Inspiration for the Week – Giving Yourself Time to Receive

The Gabriel Message card for this week:

A Full Relationship with your Higher Self is only possible when you give yourself time to receive from the Deepest Sources of your Being.

Fortunately by the time Archangel Gabriel showed up in my life, I had already established a spiritual practice from the years I spent with my guru.

Using my time first thing in the day to sit, concentrate on my breath and pray before my meditation had become the most important way to begin my morning. My days were very different and never as comfortable if this was interrupted.

After my visitation from Archangel Gabriel and the beginning of his teachings, my focus in the meditation time became very different. There was less attention to energy from the outside of me and more awareness on developing a relationship with my Higher Self as my new best friend.

The teachings involved a recognition that I had never experienced — that my Higher Self acted as the guardian of the gates to my guidance system. I was told that it was important to set my intention to allow my Higher Self to be the filter that received wisdom from the higher frequencies. This would attract only those non-physical teachers that were in harmony with my Soul’s purpose.

There had been times when I allowed an open channel to any teachings that wanted to come through me. It was very exciting, however it led to quite a bit of confusion and stimulation in my mental realms. Sometimes I would end up feeling disoriented and sick. But when I paid attention to my Higher Self and allowed an opening to that channel, the creative work began to pour through me. And most importantly, all of this work was centered in my heart.

I began to feel waves of loving feelings that healed much of the old patterns that made feel so alone and cut off. The Divine Light poured through the new doorways my Soul had opened to higher consciousness, and I literally began to “lighten up.”

These powerful experiences were deeply rewarding and healing to me. They also stimulated more desire to strengthen this connection to Source energy. I noticed that when I was aligned with my Soul through my Higher Self, I felt wonderful. There was a feeling of being happy for no apparent reason.

When I let my spiritual practice slide and did not focus on this powerful connection to the higher frequencies, I would start to feel lost and less empowered. The inspiration I needed to feel whole was inside me. That was a new focal point for me. There in the special moments I gave myself, I experienced a flow of Divine Love greater than any I had experienced in the world around me. It filled up the empty vessel in my conscious awareness and gave me new life.

We all have this capacity to receive Divine Love. It is there waiting for us to open the receptive channels to receive that which we most desire to experience. The focus of our awareness and our intentions become of great value in order to have a deep and fulfilling relationship with our most divine and authentic self. And it only takes a little time to receive.

Divine Presence, thank you for the gift of Balance in my giving and receiving of life. Thank you for helping me to focus on that which is most important for my growth as a spiritual being in the world. And most of all, thank you for connecting me to my true, divine, eternal and most authentic self at all times. So be it. Be it so. Amen.

The Gabriel Messages #31

A full relationship with your Higher Self is possible when you give yourself time to receive Love from the deepest sources of your Being.

Dear One,

One of the most powerful and important relationships you have in this life is with your Higher Self. This is the part of you which is in full communion with God because it is the voice of your Soul. Guidance and intuitive insight come from this place. There are a number of ways you can develop and strengthen this relationship between your personality awareness and your Higher Self, and all of them require patience, persistence and practice.

One way is to learn to act on your intuition. How many times have you thought about doing something, ignored the thought, and then a situation arose when you said, “I knew I should have done that?” The more you listen to your inner voice and act on your intuition, the stronger this connection will become.

Another way to strengthen your connection to your Higher Self is through meditation. Meditation is a way of expanding your conscious awareness of states beyond your physical body. The physical world is the grossest level of manifestation and there are many planes of consciousness beyond it. Meditation is the key to reaching a deeper level of being, that still place within, where you are one with God.

Meditation is not difficult, but it does require practice and persistence to attain a calm and focused mind. It may be frustrating at first, because the mind never seems to stop. Emotions and thoughts come up that clamor for attention. This is just the way thoughts work, so be patient with yourself and gently refocus your mind on your breath as the object of your attention. It may be helpful to take the time to write out your feelings and thoughts before you meditate so that you can clear your mind more easily. Whatever you do to calm and clear yourself will be very helpful.

Practice

Sit quietly, breathe balanced breaths, and as you begin to feel more peaceful and centered, imagine a beautiful golden, healing light flowing around and through you. There is incredible love within you, waiting only for your conscious permission to flood your entire being. Focus your attention on receiving the love of God. You can ask your Higher Self to facilitate this connection. As you do, you will create a solid, conscious connection. Imagine that Divine Love is flowing through you in the flow of warm golden light. Allow yourself to bask in this love and let it permeate every cell of your being.

Create a beautiful place in your mind where you can go to sit in the silence that exists within you. Call on your angelic teachers for guidance and we will assist you in this process. The Angels are messengers of God, here to help you find peace, love and joy in your life. We can also assist your meditation process so you will find the love you need within yourself. Picture the Angels surrounding you in wings of pure light, and we will be there. We love you and believe that you deserve to receive all that is good.

When you take a little time every day to make your spiritual connection to God stronger, you will be amazed how your life will change. You will find guidance and wisdom available to you in a greater way than you ever imagined was possible. It takes only the willingness to give yourself time to breathe, focus and receive God’s love.

Remember, your message from the Angels today:

A full relationship with your Higher Self is possible when you give yourself time to receive Love from the deepest sources of your Being.

September 2015 Energy Report

September 2015 Energy Report

Shhh, it’s September. I feel like I need to whisper because there has been so much negative press and information about September 2015 that we may be a little apprehensive about this month. And yet it’s one of the more powerful months of the year, with two eclipses, an Equinox, a lot of retrograde action, cycles ending and beginning, another rare Mars/Venus conjunction, and a turning point in the ascension cycle. This month we get to see the fruits of our efforts, make some new decisions, and re-illusion ourselves and the world. Are you ready for Super September? I hope so because it’s here, and you can make the best of this month’s change challenges by knowing what’s coming up. An ongoing reminder for September — It is impossible to be at peace in the present moment when you are at war with the past.

September starts off with some interesting dynamics. First, every planet is in some aspect of retrograde, either directly or by cycle. That says a lot about how we’re starting the 9th month of the year, where 9 is the number of completion. And we have the second of three Venus/Mars conjunctions on September 1. Even with Venus retrograde, it’s a rather rare and very potent combination, the movement from the human male/female to divine masculine/feminine. And  they connect three times in 2015, which is quite rare, the 3rd is on November 1, in Virgo, together with Jupiter.

The two most important cycles this month are Jupiter in Virgo, starting a new cycle from 2003, and Saturn grinding out the last degree of Scorpio, completing its cycle from December 2014 and 1982. Do you remember your 2015 new year’s intentions? You may want to get them out this month because now you can put them in action.

The Jupiter in Virgo cycle is important because it goes back to 1991 and then 2003, both important moments in this ascension cycle. 2003 was when Archangel Uriel first visited me and in 1991 I started channeling and acknowledging my intuition and spiritual gifts. What were you doing in 2003 and 1991? Were they some of the worst years of your life — 2003 was for me, it was the year I was broke, nearly homeless, and unemployed. I cried myself to sleep every night for 6 months, begging God to ‘take me home’  until I decided to take another approach. Then I got a job and created my free trip to France (which you can read about in my book, 30 Days to  Everyday Miracles).

Any time we have Jupiter in Virgo there is a spiritual awakening and the first two were rough, this one can be different. We’re so much more awake and aware now, so we can really align with and integrate this energy. No more ‘sissy spirituality’ or Martyred Healers, it’s empowered mastery time. What do you want to create in your life now as a fully integrated divine spiritual human?

Saturn leaves Scorpio on September 16, I think I will get the party hats out for that one. It has been a long, hard grind and not just for the past two years of Saturn in Scorpio. There is a particular kind of (misery) learning with Saturn in Scorpio and this is repeating cycle that goes back to 1917, 1950, and 1982. On September 16, when Saturn enters Sagittarius we end that cycle and get to apply its learning to our new paradigms. Don’t stop at being ‘glad it’s over’, take that next step to use what you have learned to do things differently now. We can’t change anything if we don’t make any changes.

Let’s talk about eclipses, which are super energized moon cycles, and we have two this month. We haven’t had any eclipses since March so these may be a wake up call. We’ll certainly feel the one on September 13th, which opposes Chiron, the Wounded Healer, exactly. Old wounds come up for review and release or repetition. This is also a good time for secrets to be revealed.  The eclipse degree, 20 Virgo, is where we will see the 3rd Venus/Mars conjunction and Jupiter on November 1, so pay attention to what happens here.  Whatever seems to be finished may come around again. The second eclipse is on September 28, at 4 Aries, which is close to the zero point, or beginning, of the zodiac. With the activity during this month’s final two weeks, energetic, social, and political, I think we’ll see some new beginnings happen.

The Equinox on September 23 is opposite the degree of the March 20 eclipse at 29 Pisces, bringing matters started at that time to resolution. Starting in October 2014 each new moon was at 0 degrees, with February 2015’s at 0 Pisces. Also in February 2015 we had the first Mars/Venus conjunction at 0 Aries, the beginning of the zodiac. This is one more area of healing for us, clearing the drama, trauma, chaos, and pain around our most difficult relationships. All of the energy of the past 9 months is now building up to a big crescendo. It’s time for the doors to open wide.

But we have a Mercury retrograde this month too, which, with all of the other retro action, seems like overkill to me. It’s in Libra and goes from 15 degrees back to 0, highlighting both eclipses in March and April this year. Have you noticed that everything this month is about repeating cycles? Libra is the sign of balance and anywhere we have been unbalanced, which includes not serving our needs, we will see it and have an opportunity to fix it by putting our needs first. This is a time to be self-ish, meaning taking care of ourselves. You can read my article on being ‘self-ish’ here.

The standard Mercury retro rules apply, leave extra time for travel, it isn’t a good idea to start new projects or buy big ticket items, read the details carefully before you sign, and expect things done under a Mercury retro to be re-done in some way after the retro is over. In this case, Mercury retro ends on October 8, and the shadow period ends October 25. You can still do things in a Mercury retro period but delays and upsets are more likely to happen now.

‘Having balance’ includes being out of alignment and out of integrity with ourselves, in every area. Are you angry about your past? Then you are out of balance in the present. Do you feel taken advantage of or used by others? Then you’re out of integrity with your needs and how you state them. Saying ‘no’ requires more courage than saying ‘yes’ at times, and sometimes we say ‘yes’ a lot because we don’t want to disappoint others. But if doing that makes you angry and upset, then you’re better off saying ‘no’ and letting them deal with their own consequences. And you’ll have a lot of opportunities in September to see where that applies, because with all of this retro action something is bound to come up.

If all of this back and forth makes your head spin, think of the karma wheel that turns around and around until someone decides they have been spinning long enough. ‘What goes around comes around’ and eventually it stops when the individual or collective wants to do something else. The time is ripe for change and we are supported by the energy in so many ways. But change happens when we decide to do something else, which is one step beyond realizing how unhappy we are with the current situation, and that one step is what takes us off of the karma wheel.

Our global rulers think that the week of September 23 is so important that they are meeting in several different venues to announce new global policies. They have been trying to do this for decades, the last such big announcement was in 1991 (Saturn in Scorpio) and that didn’t work. I don’t think that replacing Agenda 21 with Agenda 2030 is going to be any different, especially since we don’t want the 3D paradigms to continue and we have already disconnected from them on so many levels. While they won’t stop trying to force their illusions of greed, domination, and control on the world, we can operate beyond their radar by staying true to our desire for empowered, multi-dimensional, intentional living that promotes peace, joy, love, and compassion. That’s the world I want to live in and what I give my energetic consent to, anything else is a forgettable minor detail.

Many of the topics I have been addressing in the past few months come to bear in September. Energetic consent, energy boundaries, releasing ‘sacred cows‘, finding our own truth center, releasing the past so we can get clear on the present — we can’t have a foot in both worlds, past and present, and make any profound commitments to creating change for the future. September’s keywords are alignment and integration — what energy flows do we want to be in line with and how do we fit them into our lives? It may be time for some emotional and energetic housekeeping so we can make room for the changes and opportunities that are waiting for us to allow them into our realities. If love, joy, wealth, prosperity, abundance, and peace are knocking at your door, are you going to let them in?

We’re moving from the new age to the new earth, from light workers to light beacons, and from the density of destiny to the bright light of creation. Instead of wondering where to start, focus on the outcome you want to create to start the energy flow –  make it big, bold, and beautiful, reach for the stars and keep shining your light. Have a wonderful month.

Tuesday Is Ruled By Mars

Tuesday Is Ruled By Mars

Tuesday is a Mars day, and just like the god of war, this is the time to tap into magicks to call for strength and courage. This day of the week is for rebels and warriors. If you are facing a challenge of any kind, need a boost to your courage, or want to enhance your passions, Tuesday is the day of the week for you. Some suggestions for Tuesday enchantments would include:

*Wearing the fiery colors associated with this day: scarlet, red, black, and orange. Don some of the more daring and bewitching colors of your wardrobe on Tuesdays and turn a few heads

*Carrying a bloodstone in your pocket or wearing garnet-studded jewelry to reinforce your convictions

*Working with protective and fire-associated plants such as the snapdragon, thistle, and holly to boost your shields and bravery

*Burning spicy-scented energy-enhancing candles to add a little magical aromatherapy to your home

*Cooking up a hearty meal featuring carrots, peppers, and garlic (all Mars foods and spices) to empower yourself for victory and success

Seasons of the Witch – Legends and Lore, Ancient Holidays And Some Not So Ancient!

Today Is …

September

September gets its name from the Latin word, septum, meaning “seven”, because it was originally the seventh month in the old calendar system. While the early portion of this month has many summer-feeling festivals, slowly we see a change in focus toward the fall and harvest celebrations. Children return to school, outdoor activities start to wane, and the Wheel of Time begins to paint the trees with color.

The traditional birthstone of amulet of September is the blue sapphire; and the aster and the morning glory are the month’s traditional flowers. September is shared by the astrological signs of Virgo the Virgin and Libra the Scales (or Balance), and is sacred to the following Pagan deities: Persephone, Thor, and the Wiccan Goddess in Her aspect of the Mother. During the month of September, the Great Solar Wheel of the Year is turned to the Autumnal Equinox, one of the four Lesser Sabbats celebrated each year by Wiccans and modern Witches throughout the world.

September’s energy augments magic for prosperity and abundance, balanced with sensibility and a little frugality. It is especially a time for rituals that thank the Goddess for all her gifts throughout the year. Beyond this, start making amulets for health so that when the cooler winds come, you’ll be magically fortified.

Tuesday

Tuesday

A god, goddess, or planet governs each day of the week. It is usually easy to spot the ruler of the day by its name. The word Tuesday, however, is not so easy, but if we look at the word in Spanish, Martes, we clearly see its connections to Mars.

Because Tuesday revolves around the energy of Mars, Tuesdays are good for business, mechanical things, buying and selling animals, hunting, beginning studies, gardening, sexual activities, and confrontation. This is a day for sex magick, energy, stamina, and health. As in the old saying, Tuesdays child is full of grace, is also good for success magick and defense against enemies.

Angels of Tuesday are Camael, Samael, Satael, Amabiel, Friagne, and Hyniel. When invoked, Camael takes the form of a leopard. In Druid mythology he is a god of war, which is why we see him associated with Mars. Camael is said to be a member of the “Magnificent Seven” in some circles. Camael is another “terminator” angel.

Samael walks both worlds as a magician and sorcerer. some see him as the angel of death, others as “the bright and poisonous one.” Many consider him more of a demon, and accuse him of being Satan. However, there is reference to the satans (plural) as enforcers of the law, a sort of angelic police, if you will. Supposedly, when Samael is around, dogs howl in the night. On one hand, he is the ruler of the fifth heaven and in charge of two million angels; on the other, he is the one who changed into a serpent and convinced Eve to partake of the forbidden fruit of knowledge.

Satael is an angel of air invoked in magic rites and is the presiding spirit of the planet Mars. Amabiel is another spirit of the planet Mars; however he spends his energy on issues of human sexuality. Friagne, also an angel of this day, is invoked from the east. He is a member of the fifth heaven. Hyniel also belongs to this day and is subject to the east wind.

On Tuesdays the hour of sunrise and every eight hours after that are also ruled by Mars, and that makes these times of the day doubly blessed. These four hours are the strongest ones to do ritual in. Check your local newspaper, astrological calendar, or almanac to determine your local sunrise.

May the Goddess Shine Her Blessings Down on You & Your This Tuesday Morn’!

Moments

As fleeting as time can be
I try hard not to get too caught up
Our lives but a vapor
Recycled throughout time
What is time
It is but a moment
We all know moments come
Though there can be many
Remember they are fleeting
Only to last a moment
As sure as the clouds and stars above pass
So do all the moments we have
I try hard to remember
To be ever thankful for each
Always remembering
The choice is what we do
With each moment
So never take for granted
Each and every moment
For they pave the way
For the enlightenment of the soul

Magickal Goody of the Day for Aug. 31 – Make Your Own Harvest Necklace

Magickal Goody of the Day

Harvest Necklace

The months of August, September and October are typically the time for harvest festivals, feasts and celebrations in the northern hemisphere. It is a time when many cultures and spiritual paths celebrate the bounty of the Earth, give thanks for the blessings of this bounty and honor their deities connected with Harvest and the plant spirits.

It is a good time for us to reconnect with the cycles of Nature and receive teachings from the nature spirits and plant spirits. Study some of the plant species in your area (foods, flowers, trees, etc) and then take a walk outdoors and try to identify these species. You will notice that some of these plants are beginning to set seed, and it is very interesting to look at all the different types of seed that exist in Nature!

You can create a necklace of seeds to wear during a Harvest celebration, or you may choose to use your “necklace” as an altar decoration or candle garland. You can collect seeds from outdoors that are large enough to string onto a necklace, or you can get seeds from the produce you buy at the grocery store. Apples, gourds, squash, and corn are all good sources for seeds. Always use uncooked seeds (for instance, never use cooked corn on the cob because the kernels will decompose on your necklace rather than drying). “Indian” corn can also be used, but since it is already dry you will need to soak the kernels in warm water until they are soft enough to string onto your necklace. Larger seeds, like buckeyes and acorns, can be used but they require the use of a thin drill bit to get a good hole in them.

Use a sturdy, sharp needle and a heavy string such as dental floss, beading string or hand quilting weight thread. I like to double my string so that the necklace is very sturdy. Once strung, the seeds will dry and they may shrink a bit so make your necklace longer than you would like to account for this shrinkage. Hang the strung seeds in a well ventilated room until the seeds are dry. You can make the necklace long enough to slip over your head or you can add a clasp on the ends of your necklace. You can also wear them wrapped around your wrists or ankles several times (bells can be added if you plan to dance at your festival). You may also wish to add bits of raffia or stripped, dry cornhusk by tying the bits around your string at different intervals. You can also add any type of charms or stones to your necklace that are used at autumn celebrations in your tradition…..perhaps half of a black walnut, to represent Owl/Wisdom/Goddess.

Opal is said to be helpful for eyesight and Parkinson’s disease. Fire opals (ranging from orange to red) have also been associated with improving circulation. Green opals help give an energy boost.

Workings: Opal is also said to be a very spiritual stone, and can help one be “invisible” in situations where they don’t care to be noticed. It has been known to bring happy dreams, and also to ease the process of change. Opals are also helpful for enhancing dreamwork or assisting spiritual journeys.

Fire Opal is said to be energizing, giving strength and endurance in stressful times. It is also a great meditation stone.

Chakra Applications: Blue opals can help open up the third eye, soothe the throat chakra, and encourage telepathic communications. Pink opals address emotional issues, offering nourishment and support to the heart chakra.

Foot Notes: Opal is a gemstone and the birthstone for October. Opals can form anywhere but are mostly found in places where there are hot springs. Opal color depends on how pure the stone is. Most stones look white but have an iridescent shining of other colors, too. If they show colors, they are called precious opals.

Herb of the Day for August 31st is DogBane

Herb of the Day

DogBane

American hemp, Rheumatism weed, Choctaw-root, Indian Hemp

Apocynum cannabinum L.

The common name, Dogbane, refers to the plant’s toxic nature, which has been described as “poisonous to dogs.” Apocynum means “Away dog!” and cannabinum means “like hemp,”. This is in reference to the strong cordage that can be made by weaving together the stem’s long fibers.

The fiber was particularly useful in making fishing and carrying nets, for string and for ropes, and to some extent for weaving rough cloth.

Medicinal Uses: DogBane was dried, crushed, and then snuffed for coughs in head colds.

The root was made into a tea and was used to help a baby’s cold, earache, headache, nervousness, dizziness, worms and insanity.

This tea was also taken for heart palpitations, but care should be observed if using it for cardiac disorders. It acts as a vasoconstrictor, slows and strengthens the heartbeat, and raises blood pressure.

The root could also be used as an emetic, diaphoretic, antispasmodic, cathartic, anodyne, hypnotic, laxative, treats vomiting, diarrhea, hydrocephalus, urinary difficulties, dropsy, jaundice, liver problems, and stimulates the digestive system. It has been successfully employed for alcoholism.

A wash made of crushed root can be used to stimulate hair growth, remove dandruff and head lice.

The milky juice can remove warts.

A poultice of the leaves reduces tumors, hemorrhoids, and inflammation of the testicles. The poultice placed over the eyelids works on opthalmia and eye diseases.

The leaves ground into powder can dress wounds, sores and ulcers.

DogBane can be toxic if ingested without proper preparation.

Magickal Uses: The flowers are used in magickal love mixtures. Dogbane is an herb of protection and is ruled by Jupiter.

Native American women kept track of important events in their lives by knotting a piece of hemp from the Dogbane. These knots were adorned with bead, shells and so forth in accordance to the event being remembered.

DogBane is harvested for its fiber. The stems are cut in the fall; they are then split open and the long, silky fibers removed. The fibers are then twisted into string, which provides cordage. String, thread, rope, baskets, snares, netting, and clothing can be made from these fibers.

Properties: Dogbane contains: Strophanthin, apocannocide, choline, trigonelline, cymarin, rosins, fixed oils, starch and proteins.

Growth: The flowers of DogBane are small, white to greenish-white, and produced in terminal clusters (cymes). The flower size is 1/4 inch wide. Blooms first appear in late spring and continue on into late summer. The flowers are borne in dense heads followed later by the slender, pointed pods which are about 4 inches in length.

Many small insects, such as wasps and flies, pollinate the flowers.

The leaves are ovate or elliptic, 2-5 inches long, 0.5-1.5 inches wide, and arranged oppositely along the stem. Leaves have short petioles (stems) and are sparingly pubescent or lacking hairs beneath. The lower leaves have stems while the upper leaves may not. The leaves turn yellow in the fall, then drop off.

The leaves lack hairs, and often have a reddish-brown tint when mature, it becomes woody at the base, and are multi – branched in the upper portions of the plant.

The stems and leaves secrete a milky sap when broken.

Dogbane has a long horizontal rootstock that develops from an initial taproot.

Deity of the Day for August 31st is Bacchus, Roman God of Wine and Fertility

Deity of the Day

Bacchus

Roman God of Wine and Fertility

In Roman legend, Bacchus stepped in for Dionysus, and earned the title of party god. In fact, a drunken orgy is still called a bacchanalia, and for good reason. Devotees of Bacchus whipped themselves into a frenzy of intoxication, and in the spring Roman women attended secret ceremonies in his name. Bacchus was associated with fertility, wine and grapes, as well as sexual free-for-alls. Although Bacchus is often linked with Beltane and the greening of spring, because of his connection to wine and grapes he is also a deity of the harvest.

A celebration is held in his honor each year at the beginning of October.

Bacchus has a divine mission, and that is his role of “liberator.” During his drunken frenzies, Bacchus loosens the tongues of those who partake of wine and other beverages, and allows people the freedom to say and do what they wish. In mid-March, secret rituals were held on Rome’s Aventine hill to worship him. These rites were attended by women only, and were part of a mystery religion built up around Bacchus.

In addition to being the patron of wine and drink, Bacchus is a god of the theatrical arts. In his incarnation as the Greek Dionysus, he had a theater named for him in Athens. He is often portrayed as a slightly effeminate figure, prone to good humor and general bawdiness.

Bacchus was the son of Jupiter, and is often portrayed crowed with vines or ivy. His chariot is drawn by lions, and he is followed by a group of nubile, frenzied priestesses known as Bacchae. Sacrifices to Bacchus included the goat and the swine, because both of these animals are destructive to the annual grape harvest — without grapes, there can be no wine.
