The Chariot

The Chariot is the representation of Victory and the personality traits required to attain victory. The Chariot indicates self-awareness and control. Courage—the ability to overcome fear and confront the unknown head on–is a primary ingredient of any victorious campaign and is denoted by the Chariot. So too is force of will. Often success is as much the product of will power and a refusal to surrender as it is anything else. The Chariot also represents the healthy personality of someone who believes in themselves; someone who can take control of the situation and bring events to a positive end. His successes come in competition with others.

The Lovers

The Lovers indicates both the most powerful of unions and the most of challenging conflicts humans must face. On one side The Lovers’ embodies love and union on a cosmic scale—a love so strong, so inherently good that it actually makes the lovers better, more than they really are. All of the elements are there for the perfect union. The Lovers represent all powerful unions in general, and the elements that create/sustain them. The problem The Lovers face is temptation and the decision to act morally or abandon their ethics to take advantage of other opportunities that would be defined as transgressions.

The Emperor

The Emperor is blessed with the skills to successfully lead others. He can turn chaos into order and provide structure to that which is unbound. He is quick of mind and confident in his power and right to rule, and does so in a just manner. Although stern by nature, he truly is the ultimate father figure. He will provide as needed, teach those with unanswered questions, protect the vulnerable, set and maintain boundaries. His perfect world runs on schedule and is free of any disturbances. What the Emperor must be wary of is setting boundaries and rules where none are needed. If he isn’t careful not to over use his powers he may well become a tyrant.

Fortune

Fortune represents that aspect of life that is directed by forces and events we may not understand or even be aware of. In short, Fortune deals with chance—those occurrences that manage to alter even the most structured of lives, usurp man’s “best laid plans.” While the effects of Fortune are unpredictable, the outcome is always change; sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. Our path through life is never a ride down a perfectly straight highway. Sometimes we may even experience hairpin turns or complete reversals of direction. Fortune is strong reminder that despite our plans, the Universe has its own agenda from which we cannot escape participation.

Monthly Tarot Card Forecast: Sept. 2015

Emotional baggage, changes, and the will to move forward!

Hi, I’m Brigit Esselmont, professional Tarot reader and teacher! Today I have for you a very special Tarot card forecast for the month of September. What I’ll be doing is drawing three cards: one for the blessings of this month, one for the challenges of this month, and our final card for how we can make the most of the month ahead…

Blessings/Opportunities Card: Eight of Cups, Reversed

Now, the first card that I drew, for our opportunities, is the Eight of Cups, Reversed. You can see that there’s a man who’s turned his back on the eight cups and he’s decided to walk away from them, leaving behind the emotional stuff (so what we can see in those cups), the emotional baggage, I suppose, and deciding to walk away from that.

Now, in the reverse position, and knowing that this is about our blessing and opportunities this month, you may find in September it actually serves you well to let go of the stuff that’s disappointing you recently.

Challenges Card: Death, Reversed

With our challenges, we’ve got the Death card, Reversed. It does look like quite a scary card with the figure of Death on the horse, but it’s really about death and transformation. And when it’s appearing in the reverse position, and particularly when it’s appearing as a challenge, what I see coming out with this card is that there may be some resistance to change.

Now with the Eight of Cups, Reversed, it’s important to walk away from something right now that has been disappointing. With the Death, Reversed card there may be some resistance as you go along, with that. So really have a think about, “What, right now, during this month, is changing for me? What skin am I shedding? What parts of myself do I need to let go of, in order for something new to grow?”

Maybe there’s a really good outcome if you can leave behind something that’s no longer working for you. So just really tune into any feelings around resisting change.

Recommendation Card: Two of Pentacles

For our card for how we can make the most of this month, we’ve got the Two of Pentacles. And you can see this guy, juggling coins, and it’s almost like he’s doing a bit of a dance. And it’s about just the stuff of life, the day-to-day demands, about managing your To Do list. This card’s just saying to you, “Keep on top of your affairs, keep on top of your money, keep on top of your responsibilities.” Set out a plan if you need to — schedule for the month ahead — and that will help to balance things out.

At a deeper level, remember, you are dealing with some big changes, and the opportunities are about leaving behind something that’s no longer working, and at the some time making sure that everything is running smoothly.

Embrace all of that change and transformation that is surrounding all of us, and make the most of it!

Generally The Hanged Man is thought to represent the value of surrender and selfless acts. The Hanged Man embodies the notion that sometimes to lose is to win. Unlike the aggressive Chariot, The Hanged Man creates his fate through inaction and accepts his fortune passively, without resistance. He does not struggle to control the path his life takes, but rather allows events to sweep him where they will, even if he is called upon to sacrifice himself. He is so at ease with the Fate the Universe chose for him that even hanging upside down from a tree does not ruffle his inner peace.

The Empress

The Empress is “The Earth Mother” of the Tarot. She embodies all that is nurturing, clean and wholesome. Her powers resonate from her drive to create and care for life on a grand scale. She is in tune with Nature’s rhythm and realizes that life’s most pleasurable moments often stem from the simplest things. She is not afraid to enjoy herself–to let loose—to the point of being lavish. Abundance and luxury are important to her. The Empress is completely comfortable with her femininity and her sexuality. She is sensual, earthy, generous, and likes the good life. Still, her driving force is a need to create and nurture, and fulfilling this need overrides everything else.

The Magus

The Magus is the physical embodiment of decisive action based upon knowledge and aimed squarely at specific goals. While firmly set in the material world, he none-the-less has a powerful spiritual connection as well. His knowledge, wisdom and skill are all encompassing. He is complete. His power as a creator is unmatched on our earthly plane. He is self-aware and unafraid to act. His enormous strength gives him the freedom to act as he chooses. However, responsibility comes with that freedom. Because he is not bound to the restraints of others he must choose how to act. The question that always lies before him is should he act morally, or forsake ethics for personal gain.
