How the Moon illuminates your relationship with your mom
The Moon in Astrology represents the seat of your emotions and habit patterns. It will tell you a great deal about your instinctual nature, but will also give you valuable information about your mother and how you related to her. Your Moon sign, the house in which it’s placed in your birth chart and the aspects the Moon makes to other planets in your chart will describe an incredibly detailed story that tells the tale of how you experienced mom in your life.
Let’s say you were born with the Moon in Gemini in the 9th house of your horoscope. You might have related to your mother as someone who was intellectually insatiable, always reading and learning — possibly even teaching. Your mother was definitely always busy — maybe even too busy at times to pay enough attention to you. The intellectual experiences of your mom might have been focused on religious, spiritual or metaphysical matters (9th house). She might have literally been a professor or a published author, or someone who loved to travel.
Take another birth chart, with a different Moon and house placement — the Moon in Taurus in the 1st house. This person might have experienced mom as stubbornly independent (Taurus and the 1st house) or extremely concerned with self-preservation and taking care of the physical needs of herself and her children. Perhaps this person’s mother also encouraged him or her to express feelings rather than bottle them up (becuase the Moon is in the 1st house and all 1st-house planets are visible).

7/12 ~ Sun (source) ~square~ Uranus (radical shift):
This energy’s motto is “expect the unexpected”; this is a challenging and disruptive energy. However, keep in mind the morning after a storm – the air smells and tastes and feels BETTER. There is something inside you that you are holding back from full expression – what is it? Why are you holding back? This energy, while uncomfortable and perhaps, sudden, is very necessary to disrupt an illusions you may be trying to hold on to. You may have unreasonable restrictions placed on you or you are putting unreasonable restrictions on others in some way – either way, try to figure out the purpose. The suggestion here is that you need some AIR – you are restless and you are inclined to want to do something rash; it would be better if you just take a break, quit early and embrace this energy consciously. Otherwise, if you repress the need to get that air, you will create difficulties which could really affect your direction. No self-sabotage!! Pay attention and find an outlet for this pent up, stagnant energy.
7/13 ~ Mercury (ideas) ~trine~ Neptune (dreams):
This energy stimulates your creative process. You may be tempted to daydream but it is better to use that energy to investigate the deeper meaning of your current process. If you do get to talk to people about what’s on your mind, it is not the time for pragmatic analysis, but more a time to explore the infinite possibilities available to you. You may be more sensitive than usual, opening yourself to information that isn’t always that readily available. Pay attention and allow the information to flow – analyze it later – for now, just allow the ideas and information to come to you.
This energy can make you feel cool and reserved with loved ones. It is time to ‘take stock’ of your relationships and really evaluate the level of balance between giving and receiving. Business or personal – relationships must have a balance of give and take. You may feel more aware of your true independence in life – you cannot truly become “ONE” with anyone else. The goal is to become “ONE” within – integrating your human and Spirit selves in a healthy, balanced way. You may feel lonely or depressed but it’s just the Universe forcing you to face how you interact with others and how you allow them to interact with you. It’s good to periodically evaluate even the strongest relationship and check the foundation. Don’t give in to (ego-based) fears, focusing on the lack and limitation, acknowledge and honor the strengths as well – in your Self, in eachother and in the relationship. This is the best time to be alone and reflective because the insights you acquire through this process will help you in the future.
7/15 ~ Mars (desire) ~oppose~ Pluto (transformation):
This energy is higher will versus lower will. You may be forced to decide if the path you are on at this time is really going to lead you to the destination you originally chose. If you have been clear about your desires and willing to sacrifice, work hard (and consistently) this energy will activate a turning point. You will have access to energy and passion that propels you forward when based in love and light. However, if your ego has been leading, you may find yourself at an impasse. This energy is all about power and with that power comes great responsibility. Be very careful of abusing that power as it will likely backfire on you.
This is a good energy for getting to the bottom of any problem, especially between you and another person. This may involve a battle of wills with another person. Just try to remember when you force your will, rather than honor God’s will in your life, you create challenges for yourself. Someone may try very hard today to convince you of some truth that you would rather not accept, or you may do this to someone else. Beware of any attempts to persuade, because they can become the foundation of a very destructive or heated conflict between you and another person. It may be challenging to face things and get it all on the table to be dealt with, but when Pluto is involved, like it or not that is exactly what has to happen for you to get to the next level. And it may be that there aren’t any real grievances at all, but that one of you is trying to pull off a blatant power play. Don’t allow yourself to get talked into doing something you don’t really believe in. This energy is also good for getting at hidden and secret things, especially elements of yourself that you may have buried or avoided thus far. You should also be careful if you feel compulsive or obsessed by an idea today. Obviously this can be useful in certain circumstances, but most of the time it is not particularly helpful. If you become completely wrapped up in a difficult task that you are trying to finish, this transit is helpful. But you may be possessed by an idea that has no relevance to anything.
7/15 ~ Mercury (thoughts) ~conjunct~ Mars (energy):
I have to preface this with two things: (1) is when Mercury is involved, it is a relatively fast-moving energy. (2) is when Mars is involved, being the lower version of power (Pluto being the Higher version), reminds us that with power, also comes responsibility. Now, that all said, the positive expression of this energy is that you can control your mind and direct it with passion, getting tangible results. This heightens your intellectual ability and mental capacity (for better or worse). You will be able to clearly articulate your thoughts and you should have quick, effective responses. If you maintain your integrity, this is an excellent time to ‘fuel’ major creative expression. If this energy manifests is negative side, it can make you petty and combative, arguing over nonsense and wasting precious time and energy in ego control-dramas. And if it is not coming FROM you, it is just as possible to be coming AT you (from others). This is the best time to put your energy (Mars) behind your thoughts, ideas and words (Mercury). The power of this pairing is that they are occupying the same space, essentially energizing each other.
This energy provokes a lot of mental stimulation! If you are naturally flexible, this energy tends to make you get bored easily; if your are NOT naturally flexible, prepare to be aggravated. Relax if you can. The Universe may decide to remind you that YOU are NOT in control. And the more stubborn and inflexible you are, the more it will let you have it! Either way, it will be a fast pace. You will have electrical flashes of inspiration. Keep that going, but anything you begin or get into, be sure to check over the details next week as they will not be your priority this week. This week is for creative planning – next week you can figure out the logistics.
