Li Ch’un, Chinese Festival of Spring
Li Ch’un means “to welcome back the Spring.” This annual nual Spring fertility festival is still celebrated in China. Bamboo boo and paper effigies of a water buffalo are carried through the streets to the local temple. Upon reaching the temple, the effigies are set on fire and prayers of the people are carried to heaven on the smoke.
