Whilst Venus spends the vast majority of this retrograde period in Leo, she actually shifts direction in Virgo. In this detail lies hidden the key to her entire retrograde journey: it’s all about the nuances, not the bigger picture. Venus in Leo is flamboyant and demonstrative, passionate and radiant, but in the subtle shaping hands of Virgo she knows that the most reliable self-confidence is born of detailed self-knowledge: familiarity with the twists and turns of one’s psyche and their influence upon our well-being and relationships. She naturally reaches out to connect, not within to detach. If we find ourselves isolated during this retrograde passage, disconnected from those with whom we seek intimacy, Venus encourages us to consider where we may have become so self-sufficient we believe we need nothing and no one. Such a belief is born not of a sovereign self but a besieged one, shielded by defensive walls built to avoid the vulnerability of need, dependency and desire. Venus invites us to wonder how we secured our isolation and how we could possibly need no one in a world of seven billion interdependent people. It is time to explore our dependency, to face the thoughts and feelings triggered when we recognise our very life rests in the hands of another. In truth we each hold the other in our hands, nourishing their blossoming or crushing their delicate unfolding petals with our own need to control. We each owe a huge duty of care to the other as much as to ourselves and must be willing to embrace each day the vulnerability of inter-dependency for our own well-being and survival.
Venus reminds us that self-reliance is only a strength when it enables giving and receiving in equal measure. We will need it in the coming months to ride the ups and downs of change and stand firm in the face of challenge which threatens to steer us off course. But we equally need others to ride alongside us, cheering each other on when the going gets tough, sharing supplies for the journey and each other’s dreams. We are not islands in a sea of self-protection but instead one life, living through each of us to nourish and nurture itself. As Venus journeys back through Leo she invites us to know ourselves as each other, to celebrate dependence and to honour the truth that we each hold the life of another in our hearts and in our hands.

Venus is going retrograde on July 25th, after a long stay in the Leo energies of radical self-love, Venus took a step into Virgo (the priestess), right there with the star Regulus which is the king star. That is a lot of “whoo hoo” right there. Added to this is that while Venus (backing into Leo) is re-evaluating her sense of self-love, self-worth and relationships, she is connecting with Jupiter (again), Mercury, the Sun and Mars. Also, by the end of this weekend there will be six celestial bodies in retrograde (turning inward and reevaluating). Other than Venus, we have Saturn, Pluto, Neptune and Uranus and Chiron.
Chiron in Pisces
Chiron has been in Pisces continuously since February 2011. Chiron has some affinity with Pisces through the connection to suffering. Pisces, in its negative pole, is willing to sacrifice itself (to suffer) to help others. Chiron, as the “wounded healer” is unable to avoid suffering because he has a “wound that can not be healed”. Accessing the negative side of this combination can lead to martyrdom and victimhood. There is, however, another potential with this combination. If we realize that Chiron is there to help heal Pisces and visa versa this can play out differently. To me, Pisces is a very spiritual sign embodying compassion and empathy. Everyone carries some kind of “wound”; a part of themselves that is not “perfect”. Pisces offers the non-judgmental understanding that creates the safe space of spontaneous healing that is needed.
The suffering in the negative pole of Pisces is due to over giving, giving selflessly. This kind of giving is fueled by the need for love and connection. So the ultimate wound of Pisces is feeling unloved and not connected. This is the pain of separation from Spirit/Creator. Chiron is the only healer that can really understand the Pisces wound, and so is the one who can ultimately heal it.
Chiron will be in Pisces (going through several retrogrades) until April of 2018. This core wound will be brought up for healing for more than two more years. We have time…
What does this all mean?
Be ready for a lot of “re” things, looking back again: re-evaluating, rethinking (more re-feeling), remembering, rehashing. Don’t forget that relationship is a “re” word. It is a rather intense period of looking at our relationships; with self, with spouse/lover, with family, with friends and with Creator, etc.
The end result will be having people and experiences around you that will support your feeling valuable and lovable, just because you are YOU!
Keep in mind that this probably will include releasing patterns and people who support the opposite, feeling less-than or somehow “wrong”.
Those of us who are on the vanguard of human evolution have had many opportunities to feel “wrong” and like we don’t fit in. If these memories and/or situation arise keep in mind that the point is for you to move past them and strengthen your sense of being valuable, lovable connected and “right”. Let the negative emotions of the past move through you, on the way OUT. Connect with people, places and things that support you being different in a really good way.

Tuesday and the Perfect Ritual – Mars’ Energy Ritual
Mars’ Energy Ritual
Try your hand at this fiery ritual for courage, passion, and winning battles. This ritual will take several days to complete, until the pillar candle burns all the way down. Also, personalize this spellwork by incorporating into it as many warm Marslike colors and other coordinating magickal correspondences as you can come up with. You just read an entire chapter devoted to Tuesday and Mars associations; here is your chance to flex your witchy muscles a bit and to show yourself what you have learned.
• 1 red pillar candle
• Coordinating-style candle holder (black wrought iron would be perfect)
• A nail or large pin to engrave the candle
• Any Mars-associated stones: red jasper, ruby, garnet, bloodstone
• A pinch of powdered garlic
• A pinch of allspice
• Your philter for courage and protection
• A lighter or matches
• A safe, flat surface on which to set up the spell
Take the nail and engrave the symbol for the planet Mars into the side of the candle. Take your time and make it look as nice as you can. Also, consider adding a bit of spice to this Tuesday ritual. Toss a pinch of powdered garlic in the candle holder to promote protection. Try adding a pinch of allspice to bring good fortune and success. You could also dig out a small hole in the top of the pillar candle and sprinkle the spices inside of it. Then, as the candle starts to burn, the hole will seal up with melting wax and eventually tually incorporate the herbs into the body of the candle. Or just place the candle on top of these powdered spices inside the candle holder, and you’re all set.
In addition, think about using the philter recipe from this chapter, and dress the pillar lar candle with it for some increased power. Set a few Mars-associated tumbled stones next to a candle holder containing the pillar candle-try a ruby for power and a red jasper to encourage protection and defending yourself.
Another suggestion would be to work with those pretty red glass marbles again, and arrange them on your work surface to set an enchanting mood. Take the time to make the spell candle setup unique and attractive. Put some effort into it if you want good, strong results. Light the pillar candle, and then repeat the following spell verse three times:

Let the candle burn until it is consumed; figure three to five days, depending on the width of the pillar. Make sure you have it in a safe place to finish burning, such as inside of an old metal cauldron or tucked into an unlit fireplace.
Please note: If you cannot leave the ritual candle safely burning, then snuff it out when you leave and relight it as soon as you are home. It may take a few days longer, but the magick will still turn out, especially since you are taking the time and energy to tend the ritual candle so carefully. As you relight the candle, say: As this ritual candle relights, so does my magick once more ignite.

A god, goddess, or planet governs each day of the week. It is usually easy to spot the ruler of the day by its name. The word Tuesday, however, is not so easy, but if we look at the word in Spanish, Martes, we clearly see its connections to Mars.
Because Tuesday revolves around the energy of Mars, Tuesdays are good for business, mechanical things, buying and selling animals, hunting, beginning studies, gardening, sexual activities, and confrontation. This is a day for sex magick, energy, stamina, and health. As in the old saying, Tuesdays child is full of grace, is also good for success magick and defense against enemies.
Angels of Tuesday are Camael, Samael, Satael, Amabiel, Friagne, and Hyniel. When invoked, Camael takes the form of a leopard. In Druid mythology he is a god of war, which is why we see him associated with Mars. Camael is said to be a member of the “Magnificent Seven” in some circles. Camael is another “terminator” angel.
Samael walks both worlds as a magician and sorcerer. some see him as the angel of death, others as “the bright and poisonous one.” Many consider him more of a demon, and accuse him of being Satan. However, there is reference to the satans (plural) as enforcers of the law, a sort of angelic police, if you will. Supposedly, when Samael is around, dogs howl in the night. On one hand, he is the ruler of the fifth heaven and in charge of two million angels; on the other, he is the one who changed into a serpent and convinced Eve to partake of the forbidden fruit of knowledge.
Satael is an angel of air invoked in magic rites and is the presiding spirit of the planet Mars. Amabiel is another spirit of the planet Mars; however he spends his energy on issues of human sexuality. Friagne, also an angel of this day, is invoked from the east. He is a member of the fifth heaven. Hyniel also belongs to this day and is subject to the east wind.
On Tuesdays the hour of sunrise and every eight hours after that are also ruled by Mars, and that makes these times of the day doubly blessed. These four hours are the strongest ones to do ritual in. Check your local newspaper, astrological calendar, or almanac to determine your local sunrise.

Good morning my dear brothers & sisters! How are you doing this morning? I hope super, I especially hope you are staying cool. It is hot, hot, hot here! But it is Summer so I shouldn’t complain (yeah right, lol!). I wanted to apologize for yesterday. In the middle of all the readings we do, we just stopped. We gave no rhyme nor reason for it, we just quit and I sincerely apologize. Most of you don’t know it but when I left Friday, I was on my way to town to go on a wonderful, guilt-free shopping spree. My happiness probably last for about an hour I would say. We have a four lane highway that takes us to town. That is the way all of us use. It has a total of three traffic lights on it. At the second traffic light, my side of traffic had stopped. There were three other cars stopped with me. All of them went through the light and when it was my turn, I was hit broad-sided from my passenger door all the way down the bed of the truck. The person no more stopped than a man in the moon. My head hit the window and I was knocked out. I remember seeing a fuzzy, big ended yellow car, flying like a bat out of hell going over the hill. When the police got there, they took my statement, tried to get me to go to the hospital. I had been knocked out, had my nose bleeding, my arm that had been in the sling puffed up like a grapefruit and my knee was beat all to hell. So my joyous shopping trip turned into a nightmare.
Now I know you are wondering what that has to do with yesterday. You see I only have liability on the truck. The door was crushed so bad it won’t even open. I have a friend who works at a garage down in the Western end. I called him, told him what had happened. He is a good mechanic and he has a man who works for him that does body work. They stay covered up. But when I talked to him, he did promise me if he had an opening yesterday he would call. So he did, I closed everything down and run. I ran so quick I think I left the other ladies’ heads a’spinning. They first tried to open the door, put it wouldn’t open. So now, he is going to have to find me a new door and a new bed for the truck. Which, thanks to the hit and run driver, I am going to have to pay for. I do have one thing in favor, my friend does a lot of wrecker calls. He told me if he found a yellow car with the front tore up, he would call me when he was through with them, lol!
It just goes to show you, you never know what life is going to throw at you. Me, mostly curve balls, but I have learned to live with them. If there wasn’t something constantly, I wouldn’t know what to do. I would be bored stiff. Now you know what happened yesterday, I am hoping and crossing fingers (not a good idea, hard to type that way), you cross your fingers that we get through the day without a major crisis.
