Liberalia/Smell the Breeze Day

The wine God Liber Pater was annually honored on this day in ancient Rome. His festival was a time of great feasting, dancing, and drinking. It was believed that by participating in the festival, young men entering manhood would be gifted with strong sons and bountiful crops.

In Egypt, the little-known festival of Smell the Breeze Day commemorates the Easter holiday and Spring with festive outings. It is believed that if one smells a fresh-cut onion at dawn he or she will be blessed with good luck and good health.
