Mockingbird

Mockingbirds are master imitators, and can mimic the calls of many other birds. They’re also fearless protectors of their nest, and will attack any bird (no matter how large) to protect their young. Mockingbird’s lesson for you today is twofold: to listen to how you might be mimicking others—instead of listening to your own true voice; and to examine the value of what you defend. Hmmm?

‘THINK on THESE THINGS’ for December 30

‘THINK on THESE THINGS’
By Joyce Sequichie Hifler

Henry David Thoreau, whose cry was “Simplify! Simplify!” went to great measures to prove to himself, and perhaps to society, that life could be lived in the most simple manner and at the least expense. With only a few dollars he managed to provide for himself the things of absolute necessity for quite a long period of time.

Not many of us would care to exist on the absolute necessities. We have become too much accustomed to easier living. Things that were once thought of as luxuries are now considered necessities. And yet, with all of this, life is anything but simple. We seem to have the ability to complicate the best laid plans and find ourselves shadow boxing.

Like many of the trite old adages, “Life is what we make it,” is so true. By our own minds we accept or reject, by ignoring or by searching out the causes of shadows and removing the cause. It is whatever we elect to do about our individual lives that makes the difference. But we shall make great strides when we recognize the supreme excellence in all things of simplicity.

We don’t need to worry about doing without the necessary things in life – if we have a grateful heart. A grateful heart is not just remembering to write a few words to someone who has done a kindness, or saying thank you graciously and at the right moment. A grateful heart is the feeling of great blessings which precedes that thank you note and that verbal expression.

A grateful heart is one that always knows the fullness of that rich feeling of first being grateful without cause. And then, all other gratitude and its expression comes naturally.

Perhaps true gratitude is a grateful though toward heaven that I should be chosen to fill this spot, do this work, and have been given the strength to do it.

It was Romaine, the English theologian, who said, “Gratitude to God makes even a temporal blessing a taste of heaven.” We can have so much more heaven with a grateful heart.

Your Animal Spirit for November 21 is The Badger

Badger

Badger is a ferocious opponent, unwilling to back down over any issue. Unfortunately, this unwavering stance leads some Badgers to their demise. If Badger has dug into your reading, he is asking whether you are fighting the right fight. Is this issue the hill you’re willing to die on, or are you fighting for no other reason than pure stubbornness?  Think about it.

Today’s Affirmation, Thought & Meditation for April 25

Today’s Affirmation for Wednesday, April 25th

I juggle the demands of my life with grace, catching balls that give me purpose and putting down, without guilt or anxiety, those that drain my energy.

Today’s Thought for Wednesday, April 25th

“Do not be too moral. You may cheat yourself out of so much of life. So aim above morality. Be not simply good, be good for something.”

Henry David Thoreau (1817 – 62)

Today’s Meditation for Wednesday, April 25th

Karmic Law

Within many wisdom paths is the belief that life is governed by Karma – the spiritual law of cause and effect. This law states that our actions in this life dictate the rewards we will receive in the next. Close your eyes and spend a few minutes considering how your actions impact on your own life and the lives of those around you. How would your life differ if you strived to be kind, generous and thoughtful at all times? Good Karma depends upon pure intentions, so it is important to try to release any thoughts of self-gain as a result of your good actions. Resolve that from now on you will make an effort to respond to all situations, whether easy or difficult, with consideration for others and generosity of spirit.

Yahoo! It’s Thursday! I’m so excited here’s today’s affirmation, thought & meditation!

Today’s Affirmation for Thursday, April 19th

The well-worn path is comfortable and easy; but leads nowhere. The less-travelled path is stony and hard, but will bring me to peace.

Today’s Thought for Thursday, April 19th

To give of one’s self, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch, or a redeemed social condition — to know that even one life has breathed easier because you have lived — this is to have succeeded.

Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803 – 1882)

St Patrick's Day Comments
Today’s Affirmation for Saturday, March 17th

I have a wealth of knowledge and talents. Each day I spend some time in quiet contemplation to allow these riches to emerge.

Today’s Thought for Saturday, March 17th

“The world is but a canvas to the imagination.”

Henry David Thoreau (1817 – 62)

Today’s Meditation for Saturday, March 17th

Draw Spontaneously

Give yourself free rein to draw whatever images suggest themselves to you. Try not to censure what comes, simply express whatever surfaces from your consciousness. Now spend some time meditating on the images that you have drawn. In doing so, you may discover a deeper level of self, authentically expressed in the drawing.

If you are feeling adventurous, paint spontaneously or use another artistic medium, such as clay, to express yourself.

Daily Motivator for November 15th – Great courage

Great courage

You have great courage. Use it.

Whenever you feel fear, you are also feeling your potential for courage. Go ahead, feel the fear, and then let that courage of yours spring to life.

The fact that you can feel the fear means you also have the courage to get beyond it. Otherwise, the fear would serve no useful purpose.

Put that fear to good use by allowing it to ignite your courage. Put that courage to good use by utilizing it to move toward positive, meaningful objectives.

Feel the fear and know it means you have the courage. Learn from that fear and then step forward with all that courage.

The beginning of courage feels like fear. Follow through on that feeling, let the courage come, and with it you will achieve great things.

— Ralph Marston

The Daily Motivator

Hello World! How Are You?

Does the penguin do it or not? Stay tuned as the story develops…..Have you ever flipped the TV channels during the day? There is murder everywhere you look, then you have this wife in bed with her best friend’s husband……..I mean really! Now the top story is the Casey Anthony story. I have to admit I did follow the case some. Like most of America, when the verdict came down I was shocked to say the least. Everytime I walked by the TV and her picture was on there I would say, “Fry the &itch!” Which in my opinion the jury clearly didn’t do their job and let a guilty woman walks. But who am I to say, I am just a lowly witch 😦 But I have talked about it with others and we all wonder is America just becoming more violent or do we have more access to the violence? In Desert Storm, we got to ride into Bagdad with the troops. I wonder if we had got to go with the troops of WWII, would our troops have been there that long? All the killing of Americans, laying in gutters, out in the middle of the streets. I can answer that “Hell, no!” We would insisted our troops be pulled out immediately. My point with this, we won’t put up with our troops dying in combat but we will tolerate some poor infant dying at the hands of her mother. We will watch on TV as a slain man lays in the street died, covered up by a white sheet, or a woman out in a field died. Why? What point does it serve killing another person? Why do we put up with such violence on TV? What kind of world is our children growing up in with violence everywhere? Where are our morals? Do we not value human life anymore? What has happened to us as a country? You know it only take one person. One person to say enough, enough with the killing, enough with the violence! If nothing else, we can write our TV channels and tell them we are sick of the violence. We are sick of the violence all day long. We want wholesome programs for our kids. If a child is to watch a show appropriate for them, then they have to get up at 5:30 a.m., every morning to see it.  Then the programs last for 2 hours and that’s it. The rest of the day is violence, sex, more violence and more sex. Something has to give. This country is out of control and we need to take some of it back. The TV channels are as good of a place as any to start. If each one of us wrote a letter and tell these channels to stop the violence all day. To change their programming just a little bit and believe me they could if they wanted to. Then I think a couple of thousand letters would make a difference. If you would like to start to take back control of this country by starting with the TV stations, then I will get you the address to write too. I know you might think it wouldn’t do any good but if we all band together and take a stand, a start, it will. As the old saying goes, “There is a lot more of us than you think,” let’s show’em how many of us there really is? Write those letters. Not for us but for our children.

NOTE: Because of the large number of ancient calendars, many in simultaneous use, as well as different ways of computing holy days (marked by the annual inundation, the solar year, the lunar month, the rising of key stars, and other celestial and terrestrial events), you may find these holy days celebrated a few days earlier or later at your local temple .
