I completely agree. Any system, institution, organization, or authority in your life or environment that discourages you, disallows you, or denigrates you for questioning the world around you, is a danger to you. It’s not just about hiding something from you, it’s a malicious form of re-socialization that should be rejected or avoided.
I grew up with a strict father, and in the early years, it’s easier to keep your head down, just nod your head and agree. I was lucky, I think. I reached the typical age where teenage rebellion occurs, and while I couldn’t actively rebel, I could passively. I could keep my mind to myself, and not let my father’s vile vitriol infect me as well. I could keep myself open, take people, things, the universe as they are and not what I am told to.
Try your best to keep prejudice out of your heart and mind. It invites unfriendly shadows. One person doesn’t represent a group, always be prepared to look beneath the surface.
