UNICORN LOVE SPELL

This spell is to draw your beloved to you in a relationship that has longevity.

You will need a gold gel pen, a white piece of paper, an envelope, and three drops of honeysuckle oil. Honeysuckle is a twining vine that can be used to bind lovers together.

Begin by writing with the gel pen the name of your beloved three times on the paper. Say the name aloud as you write it.

Fold the paper and insert it into the envelope. Sprinkle the drops of honeysuckle oil on the envelope while you say three times:

May the power of the unicorn shine on our love.

Take you wand and point it at the envelope. Imagine you are the unicorn. Imagine that a burst of rainbow colored light shoots up from the envelope as faeries dance aall around it. Say again:

May the power of the unicorn shine on our love.

Keep the envelope someplace where you can see it and empower it with your mind on a nightly basis.

The Crone

In the mundane world, when people use the word crone, they usually envision a shriveled old woman, bent and wrinkled. It is not a compliment. If you’re a woman and you overhear your blind date referring to you on his cell phone as an old crone, feel free to hit him with your purse. Hard.

But in the Pagan world, the world crone has a completely different meaning. Well, three meanings, actually.

The first meaning is the one that most of us might think of automatically-the crone as the representation of the third embodiment of the triple goddess: maiden, mother, and crone. When the goddess is in her crone guise (such as at Samhain), she has reached the end of the year and the end of a cycle. Wrinkled she may be, but also wise and revered. And as Pagans, we know that eventually this phase too will pass, and the goddess will come around again as maiden, young and beautiful.

The word crone is also used to indicate age and honor in the practice of Witchcraft. A crone is a woman (sorry, guys, but there is no male equivalent-I guess you’ll just have to settle for being called “that old, wise Pagan dude”) who has practiced the Craft for many years and has attained much wisdom and experience along the way. To be called a crone in this context really is a compliment, a term of respect and honor. Personally, I look forward to the day when I am called a crone!

Crone can also be an indication of the stage of a woman’s life. Once a witchy woman has hit menopause (or it has hit her), she is no longer considered to be in the mother stage of her life and has moved on to the status of crone.

Despite what you might think, this is not a bad thing.

Remember that it is only in our modern world that “old” has become a bad word. In days gone by, the older generation was more often looked up to and admired for their knowledge and their wisdom. The Pagan community as a whole is much more likely to still do so.

So if you are a woman of a certain age, enjoy being a crone. Rather than bemoan what you have lost (remember, it will all come along again in your next life), rejoice at when you have gained—wisdom and knowledge and the ability to lord them over the younger generation. Be proud to be a crone; you’ve earned it!

Thursday’s Witchery

Today is the day for prosperity work of all kinds. It can also be used for healing work, whether that is a physical healing of an illness or an emotional healing. Also remember that you have to follow up your healing work and prosperity magick and physical action.

I can’t tell you the number of times I have met new witches who complain to me that their prosperity spell or “I need a better job” spell did not work as they expected. They’ll ramble on and on about how much time and money they spent working their magick….but, alas, they had no glorious manifestion of wealth or fabulous job that suddenly dropped out of the sky and landed in their laps.

Then, when I gently ask them, “Did you enchant your resume or application when you filled it out? Did you do a little confidence-boosting spellwork when you went to apply for the job or went to the interview?” typically they give me a blank, confused stare.

Nine times out of ten, their response is, “You mean I have to go out and actually look for the job too?” Um, yes, my dear, you certainly do. Magick follows the path of least resistance, which means it’s going to manifest along the simplest, quickest route. Get out there and hit the pavement. See what you can find. Times are tough and competition for good jobs is fierce, so you need whatever edge you can get. For folks like us, we’re going to get the edge by using our magick and our spellcraft.

Thursdays have such a rich source of magick for us to draw upon that, honestly, the sky is the limit. This is the day associated with the gods of the sky and heavens, after all. Get to know these deities and add their wisdom and magick into your days

Thursday

Jupiter’s (Thor’s) day

The name is derived from Old English and Middle English Thuresday (with loss of -n-, first in northern dialects, from influence of Old Norse Þorsdagr) meaning “Thor’s Day”. Thunor, Donar (German, Donnerstag) and Thor are derived from the name of the Germanic god of thunder, Thunraz, equivalent to Jupiter in the interpretatio romana.

In most Romance languages, the day is named after the Roman god Jupiter, who was the god of sky and thunder. In Latin, the day was known as Iovis Dies, “Jupiter’s Day”. In Latin, the genitive or possessive case of Jupiter was Iovis/Jovis and thus in most Romance languages it became the word for Thursday: Italian giovedì, Spanish jueves, French jeudi, Sardinian jòvia, Catalan dijous, and Romanian joi. This is also reflected in the p-Celtic Welsh dydd Iau.

The astrological and astronomical sign of the planet Jupiter is sometimes used to represent Thursday.

Since the Roman god Jupiter was identified with Thunor (Norse Thor in northern Europe), most Germanic languages name the day after this god: Torsdag in Danish, Norwegian, and Swedish, Hósdagur/Tórsdagur in Faroese, Donnerstag in German or Donderdag in Dutch. Finnish and Northern Sami, both non-Germanic (Uralic) languages, uses the borrowing “Torstai” and “Duorastat”. In the extinct Polabian Slavic language, it was perundan, Perun being the Slavic equivalent of Thor.

There are a number of modern names imitating the naming of Thursday after an equivalent of “Jupiter” in local tradition. In most of the languages of India, the word for Thursday is Guruvar- var meaning day and guru being the style for Bṛhaspati, guru to the gods and regent of the planet Jupiter. In Thai, the word is Wan Pharuehatsabodi—referring to the Hindu deity Bṛhaspati, also associated with Jupiter. En was an old Illyrian deity and in his honor in the Albanian language Thursday is called “Enjte”. In the Nahuatl language, Thursday is Tezcatlipotōnal meaning “day of Tezcatlipoca”.

I AM A WITCH

I am many things,

I am a Daughter, a Lover,

and a Friend.

I am a Teacher, a Student,,

and a Woman.

I am many things,

Wear many costumes,

And act in many ways.

Yet beneath each mask,

I wear, I am a Witch.

I am a Priestess,

I follow the Path,

I follow the Old Tradition,

I follow the Ways of the Wise ,

Ones. I seek to know the God,

I seek to know the Goddess,

I seek to know myself.

I am a Witch.

Though I may only dress up,

For eight Sabbats a year,

And thirteen esbats in turn,

I am always a Witch.

Though I may not always,

dress in black,

Or leave my hair wild and free,

I am still a Witch.

I do not worship Satan,

I’ve never even met him,

Yet many see me as evil,

And magick as a sin.

I do what comes natural,

What the Gods have ,

taught me,

And although it does not,

conform,

I am still a Witch.

The Goddess shows me,

beauty,

The God has shown me ,

life, And Earth, and Air,

And Fire, and Water,

Teach me what is right.

And Spirit in its mystic ways,

Teaches me about myself.

That I am a Witch.

New Moon Spell To Heal A Broken Heart and Start Anew

New Moon Spell To Heal A Broken Heart and Start Anew

Here is a ritual for healing a broken heart, ending a dying relationship and starting anew.

Moon Phase: New

Cast and purify your circle. Call the corners. Invoke Aphrodite, the Goddess of Love. Clear yourself of all thoughts; open up for your magick.

Say this chant, as many times as you feel you need to:

“Oh, Goddess, take my pain
Steady as a falling rain
Give me courage to end the end
Give me a chance to start new again
Help heal all broken hearts
So that we may easy part
Oh Goddess let my will be done
With no harm to anyone
Blessed Be!
So mote it be!”

Visualize yourself in your mind, happy, ending with ease and starting new and fresh. See new beginnings and happy times ahead for you, with no more pain.

Light black candles to repel negativity, a coral colored candle to help with heart break, and pink candles for relationships.

New Moon Birch Tree Love Spell

New Moon Birch Tree Love Spell

Birch: Known as Lady of the Woods, Paper Birch and White Birch.

Carefully gather strips of the bark at the New Moon. With red Doves Blood ink, write on a birch strip:

“Bring me true love.”

Burn this along with a love incense, saying

“Goddess of love, God of desire,
Bring to me sweet passion’s fire.”

The specific name of a god/goddess may be added. Or cast the bark into a stream or other flowing water, saying:

“Message of love, I set you free,
to capture a love and return to me.”

Remember: Do not use this incantation and ritual directed toward a specific person as that would violate the rule. If a love is to come to you, it must be of that persons free will to do so.

A New Moon Water Wishing Spell

And good to all,

So mote it be!”

New Moon Ritual

New Moon Ritual

Keep it Simple
What you need: a candleA ritual is a symbolic gesture that backs up your intent. At the New Moon, we enter the unknown dark, so rich and mysterious. It’s a powerful time to receive, and set intentions.

In the week before the New Moon, you can let it sit as a question in your mind, as you go about the day. See where it falls in your birth chart. What house? What planets does it engage with? This will bring out a stream of possible intentions.

What is the element of the Sun-Moon signs? Is this an element you’d like to activate more in your life?

Getting Clear:

  • Spend time resting and quieting the mind.
  • Hold it as a question before you go to bed; see if it comes up in dreams.
  • Notice where your attention goes.
  • Watch for synchronicity.
  • Divine an intent with your Tarot, angel or animal spirit cards.
  • Trust that it’ll come.

The GestureWrite down your intentions the day before the New Moon, or on the day itself. Suggestion: take a sharpie and write them on a 7-day candle. If you’re inspired, put a few meaningful totems, pictures, herbs or stones around it that relate to your intention.

Light it and be with your candle fully focused on your intention. Keep it on your desk, altar or mantle. Let it remind you and help you stay committed to your intention.

Your AlliesIf it feels right, ask for aid from angels, animal guides, ancestors, light beings and your own higher self.

When no intentions come:Think of the essence of what’s come up. It might be as simple as, “more fire, water, earth or air.” Or, the powerful act of surrendering to your highest good, and letting spirit do the rest.

Some affirmations:

  • I trust in the natural process of change, even if it takes me through the dark.
  • I let go of who I am, for who I am becoming.

New Moon Rituals

 New Moon Rituals

A Portal of Change

Rituals are a way to mark turning points in your life. They can be used to symbolically welcome changes in your life. They can be simple rituals or elaborate ones. The most important thing is your full presence in the moment.

The new Moon is a magical time of beginnings, when you can recharge goals, or set new ones.

Rituals bring meaning to our lives by “charging” an intention with power. We’re always setting intentions, and this is a way to do it in a more conscious way.

There is power in coming up with visions for your life, and keeping them in your sights as they come into being. But even as you fully commit to those visions, stay flexible, since new doors may open that you didn’t expect. At the new Moon, goals and wishes take root, as you reach out for spiritual wisdom, draw on unseen allies and open the door to magical change. You might get what you ask for, or something even better that you can’t imagine yet.

It’s important to come up with a ritual that has meaning for you, instead of trying to follow any set guidelines (unless you’re part of an established ritual group).

You’re the one that knows your personal story best, and what to lift out of that narrative, what will infuse your ritual with power. Here are some general guidelines to shape your rituals using the unique symbols and totems from your life.

Gathering your Sacred Supplies Your altar is where you collect your sacred objects — pictures, found objects and the like. Using herbs with healing or symbolic properties adds to your ritual.

Stones and crystals are another powerful ally. Candles are magical, and in its form contains all four of the elements. A small journal on hand allows you to keep a record of your intentions.

Preparing for the Ritual This is the most important part of ritual, since your commitment is the key. Take a ritual bath with sea salt to clear your field of any negative energies. Sage is an herb used by the Native Americans to clear a space, and make it sacred for ritual. It’s available in most health food stores these days, and easiest to use in its wand form. Light the end and blow on it until there is a smoldering glow.

Use it around your own body, and in the space of your ritual. Clear your mind with meditation, using music or just quieting down in your cleared, sacred area.

Grounding This is something that’s important anytime, for staying connected to earth energy. Signs that you’re not grounded are mania, nervousness, racing thoughts and the like. Too often we forget to feel the earth under our feet. I’ve mentioned Starhawk a few times on the site, and her tree grounding excercise is one of my own daily rituals. In a nutshell, it’s visualizing the roots going down into the Earth, through the layers, into the core, and then drawing that energy back up through your feet again. It moves through each chakra, coming out the top and down around you. Try this or another variation of grounding before you set new Moon intentions.

Your New Moon Wishes After you’ve cleared a sacred space and settled your energy, you’re ready to set your intentions. Make a list of what you’d like to draw into your life, and Dream Big! The new Moon is a moment to conjure what seems out of reach, and creating the vision is the first step to making it a reality. But these are not just words on paper. As you write them down as intentions, you are committing to doing your part to make them real. Some call it co-creating, since you’re opening to universal energies to set dreams in motion.

Dreams of the Soul Your intentions come from the longings that keep coming up. In the days leading up to the new Moon, give some thought to those longings, and see what images, dreams and streams of thought come up. Use symbolic associations to go along with your intentions. Weave in the element for the new Moon, and think about the houses and planets that are affected by it. For an earth new Moon, for example, you might plant seeds that represent your intention. Rituals are a way to work with universal energies, and draw attention to the particular life lessons, or arena (house, planet, etc) that it illuminates for you.

Symbolic Acts Here’s where you get to be creative. If your intentions are to write a book, or broadcast your ideas out to the world, tie them to a helium balloon and send them off. Write them on a stick and offer it to the fire. To open to love, put lavender and a rose quartz in a small pouch, along with the qualities you’re seeking. If you’re inspired, add a symbolic act to your intention-setting ritual.

Keep them Alive A big part of success with new Moon intentions is what comes after. Find ways to keep them in the front of your awareness. Put them in a visible spot, or keep them in your wallet. Make notes in your journal about your progress. At the full Moon , find ways to take action on those intentions, and celebrate any signs of change.

New Moon Magic

New Moon Magic

When the Moon is new, the Luminaries — the  Sun and Moon — are aligned in the same Zodiac sign.  That makes it a charged time with concentrated energies of that sign.  A New Moon is a symbolic point of attention, and a symbolic portal for new beginnings.

New Moons are a great time to set intentions for things you’d like to create, develop, cultivate, make manifest. There are many ways to initiate this communion with the Universe from lighting a candle to elaborate rituals.

What matters is that you’re committing yourself to your vision, and open to receiving guidance, healing, support from Spirit.

Why Follow the Moon?:

When you tune into the Moon’s phases, it’s reassuring to know that there are many chances during the year to tap into lunar energy. Like the tides, the Moon ebbs and flows, a rhythm that women understand intimately. New Moons are a blank page on which to speak your dreams out loud, and Full Moons are for taking action and celebrating the fruit of your efforts.

In the chaotic and temporal world, looking to something larger that is also part of yourself can fill you with awe and make you feel connected.

For whatever path you’re on, opening to working with planetary energies links you to the power of the divine.

Preparing for the New Moon:

It’s a good idea to spend some time reflecting in the days leading up to the new Moon. Knowing exactly what you want to draw into your life is not always easy. Part of preparing for the new Moon is making sure you are clear about your intentions. Sometimes it’s a quality you’d like to cultivate like forgiveness, courage — other times it’s a more specific request like a promotion at work or new place to live.

What is a new Moon Ritual?:

This depends on your personal tastes, the pace of your life and the time you have to devote to it. Some simply light a candle, while others gather objects and pictures for their altar. Lately, I’ve been writing my intentions on a 7-day candle and leaving it in a prominent (and safe) place. With a candle, you can return to it and relight it while meditating on your intentions.

Ritual helps focus your entire being on the quest at hand. In the days leading up to the new Moon, you might gather pictures and totems that symbolize your goal. Creating a New Moon collage gives you a visual reminder of your dreams.

What does it mean in each different sign?:

Every new Moon is different, and this gives you the chance to claim the energies of each different sign. Even if you don’t have planets in the sign for a given month, it falls somewhere in your birth chart. We each have elements of the entire Zodiac in our make-up, with some more emphasized than others. Find out where the new Moon falls in your chart for clues as to what to “call in” that month.

How is it different from the Full Moon:

The new Moon has a more inward feel, has a void or empty quality, and therefore can be frightening to those not comfortable with uncertainty. Can you learn to trust the dark? It’s the moment when the old passes away and the new is not yet here. That’s why it’s a powerful time for sending out your prayer, wishes, desires to the Universe.
