The New Moon in sentimental Cancer is a return to our roots in search of nourishment and a sense of continuity. Family and personal history play an important role in reconnecting us with the past, but the purpose of this lunation is not to linger on memory lane. Instead, the purpose is to draw sustenance and meaning from personal history to fuel plans and projects in the here and now. Feelings can be raw in this sensitive water sign yet a formidable square to this Sun-Moon conjunction from pragmatic Saturn in Libra signals the need to balance emotions with clear thinking. Compromises may be necessary to earn the support of others and taking time to explain needs and aspirations helps to inspire emerging ambitions. Staying cool, though, might not be easy with assertive Mars opposite explosive Uranus and square potent Pluto now. Acting rashly and with resentment are negatives, but discovering new forms of expression and freedom from old habits and fears can be a plus.
The New Moon in Cancer is paradoxical because it initiates a cycle in a cardinal sign, yet the Crab is reluctant to make any bold moves. Therefore this is a time for cautious starts when carefully measured steps are meant to reduce risks while prudently pushing forward to create new sources of security
