Make peace with partners during the Tax Day Full Moon

Jeff JawerJeff Jawer on the topics of moon, lunar eclipse, libra, full moon, eclipse, astrology

Get ready for the Full Moon Lunar Eclipse on April 15, 2014 — a stressful lunation that will add relationship pressure to the financial pressure of Tax Day in the U.S.

The pacifying Libra Moon’s opposition to the Sun in headstrong Aries opens fresh perspectives on relationships. We may have an inclination to compromise, yet this event is a Lunar Eclipse that signals the need to release unnecessary patterns of accommodation.

Recognizing our range of choices from independence to co-dependence will provide more options on where we stand with others. If conflicts arise, looking at them more objectively will reduce tendencies to blame yourself and others, leading to more harmonious solutions.

Aries (March 21 – April 19)

This Full Moon lands in your 7th House of Partners, putting relationships in the spotlight. Yes, you may be expected to make compromises to satisfy someone, but don’t give up so much now that you will resent it later because this event is a Lunar Eclipse that’s more about letting go than holding on. In fact, the point is to engage in as honest and open a dialogue as possible. Just speak calmly and remain true to yourself instead of arguing or hiding your true feelings.

Taurus (April 20 – May 20)

Changes could be coming to your workplace and your daily routines. This purifying Libra Full Moon eclipse lands in your 6th House of Employment and Habits, which could trigger an awakening, a crisis or both about your job or physical well-being. Being more accommodating in professional relationships works best with an open mind and improving your diet and exercise practices should be done with moderation.

Gemini (May 21 – June 20)

Romance and creativity are dramatized with this lovely Libra Full Moon in your 5th House of Self-Expression. But it’s a Lunar Eclipse that can make you extra sensitive about the impression you make on others. The great gift of this lunation is having a more open mind. Clearer communication allows you to show your feelings and talents more gracefully, but fresh perspectives and brilliant ideas need to be shared diplomatically to avoid shocking others.

Cancer (June 21 – July 22)

Finding peace on the home front and within yourself are the potential rewards of this accommodating Libra Full Moon in your 4th House of Family. However, it’s also a Lunar Eclipse that may require you to let go of unresolvable domestic issues. Facing your own internal contradictions is a price to pay, but the reward is a greater understanding of yourself and a more enriching environment for professional growth.

Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22)

Conflicts may flare up with this Full Moon in your 3rd House of Communication. Yet this lunation, an eclipse in objective Libra, provides clear thinking and greater objectivity that will open your mind. Learning how to disagree in an agreeable manner can heal current relationships and make it easier to connect with and be understood by new people. Listening, as is often the case, is a key to tapping into these rewards.

Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sept. 22)

This Libra Full Moon eclipse in your 2nd House of Assets highlights money matters, self-worth issues and resources. You might be reacting to financial pressures or competition from an aggressive individual. The good news is you don’t have to dominate to win; all you need is to earn equal treatment. Slow down to think more strategically to avoid saying the first thing that comes to your mind, which could aggravate others.

Libra (Sept. 23 – Oct. 22)

This Full Moon in your sign is a Lunar Eclipse that can change the shape of your relationships. A fresh take on partnerships may come as a surprise, but it’s better to see the bigger picture than to stumble in the dark. A change of attitude, appearance and approach work well, along with a dash of imagination to make you feel more playful. Be the creator and initiator in your relationships, rather than putting others first and adjusting your needs.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21)

Making peace by letting go of the past is an excellent way to tap into the benefits of this pacifying Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Libra. It lands in your 12th House of Spirituality to provide the perspective needed to let go of old resentments and put relationships back on track. Quiet time is invaluable, as it will inspire creative ideas and reveal solutions that take pressure off of your daily life. Nature should be especially helpful in this healing process.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21)

You probably don’t like to ask for the support of others, but help from friends and colleagues could do you wonders now. This normally cooperative Libra Full Moon is an eclipse that lands in your 11th House of Groups, reminding you that sharing is about receiving as well as giving. There are limits as to how far you can go on your own and some objective feedback will keep you from wasting time and provide you with some extremely useful ideas.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19)

Professional matters may come to a head with this Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in your 10th House of Career. Changing your usual ways leadoff leading others so that you come across as less authoritarian will result from being a better listener. Cool down competitiveness, as cooperation will get you further at this time. Reach out to allies and partners who can help you advance at work if you’re feeling stifled with your current rate of progress.

Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18)

This logical Libra Full Moon in your 9th House of Travel and Higher Mind spurs travel and educational interests. Philosophical breakthroughs and new visions of your future are encouraged by this visionary transit. Yet as this is also a Lunar Eclipse, it’s wise to suspend final judgments and respect opposing points of view before pushing your beliefs on others. But if you do want to be convincing, being gracious will help you make your case.

Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20)

This Full Moon Lunar Eclipse occurs in your 8th House of Deep Sharing, where it can open your eyes about personal and professional relationships. Discussing your needs and getting a fresh start with others is essential in this objective and harmony-seeking sign. Romantic magic and financial windfalls don’t happen on their own, and may require more thinking than blind faith now. Making necessary compromises is appropriate — as long as you get your fair share of the pie.

Pluto Retrograde

Pluto Retrograde

Feel the effects of transformational Pluto’s dark side

Tarotcom StaffTarotcom Staff on the topics of retrograde planets, pluto, astrology

Sure, Pluto was demoted in astronomy back in 2006. But in Astrology, Pluto is one of the most unpredictable planets, and it will be even more unpredictable as Pluto goes retrograde in the serious sign of Capricorn from April 14 to Sept. 22, 2014.

At times, deep Pluto is a cosmic detective, determined to find the real story; other times Pluto is like an outspoken dinner guest who blurts out secrets and reveals hidden truths about everyone at the table.

When a planet goes “retrograde,” or, appears to be moving backwards through the sky, it often creates a “Bizarro World” of everything it stands for — communication planet Mercury Retrograde creates miscommunication, for example. But Pluto’s backward shift doesn’t make us confused, it makes us reflective. Instead of Pluto creating sticky situations in the outside world, it forces us to look inward.

First, it’s important to realize that Pluto was named after the Roman god of the underworld — aka, the land of the dead. Like its namesake, the planet Pluto rules over the shadow side of everything and everyone. So when Pluto is charged up and moving direct (forward), issues of corruption and buried stories may surface; we could learn that a politician has been taking bribes, a celebrity has been having an affair, or that a friend has been saying negative things about us behind our backs.

When Pluto brings out your dark side

So when Pluto goes retrograde, it forces us to focus on our own personal shadow sides — specifically, the unpleasant parts of our personalities that we may not really like. Two big themes that Pluto likes to highlight are power and desire. With Pluto retrograde, we’ll have to get honest with ourselves about how much we’re motivated by a need for recognition, money and authority.

At the same time, we might have to confront the darker sides of what we want; for example, are you working hard to get in shape because you are truly concerned about your health, or are you spurred by a desire for revenge on an ex who didn’t appreciate you?

With Pluto retrograde for five months, this period of personal reckoning allows us to do a lot of purging, too. Once we see traits in ourselves that we dislike, we can work to improve them. We can also revisit old hurts and hang-ups as Pluto sheds light on the darker corners of our experiences. In this way we can grow, which highlights Pluto’s key role in our lives: transformation.

Daily Cosmic Calendar for Monday, April 14th

After the astrological warnings of the past two days, now that Monday is here you should be well-prepared for an anything-goes kind of experience, right? Let’s hope so. Here’s the cosmically-inspired line-up for sky patterns affecting everyone on Earth: The Moon in Libra opposes Mercury in Aries (2:02AM); the Moon opposes Uranus (2:22AM); the Moon squares Pluto (3:09AM); Juno opposes Vesta (7:46AM); the Moon conjuncts Mars (9:01AM); Mercury squares Jupiter (11:33AM); the Moon parallels Venus (12:46PM); Mercury parallels Ceres (1:28PM); Mercury conjuncts Uranus (4:17PM); Pluto at 14 degrees of Capricorn becomes stationary (4:48PM and intensifying underworld-extremist Plutonic themes) and begins retrograde motion that lasts until September 22; the Sun is contra-parallel to Neptune (5:08PM); the Moon unites with Vesta (8:40PM); Mercury squares Pluto (9:14PM); the Sun trines Pallas (9:40PM); the Moon parallels Neptune (10:14PM); and the Sun opposes Ceres (10:38PM). This is definitely the largest number of alignments ever listed for a 24-hour entry in 32+ years of writing this calendar, and a couple of other minor aspects could have been included, too. Of course, it is possible that you can utilize some of today’s favorable geometric formations to your advantage — like the Moon parallel Venus, Mercury parallel Ceres, the Moon union with Vesta, the Sun trine Pallas, and even Mercury conjunct Uranus as well as the Sun opposite Ceres. Nevertheless, wisdom dictates that you remain cool and calm while many people are losing their tempers or acting irresponsibly. Every person who can rise to the occasion and play the role of Good Samaritan is a welcome addition to the core group of divine illuminators working behind the scenes to inspire our beleaguered planet. You may want to meditate this evening for world peace since the Full Moon and Total Lunar Eclipse happen very early tomorrow. [Note to readers: All times are calculated for Pacific Daylight Time. Be sure to adjust all times according to your own local time so the alignments noted above will be exact for your location.]

Total lunar eclipse, Mars close approach tonight

Total lunar eclipse, Mars close approach tonight

Celestial event peaks at 3:45 a.m. ET April 15

CBC News Posted: Apr 14, 2014 5:00 AM ET

A red moon will hang below a Red Planet in the night sky tonight, during a lunar eclipse that coincides with our closest approach to Mars in six years.

“This will be a great one for us. It’s very dramatic,” predicts Colin Haig, vice president of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada of the lunar eclipse scheduled to peak at 3:45 a.m. ET Tuesday.

During a lunar eclipse, the Earth casts its shadow on the full moon as it passes between the moon and the sun.

This eclipse will be a relatively rare total eclipse, when the moon is completely cloaked in the shadow.

The relative positions of the lunar eclipse, the planet Mars and the blue star Spica (not to scale) are shown in this illustration of the south-southwest sky early Tuesday morning. (Duk Han Lee/CBC)

“What makes this one special is the moon is going to end up in the darkest part of the Earth’s shadow,” said Haig.

That will cause it to dim and turn a dramatic red colour.

“Some people like to say it’s sort of a blood-red moon,” Haig said, “which has great emotional impact but it’s not really blood colour —  it’s more of a coppery colour.”

That’s because during a lunar eclipse, any light from the sun has to pass through the Earth’s atmosphere in order to hit the moon. And because the Earth’s atmosphere scatters blue light the most (the reason the sky looks blue during the day), most of the light that hits the moon and then is reflected back at us is red.

Lunar eclipses don’t happen during every full moon because the moon’s orbit around the Earth is tilted relative to the Earth’s orbit around the sun.

While lunar eclipses happen several times a year, each one can only be viewed from certain places around the globe, and in most cases, only part of the Earth’s shadow falls on part of the moon.

1 hour and 20 minutes

Another thing that makes tonight’s eclipse special is it will be visible across the whole country. Canadians who live west of Kingston, Ont., will be able to see the entire event, which will unfold slowly over an hour and 20 minutes. For those who live east of Kingston, the moon will set while it is still orange, before the end of the eclipse.

Besides the lunar eclipse, there is another celestial event of note tonight – the planet Mars makes its closest approach to Earth in six years, just 96 million kilometres away. That means it will also be close to its biggest and brightest. appearing above and to the right of the moon by about nine degrees during the eclipse, Haig said.

The Red Planet will look like a reddish orange star, Haig said. But unlike a star, it won’t twinkle.

The red moon will also contrast sharply with the bright blue star Spica in the constellation Virgo, which will be just below the moon and to the right.

All that may make for some nice photos.

Haig says you’ll be able to capture the moon with just about any camera, but he recommends using a “modest” telephoto lens of at least 200 millimetres. He suggests taking a series of photos at intervals of about five minutes.

“You’ll have a nice mosaic of the event as the moon works its way across the sky.”

Tonight’s lunar eclipse kicks off a tetrad — a group of four total lunar eclipses over the next two years. The next ones are:

  • Oct. 8, 2014.
  • April 4, 2015.
  • Sept. 28, 2015.

But Haig warns that tonight’s eclipse will likely put on the best show for Canadians, as the next one won’t be visible in eastern Canada.

Current Moon Phase for April 14th – Full Moon

Full Moon

(waning/100% of Full)

A veil of self-absorption is lifted and suddenly you gain access to an unbiased view of others. This is a rare moment when you can see yourself objectively and become aware of whether or not what you want in your heart is actually beginning to manifest in your life. Traditionally, the Full Moon phase stirs emotion, and this is because when you “see” what is happening, you may become upset if you’re experiencing the “same ole, same ole” — rather than the things you would like. If the Full Moon phase is a disappointment, on the next New Moon it’s time to take creative action in the direction of your dreams.

 Full Moon Oil

13 drops of sandalwood essential oil

9 drops of vanilla essential oil or extract

3 drops of jasmine essential oil

1 drop of rose essential oil
Mix prior to a full moon. Charge in a clear container or vial in the light
of the full moon. Use to anoint candles or yourself for full moon rituals
or just when you feel like you need the moons energy.

Tonic waters containing the energies of the moon embody very powerful healing benefits that bring about integral balance and wholeness throughout the body, mind and soul. Clear quartz crystal catalyses the absorption of lunar energies as well as amplifies the healing benefits.

Wait for a clear night, preferably on or right before the full moon. Put your crystal in a clear glass and cover with one cup of purified water. Check an almanac for the exact time of sundown on the day you have chosen.
At sundown, place the glass out of doors in a moonlit place (cover the glass with clear plastic wrap). Remove the glass at dawn. The water is now filled with lunar potency.
Drink the moon water every morning to prepare your body, mind and spirit for the stress of the day.

The Wiccan Book of Days for April 14th – The Rune Of Man

April 14th

The Rune of Man

The runic half-month of Mannaz (or Man) begins today, and its last day will fall on April 28th. As its name indicates, this rune means “man,” and it may be interpreted on the one hand as signifying a male person, and on the other, as referring to mankind or humankind. Different interpreters put a different gloss on the meaning of the rune, with some saying that it points to the self, and others, that it highlights how the individual relates to the wider human community. And yet another view is that Mannaz denotes defense, especially of the human race collectively.

Heartening Hyssop

If you are feeling vulnerable to attack, fortify yourself with a herb that grows under mighty Mars’s protection, namely hyssop. Inhaling the essential oil will strengthen your immune system and will lift your spirits if you are feeling down.

Wishing You & Yours A Very Glorious & Blessed Monday!

Days Of The Week Comments

I call upon You, Sisters Three,

You Who sit beneath Life’s Tree,

Bless and watch over me this day.

These things of You, I ask and pray.

Mighty Clothose, You Who spin

The thread and yarn of life on whim,

Grant my thread be soft, yet strong

And the essence of my own life’s song

Mighty Lachesis, You Who weave

And measure the cloth of life with ease

Weave my life beautifully

With color and texture for all to see.

Mighty Atropos, You Who slice

Life’s fabric and thread with a snip precise,

Grant me now another day

To return to thank You–this I pray.

Mighty Ones, Oh Sisters Three,

You Who sit beneath the Tree,

For each day I awaken to

Accept the thanks I offer You!

Extra, Extra, Read All About It!

Extra, Extra, Read All About It! I have got some great news for all my brothers and sisters. I know I haven’t been seen all weekend. But I have a great excuse for that. I have been a busy little bee. Over the weekend, I decided that we needed a little place to go and relax every now and then. So I went and created a little page just for that purpose. It is called the “Witches Rec Room.” It has tons of information on it. You can read anything from today’s Deity to the Article of the Day. It also has tons of games on it (I should mention the games will be updated each month). I have one in particular I love to play. But it meant to be a place to go and relax after you have visited this site. Or if you are just particularly having a bad day, go visit it. It will surely pick you up.

I hope you enjoy this new section of our site. I know I enjoyed creating it that’s for sure. There will be a tab for it at the top of the page. Then when I catch my breath, I am going to put a banner up for it. So go, look, have a good time, just don’t forget to come back here, lol!

Love Ya,

Lady A
