 5D). This energy tends to color reality, misleading you to think you are being perfectly clear in your communication or what you’re trying to express, while others are completely lost. It’s better to say nothing, rather than be completely misunderstood.

The Witches Guide to Tuesday

Tuesday is the day of the week between Monday and Wednesday. The name comes from Middle English Twisday, from Old English Tiwes dæg, named after the Nordic god Tyr, who was the equivalent of the Roman war god Mars

In Latin, it is called Martis dies which means “Mars Day”. In Romance languages except Portuguese, the word for “Tuesday” is similar to the Latin name: mardi in French, martes in Spanish, martedì in Italian, dimarts in Catalan, and marÅ£i in Romanian.

Portuguese uses numbers instead of pagan names and so their word for “Tuesday” is terça-feira.
The English and Scandinavian names are derived from the Nordic god Týr:

Old English: Tiw, Tew, or Tiu
Swedish: Tisdag
Danish: Tirsdag
Norwegian: Tirsdag or Tysdag
Icelandic: Týsdagur
Finnish: Tiistai (borrowed)

The German word Dienstag and the Dutch word Dinsdag seems to be derived from the god referred to by the Romans as Mars Thingsus, the god of the thing, which might also be Týr, or possibly some other Germanic god.
The Russian word for “Tuesday” is vtórnik, meaning “second”; that is, counting Tuesday as the second day of the week.

Quakers traditionally referred to Tuesday as “Third Day” eschewing the pagan origin of the English name “Tuesday”. This has also been the custom in Iceland since about the 11th century when Jón Ögmundsson changed it to Þriðjudagur, meaning “Third Day”

In the Greek world, Tuesday (the day of the week of the Fall of Constantinople) is considered an unlucky day. The same is true in the Spanish-speaking world, where a proverb runs En martes, ni te cases ni te embarques (On Tuesday, neither get married nor begin a journey). For both Greeks and Spanish-speakers, the 13th of the month is considered unlucky if it falls on Tuesday, instead of Friday.

The Hindi/Bengali/Nepali/Gujarati/Punjabi/Marathi/Urdu word for Tuesday is Mangalwar, with Mangal being the Sanskrit name for the planet Mars.

In the Thai solar calendar, the day is named for the Pali word for the planet Mars, which also means “Ashes of the Dead”; the color associated with Tuesday is Pink.

Tuesday is the usual day for elections in the United States. Federal elections take place on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November; this date was established by a law of 1845 for presidential elections (specifically for the selection of the Electoral College), and was extended to elections for the House of Representatives in 1875 and for the Senate in 1914. Tuesday was the earliest day of the week which was practical for polling in the early nineteenth century: citizens might have to travel for a whole day to cast their vote, and would not wish to leave on Sunday which was a day of worship for the great majority of them.

In business, particularly office work, studies have shown that Tuesday is usually the most productive day of the week. Some of these people consider Tuesday to be their least favorite day, because they are not as relaxed as Monday (due to the weekend preceding it), yet they still have most of the work week ahead of them.

In French, Tuesday is “Mardi”, associating it with the planet Mars. Tuesday is also associated with the dwarf planet Pluto. This marries Tuesday with ideas of strife, battles to be won and pressing issues and jobs to get sorted. It is not a day to relax. This same meaning can be seen in the Spanish “Martes” and the English “Tuesday” (“Tyr’s day.”) In India, Tuesday is called “Mangalvar”, for the Vedic planet Mangala or Mars.

Tuesday, February 28

Head out tomorrow night an hour after sunset and locate Mars. Although the Red Planet shines at magnitude 1.3, it lies low in the western sky. But you’ll have some help. Look for the reddish point not quite 5° northwest of the waxing crescent Moon. At the time, our lone natural satellite will appear 15 percent illuminated.

Wednesday, March 1

As I write this, I don’t know if March will come in like a lion or a lamb, but if your sky is clear you can spot the celestial lion tonight. Look toward the east for the constellation Leo the Lion. The easiest way to find it is to first find the Big Dipper, which tonight stands high in the northeast. Just poke a virtual hole in the Dipper’s bowl and follow the water as it runs out. You might hear a mighty roar as the water falls on Leo’s back. Now that you’re in the general area, search for a backward question mark with a bright star as its bottom. The question mark’s curve is the Lion’s head and mane. The bright blue star is Regulus, also known as Alpha Leonis. It marks Leo’s heart. The rest of the constellation lies to the east of the question mark. Look for a triangle of stars with bright Denebola (Beta Leonis) marking the tip of Leo’s tail.

One of the greatest of all telescope targets — Saturn — rises in the southeast tomorrow morning around 2:30 a.m. local time. The ringed world resides in the constellation Sagittarius the Archer near that star pattern’s border with Ophiuchus the Serpent-bearer. It now shines at magnitude 0.5. Use a magnification of 100x in a 3-inch or larger telescope, and you’ll see Saturn’s magnificent rings tilted 27° to our line of sight. Look for a dark line called the Cassini Division near the rings’ outer edge. This 2,900-mile-wide (4,667km) gap separates the outermost A ring from the brighter B ring. Saturn shows a 16″-diameter disk surrounded by a stunning ring system that spans 36″.

The Moon is at perigee, the closest point in its orbit around Earth, at 3 a.m. EST. It will then lie 229,324 miles (369,062 kilometers) away. But because the Moon’s orbit is not circular, its distance from Earth varies by some 13 percent. Still, this morning’s perigee is the second farthest during 2017. The only perigee further will occur in September, when the Moon will lie 798 miles (1,284 km) farther away.

Saturday, March 4

Head outdoors around 10:30 p.m. local time and look for the sky’s fourth-brightest star rising in the east. That’s Arcturus (Alpha Boötis), the luminary in the constellation Boötes the Herdsman. The easiest way to find Arcturus is to first find the Big Dipper, which tonight stands high in the northeast. Note that the Dipper’s handle is curved. Follow that curve downward and you’ll come to Arcturus. Because the handle’s curve is also part of a circle called an arc, use the old phrase, “Follow the arc to Arcturus,” to remember how to locate the orange star.

First Quarter Moon occurs at 6:32 a.m. EST. If you watch carefully, you may see the half-lit orb rising in the northeast just past noon local time. Geometrically, First Quarter means the Sun-Earth-Moon angle equals 90°. When this angle, where Earth always represents the vertex, is 0°, we experience New Moon. That’s when the Moon and the Sun line up. At 180°, the Full Moon lies opposite the Sun as we see it and dominates the night. And when the angle is 270°, the Last Quarter Moon rises at midnight and sets 12 hours later.
