    1. There are never any stupid questions, Jose. The Waxing Moon phase occurs 10 1/2 to 14 days after the New Moon. Then you have the First Quarter almost doing the same thing, occurring 7 to 10 1/2 days after the New Moon. Most people associate the Waxing Moon as being the same as the First Quarter. If you notice that the two phases do overlap. If you want to get down to brass tacks, then you would have to count the days after the New Moon. When you do this, you will be able to find the exact date the two phases become different. Like I mentioned, since there is so slight of a difference in the two, most people consider them the same phase. I hope I have answered your question. Remember there are never any stupid questions.
