Pisces, the Fishes

The zodiacal month of Pisces begins around now. Although sign of the Fishes was once governed by Jupiter, the discovery of the planet Neptune, named for the Roman god of the sea, prompted its reassignment to this eminently appropriate new planetary ruler. The piscine pair’s element of water is equally apt, while its polarity is feminine, or negative, and its quadruplicity is mutable. All of these astrological influences is said to make Piscean people idealistic, dreamy, sensitive, compassionate, introverted, receptive, versatile, and restless.

Start boosting your intake of beneficial fish oils during the zodiacal month of the Fishes. The omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids found in oily fish (and fish-oil supplements) are believed to protect against heart disease and cancer, and to alleviate certain inflammatory skin conditions – and that’s just for starters!

The Sun’s entry into the last sign of the zodiac is a step into synthesis. Its presence in Pisces reminds us that the walls that keep us apart from one another are merely illusions. We are all one in the sea of consciousness where the Fishes swim. This oceanic state can be confusing, of course, since we rely on boundaries to maintain our individual identities. Rather than reinforcing barriers to sustain them or tearing them down completely, adding flexibility to the ego lets us seamlessly flow together and drift apart as desired. Reconnecting with spirituality, nature and one another are its sweetest rewards.
