Healing: In general, Spinel is used to treat issues with joints, muscles and bones.Red, Blue and Green spinel is used to alleviate stress and to treat depression. Black Spinel is used to get to the source of ones dis-ease.
Magical Workings: In general, Spinel is a stone that can bring high energy to all efforts and all realms. Spinel is used to attract money, wealth and prosperity. It is also said to be a “Stone of Immortality”. It is said to help improve physical appearance, and help improve physical vitality.
Black Spinel is considered to be one of the top three protection stones. the other two are Blue Amber and Gel Sugilite. It is also helpful for those with issues of rage.
Blue Spinel is used to soothe and calm, bringing peace and transcendence.
Red Spinel is used to energize and strengthen.
Green Spinel facilitates healing, communication and wisdom.

The red color of spinel is dependent in large on the amount of iron content.
In the middle ages it was believed that if you touched with this gem the four corners of a house, orchard, or vineyard, they would be protected from lightning.
