A Couple of Suggestions for Making it Through Yule and the Religions Holiday Season

We are now in the most hectic time of all the year between Yule, Christian, Jewish, and other religions holidays. This is often times some may feel depressed, anxious, overwhelmed or just plain out of sorts. This is also the time of year it is so important to take a minimum of ten minutes a day for yourself. You need to make sure you are grounded and at least semi relaxed. An easy way to do this at home is to find a quote place take some deep breaths with your eyes closed, arms dangling lose at your sides and if you are sitting down feet flat on the ground or if you are standing up have legs spread about shoulder length apart. Imagine roots growing out of your feet through whatever you are standing on going deep into Mother Earth. Pay a quick visit in your minds eyes to a bit of running water imagine throwing all your worries and negativity into the water and it being swept away. Now take another couple of deep breaths, open your eyes slowly, get a refreshing drink of water and go on about your day. Remember this can be repeated as many times as you want or have time to every day.

  1. When you transgressed and only have a few seconds close your eyes take three deep, lung filling breaths letting each one out slowly and save the word “Relax” at the end of each exhale as you feel hypertension leave your neck, shoulders, and back.

Similarities Between Beltane and Samhain

I believe that the veil between the spirit plane and our plane is thin not only on Samhain but on Beltane also. Why you may ask yourself? Well, let me explain my theory and then decide for yourself if you agree or not.

Both Sabbats are fire festivals. Beltane for fertility and to bless the fields and livestock to produce a bountiful harvest and Samhain for celebrating the end of that bountiful harvest for the year.

As one is occurring in one hemisphere be it northern or southern, while the other is happening in the other one. So I feel the veil does not just thin out for one half of the planet it would be thin everywhere.

While one is celebrating Mother Earth waking up the other celebrates her going to sleep to restore herself.I

So what do you Beltane and Samhain may be two sides to the same coin or not?

May what you sow on Beltane give you a final bountiful harvest on Samhain!

While aid to help the survivors pour in or I’m a couple of areas trickles in, we are happy to see the help they are given. I’m the past fewer homes were effected by a raging wildfire then the currents ones. These humans and animals in California need our prayers and help just as much of not more than the hurricane and earthquake victims. Please do not misunderstand me I am not trying to minimize what any natural sister victim, human or animal, have and are suffering through; I just don’t want to see the wildfire victims be forgotten.

I’m California there are at least 36 humans that have crossed into The Summerland and thousands displaced. The total for most of these statistics…

High Priestess Raven Spirit Walker's avatarEnchanted Circle of Witches®

What is the Wheel of the Year, or Wiccan holidays, for those in the Southern Hemisphere?

It gets a little tricky, since Wicca was created in the Northern Hemisphere. Since it’s a nature religion, an Earth religion, this makes a big difference.

After all, a Midsummer ritual in the North happens in June.

In the South, though, this is midwinter!

So what does a Southern Witch do?

Celebrating Lammas

The year is 1100. The date is August 1. The monks in the abbey at Gloucester are celebrating the holy-day of St. Peter in Chains. One of the monks wakes from a strange dream in which God promises to strike down the wicked King who has abused the Holy Church. His superior, Abbot Serlo, on hearing of the dreams sends a warning to the King, William the Red, who has oppressed all of England with taxes and disgusted many with his licentiousness and blasphemy. Red, as he is called, receives the message the following day while preparing to indulge in one of his favorite sports, hunting, in the New Forest. Although there are no longer any people dwelling in the New Forest — they were all cleared out by Red’s father, William the Conqueror — there are rumors that it’s a hotbed of pagan activity. And August 2 is an important pagan holy-day. The Saxons call it Lammas, the Loaf-Mass. William the Red laughs at the warning from the monks and goes out hunting. A short time later, he is dead, struck in the chest by a stray arrow, and his brother, Henry, who was in the hunting party is riding hot-foot for Winchester and the crown.

Now some people say that William the Red was a Lammas sacrifice, …
