Witch Tip #139 for April 20

Spring Fantasy 2

Witch Tip #139

Many Witches believe that turning or stirring things clockwise (Deasil) will bring positivity, luck, and success. Using the counterclockwise (Widdershins) motion, however, can bring chaos and misfortune. These two are often reversed when practicing in the Southern Hemisphere.

Spirit Message of the Day for April 20 – You are Limitless

DON’T DO IT

“In this greatest of all adventures, you cannot ever be less than you really are: limitless, forever, and totally awesome. But you can think that you are less than you really are. Don’t!”

“There are very, very, very few don’ts in this kingdom of thoughts. But seeing yourself as less than you really are should be one of those don’ts. Actually there are just a few should bes in this kingdom, too. Let’s keep it that way!”

“What if you were born a healthy, wealthy, and wise as you now dream of becoming? Or, what if you didn’t have any of the challenges you now face? If this were the case, you wouldn’t be a fraction of the person that you already are today. There’s a reason to the madness, a reason you sometimes feel trapped, stuck, fallen, and bruised. And it has everything to do with the enlightenment you sought and the triumphs that are only now possible. You wanted more –more than having everything handed to you on a silver platter — and you got it. And this makes all the difference. Angels sing your name.”

Let’s Talk Witch – How to Cleanse Your Living Space

SPRING FANTASY

Let’s Talk Witch – How to Cleanse Your Living Space

Clear away any clutter that’s collected on floors or surfaces. Recycle those stacks of newspapers, throw away those old bills, and send out that dirty laundry.

Using an old cloth or your broom, dust the corners of your ceilings for cobwebs. Dust the tops of your curtains and windowsills as well.

Starting at the doorway of your house, sweep the floors in a generally clockwise direction. Sweeping is an excellent example of practical magic, cleansing on both a physical and spiritual level.

Be sure to take the dustcan with you as you sweep. As my mother used to say “bring the garbage to the dustpile, not the dustpile to the garbage.”

Once you’ve finished sweeping, fill the bucket about halfway with hot water and floor cleaner. I recommend Murphy’s wood oil soap, or a pine-scented cleaner.

Add a few drops of the pine oil and eucalyptus oil to the bucket of water. Crumble up a leaf or two of sage and add that as well. Drop the pennies in.

Say a little prayer over the water to the God of your own understanding. Ask that your house be blessed, peaceful, and harmonious.

Starting again at the door of your house, mop the floors in a generally clockwise direction. Envision the charmed water clearing away old, muddy energy and leaving your house sparkling and new.

When you discard the old mop water, be sure to save the pennies from the bottom of the bucket. Wash them under warm tap water and say a blessing over them.

Now, place the pennies in the outer four corners of your house, beginning in the north and moving clockwise. Ask the spirits of the four directions to make your home safe, secure, and prosperous.

Using the lemon-scented polish, lovingly polish any wooden furniture in your house. Once again, envision old vibrations being cleared away.

Light your sage or sweetgrass and smudge the outer corners of each room, moving once again in a clockwise direction.

If this feels comfortable, use either your athame or the index finger of the hand you write with to sketch a pentacle in the air over each door and window of your house, envisioning the opening sealed against unwanted energies.

Tips:

Pagans believe that moving clockwise (“deosil”) invokes and that moving counterclockwise (“widdershins”) banishes.

If you have wall-to-wall carpeting or are very allergic to dust, you can perform this ritual with a vaccuum cleaner instead of a broom. Simply sprinkle a small amount of the charmed water (minus floor cleaner!) on the carpet.

You may wish to chant softly to yourself while cleaning. Any simple, rhyming chant will do. Here’s one example: “Gunk away, good stuff stay.”

When I smudge, I like to chant the names of the Goddess to myself: “Isis Astarte Diana, Hecate Demeter Kali, Innaana.”

Feel free to experiment with what you place in your mop water. I also like to use rose oil (love) and patchouly oil (prosperity).

SATURN: THE PLANET OF KARMA

Saturn doesn’t make things easy. That’s the role of the taskmaster of the zodiac. Saturn commands us to get to work and to work hard. Discipline and responsibility are important to this planet, yet if we’re eager to conquer the world, that’s okay, too.

Much like Father Time, Saturn implores us to look at the clock (its glyph, after all, is the sickle of Chronos, the God of Time). Is there time for everything we want to do, or are there limits? Those limitations are important to Saturn, and we must learn to manage them. Restrictions are the province of this planet, as is any form of discipline or delay.

In keeping with the passage of time, Saturn governs old age along with the lessons it teaches us. Learning life’s lessons is key to this planet, in keeping with its role as teacher. The majesty of older age also brings with it a certain sense of tradition, conventionality (our learned patterns of behavior) and wisdom, and Saturn is mindful of these characteristics. This planet applauds our perseverance and the fact that we’ve withstood the test of time (yes, time comes up once again). This senior status further brings with it a measure of authority, and Saturn lords over that as well.

Structure, order and the way in which we conduct our affairs are all ruled by this ringed planet. Contraction and the reining in of assets are also important here. Lastly, Saturn, again in its role as teacher, concerns itself with karma and the lessons which past experiences might bring.

It takes Saturn 28-30 years to complete its orbit of the zodiac. It is masculine energy and rules both Capricorn and Aquarius, and the Tenth and Eleventh Houses.

The Witches Guide to Saturdays

The Witches Guide to Saturdays

Saturday is a day filled with opportunities to clean up and clear out. So if you are wondering why Hecate is assigned to this day, take another look at what she symbolizes and the magick that is associated with her. That should answer the question.

Hecate was the oldest form of the Greek Triple Goddess, as she presided over heaven, the underworld, and earth. Crossroads where three roads met were especially sacred to Hecate, earning her the title of Hekate of the Three Ways. It’s interesting to note that even after the worship of other goddesses waned, ancient people still worshiped Hecate as the Queen of the Underworld and the Guardian of the Three-Way Crossroad. It was also believed that if you left her an offering of food there, she would grant you her favors. As Hecate Trivia, her triple images were often displayed at these crossroads, where she was petitioned on the full moon for positive magick and on the dark of the moon for cursing and dark magick.

While this last bit of information sounds a little ominous, keep in mind that Hecate/Hekate was known by many titles and is a shapeshifter. Her appearance could and did change often. As a dark moon goddess, her faces are many. To some she may appear as a old crone, hunched over a smoking cauldron and draped in a midnight cape. To others she may appear as a dark beautiful, mysterious, and mature woman wearing a shimmering crown. To some she may be perceived as a maiden priestess. She was called the “most lovely one,” the Great Goddess of Nature, and the Queen of the World of Spirits. This dark goddess knows her way around the earth and the underworld. All the powers of nature, life, and death are at her command.

The Wicca Book of Days for April 20th: Gore-loving Goddess

:)

April 20th

Gore-loving Goddess

Mars is about to cede its position as predominant planet to Venus, which means that the astrological flavor of days on Earth is on the verge of switching from masculine to feminine, an from martial to pacific. This is not to say that all goddesses are gentle and peace-loving, however. Far from it for many female deities are more akin to Mars than to Venus in their relish of battle and bloodshed, such as the Norse Valkyries and the trio of Celtic sister goddesses, Nemain(Frenzy), Babd(Fury) and Morrigan(Specter), who were said to stalk around battlegrounds in the form of crows.

Day of Judgment

Take the time to study the major-arcana Tarot card of Judgment (or the Day of Judgment, XX). This card’s imagery is similar to that associated with the Christian day of reckoning, suggesting that a symbolic rebirth (and, perhaps, reward or punishment) may be looming.

Saturday: Even the God needs to relax

Spring Fantasy

Saturday: Even the God needs to relax

Here we come to the only day of the English week which brings a Roman god to our heavenly party. The word Saturday is derived from Saturn, the god of harvest and agriculture. Buying all the food in supermarkets, we can hardly imagine how important this guy was for our distant ancestors.

In Latin, the word for Saturday is Sambata Dies, meaning the Day of Sabbath (sábado in Spanish, sabato in Italian, samedi in French). Sabbath is a Hebrew word for the Day of Rest. It was the last day of the all-in-one-week creation run. A day when the God finally had some relax, lying in the Garden of Eden and curiously waiting for what happens next.

Question of the Day for April 20

This question of the day is totally, way out in left field and has nothing to do with Witchcraft. I have been wanting to ask it for sometime but……anyway, we have all read and heard about what I am getting ready to ask you in the News & newspapers. I know it might strike controversy but hey, I am always open for a good discussion. I know get on with the question, so here it is……

We have all read and heard about the statues in various part of the country being pulled down. Most of these statues involved Confederate soldiers, generals or someone who was associated with slavery at one time or another. My question to you, how does this make you feel? These people did play a part in forming our country. Is it right for these statues to be pulled down? Are they trying to re-write our history, as they have tried to do in our very own religion? Personally, I don’t see any harm in letting this statues remain. They are a part of our history, a dark part but yet our history. To destroy all the statues and erase all the memories of the by-gone era, are we doomed to repeat the mistakes of the past? I know we would never allow slavery to become legal in our country by no means. But there is something very important in that era that we need to remember. It is a time when we all recognized each other as equal, no matter the color of our skin. It was a time when we gained a new respect for all life, again no matter the skin color. Perhaps the Civil War era and all that it is suppose to resent is not really that bad after all. We did learn a valuable lesson. To respect all human beings and live and peace and harmony together. Now should we just forgot that era, pull down the statues and pretend that it never even happened?

I am interested in hearing your comments. Want me to get down on my hands and knees and beg, lol!

For Blessed Are The Witches!

A ‘Pink Moon’ will be visible this weekend. Here’s what that could mean for you.

A ‘Pink Moon’ will be visible this weekend. Here’s what that could mean for you.

  • A „Pink Moon“ can be seen for a few days this April.
  • It’s not actually pink.
  • Astrologers believe it may affect your emotions.

Editor’s Note: Astrology is just for fun and is not supported by scientific evidence.

On the evening of April 19, a full moon will rise. It even has a nickname: the „Pink Moon.“

But while this makes it sound like the sky is going to be lit up with a pleasant shade of pink, the reality might be a little bit less exciting.

The moon goes through a lunar cycle that consists of various stages and four main phases: the first quarter, the new moon, the third quarter, and finally, the full moon. Astrologers believe that the full moon has a strong effect on all of us down here on planet Earth, and each month, it signifies something new.

INSIDER spoke to astrologers to find out exactly what this Pink Moon means for all of us.

The Pink Moon is actually just a nickname and doesn’t always describe the color of the moon

You might be wondering why this month’s full moon is called the Pink Moon. Does that mean it will look pink when it rises, sort of like how a Blood Moon looks red when it rises? Unfortunately, there’s a possibility that that won’t happen at all. INSIDER spoke to astrologer Cindy Mckean about the meaning behind the name, and she explained that every month’s full moon has a nickname that dates back to hundreds of years ago.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac says the name „Pink Moon“ was given by some Native American tribes after a wildflower known as herb moss pink phlox, or „wild ground“ phlox, that grew during this time. The moon had other names too, Farmer’s Almanac says, such as the „Fish Moon“ by some coastal tribes. (It’s worth pointing out that while the Farmer’s Almanac does not source where it got this information, The American Indian Alaska Native Tourism Association does mention that different indigenous peoples had names for the full moon at certain times of the year.)

It’s also an important factor in determining when Easter will be, according to Mental Floss. Easter is always the first Sunday after the full moon that appears after the Spring Equinox.

As for the color, Mckean said, „The Pink Moon doesn’t always look pink; however. Depending on atmospheric conditions, it could look yellow, orange, or red. When the conditions are right, the moon will appear to look pinkish.“

The name is inspired by flowers, the spring season, and a period of new growth

INSIDER also spoke to astrologer Paula Pavlova, MoonBox co-founder, who said that this particular moon nickname comes from a specific flower.

„The moon gets her name from the wildflower, ground phlox, which most rampantly spreads pale pink color flower buds like a blanket over the well-hydrated Earth,“ Pavlova said. „Pink is the color associated with new life, represented in often light pink buds waiting for the slow and steady warmth of the sun to turn them green through photosynthesis. The Pink Moon ushers in the energetic theme of rebirth, occurring in all forms of life.“

This sentiment of new life and rebirth has a lot to do with the spring season, Mckean said.

„It signifies a blooming period of spring when life has not only emerged after a long hibernation in winter, but that it’s gaining strength and vitality,“ Mckean told INSIDER.

Pavlova said this Pink Moon might leave you feeling more emotional than usual

Astrologers believe that every full moon has an effect on us, even if we don’t realize it. „In astrology, the moon rules our emotions, cycles, and fertility, among other things,“ Mckean said.

According to Pavlova, the Pink Moon may affect your emotions in an even more intense way than the March full moon did.

„With this one, there is a fragility and a newness to it all,“ Pavlova said. „New relationships may form and new evolutions may take place. Everything is tender, raw, and fresh.“

„The full moon this April signifies revitalization, more stable emotions, and a happier outlook in general,“ Mckean added.

She also said it could be a good time to start something new

Pavlova says that this full moon is „the perfect time to reclaim and reaffirm your values and virtues.“ Astrologers believe you may have a heightened sense of awareness and intuition that will allow you to question your values and beliefs in a productive way.

„This full Pink Moon is a reminder of the consistent rebirth we move through in so many ways and an invitation to be an active participant in that process,“ she explained.

The Pink Moon is in Scorpio, which astrologers believe means it’s also a good time to let go of what is no longer serving you

Each full moon rises in a different sign, and this Pink Moon will occur in the constellation of Scorpio.

„Full moons represent endings in astrology, which is especially appropriate in Scorpio,“ Mckean said. „Scorpio, being a water sign that represents will-power, self-control, and depth of emotions, among other things, means that we can finally let go of whatever has long been heavy on our heart.“

Pavlova said something similar, advising everyone that this is the best time to „let go of the story that surrounds any blockages in your life and make space for growth to occur. If we hold on too tightly to anything, we restrict it from growing into its fullest potential. The more you release, the further the limit for your potential becomes.“

You can probably expect to go through some positive changes during this cycle, according to astrology experts

„The moon will also be making a positive connection with the planet Saturn, the ruler of discipline, boundaries, and structure, among other things,“ Mckean said. This kind of positive influence means that you’re going to go through some changes — but it shouldn’t be something to stress over. Instead, these changes could be beneficial to you and your goals.

By now, you can see that this Pink Moon is the perfect chance to get rid of the things that are holding you back and to start something new, while accepting and embracing your full potential. This also extends to relationships you’re involved in.

„With relationships, you’ll finally have the strength and energy to sever those that serve you ill, thus allowing you to develop even stronger and brighter as spring reigns onto summer,“ Mckean said.

You might also want to begin your spring cleaning around the time the moon rises

This isn’t only an emotional and spiritual time: you’ll feel inspired to get rid of all things that aren’t working for you anymore.

„It’s a perfect time for spring cleaning — literally getting rid of all the unnecessary dirt and cobwebs in your home, and figuratively in your life,“ Mckean said. „In short, celebrate: it’s time for an emotional rebirth!“

THE FULL MOON IN LIBRA CALLS FOR A BALANCED APPROACH

THE FULL MOON IN LIBRA CALLS FOR A BALANCED APPROACH

At 4:12 a.m. PST on April 19, 2019, the full moon will be in Libra.

Day and night. Good and evil. Up and down. Yin and yang. We may think of them as total opposites, but the truth is, you can’t have one without the other.

The same goes for the sun and moon—especially at the full moon each month when their opposition in the sky mirrors the tension between seemingly opposite energies in our own lives. And with this full moon in Libra, we’re even more keenly aware of our own contradictions.

Fortunately, though, we’re also more willing to embrace them. That’s because, as the sign of the scales, Libra is always seeking balance. And more often than not, that means finding the middle ground.

After all, most things in life aren’t all black and white—and Libra helps us to see the shades of gray.

WHAT DOES THE FULL MOON IN LIBRA MEAN?

Still, sometimes we do need to pick a side…and at this full moon, that’s no easy task. Fortunately, if we’re taking too long to make up our minds about something, the decisive Aries sun is there to hurry us along. When in doubt, go with your gut and do what feels right!

That doesn’t only mean what’s right for you, however. With this full moon in the sign of relationships, we’re asked to balance other people’s feelings, wants, and needs with our own—after all, it’s only fair.

Libra is very big on fairness, both in our personal relationships and in society at large. So, it’s no surprise that this full moon shines a light on any imbalances or injustices that need to be addressed. Strong emotions can get stirred up—but with Libra’s emphasis on people-pleasing, we may be scared to make any waves.

Fair enough—this full moon probably isn’t the best time to go looking for a fight. Still, with Libra’s gifts of communication, cooperation, and compromise on our side, a little controversy may be nothing to fear.

HOROSCOPES FOR THE APRIL 2019 FULL MOON IN LIBRA

LIBRA

Everyone’s got an agenda, Libra—and right now, they all seem to be at odds. Fortunately, your loved ones have you to play referee. Unfortunately, this may be the rare situation where it’s impossible for you to stay neutral. At this full moon, don’t be afraid to throw your own hat in the ring!

SCORPIO

All or nothing, Scorpio—as far as you’re concerned, nothing less will do. But constantly pushing yourself to the limit has its own limitations. Without taking time to recharge, it’s just a matter of time before you burn yourself out. This full moon reminds you of the need to balance work with rest, and action with reflection.

SAGITTARIUS

Do your thing, Sag! You love being free to follow your own muse, whether or not anyone else is inspired to come along.  Still, sometimes it’s just more fun to go along with the crowd and be where the action is. At this full moon, don’t let fears of being basic keep you from having a good time!

CAPRICORN

Business is business, Capricorn. And you’re in it to win it—not to win any popularity contests. Still, the “every man for himself” approach isn’t always a recipe for success. As counterintuitive as it may seem, working together often makes more strategic sense. This full moon challenges you to see your competitors as possible collaborators.

AQUARIUS

Once you’ve made up your mind about something, Aquarius, there’s no going back—which makes it even more important to take your time and think things through. This full moon may present a moral/ethical dilemma that puts your judgment to the test. Fortunately, it also provides the balanced perspective that you’ll need to make an informed choice.

PISCES

Share the love, Pisces! With so much to give, it’s a shame to keep it all to yourself. Still, there’s no shame in being selective about whom you share it with. Not everyone you meet is equally deserving of your energy and time. At this full moon, save your best for those who have something to offer you.

ARIES

Who are you, Aries? That’s what you’re on a mission to find out! But looking at life as your own personal hero’s journey can make you overlook one of its greatest lessons. This full moon challenges you to recognize and relate to others—not just as supporting characters, but as the protagonists of their own adventures.

TAURUS

Kindness is its own reward, Taurus—but that doesn’t necessarily mean there’s nothing in it for you. By your calculations, helping someone out at this full moon means having favors to cash in later. Still, if you’re expecting something in return for your good deeds, let them know up front that that’s part of the deal.

GEMINI

You make it look so easy, Gemini. But networking is a subtle art—and you put a lot of energy and thought into getting the nuances just right. After all, it’s a fine line between suave social graces and shameless self-promotion. Fortunately, though, this full moon assists you in striking that ever-elusive balance!

CANCER

Family first, Cancer. No matter how much you’ve got on your plate, there’s no question where your priorities lie. But life can get pretty hectic at times—and when it does, quality time is often the first thing to go. If that’s been the case at your house, this full moon challenges you to correct the work/life balance.

LEO

With a beautiful mind like yours, Leo, you’ve got good reason to be proud. But no matter how brilliant your ideas are, there’s always going to be someone who sees things differently. Try not to take it personally—at this full moon, there’s room for more than one point of view.

VIRGO

Beauty, truth, goodness. For you, Virgo, the best things in life really are free. But with the pressing concerns of day-to-day life, it’s easy to get preoccupied and lose sight of what matters most. This full moon provides a gentle wake-up call and brings you back into alignment with your deepest values.
