FDA Shutdown – Some Employees Asked to Come Back Unpaid

Below is a list of links about the UD Food and Drug Administration askings inspectors to come back unpaid to inspect high-risk products. Of course, it is your choice if you want to read any of them or not. But ask yourself if you would spend your money on gas going into work if you were not receiving compensation of some type or would you use that money to feed and keep a roof over your family?

Your Spirit Message of the Day – The In Between Doorway

Spirit Message of the Day – The In Between Doorway

HIDEKI’S DOOR
“I know you wish to reach out, and yet you hold back. I know you feel drawn to knock on this door and to see whether it will be answered this time…and yet you fear so much. You fear that it will not be answered…that the answer or the face that appears beyond the door will not be to your liking…that if you enter, you may never return…I cannot put your fears to rest, for only you can do that. But I can tell you what I see. I see a spirit whose flame has flickered low, whose light is in danger of going out if it does not take the next step. For years you have passed this door and many times you have found yourself here. You may even have knocked at the door, only to flee, like a terrified child, before the door was opened to you. I say to you now: it is time. Reach out. Knock at the door. And let what will be, be.”

ABOUT THE DRAGONFAE HIDEKI
”Hideki is a powerful wee dragon who dwells much of the time in the East. With the fear of the dragons that was prevalent so much in the West, he stayed away, servicing those who respected what he brought with him – the possibility for new beginnings, and of chance taken and delight found. Now the times are changing and at last Hideki can spread his beautiful doorways between worlds into the West and even beyond. These doors are between season, between worlds, between night and day, and are of transitions and chances. He now wishes to bring to you the chance for good fortune brought through brand new opportunities.”

MESSAGE FOR YOU
“Nervous about a new chance…feeling as though your comfort zone is far better than the unknown; longing to travel and to change, yet unwilling to do anything about it; procrastinations and old habits keeping you from reaching out and accepting what is being offered. You are ready…it is simply nerves that are holding you back, conditioned fears and internalized voices from the past. Reach out…take a hold of the handle and be ready for the wonder of the unknown that lies beyond the door. The doors of perception are about to change…forever.”

WORKING WITH HIDEKI
“Working with astral travel, moving between dimensions, changing jobs, careers, applying for new positions, reaching out for new friendships, going out of your comfort zone and exploring what lies beyond where you have ever ventured before. Get ready for wonderful new opportunities – yes, tests and challenges – but how wondrous, adventurous and exciting life is about to become! You have nothing to fear, except fear freezing your hand, again. This time, knock on the door. Hideki will be with you and knows that you are about to enter a magickal realm…utterly different to what you have been told and how you have imagined it to be…this is real magick.”

The Daily Motivator for January 14: Live fully as it comes

Live fully as it comes

This day will soon be over. Enjoy its special wonder, its unique place in your life, while it is here.

Your problems will eventually be solved. While you have them, learn from them, grow, innovate, draw inspiration and determination from them.

You will not always be where you now find yourself. While you’re in this place, fully appreciate it, explore its details, and add its distinctive substance to your experience.

Some of the people you share this moment with, you may not see again for a long time, if ever. Treasure the time you spend with them, give your best to the encounter, get the most out of it.

To live your life fully you must live it fully as it comes. Avoid putting off until later, for later can never again offer the missed opportunities of now.

Use the good china, embrace those you love, speak your mind, soak in the beauty, share your feelings. Life is yours to live, and now is when it happens best.

The Daily OM for January 14: Afraid To Meditate

Afraid To Meditate

BY MADISYN TAYLOR

If you want to meditate but don’t, ask yourself why you would put off something so beneficial to your well-being.

There are times when we feel the pull to meditate but are swayed from it by the excuses that spring to mind. We may think that we are too busy, have no time to ourselves, or that we do not have the right place to meditate. Our minds can think of dozens of reasons to put off meditation. But those are even stronger reasons to look past the illusion of the hustle and bustle of daily life and to connect to the place within that intersects with the timeless power and limitless potential of the universe. From that place we can experience that potent stillness that exists at all times, and it is only as far as away as our breath.

It might be useful to ask yourself why you would put off something so beneficial to your peace of mind and general well-being. There may be fear that if you were to stop your frantic pace, your world might fall apart, and then you would have to face the undeniable reality of who you really are and the results of the choices you have made. You might be afraid that you will be forced to make huge changes in order to align yourself with the universe and harness your true potential. Sometimes the frustrations of the known world seem less scary than the possibilities of the unknown. But the truth is that when we cooperate with the universe by creating our lives from the truth of our being, life becomes less of a struggle and more of a process of living blissfully on purpose.

Finding yourself alone for a few moments can give you the opportunity to turn within to infuse a sense of calm wisdom to your work. Whenever you can take the time to recenter and refocus, it will remind you how beneficial it is to connect to your source. Then you will make the time for longer sojourns of spirit, because once you are rejuvenated and enlivened by knowing that you are made of energy and light, you can channel the power to create your life in alignment with the highest potential of your soul.

Your Tarot Card of the Day for January 14 is Knight of Swords

Tarot Card of the Day

January 14, 2019

_____________________________________________

Knight of Swords

This card is traditionally entitled The Knight, but in some modern decks appears as The Prince. Traditionally, this card portrays the restless mind, aroused by thoughts of offense and defense, storming around searching for a target to pounce on. He often feels slighted, has a chip on his shoulder and bristles with a hostile attitude. His usual method is to look for someone to blame for his irritation.

Furthermore, in an attitude of righteousness, he may assign himself the job of correcting the offender. Jumping easily to conclusions, he shoots first, asks questions later and is therefore often guilty of overkill. This is not to say that he does not have his heroic side; a single-minded combativeness can have its value. However, even when he is doing the right thing, he is likely to be doing it for the wrong reasons. Apt advice for this card is to deeply question your motives for what you are thinking about doing. Forethought will assist you in discriminating between righteous and unrighteous causes. Control any traces of impulsive judgement!

Occasionally you will notice in the detail on the card, that the person can be a woman rather than the expected man. There is some evidence that the tradition of knighthood included a certain number of “anonymous knights” who took mythic names and veiled their true identities. Living on the road with few or no servants, they served as freelance defenders of travelers, champions of the little people against the exploitation of both highway robbers and the wealthy classes. Odds are that some of these knights-errant were camouflaged women, and that idea is preserved with the traditional representation of the Sword Knight.

An opportunity could present itself to you this week, and the King of Wands is acknowledging that you have the strength and fortitude to accept it! Have you shied away from leadership roles in the past? Have you felt overwhelmed by taking on more responsibilities? Now is the time stand firm in your power and own the visions you have. The key to success is becoming very clear about where you want to go and setting realistic goals that will help you get there. Go out there and grab the brass ring!

Pisces Tarotscope (Feb. 19 – March 20)

This card is urging you to use your heart AND your head as you navigate this personal challenge.

Astrology of Midlife

Astrology of Midlife

Discover the life-changing effects of the outer planets’ cycles

Maria DeSimone

Men and women of every race and culture commiserate with the phase of life we like to call the “midlife crisis.” Believe it or not, there are key astrological cycles we’ll go through during our early 40s that help us move toward a level of individuation we simply could not have achieved until these years. That is, if they don’t drive us crazy first.

It all begins with the Pluto square

Your midlife crisis peaks at around age 40-42, when we all experience the famous Uranus opposition. More on that in a minute, but first let me introduce you to the transit that opens wide the door to midlife for us — kind of like the grim reaper. You know, I must be talking about a Pluto transit and it happens to be called the Pluto square.

For each of us, between the ages of 36-42 (depending on the year you were born), transiting Pluto in the sky will make a square to your natal Pluto placement. This transit forces us to confront what is no longer working in our life. What has died … or is about to die.

Youth as we know it dies at this time while midlife is born. There’s just no denying it — our bodies and lives are rich with maturity and responsibility now. We’re raising kids, building our careers and often in significant relationship transition. There is major internal pressure during the Pluto square to recognize where in your life there is stagnation. If you refuse to change it, the Pluto square makes that area of your life shatter.

Don’t be afraid of it, though: the Pluto square might lead to a symbolic death of life the way we knew it, but you can be certain that it also paves the way for an important new beginning.

During my Pluto square I was going through a divorce and simultaneously building my Astrology career. Loss was certainly everywhere, but now that I’m past the Pluto square I can say without a doubt that the “death” needed to happen in order for me to turn the page in the book of my personal life and begin this next exciting chapter. And so it is with everyone who goes through a Pluto square.

Next up is the Neptune square

Your Neptune square happens at around age 40, and it has a lot to do with a shift in spiritual values — even a sense of confusion about where you are. If you’ve ignored the Neptunian part of life, this time might coincide with a spiritual quest.

If you do this midlife cycle wrong, you might drink too much or practice another unhealthy escapist behavior. You might take stock of your achievements up until now and feel like they’re worthless. A sense of disappointment is possible, and ultimately this will prompt you towards questioning your life and purpose in a deeper way. Ultimately, you will be spiritualized

Your midlife crisis peaks with the Uranus opposition

Soon after — or around the same time — the famous Uranus opposition happens. THIS is when our world turns upside down. At around age 40-42, transiting Uranus will oppose our natal Uranus and we realize that half of our life is behind us and the other half is still ahead. This is a major personal awakening that often results in a restless energy that needs to be externalized. We recognize with a sense of urgency that we only have one more chance at making our lives into what we really want it to be.

THIS is when middle-aged married men buy the red sports car and have an affair with a 25-year-old. This is when the homemaker decides to go back to college, unsettling everyone in her family. This is when the confirmed bachelor gets married and the couple you thought would be together forever announce their divorce.

We’re not old, but we’re no longer young, and this realization leads to a major life assessment. It’s time to either meet or revamp the goals we set when we were in our 20s. This is the cycle we truly individuate and begin to live life on our own terms. Hopefully, we can accomplish this without a rebellious outburst, but it’s usually part of the package. One thing is certain: After this cycle, life is forever changed.

Your Saturn opposition is a reality check

Then, at around age 44 or so, we experience the Saturn opposition, when transiting Saturn opposes our natal Saturn. This is when we get a major reality check and need to face the consequences of the choices we made during our Uranus opposition. Remember, this transit will happen after the Uranus opposition and you WILL somehow “pay the piper” if you acted too recklessly during your midlife tantrum.

HERE’S HOW TO READ YOUR HOROSCOPE THE RIGHT WAY

HERE’S HOW TO READ YOUR HOROSCOPE THE RIGHT WAY

I know what you’re thinking: there’s a WRONG way to read my horoscope?

Yes, friend. Wrong. And not just kind of wrong (like, McDonald’s breakfast on a hangover when no one is watching, wrong), but flat out, wrong wrong.

The reason? Horoscopes are written for ascendant, or rising signs, and you’ve been likely reading for your sun sign. If your sun and ascendant sign happen to be the same zodiac sign, you’re fine. You can ignore this whole article.

But, it’s much more likely they’re not the same, in which case, you need to keep reading.

 HISTORY OF THE HOROSCOPE

This all started way back in ancient Egypt.

Egyptian culture has had a profound influence on astrology, which was itself a product of cross-pollination spanning most of the ancient world. It was the Egyptians, however, who are likely responsible for the advent of the ascendant, if but inadvertently.

To measure time during the night, when the sun was hidden and could not be relied upon as a time-tracking tool, the Egyptians split the sky into ten-degree segments, also called decans. These decans started to accumulate meanings over time, whereby being born when a particular decan rose over the horizon could have auspicious significance.

Eventually, the concept of a rising decan morphed into the idea of an ascendant sign, synonymous with the zodiac sign that rose over the horizon at the exact moment of birth. The ancient Greek astrologers called this point the ‘horoskópos’, the horoscope, or ‘hour marker.’

So, it turns out that the term ‘horoscope’ which we casually throw about as an epithet for that snippety bit of astro-insight usually found in the back pages of a magazine or newspaper, means no such thing. The horoskópos, a.k.a. the ascendant, is about something much more profound: it marks a child’s first breath, when the soul enters the body and this life for the first time.

Later referred to in ancient astrological texts as ‘the helmsman’, the ascendant and its ruler were considered responsible for steering our souls through life, for better or for worse.

The creation and adoption of the ascendant was one of the first steps in astrology’s evolution from omen-based forecasting to a craft that could focus its sights on an individual’s fortunes. And if you plan on using astrology in any form or fashion to know more about your own fortunes, you’d better get cozy with your ascendant sign, pronto.

RISING SIGN VS SUN SIGN: WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE?

If you aren’t already aware, the ascendant is a highly personal astrological point typically found in the first house of the natal chart. Sometimes called the rising sign, the ascendant is the quickest changing point in the chart, moving much faster than either the sun or moon.

This is why astrologers, as well as your friend who dabbles in amateur astro-sleuthing, are so concerned about the time you were born. Without a relative level of birth time accuracy, it can be very difficult to ascertain the sign or degree of the ascendant.

This becomes a problem for a few reasons. Firstly, the sign, ruler of, and aspects to the ascendant are incredibly important. Planets near the ascendant are particularly so, as they can deftly texture our appearance, personality, and how we come across to others. Without an accurate birth time, however, it becomes very hard to know the position of the ascendant.

Secondly, the sign of the ascendant cements the chart into being. The natal chart is comprised of twelve different houses, which act as celestial stages where the drama of life plays out. The ascendant sign naturally dictates which zodiac sign will rule the first house of the natal chart, which in turn sets the signs and boundaries of every other house thereafter.

HOW ARE HOROSCOPES WRITTEN, ANYWAY?

To write horoscopes, astrologers pivot on the sign of the first house: to write Aries, they put Aries on the first house, to write Taurus, they then put Taurus as the sign of the first house, and so on, throughout the zodiac. Each time this is done, they reassess the house positions of the planets and write their reflections accordingly.

This has major ramifications for the average horoscope reader. Unbeknownst to you, the horoscope you’ve been loyally reading for years as an ‘Aries’ was for Aries rising.

To illustrate this, let’s use an example. Say an astrologer wants to focus on Venus’ transit of Libra in their upcoming horoscopes. As an Aries sun sign, you read your Aries horoscope as per usual, understanding that this means Venus would affect the seventh house of partners in romance and business. Venus transiting this space may bring us closer together to partners or highlight the need to find equilibrium in partnerships by using Libran tactics like objectivity and diplomacy.

Reflecting on how we’re connecting to our partners is never bad advice, but it may not be as helpful an edict as it could be, if there was a more accurate horoscope in store for you. Going further with our example, let’s imagine that you’re still an Aries sun, but have just realized that Taurus is your rising sign.

For Taurus rising, this same horoscope would mean that Venus’ journey through Libra would affect the sixth house instead of the seventh, which deals with health, colleagues, chores and errands. Our workplace may become a place of relative ease during this transit, and we may feel more able to achieve moderation in managing our health.

Neither horoscope is better than another, but it may very well be the case that one more closely mimics how our life is unfolding in real time.

SO NOW WHAT?

Now that you cannot un-know the importance of your ascendant, à la Spike Lee, do the right thing: get your chart done and find out your ascendant sign.

After that, there are no hard-set rules. Note your ascendant sign and start reading the horoscope connected to that sign as a first port of call. Many ardent followers of Astrology read their sun sign horoscope as a secondary, ‘symbolic’ horoscope to layer on top of their ascendant sign horoscope; some even read horoscopes associated with their sun, ascendant, and moon sign.

As ever, your horoscopes (like all astrological info) are tools for you to use as you see fit. Find out what works best for you, and go with it!

Your General Horoscopes for the Week of January 14

Your General Horoscopes for the Week of January 14

Claire Petulengro, Astrologer

From The Astrology Room

ARIES (March 21st-April 20th)

You can achieve whatever you want to Aries. You just have to believe in yourself. Start as you mean to go on and work out this week what is you think you want. Once you have made up your mind with confidence, then it will be impossible for others not to follow your lead. Make time for younger people, they have important advice to ask you.

TAURUS (April 21st-May 21st)

If you dream it, you can be it Taurus. You just need to keep on your track instead of veering off onto the road others choose. You know you are a strong sign, so don’t pretend otherwise. Time spent going over facts and figures can help you feel more in control of where your future is going and what sort of plans you can make for the year ahead.

GEMINI (May 22nd-June 21st)

You only need to take one day at a time, not several as you have been doing. You learn this week that the lack of help was only due to you not asking for it at the beginning of the month. You take steps to make your life an easier place to be. Watch out for an ex trying to get something they do not deserve to have.

CANCER (June 22nd-July 23rd)

I know you were expecting news by now, but hang on in there. I see Cancer that all your close ones want is to love and support you. By allowing them into the many delicate issues taking place in your life you really can turn a dream into a reality. Check bills on Friday when mistakes are highly likely.

LEO (July 24th-August 23rd)

The sky is not the limit Leo. In fact, there is a whole wide world out there and a life waiting for you to live it. Some of your sign will be considering relationships or friendships that come with an age difference. Try to remember that you always were more mature than other signs your age.

VIRGO (August 24th-September 23rd)

Try not to worry what others think about your actions, but instead focus on how you feel about events. It’s what will ensure you that you reach the decisions which are right for you and your needs. A mix up in communications on Friday could get very messy, so try to go to the source and not their friends to get order to your life again.

LIBRA (September 24th-October 23rd)

I can see how hard you are trying to do the right thing, but I also see what a strain this has put on your health and you’re ability to think things through easily. Try talking this week to those who know you well. It can help you get in touch with your true feelings and emotions. Try not to talk about new faces before you have really had a chance to get to know them.

SCORPIO (October 24th-November 22nd)

I know that certain days this month have felt like walking through mud for you. I see that you want to do the right thing, but that whatever you decide is going to see a few casualties along the way. Someone thinks they know better than you do, but events by the end of the week are sure to prove otherwise.

SAGITTARIUS (November 23rd-December 21st)

You know Sagittarius; you don’t have to do what other people tell you to. Just remember that you’re a fire sign and being a fun spirit is what makes your life such an interesting place to be. Older faces bring financial debt and delays but are sure to be worth the pain and effort by the time you see how much they’ve evolved at the end of the week.

CAPRICORN (December 22nd-January 20th)

Make sure you are not blaming the wrong person for what went wrong. It seems there is much more to current dramas than first meets the eye. Knowing what you want from your career can help you jump ahead midweek and can also see you earning extra money. News from far away settles your mind over someone you care about.

AQUARIUS (January 21st-February 19th)

Watch out how much you are spending. Have you heard the expression ‘don’t cut off your nose to spite your face’? That is pretty much what your reaction says you are doing my friend. Someone who made life difficult for you wants to make amends but your stars suggest you think it’s too late.

PISCES (February 20th-March 20th)

There is an array of new choices opening up to you which should help you to feel more at ease with the freedom you have granted to certain close ones since this year began. It’s time to live life your way from here on in. Look at what you saw as bad news, as your ticket to freedom my friend.

Your Weekly Karmic Forecast for January 13 – 19

Weekly Forecast: January 13 – 19, 2019

The Karmic Tools Weekly Forecast covers the current planetary transits which affect people in different ways and to various degrees of intensity. Take notice when it is a Personal planet (Sun / Moon / Mercury / Venus / Mars) interacting with a Social (Jupiter/Saturn) or Collective planet (Uranus / Neptune/Pluto). And pay extremely close attention when it is a Social planet interacting with a Collective planet because that means something *big* is brewing that will move large groups of people along their evolutionary paths. Tuning in to the energy and rhythm of the planets can serve as a useful *guide* as you move along your Individual Path. It also helps to understand your place within the context of the larger Social & Collective Story. Below, you will find out how these energies tend to manifest, as well as guidance and direction.

*NOTE*  There are some days when there are NO CONTACTS (besides the Moon), please note that there are no missing entries, we just list the actual Activations of each week + the day they happen.

Note from Kelly:

This is another potent week. Despite chaotic, collective madness, you must take some time this week to clear your own mind, do a data dump and try to hear your Self think. It is your Soul Self that wants to reach you this week and your Soul Self cares little about politics or the rest, your Soul Self just cares about you – you and your individual evolution. Mercury is the star this week, linking up with Saturn & Pluto, suggesting that if you can transform your thinking, you will naturally transcend your current reality. The other activations this week are equally important. The rare Jupiter/Neptune alignment is going to happen three times over, so pace yourself by noticing what is coming up for you around your faith & belief system at this time. Is it serving you or holding you back from evolving to the next level? When an activation happens 3-times like this, there is usually a catalyst, like our New Vision for 2019, then there is a crisis of faith or a burst-your-bubble moment (when you find out something you believed is actually not true) and then there is the revelations by the third time that, hopefully, leave your faith in your Self and a Higher Power both stronger & wiser for the experience. And ultimately, that Sun/Uranus contact suggests that we are ready, as individuals, to do things a completely new & different way. Honor that impulse. Improvise often. Ask (your Self) lots of questions, don’t take anything at face value but go deeper and ask your Self what you are *feeling* and then, go with your gut.

Weekly Forecast: January 13 – 19, 2019

1/13 ~ Mercury (thought process) ~conjunct~ Saturn (definition of reality):
This energy is excellent for any important project that requires your undivided attention. If you’ve got a vision and have already outlined how to manifest it, now is the time to really fill in the blanks – flesh it out – bring it to life! Do the work! If you do not channel this energy toward patiently and methodically taking the necessary steps to get to the next level, then it can manifest as frustration and feel as if you are not doing what you know in your heart you are supposed to be doing at this time. It leads to negative thinking and self-sabotage. A better expression would be to not think of the things that can go wrong, but entertain the possibility that every door opens and all paths lead to your goal, no matter how they appear at the moment.

1/13 ~ Jupiter (Truth/Belief) ~square~ Neptune (Faith/Spirituality):
(1 of 3: 1/13 ~ 6/16 ~ 9/21)

This combination gives us access to miracles, if you believe in them! But for those who are not grounded in their bodies or clear in their minds, this combo can be crazy-making, it seems to agitate some who can never pinpoint the source of the agitation. It’s time to pay close attention to what you think, say & believe in any given situation and constantly clarify it for your Self so that you don’t get too far off-track following your Monkey Mind. It’s a time when your faith & spirituality may be tested to grow as well, but all the more reason to believe in good things being possible too.

In general, these two are somewhat related because they both have to do with what we believe to be true or possible but they seem to also create a possibility for “too much of a good thing” ~ over-idealizing (Neptune) ~ over-extending (Jupiter) along with faith & charity in the wrong direction. Squares always create the necessary friction within to make you want to grow & develop skill so you can change something in a fairly tangible way. These two are like a lightning storm whose flashes enable you to catch “glimpses” of your new reality as the illusion of this old reality “cracks” revealing its inability to withstand the upcoming changes. Hopefully, it will spur you on to integrating a little more magic in your mundane, as well as manifesting your ideals in more practical/3D ways. By recognizing what you no longer believe, a new vision begins to emerge, though it still needs to be nurtured & cultivated. The test that squares bring, push us to grow and develop in a way that moves things along in a good way. When a Social Planet (Jupiter) hits a Collective Planet (Neptune) then large numbers of humans evolve around the same time. Additionally, if you have the Signs activated in your Individual chart, then it becomes “personal” for you (in this case, Sag/Pisces). In general, these energies coming together should help you develop a Truth/Belief System of your own, while still creating the Daily Practice that will animate and support it going forward. This energy will activate your generosity of spirit, so make sure to give to those worthy of your investment and try not to be foolish, deluded or tricked. Use this combo to expand your consciousness and practice what you preach.

1/14 ~ Mercury (expression) ~sextile~ Neptune (dreams):
This is a great energy for imagination, consciousness and intuition, however, keeping a good filter to distinguish between your own perceptions and what you are picking up from those around you will be crucial to your success. Your mind may be tuned-in to a different channel than usual this week and you may have to rely on other senses, like your feelings or intuitive hunches. You may be very perceptive, picking up on the thoughts & feelings of others, which if/when you are clear (and your filters are working) can yield some surprising revelations about where their consciousness is, at this time (for better or worse) and reflect an aspect of your own consciousness that you may not have been aware of. Try to avoid work that requires any attention to detail. Allow your creativity to flow freely without censoring what comes through you at this time. You can organize it later. This is the energy to explore, create and free-flow!

1/18 ~ Venus (feminine & receiving) ~trine~ Mars (masculine & giving):
Venus rules your values & priorities where your relationship with love & money are concerned. It is the Sacred Feminine within that innately knows how to co-create with nature, and what to cultivate & nurture to full development. Mars rules your desire nature and your Inner Sacred Masculine, which is responsible for getting your ideas into the world, maintaining your personal boundaries and negotiating on your own behalf. When both are channeling through you in a balanced way, like now, what you create and how you move through the world becomes a beautiful dance or, at least, a much more interesting story. The trine is a blessing of ease & grace, an easy-going energy that paves the way for balance & reciprocity and encourages independence within the context of relationships. Communication is usually smooth at this time and exchanges can be mutually beneficial. Any relationships started under this influence have a good chance at success whether personal or professional.

1/18 ~ Mercury (mind, thoughts & ideas) ~conjunct~ Pluto (purification & transformation):

This activation takes you into the depths of your own mind & consciousness, deepening all communications. You may find yourself obsessing over something, either by yourself or in an attempt to convey something to another. Superficial, quick once-overs, trying to keep things ‘light’ will not likely be possible with this energy. You may feel determined to dig deeper until you get to the core or base issue. It’s good for soul-searching when it’s motivated by a genuine desire to know the truth, rather than to evade it. It’s not-so-good when you’re obsessing over someone or something which no longer serves you (or your Highest good). The challenge with this energy is the tendency to be really intense and locked-in on your own point of view, which is no less valid, but often this type of mental intensity blinds you to something obvious that you overlooked because you were not being objective, but being driven by much deeper (possibly unconscious) emotions. Your intensity is capable of influencing others but be aware of the difference between sharing information and trying to “convince, convert or cajole” others, as that can naturally attract challenges & opposition. Remember, the opposite can also be true, where you are on the receiving end of this intense energy from someone else (trying to convince you of something). The best way to use this energy, as it doesn’t really last that long, is to turn that intensity toward Self, peel the layers to your own Truth & Purpose. The channels are open for a time and you can communicate and receive information from the deepest part of your SoulSelf. This is an Initiation.

1/18 ~ Sun (source & essential Self) ~square~ Uranus (awakening & radical shift):

As with any Uranus activation, this one disrupts the normal flow in order to facilitate a ‘break to realign’ moment. While sometimes disruptive & challenging, the ultimate result is refreshing in some way. Consider the energy that thickens, gathering for a severe thunderstorm, then releasing buckets of rain, for hours, you sleep deeply and awaken to a bright sunny morning with birds chirping unusually loud outside your window. Got the visual? ; -)) This activation is the necessary challenge that gets your attention that something better is available, if you’re willing to improvise and think on your feet. If you’ve been unusually restricted in some way, you may feel restless. Rather than being reactive to the unexpected shift (within or without), it’s best to take a pause for the cause, step back and try to gain some perspective. Remember to be present, too far in the past can be depressing and too far into the future, and you cause your Self unnecessary anxiety. Breathe, be under the sky, invite clarity about the next step and trust your gut. This energy, while sometimes uncomfortable and often sudden, is very necessary to disrupt any illusions/delusions you may be holding on to. It’s time to express your Self in new ways so the old ways naturally stop working to get your attention.

Your Cosmic Weather Forecast for 2019

Cosmic Weather: Year 2019

Jane Lyle, Astrologer

From The Astrology Room

Welcome to 2019!

Welcome to 2019! We’re still crossing the bridge, still very much in transition. 2019’s astrology brings us some beautiful spiritual and creative possibilities too. Focusing on these can help us negotiate what lies ahead. It promises to be a transformational year in many ways, with powerful Pluto, Lord of the Underworld, asking us to clear out what’s negative and reform what’s outlived its purpose. This can be exhilarating, but scary too. Eventually, Pluto offers us treasures and energy. So when the going gets tough, remember there’s a bright light at the end of the tunnel and keep moving towards it. It’s not the light of an approaching train…..

A Thought I Like for 2019:

“The little space within the heart is as great as the vast universe.

The heavens and the earth are there, and the sun and the moon and the stars. Fire and lightening and winds are there, and all that now is and all that is not.”

― Swami Prabhavananda, The Upanishads: Breath from the Eternal

The big cosmic patterns in 2019’s astrology involve optimistic Jupiter, dreamy Neptune, and practical Saturn and Pluto. The zodiac signs involved are Sagittarius, Pisces, and Capricorn – so planets in these signs in your chart are highlighted this coming year.

If you have planets or points in your own personal birth chart at around 14 – 18 degrees of any sign, this year’s astrology patterns energise your chart.

Special Sun Sign birthdays for 2019 are:

Aries:  3rd April – 8th April

Taurus: 4th May – 9th May

And if you’re an April Taurus, born between 20th – 27th April – exciting, eccentric Uranus is heading your way. This could be an outstanding year of reinvention for you!

Gemini: 4th June – 9th June

Cancer: 5th July – 11th July

Leo: 6th August – 11th August

Virgo: 6th September – 11th September

Libra: 6th October – 12th October

Scorpio: 5th November – 11th November

Sagittarius: 5th December – 11th December

All Sagittarians have a year with huge potential. Jupiter, your energy source, is in Sagittarius. Your sense of adventure thrives, just be cautious with your cash.

Capricorn: 3rd January – 11th January

Aquarius: 2nd February – 8th February

Pisces: 2nd March – 8th March

January 2019 shows us much of the flavour of the year ahead. Two of the big cosmic patterns for the year begin this month, repeating exactly in June, September and November this year. These themes are ongoing – with creative, spiritual dreams and adventures at their heart. Yet there’s a great deal of work to do to make things solid, and some seductive pitfalls to avoid along the way.

Faith, Hope and Charity: Jupiter in Sagittarius square Neptune in Pisces 2019

Jupiter in Sagittarius squares up to Neptune in Pisces this year. Both planets are in spiritual, philosophical signs, and in the signs they rule. Each planet will express itself strongly this year. You’ll likely be extra aware of this if you have your Sun, or other planets, in Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius or Pisces.

Jupiter and Neptune are fluid, flexible, and dreamy in 2019. So there are big, beautiful dreams buoying us up. These expanded feelings favour travel, exploration, charity, imagination and vision. Helping others, and exploring our own imaginations, spirituality and intuition bring many of us fulfilment this year. It could be an important year for the major world religions, for migration issues, and for sport too.

The downside of Jupiter and Neptune is inflation – from gaining weight, to hosting delusional ideas about ourselves and the world around us. We’re looking at gorgeous, pearly bubbles with no substance, and more than a few huge scandals.

Specifically, we must be very wary of:

*Smooth-talking snake oil salesmen

*Greedy gurus

*Get rich quick schemes and gambling

*Our personal boundaries – its easier than usual to let the wrong one in, whether in love, business, or friendship. What’s right will eventually become clear, so please do take your time.

*Announcing things on social media without thinking it through – Jupiter and Neptune have few filters or fact checkers on board.

Jupiter squares Neptune exactly on these dates:

13th January 2019 at 14 degrees

16th June 2019 at 18 degrees

21st September at 17 degrees

However, the themes of this glamorous pair will ebb and flow until the autumn.

Rock and Soul – Saturn in Capricorn sextile Neptune in Pisces, 2019

Our big dreams can remain just that, and never materialise. But Saturn, strong in its home sign of practical Capricorn, is here to help us manifest our ideas and visions by making a productive aspect to foggy old Neptune. Each aspect follows that expansive Jupiter and Neptune party almost straight away, encouraging many of us to not only keep it real, but to take patient steps towards tangible outcomes.

Saturn is known for restraint and boundaries, and can act to limit wild excess. Making a dream real can be quite a struggle, but Saturn builds to last. What we create may not be quite as amazing as what we can imagine, yet with Saturn there we can be sure it will be a solid piece of work, or a lasting relationship.

This year Jupiter, Neptune, and Saturn are all expressing their essence from the signs they rule. So I think they should be able to work together to produce something truly worthwhile in the end. Optimism, fairy dust, and hardworking patience – what else could we need?!

Here’s a story to illustrate what I mean about this astrological theme:

‘When I came to Dungeness….I had no thought of building a garden. It looked impossible: shingle with no soil supported a sparse vegetation. Outside the front door a bed had been built – a rockery of broken bricks and concrete: it fitted in well. One day, walking on the beach at low tide, I noticed a magnificent flint. I brought it back and pulled out one of the bricks. Soon I had replaced all the rubble with flints. They were hard to find, but after a storm a few more would appear. The bed looked great, like dragon’s teeth – white and grey. My journey to the sea each morning had purpose.’

– Derek Jarman ‘Derek Jarman’s Garden’ (1995)

Derek Jarman (31st January,1942) was a film director, set designer, artist, gardener, author and gay rights activist.

Born with Sun in innovative Aquarius, Jarman had Saturn in gardener’s Taurus aligned with eccentric Uranus also in Taurus – where Uranus is now. Their practical magic combined with Neptune in meticulous Virgo. Virgo is opposite seawater Pisces, where Neptune now rules supreme.

You can see how the painstaking creation of a beautiful, unconventional garden in a bleak, stony coastal setting echoes these planetary patterns. These patterns, in turn, echo some of 2019’s Saturn, Neptune and Jupiter possibilities.

Derek Jarman died of AIDS in 1994. ‘Derek Jarman’s Garden’ was the last book he wrote.

Saturn in Capricorn sextiles Neptune in Pisces exactly on these dates:

31st January 2019 at 14 degrees

18th June 2019 at 18 degrees

9th November 2019 at 16 degrees

If you have planets or points around these degrees of any sign in your own personal horoscope, your chart is energised by 2019’s Jupiter, Saturn, and Neptune story.

Who’s Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf ?

Some deeply serious astrological themes are building up throughout 2019.

Saturn in Capricorn joins Pluto in Capricorn in January 2020, but these heavyweight planets draw close to one another all year. As they do, the circumstances and actions they represent will become more and more obvious. This is an important cycle for the world around us, and for our development and security of every kind here on Earth – including privacy, financial security, and vital resources.

In our personal lives, Saturn and Pluto can symbolise power and powerful people in our worlds – our parents, bosses, the forces of law and order, and our own sense of security and safety.

Above all, this pair flag up the deep need for a change in our collective habits, and perhaps even some of our laws. Pluto can be the great regenerator, and one result of this astrological era will be new ways to care for our environment. We may have to endure some very dramatic weather, or other shocks to the global system to push us forwards. But sticking to what’s old and refuses to change will not work. A tipping point has arrived. Saturn the Time Lord often ends things, Pluto will eventually demolish what’s not working and aim to recycle what’s useless.

However, if we can work with them, we can reorganise and rethink the structures we often take for granted. When we fail to co-operate at such times, we get turmoil. We do have a clear choice, and I’m certainly not forecasting the end of the world. We have a powerful opportunity to rebuild in new ways in the next few years, so lets take it.

The astrology:

Saturn conjunct Pluto in Capricorn is exact for the first time on 12th January 2020, at 22 degrees Capricorn.

However, we’ll feel its approach throughout 2019.

During December 2019 Saturn travels from 18 degrees Capricorn to 21 degrees. Pluto begins December at 21 Capricorn, reaching 22 degrees by 20th December.

Moon Diary Overview: The Eclipses of 2019

Eclipses are, basically, supercharged new and full Moons. They occur when the Sun, Moon, and Earth line up – with the Earth between the Sun and Moon at a lunar eclipse (full Moon), and Moon between the Earth and Sun at a solar eclipse (new Moon). Often, this intense cosmic energy seems to be reflected in our weather, with an eclipse bringing storms or other natural upheavals.

Each time, something is obscured or eclipsed. And this is part of the meaning of an eclipse – something is hidden in ourselves or our lives, information may not be fully revealed or understood until later on.

When an eclipse lines up with a planet in your horoscope, or the horoscope of a nation, company, or other organisation, it acts like a wild card. Its effects can linger for months, or even kick in some weeks beforehand. The planets it has touched remain sensitive, they have a message for us. Energy flows, either as a dynamic beginning or as some kind of release or paying back of debts on many levels.

This year’s eclipses (apart from one) are all in Cancer the Crab or Capricorn the Sea Goat. They highlight security, money, family issues, ancestry, government, and ambition. And while none of them may connect with your own chart, their effects in various locations on Earth can affect all our lives in ways great and small.

6th January: New Moon and Solar Eclipse at 15 Capricorn

A deep and earthy solar eclipse in dynamic Capricorn opens 2019. It’s focused on money, banking, power and – eventually – the transformation and release of old patterns and karma.  Anything fixed or rigid (rules, boundaries, foundations, rocks, bones….) will need to be assessed – is it useful or appropriate any more? Are the foundations strong enough?

This solar eclipse sits between brooding Pluto and serious Saturn. Are there blockages? Are there secret schemes, power ploys, or hidden motives?  This eclipse says that we will all have to be very practical, responsible, and realistic about resources, cash, and the earth itself. Big corporate organisations have enormous power in our world. Can they learn to use it wisely? We can always hope…..

It’s vital we pay close attention to what crops up now in our own lives, and out there in the big, bad world. It’s a stark message from those ultimate grown-ups, Saturn and Pluto. They draw ever closer to each other this year, until they align exactly in January 2020.

There’s not much wiggle room. What flexibility there is may come from a deep understanding of the connectedness of all things, for the eclipse aligns with a mystical, musical fixed star, Vega, in the constellation Lyra, the Lyre. Neptune’s presence, aspecting both Sun and Moon, offers spiritual possibilities on the one hand, misty delusions and scandals on the other. We must stay awake.

This eclipse is an important one for Russia, and many countries that were once part of the former Soviet Union.

The eclipse has a message about government, finances, and leadership for the UK, and the EU with their Capricorn Suns.

The USA with its 4th July Sun exactly opposite this eclipse in Cancer, the Crab will also have much to consider this January. Serious business is afoot, but some information will remain hidden for a while yet.

This is a South Node eclipse, with a karmic message and a need for release, giving back, and caution. Something in our news or in our lives is ‘eclipsed’ at this time. Making big decisions or judgments is best delayed for a week or two – wait until things settle, or new facts emerge.

The astrology: The Sun and Moon at 15 Capricorn are conjunct Saturn at 12 Capricorn, and Pluto at 20 Capricorn. Sun and Moon are sextile Neptune at 14 Pisces.

Mars in Cancer switches this eclipse on again between 7th – 10th June. Events and themes related to the eclipse emerge strongly again at that time.

21st January: Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse at 0 Leo

This is a North Node eclipse, stirring up plenty of energy and scattering surprises around us, with a challenging aspect to Uranus (28 Aries) heralding what’s unusual, unexpected or even disruptive. Look out for new inventions and original ideas too.

And it’s the final eclipse in Leo for a while. We’ve had a series of them, all generally highlighting leadership, royalty, family, celebrities, creativity and children. There could be big news about those subjects in the days around this eclipse as certain situations come to a head.

This lunar eclipse highlights news and events in many locations now and over the next six months. These include the UK; Russia; Greece; Spain; France; Israel and North Korea.

It’s worth watching, too, when Mars in Leo vitalises this eclipse again on 1st – 2nd July. There’s another eclipse to think about then as well – expect a bit of a shake up around these dates. It’s a hotspot.

2nd July: New Moon and Solar Eclipse at 10 Cancer

This solar eclipse in security loving Cancer is one of a challenging eclipse family called Saros 127. This eclipse family repeats every eighteen years. It can herald difficult financial conditions or unstable markets. Some previous eclipses in this series coincided with these notable financial events:

1857: The Panic of 1857 – Crash – USA, Europe

1893: The Panic of 1893 – Crash and depression – USA, Australia, UK

1929: Wall Street Crash

2001: 9/11 and financial crash, notably in Argentina

This eclipse opposes the Capricorn Sun in the charts for the EU, UK, and numerous other locations where the natal national chart is set for 1st January. Security and finances are in the news more than usual now.

The Sun and Moon align with the Cancer Sun in Italy’s 2nd July, 1871 chart, and are close to the USA’s Cancer Sun on its 4th July founding horoscope. Watch out for turning point news from both locations this summer.

There are, of course, many other locations where this eclipse, and 2019’s Saturn “reality bites” effect, will be felt around the world.

This is a North Node eclipse – we can expect a lot of discussion, energy, and important world news this summer. This pivotal eclipse marks beginnings that may be hard to see straight away.

16th July: Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse at 24 Capricorn conjunct Pluto

This is a South Node eclipse, highlighting destiny and release. With powerful Pluto there, this eclipse brings deep feelings and subconscious forces to the surface. This eclipse could herald news of secret corruption, espionage, or yet more information about banking and finance. The desire to clear and clean our world, homes, or thoughts will be strong, even intense.

This eclipse could be meaningful between now and December for Saudi Arabia; Australia; Nigeria and Lebanon.

26th December: New Moon and Solar Eclipse at 4 Capricorn

This Boxing Day eclipse promises to be very fortunate for some of us. Daily Cosmic Calendar for Monday, January 14

COSMIC CALENDAR

Write down technicolor dreams and outside-of-body visions as Mercury in Capricorn forms a supportive, 60-degree tie with Neptune in Pisces (5:14 a.m.). The monthly conjunction of the moon and Uranus in Aries (7:57 a.m.) takes on extra significance, as Uranus just made its station and shift from retrograde to direct motion on January 6. The quirky, unconventional and revolutionary archetypes of Uranus are suddenly back at full strength. This moon-Uranus union starts a void-of-course uncertainty cycle that lasts until the moon enters earthy Taurus (10:32 a.m.). Enjoy a nature trek with the lunar orb in the sign of its exaltation. Take a good look at your financial resources to weed out unnecessary expenses and become more confident as an astute money manager.
