Banishing Powder (3) Exodus Powder

Asafetida

Cayenne pepper

Sulfur

This is a very concentrated banishing powder, and it’s known as Exodus powder because it stimulates your spell’s target to recreate the exodus–a sudden departure.

Grind all ingredients together to form a powder. Sprinkle this on and around your target’s front doorstep to make them move. Actually sprinkling the powder onto your target’s shoes should also achieve the same effect.

Banishing Powder (2)Begone! Banishing Powder

Chopped bay laurel leaves

Black pepper

Cayenne pepper

Powdered hydrangea blossoms

Sea Salt

Both formulas are similar in intensity and may be used in the same manner.

  • Sprinkle the Banishing Powder on clothes, especially shoes, belonging to anyone you’d like to see gone.
  • Sprinkle the powder on the ground, so that the target of your spell is forced to step on or over it.
  • Banishing Powder will enhance the power of any other vanishing spell. Sprinkle as an accompaniment, particularly around and over candles.

Banishing Powders

The art of the enchanted powder reaches its finest point with banishing spells. Various banishing powders exist of varying intensity. Some are created from common kitchen ingredients, while others are mixed from more exotic components. Experiment and see which formula works most powerfully for you.

Remember that powders are intended as a subtle form of magick. There’s no need to leave a large suspicious pile; a discreet sprinkling is typically sufficient.

Any of the following Banishing Powders may be used to create a Banishing Oil.

Daily OM – Universal Awakening

Universal Awakening
Rippling And Tipping

At this time of awakening, even small acts can become great forces in the world, like pebbles making ripples in a pond.

A snowball at the top of a mountain has the potential to become huge, just by rolling down the mountain and gathering more snow. In a short time, this tiny snowball can become a force to be reckoned with. We humans are like this when it comes to exchanging energy and vision, and no matter how few people are involved at the beginning, there is the potential for massive change. As consciousness seekers, we are in the midst of this process, and it is amazing to see people we thought might never come around, waking up to their truth. Each time we see this, we can count ourselves blessed to be living at a time when the awareness of humanity seems to be at a tipping point, as more and more individuals open their minds and change their ways.

For some people, this revolves around an awareness of the environment, for others it is a spiritual awakening, and for many it is both. A great change in consciousness is sweeping through us all, as we recognize that things are not what they have seemed to be, that there is more to our lives than meets the eye. Many of us have the awareness and the energy at this time to break through old, outmoded ways of seeing things and to move into a new way of being in the world, and it is essential that we do so. The beauty of living at this time is that even small actions have a powerful ripple effect, and the reverberations of what we do have the power to reach and open many minds.

It is as if a scale is about to tip in favor of higher consciousness, and each one of us has the power to bring humanity closer to that point with the smallest of actions. Each time we move in the direction of our dreams and visions, we can visualize another small pebble dropping into the pond, or another gold weight on the scale, rippling and tipping our way to universal awakening.

Daily Goddess Devotion: THE GODDESS

Daily Goddess Devotion: THE GODDESS

I seek Her and find Her, filled with abounding love,
Standing here upon earth, or looking high above.
She does not rule ore me, or linger till I fall,
I need not fear the judgment, within deaths silent call.
I never dread Her anger, for She understands my heart,
I walk my path knowing, She shall never part.

Power Animal of the Day: Polar Bear

Power Animal of the Day: Polar Bear

The Polar Bear

Strength          Perseverance          Insulation

The polar bear is enormously strong and full of courage.  He will help you stand up to the challenges of life, so you are never overwhelmed, no matter how large the challenges are.  For you are the polar bear, and you do not back down.

The polar bear will also teach you to thrive in environments that may be hostile to others.  He will give you powerful insulation, so that you are always safe and sound, no matter what is around you.  While others are losing strength and power, you will just breathe in deeply and pull warm polar bear energy around you and within you.

With polar bear energy within you, you will have the strength and perseverance to handle any challenges that life brings to you, no matter how great.  Just breathe in polar bear energy and you will be filled with self-belief; you will know that you are everything you need to be.

The polar bear is also a master at camouflage.  When you need to disappear into yourself and find peace for a moment, just close your eyes and cover your nose and you will disappear for a time.  Then, rested and rejuvenated, spring to life, full of enough energy to cross the arctic ices.  After all, you are the polar bear and power is yours.

‘May we live in peace without weeping. May our joy outline the lives we touch without ceasing. And may our love fill the world, angel wings tenderly beating.’

Runecast for Wednesday February 23

Isa of Heimdall’s Aett popped out today Isa pronounced “ee-saw” (I: Ice) A challenge or frustration. Psychological blocks to thought or activity, including grievances. Standstill, or a time to turn inward and wait for what is to come, or to seek clarity. This rune reinforces runes around it.

Frost has blanketed the earth. It seems that everything in nature is dead. But winter is not forever. You have to sacrifice a part of your personality for the sake of future rebirth. If you are carrying or nurturing a child now, you may feel isolated from the buzz of working life, and longing for more social contact. But the lesson of this rune is to see the need to free yourself from past habits and projects, and to prepare for something much more important. Perhaps this is a gestation period and you are putting new schemes and ideas together. You may feel that these are unrealistic and that everyone and everything is against you, but this is just like a winter in your personal life, a period of rest and secret inner preparation. Wait for spring. It will come without fail.

Isa Merkstave (Isa cannot be reversed, but may lie in opposition): Ego-mania, dullness, blindness, dissipation. Treachery, illusion, deceit, betrayal, guile, stealth, ambush, plots. (Note: the reversed or merkstave definitions are included only for reference as they apply to a multi-rune cast and not to a single rune that’s drawn blind from the pouch)

As with all, take only what feels right to you and disregard the rest.

Lunar Lore

 Lunar Lore

*

An old moon in a mist
Is worth gold in a kist [chest];
But a new moon’s mist
Will ne’er lack thirst.
  – Collected in R. Inwards, “Weather Lore”.

…

And were the moon forever full
and ne’er to wax or wane,
Man would not strain his watchful eyes
to see its gladsome round.

 – “The Arabian Nights” (Burton’s trans.)

Ye stars and moon, that, when the sun retires,
Support his empire with succeeding fires;
And thou, great Hecate, friend to my design;
Songs, mutt’ring spells, your magick forces join;
And thou, O Earth, the magazine that yields
The midnight sorcerer drugs; skies, mountains, fields;

 – Ovid, “Metamorphoses,” Dryden’s translation

The naked Moon, full-orbed antagonist
Of night and dark, night’s dowry: peak to base,
Upstarted mountains, and each valley, kissed
To sudden life, lay silver-bright: in air
Flew she revealed, Maid-Moon with limbs all bare.
            – Robert Browning, “Pan and Luna.”

Pagan Studies – Pre-Spring Cleaning Ritual

Pagan Studies  –  Pre-Spring Cleaning Ritual

What is cluttering up your home, both literally and metaphorically? Now is a good time to clear your home of clutter and to clear whatever blocks your progress. Begin with your altar. Is it cluttered? Clear it, put down a fresh altar cloth, and place a new white candle on it. Take a cleansing bath or shower with sage, lavender, or hyssop, chanting “Pure, pure, I am pure” as you bathe. (Purity was very important to the priests and priestesses in ancient times.) At dusk, light the candle. Look into the candle flame and meditate on its solitude and purity. Feel burdens slip off your shoulder, and open the shades so you can see the Moon. Promise the Moon and Virgo the Virgin that you will focus on what is important in life and remove whatever is blocking you. Set aside the time between the Full and New Moon to clear clutter from your life.

Today’s Goddess: MINERVA

Today’s Goddess:  MINERVA

Terminalia (Rome)

Themes: Earth; Home
Symbols: Owl; Geranium

About Minerva: This Etruscan/Italic Goddess blended the odd attributes of being a patroness of household tasks, including arts and crafts, and also being the patroness of protection and of war. Today she joins in pre-spring festivities by helping people prepare their lands for sowing and embracing the figurative lands of our hearts, homes, and spirits with her positive energy.

To Do Today: In ancient times, this was a day to bless one’s lands and borders. Gifts of corn, honey, and wine were given to the earth and its spirits to keep the property safe and fertile throughout the year. In modern times, this equates to a Minerva-centered house blessing.

Begin by putting on some spiritually uplifting music. Burn geranium-scented incense if possible; otherwise, any pantry spice will do. Take this into every room of your home, always moving clockwise to promote positive growing energy. As you get to each room, repeat this incantation:

Minerva, protect this sacred space and all who live within. By your power and my will, the magic now begins!

Wear a geranium today to commemorate Minerva and welcome her energy into your life.

Seasons of the Witch! Ancient Holidays (and some not so ancient!)

Seasons of the Witch!   Ancient Holidays (and some not so ancient!)         Venice: PANCAKE DAY. Pancake tossing, pancake races. King Carnival is greeted with much ceremony. He is a very fat man, his straw body stuffed with explosives. He is burned at midnight.

Live each Season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influences of each. ~Henry David Thoreau (1817 – 1862)

Terminalia – On this day, Romans honored boundary god Terminus. Neighbors met at the boundary stones between their properties, with the women bringing torches ignited on their hearths, the sons with baskets of produce from the property and the daughters with special honey cakes. The women kindled twin altar fires made of neatly interlaced sticks. The sons held their baskets over the fire and the girls shook them three times to scatter its contents into the flames, then fed the cakes to the fire. Employees stood by dressed in white, wine in hand. The two landowners slaughtered a lamb and a suckling pig and let the blood spatter on the stone. Then the two families sat down for a feast.

A good day to honor boundaries of all sorts, from property boundaries to personal boundaries. How can you mark and define your space? What tokens will you set up to show others where your boundaries are? And how will you honor these?   Rufus, Anneli, The World Holiday Book, Harper San Francisco 1994

St Mildburga – This sixth century Shropshire saint was associated with plowing and sewing from an early date. She protected a newly-sown field from the depredations of worms and geese. While fleeing from her enemies she caused water to spring up out of the ground and a field of barley to grow to maturity in one day. Her feast day falls in the middle of the spring wheat sowing season in Shropshire. Berger,
Pamela, The Goddess Obscured, Beacon Press 1985

St Polycarp – The LaPlante sisters recommend St Polycarp as the saint to invoke when looking for a parking spot, although the connection between his life (he was a student of the Apostle John, a Bishop of Smyrna and martyred at the age of 86) and parking places is obscure. They suggest the following prayer: “Polycarp, find me a spot.”
LaPlante, Alice & Clare, Heaven Help Us: the Worrier’s Guide to the Patron Saints, Dell 1999

NOTE: Because of the large number of ancient calendars, many in simultaneous use, as well as different ways of computing holy days (marked by the annual inundation, the solar year, the lunar month, the rising of key stars, and other celestial and terrestrial events), you may find these holy days celebrated a few days earlier or later at your local temple .

Today’s I Ching Hexagram for 2/23

Today’s I Ching Hexagram for Everyone:

51: Shock

Wednesday, February 23rd, 2011

Hexagram 51

General Meaning: One hears thunder unexpectedly! First comes fear, then a sharpening of one’s vision. Recall a close brush with danger — a falling branch, an automobile accident barely avoided, an escape from a potentially violent confrontation. Such incidents arouse every nerve fiber in your body in a brief wave of terror, but soon, once the danger has passed, give way to a heightened awareness of the world. The same process also occurs with other types of shock — the loss of a job, the sudden departure of a loved one, business failure and so on.

The lasting impact of a major shock can either be stimulating or debilitating, depending upon one’s strength of character. The critical factor is the ability to shake off fear, thereby transforming anxiety into a laser-sharp perception of the world around you.

When overtaken by crisis, the wise search their hearts for inner strengths in order to face their life with courage. This often means daring to take an unexpected path — to bounce back quickly and self-confidently after failures, to have faith in the eternal when confronted with death.

We tend to think of shock only in the context of unpleasant events. We can also be jarred, however, by the sudden release of tension that comes with unexpected joy or success. To keep your bearings in the aftershock of either trauma or victory, it is essential that your inner compass be aligned with ‘true north’, that magnetic force which guides you toward fulfillment of both your deepest desire, and your highest destiny.
