Magical Days Of the Week – Tuesday

Magical Days Of the Week – Tuesday

Named for the Norse god Tyr, who was a deity of heroism and combat, Tuesday is a very martial sort of day – color associations include bright red and oranges, as well as warrior-like metals such as iron and steel.

The ancient Romans called this day Martis, after the warrior god Mars – other deities associated with Tuesday include Ares, the Morrighan, and other gods of battle and glory. Red gemstones like rubies and garnets come into play on Tuesdays, as do herbs and plants such as thistles, holly, coneflowers and cacti – you’ll notice these are all sharp, prickly plants!

One of the interesting – and more than a little amusing – aspects of Tuesday magic is that in addition to war and conflict against your enemies, this is a day also associated with marriage. You can also use this day of the week for magical workings connected to protection and initiation. Use Tuesday to assert yourself, make a mark and stake your claims.

Tuesday’s Witchery

Tuesday’s Witchery

Tuesday is the day to work any magick that falls in the category of increasing strength, courage, bravery, and passion. All of these intense emotions are linked to this day’s energies, and spells designed around these themes will have extra punch when performed on this magickal day.

So, let’s add a little passion and conviction into your life! Break out the daring red pieces of your wardrobe, and put a little pizzazz into your day. Work with Lilith, and see what she has to teach you about personal power and sexuality. Meditate on Tiw/Tyr and Mars, and see what those ancient warrior gods will show you about new tactics, strategies, and claiming personal victories in your life. Practice conjuring up that astral weapon from the meditation and use it wisely for protection and for courage.

Create a philter for courage and protection or handcraft your own Witch’s jar to remove negativity from your home. See what other Witch crafts you can conjure up with Tuesday’s magick. Create some kitchen magick on this Tuesday by whipping up a spicy stew-add in a few Mars-associated ingredients such as carrots, peppers, and garlic. Empower the stew for success, and then treat yourself and your family to a good, hearty meal. Try working with a little aromatherapy and burn some spicy or coffee-scented candles to increase your energy level.

Check the sky at night, and see if you can find the reddish planet Mars up in the heavens. Not sure where to look? Check an astronomy magazine or search the Web for more information. Become a magickal warrior and move forward in your life with strength, courage, and compassion. Embrace the side of yourself that loves a good challenge and that is passionate and daring! Banish fear, and face your future with strength and conviction. Believe in yourself and in your dreams, work hard, and you will win every time.

The Witches Tuesday

Witchy Comments

The Witches Tuesday

Tuesday is the day of the week between Monday and Wednesday. The name comes from Middle English Twisday, from Old English Tiwes dæg, named after the Nordic god Tyr, who was the equivalent of the Roman war god Mars

In Latin, it is called Martis dies which means “Mars Day”. In Romance languages except Portuguese, the word for “Tuesday” is similar to the Latin name: mardi in French, martes in Spanish, martedì in Italian, dimarts in Catalan, and marÅ£i in Romanian.

Portuguese uses numbers instead of pagan names and so their word for “Tuesday” is terça-feira.
The English and Scandinavian names are derived from the Nordic god Týr:

Old English: Tiw, Tew, or Tiu
Swedish: Tisdag
Danish: Tirsdag
Norwegian: Tirsdag or Tysdag
Icelandic: Týsdagur
Finnish: Tiistai (borrowed)

The German word Dienstag and the Dutch word Dinsdag seems to be derived from the god referred to by the Romans as Mars Thingsus, the god of the thing, which might also be Týr, or possibly some other Germanic god.
The Russian word for “Tuesday” is vtórnik, meaning “second”; that is, counting Tuesday as the second day of the week.

Quakers traditionally referred to Tuesday as “Third Day” eschewing the pagan origin of the English name “Tuesday”. This has also been the custom in Iceland since about the 11th century when Jón Ögmundsson changed it to Þriðjudagur, meaning “Third Day”

In the Greek world, Tuesday (the day of the week of the Fall of Constantinople) is considered an unlucky day. The same is true in the Spanish-speaking world, where a proverb runs En martes, ni te cases ni te embarques (On Tuesday, neither get married nor begin a journey). For both Greeks and Spanish-speakers, the 13th of the month is considered unlucky if it falls on Tuesday, instead of Friday.

The Hindi/Bengali/Nepali/Gujarati/Punjabi/Marathi/Urdu word for Tuesday is Mangalwar, with Mangal being the Sanskrit name for the planet Mars.

In the Thai solar calendar, the day is named for the Pali word for the planet Mars, which also means “Ashes of the Dead”; the color associated with Tuesday is Pink.

Tuesday is the usual day for elections in the United States. Federal elections take place on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November; this date was established by a law of 1845 for presidential elections (specifically for the selection of the Electoral College), and was extended to elections for the House of Representatives in 1875 and for the Senate in 1914. Tuesday was the earliest day of the week which was practical for polling in the early nineteenth century: citizens might have to travel for a whole day to cast their vote, and would not wish to leave on Sunday which was a day of worship for the great majority of them.

In business, particularly office work, studies have shown that Tuesday is usually the most productive day of the week. Some of these people consider Tuesday to be their least favorite day, because they are not as relaxed as Monday (due to the weekend preceding it), yet they still have most of the work week ahead of them.

In French, Tuesday is “Mardi”, associating it with the planet Mars. Tuesday is also associated with the dwarf planet Pluto. This marries Tuesday with ideas of strife, battles to be won and pressing issues and jobs to get sorted. It is not a day to relax. This same meaning can be seen in the Spanish “Martes” and the English “Tuesday” (“Tyr’s day.”) In India, Tuesday is called “Mangalvar”, for the Vedic planet Mangala or Mars.

On Tuesday, July 19th, We Celebrate….

Biding of the Wreaths (Lithuania)

LAIMA

Themes: Love; Unity; Blessing; Luck; Destiny; Magic

Symbols: Wreaths; Swans

About Laima: The Lithuanian goddess of fate, luck, beauty, and magic swoops into our lives in the form of a swan, reminding us of the transformative power of love. Traditionally, all Laima needs to change from one form to another is a swan feather, alluding to her nature as a shape-shifter who uses magical charms to manifest her will.

To Do Today: Around this time of year, young people in Lithuania gather in a temple at sunset, then go into the forest to harvest summer flowers. From these, circlets and strings are made to crown and bind lovers together in Laima’s and nature’s beauty. Then the young people dance together round a birch tree (rather like a Maypole) singing to the goddess and asking for her blessing. This is a lovely tradition that can be adapted by gathering summer flowers and holding hands around them at your family supper table. Allow Laima to renew your love and unity in a moment of silence before dinner. If you live alone, invite a close friend to join you instead.

Also, find a small rose-vine wreath at a craft shop. Adhere the image of a swan to this somehow (representing Laima), and hang it where you can easily see the wreath regularly. Each time you do, remind yourself that love is the most powerful of all the goddess’s magic—and that includes loving yourself!

Moon Diary: Full Moon in Capricorn, 19th July 2016: We are Family?

Witchy Comments

Moon Diary: Full Moon in Capricorn, 19th July 2016: We are Family?

By Jane Lyle

July’s full Moon rises at 27 degrees of ambitious, security-minded Capricorn. Traditionally, it highlights money, practical matters, and status. And yet this one is also volatile, erratic, and signifies an ongoing atmosphere of endless questions too.

Every full Moon brings things to a head. Often these relate to projects, or trains of thought, that began with the new Moon – in this case, that powerful Cancer new Moon on 4th July. Some of our full Moon vacillations are linked directly to that time, and what we started or experienced then. It’s a useful moment to review things, but it would be wise to wait a while before making final decisions. This full Moon’s themes last until the following new Moon on 2nd August, in Leo.

Deeply emotional energies flow, courtesy of Mars in intense Scorpio aspecting the full Moon. Strong passions, reckless acts, or dramatic outbursts are directly connected with our needs for security in relationships, in our families, and in our nations and neighbourhoods.

Sun in Cancer and Moon in Capricorn conjure up parental figures, authority, and the whole notion of family – from your parents right through to people you think of as ‘family’, whether at work or in your private life. If there’s been any tension in these areas, then expect this full Moon to bring things out into the open. But perhaps not in quite the way you might expect. Eccentric, inventive Uranus, squaring the full Moon, promises to deliver unexpected thoughts, emotions, or events. Our feelings towards others can change now, or we discover something very surprising about them. Electrifying Uranus likes to shake things up.

Asteroid Chiron, frequently cited as a ‘wounded healer’, adds further interesting energy to this full Moon picture. Chiron was indeed wounded, but he was a teacher, and a wild-at-heart centaur too. Sometimes, this asteroid acts as a catalyst, a burst of off-the-wall feelings, thoughts, or experiences that serve to change our direction and attitudes. With Chiron, Mars, and the Sun in the three water signs there’s a lot of vital energy enhancing emotion, intuition, and creativity. If we can sidestep the push-me-pull-you atmosphere, we’ll find a little much-needed flow over the next two weeks.

This, like the Independence Day new Moon, is a meaningful, emotional Moon for the USA. It links with Pluto in America’s national horoscope, and stirs up many questions around power, energy resources, mining, and security. Sadly, there’s already violence and civil unrest, and there’s a strong likelihood of more. It is also a significant full Moon for France and Spain, amongst other locations

The Cauldron Chant

Witchy Comments

The Cauldron Chant

We form the Circle,
The Circle most round.
We form the Chalice,
The Chalice now found.

We call the Goddess,
to meet the great need.
We call the God,
To plant His fertile seed.

We call the quarters,
which we call four.
We summon the powers,
that contain the force.

We stir the Cauldron,
from which we were born.
We call the Gods,
from whom we were torn.

We say the words,
which lead us round.
We pass the kiss,
with our lovers found.

We face our dreams,
in nights psychic flight.
We face our hopes,
in bright moon of the night.

We face our fears,
on the Dark Lords Horn.
We face our failure,
in the Mothers new planted corn.

We live our lives,
druming and dancing on the meadow.
We confront our Death,
in the dancing moon light shadow.

Our paths run quickly,
on fleet foot and wing.
Our Circle is joyous,
with our Queens and our Kings.

Let our little Circle be happy,
with Bell, Bowl or Bow.
And form now this Circle,
with gracious Love, Joy and Hope.

Blessed Be

It Is Tuesday, July 19th & I Would Like To Talk To You For A Minute

Blessed Be Comments
I haven’t had the opportunity to speak with you in several months. I feel comfortable in doing so now because Lady A has taken a few days off, which she deserves. She was up last night at 3:00 having chest pains. We tried to get her to go to the hospital but she refused. Upon my insistence, she is taking a few days off to rest and relax.

I come to you today out of love and concern for Lady A. We all know she had a very tragic loss recently, her beloved Kiki passed. Kiki wasn’t your average familiar, she was Lady A’s blood familiar. Most witches don’t know the cost of taking a blood familiar but the witches from the hills do. A part of the witch goes with that familiar when they pass. It is very, very difficult and it takes time to recover from such a loss. I wasn’t here when Kiki was buried but my brother was. They buried Kiki and Lady A put some very personal items in the grave with her. These personal items can be very dangerous if too personal and the ones Lady A put in her grave were. It would be easy to break this hold and bond between them if I could only dig up the grave. I know that sounds horrible but it might save Lady A’s life if I could. My stupid brother poured a concrete slab over Kiki’s grave. I have no way of getting to those items to break the bond. In fact, he only told me about these items recently. These items could pull Lady A over to the other side with Kiki. I am not lying to you, I am telling you the truth.

I contacted an Elder from the hills and talked to her about the situation. She agreed it was a very serious situation especially since Lady Abyss is our High Priestess. We can’t afford to lose her and we won’t. The only solution we could come up with is to find our High Priestess another familiar to direct her love towards. I have been working ever since I found out about what was in that grave to find another familiar. I got word this morning that I have access to one. He is a rescue dog and we will be saving his life and Lady A’s at the same time. I have put his picture below for you to see him. I believe she will fall in love with him even though he is not her Kiki. She knows as well as I do, nothing can replace Kiki. I can’t stand by and watch her give up on everything and everybody. I can’t, I love her. When Kiki passed, Lady A just seemed to give up on everything. I have never seen her like this and it is breaking my heart.

It is my sincere hope when she sees this little ball of fur that perhaps the old Lady A will return to us. The rescue organization I am getting the little pup from is willing to ship him directly to our door. The only problem is I am running a bit short on cash. I was laid off from one of the local plants and draw unemployment right now. My brother has had to hire people to watch his farm while he is down here. So we are all just a little tight on funds. I know Lady A has the raffle going on right now but this is more important than the raffle. We need your help in getting this little fella to our doorstep. We are hoping that we will be saving not only one life but two. Anything you can do to help will be appreciated.

2016’s Lammas/Laughnasdh Ritual for Online Coven Gathering

This year ritual is borrowed from Patti Wigniigton on About com. To read all the information for this please click on the following link: http://paganwiccan.about.com/od/lammas/ht/LammasSacrifice.htm

I am sorry for taking an easy way out but because of pain from a medical problem, I have been unable to write one for us this time. There will be only a circle cast this time and no Watchtowers. Some traditions of The Craft do not call the Watchtowers.

Remember ALL Pagans are welcome to attend.

How To Hold a Lammas Harvest Ritual”

In some Pagan traditions, Lammas is the time of year when the Goddess takes on the aspects of the Harvest Mother. The earth is fruitful and abundant, crops are bountiful, and livestock are fattening up for winter. However, the Harvest Mother knows that the cold months are coming, and so she encourages us to begin gathering up what we can. This is the season for harvesting corn and grain, so that we can bake bread to store and have seeds for next year’s planting.

This ritual celebrates the beginning of the harvest season and the cycle of rebirth, and can be done by a solitary practitioner or adapted for a group or coven setting. Decorate your altar with symbols of the season — sickles and scythes, garden goodies like ivy and grapes and corn, poppies, dried grains, and early autumn foods like apples. If you like, light some Lammas Rebirth incense.

Have a candle on your altar to represent the Harvest Mother — choose something in orange, red or yellow.

These colors not only represent the blaze of the summer sun, but also the coming changes of autumn. You’ll also need a few stalks of wheat and an un-sliced loaf of bread (homemade is best, but if you can’t manage, a store-bought loaf will do). A goblet of ritual wine is optional. Also, if you have celiac disease or are otherwise sensitive to gluten, be sure to readCelebrating Lammas When You Eat Gluten-Free.

If your tradition requires you to cast a circle, do so now.

Light the candle, and say:

The Wheel of the Year has turned once more,
and the harvest will soon be upon us.
We have food on our tables, and
the soil is fertile.
Nature’s bounty, the gift of the earth,
gives us reasons to be thankful.
Mother of the Harvest, with your sickle and basket,
bless me with abundance and plenty.

Hold the stalks of wheat before you, [You can print a pictur of wheat stalks from an online picture] and think about what they symbolize: the power of the earth, the coming winter, the necessity of planning ahead. What do you need help planning right now? Are there sacrifices you should be making in the present that will be reaped in the future?

Rub the stalks between your fingers so a few grains of wheat fall upon the altar [Cut the picture into small pieces]. Scatter them on the ground as a gift to the earth. If you’re inside, leave them on the altar for now — you can always take them outside later. Say:

The power of the Harvest is within me.
As the seed falls to the earth and is reborn each year,
I too grow as the seasons change.
As the grain takes root in the fertile soil,
I too will find my roots and develop.
As the smallest seed blooms into a mighty stalk,
I too will bloom where I landed.
As the wheat is harvested and saved for winter,
I too will set aside that which I can use later.

Tear off a piece of the bread [From your own loaf or slice of whole wheat, if you eat it or feed the rest to the wildlife,]. If you’re performing this ritual as a group, pass the loaf around the circle so that each person present can take off a small chunk of bread. As each person passes the bread, they should say:

I pass to you this gift of the first harvest [Type this in after you have tore off your own piece of bread]. When everyone has a piece of bread [Has typed in the above sentence], say:

Everyone eats their bread together. If you have ritual wine [or your chosen beverage take a drink symbolic of passing it around] pass it around the circle for people to wash the bread down. Once everyone has finished their bread], take a moment to meditate on the cycle of rebirth and how it applies to your own life – physically, emotionally, spiritually. When you are ready, if you have cast a circle, close it or dismiss the quarters at this time. Otherwise, simply end the ritual in the manner of your tradition.

Your Crowley Thoth Tarot Card for July 18th is The Hierophant

Your Crowley Thoth Tarot Card for Today

The Hierophant

The Hierophant represents the protector of a culture’s heritage and traditions. His purpose is to defend and teach the established ways and beliefs a group embraces. He is inherently conventional and a true believer in the power of the group. He loves the structure of the group and its values. It is the task of The Hierophant to bring new members into the group—to prepare the uninitiated to take their rightful place in his culture. In this sense he is very much like a teacher or a priest. He also acts as the repository of his group’s history. The Hierophant is certainly not one to buck proper authority. However, he is staunch and worthy defender of the tried and true. He represents the positive aspects of tradition and conformity.

Your Personal Daily Tarot Card for July 18th is The Emperor

Your Personal Daily Tarot Card

The Emperor

The Emperor is blessed with the skills to successfully lead others. He can turn chaos into order and provide structure to that which is unbound. He is quick of mind and confident in his power and right to rule, and does so in a just manner. Although stern by nature, he truly is the ultimate father figure. He will provide as needed, teach those with unanswered questions, protect the vulnerable, set and maintain boundaries. His perfect world runs on schedule and is free of any disturbances. What the Emperor must be wary of is setting boundaries and rules where none are needed. If he isn’t careful not to over use his powers he may well become a tyrant.

Get A Jump On Tomorrow…..

Your Daily Horoscopes for Tuesday, July 19th

by Rick Levine

General Horoscope

We’re plagued with self-doubt as yesterday’s certainties become today’s questions. Although the ambitious Capricorn Full Moon at 6:56 pm EDT reinforces our drive to succeed, tensions between our personal and professional lives make it difficult to set priorities. Unfortunately, an illogical Mercury-Neptune misalignment muddles our thinking. It’s nearly impossible to know what the Full Moon will reveal because of its square to unpredictable Uranus.

Aries Horoscope MAR 21 – APR 19

Although you know what you want and have a simple plan to get it, your energy is drawn toward strengthening family relationships now, delaying your professional success. The aspiring Capricorn Full Moon in your 10th House of Career could trigger a work-related crisis that pushes you to recognize the need for self-discipline. Although you might be confused by conflicting demands on your time, your persistence will pay off in the long run. Ironically, attending to your personal needs makes everything in the outer world more manageable.

Taurus Horoscope APR 20 – MAY 20

You are proud of your realistic goals and are more driven now than ever to achieve them. The calculating Capricorn Full Moon spotlights your 9th House of Big Ideas, revealing sensible ways to reach your destination. Nevertheless, your overly practical nature can fill you with doubts about the feasibility of your grand plans. The contrast between the real and the ideal is palpable today. Cultivate your dreams by doing the hard work necessary to make them come true.

Gemini Horoscope MAY 21 – JUN 20

You’re ready to risk your comfort by confronting a deep emotional issue now. Clarifying what you want from others enables you to advance your personal and professional interests as the Capricorn Full Moon illuminates your 8th House of Shared Resources. Although your imagination is a powerful tool that helps you achieve success, it can also color your communication with misleading emotions. Concentrate your energy where it counts most in order to enhance your self-worth and increase your net worth at the same time.

Cancer Horoscope JUN 21 – JUL 22

You may be painfully aware of the feelings you normally suppress to maintain the harmony of personal and business relationships. The goal-oriented Capricorn Full Moon falls in your 7th House of Partnerships, reflecting your desire for emotional stability. Unfortunately, you might feel as if you have reached an impasse. Something needs to give, for you can’t sustain old illusions any longer. You have seen the truth; respond to the situation by taking decisive action now before the opportunity slips through your fingers.

Leo Horoscope JUL 23 – AUG 22

It’s time to come back down to earth and take concrete steps to upgrade your life. You don’t have to conquer the world; just add some constructive order to it as the responsible Capricorn Full Moon lands in your 6th House of Daily Routine. Practicing self-discipline on a small scale allows the larger pieces to fall into place. Methodically focusing on one thing at a time is the most efficient way to complete your tasks. Remember, it’s the tiniest details that add up to the biggest picture.

Virgo Horoscope AUG 23 – SEP 22

Uncertainty is hanging in the air while the crafty Capricorn Moon overwhelms your 5th House of Love and Play. Emotions are revealed that test the boundaries separating a romance from a friendship. Unfortunately, your rational faculties might not be up to your exacting standards today, creating a short lapse of sound judgment. Don’t take any unnecessary risks unless you have carefully weighed the consequences. Better safe than sorry when it comes to matters of the heart.

Libra Horoscope SEP 23 – OCT 22

You may be pulled between the pleasure of being with others and the need for quiet time by yourself. The ambitious Capricorn Full Moon lights up your 4th House of Roots, stirring an urge to take on new challenges. Vivid memories of parental advice can propel you along with their high expectations or hold you back with their fears. However, self-doubt is not a signal to curtail your aspirations; instead, your insecurities show you where you need to apply more effort to get ahead.

Scorpio Horoscope OCT 23 – NOV 21

A trivial thought can grow to grandiose proportions today, so be watchful for a loss of perspective as you turn molehills into mountains. Although your passions are stretched to extremes by the rational Capricorn Moon opposite the emotional Cancer Sun, an all-or-nothing approach to relationships might not serve your best interests now. It’s much more advantageous to try to find a middle ground. The Full Moon brightens your 3rd House of Communication, making enlightened compromise a sign of inner strength and not outer weakness.

Sagittarius Horoscope NOV 22 – DEC 21

Navigating murky emotional waters isn’t your favorite activity, yet the vulnerability it can trigger now improves strategic alliances. A power struggle over fiscal control could create unexpected stress in a relationship; money matters may erupt when the responsible Capricorn Full Moon emphasizes your 2nd House of Resources. Wishing things were better is not a financial plan. Commit to stabilizing your cash flow and patiently cultivate your talents to set yourself on a firmer foundation.

Capricorn Horoscope DEC 22 – JAN 19

You are driven to establish a healthier balance between your outer professional life and your inner emotional world now. The Capricorn Full Moon occurs in your 1st House of Personality, urging you to get in better shape and consider updating your appearance. Although your relationship life may be complex, you can still set your heart on a destination and, with a little help from the cosmos, figure out the best way to get there. Even if a lucky break doesn’t turn out to be all you want, pursuing it with gusto could teach you a valuable lesson for the next opportunity.

Aquarius Horoscope JAN 20 – FEB 18

You can cling to your vision of a better future while still fulfilling your promises. The reliable Capricorn Full Moon is a reminder that you must honor your commitments prior to indulging your fantasies. This Full Moon energizes your 12th House of Secrets and can put you in touch with a practical side of your spirituality that you may have set aside. As Sufi poet Rumi wrote, “The door is wide and open; do not go back to sleep!”

Pisces Horoscope FEB 19 – MAR 20

You are driven to stabilize your relationship with your local tribe or community today. The sobering Capricorn Full Moon casts its light in your 11th House of Groups and Friends, making it clear how much is expected of you as a member of the team. Open your eyes to see where you truly stand with your peers. Notice people who take more than they give and then start to change the equation in order to make it more balanced. However, don’t forget to offer plenty of words of appreciation for those who support you behind the scenes.
