ANALYSIS:  The actual interpretation of perþ has been the subject of much controversy among runic scholars.  The problem lies in the fact that the initial P sound doesn’t occur anywhere else in the old Germanic language, leading to the belief that the word was imported from another language.  The Old English rune poem seems to indicate that it had to do with some sort of game, leading many to interpret it as ‘chess pawn’ or ‘dice-cup’.  The dice-cup meaning is particularly interesting as it not only fits the shape of rune, but also hints at such an object’s original use as a container for the runes themselves.  An alternate interpretation of perþ is derived from the Slavic ‘pizda’, meaning ‘vulva’.  This meaning (although obscure and somewhat unlikely) fits quite into the progression of runes up until this point, symbolizing the rebirth that follows death.  Viewing it as a symbol of the womb of the Goddess, it represents the same element of the mysterious and hidden as ‘dice-cup’, but taken literally as ‘vulva’, it adds a powerful, feminine, sexual counterpart to uruz that would otherwise be missing from the fuþark.

However you choose to interpret the literal meaning of perþ (and again, nobody really knows what that is), the basic symbolism is that of a vessel, nurturing and giving ‘birth’, keeping hidden and secret all those mysteries, which can be uncovered only after the initiation of death.  The rune is closely tied in with the idea of fate, that the road we travel, regardless of what we choose to do along the way, is pre determined from the moment of our birth.  The very act of being born sets us along a course of cause and effect, action and reaction that we may choose to follow blindly, or try to divine through the runes or other means order that we may better understand the lessons we will learn.  Perþ is the beginning of this process, as well as the tool for accomplishing it.

In fact, a committed partnership no longer has the carefree 5th-house sex. They’ve graduated to 8th House of Sex and Spirituality. The 8th house is all about intimacy and sharing your resources on a deep psychological level. You don’t do this on a one-night stand or in the early dating stages of a relationship. Once you’ve become exclusive and decide to share a life together, however, a deep bond is forged and can intensify love. That’s the job of the 8th house.

Fear of intimacy is conquered here. Interestingly enough, love that may be obsessive, jealous and controlling might lurk its ugly head in the 8th house, as well. The 8th House of Intimacy is where we figure out the power behind the bonds of love and learn how to surrender to it in a psychologically healthy way. Occasionally, this is where we are betrayed or become destroyed by love.

Neptune holds the key to unconditional love

Ideally, love is unconditional. For that, we look to Neptune, because this is the planet that is known as the higher octave of Venus, ruling unconditional and spiritual love.

If you want to know whether love can conquer all in your chart, look to see what Neptune is doing. If this planet makes an aspect to your Sun, Moon, Ascendant or Venus, then you’ve got a natural ability to love unconditionally. The question is … will you receive that in return?

The Moon is also quite important when we speak of love. The Moon rules our deepest need — what we crave. We all crave love, but the Moon will tell us how we need to be nurtured.

In a woman’s chart the Moon is an important indicator of what she needs in order to feel most attuned to her feminine self. In a man’s chart, the Moon suggests qualities he needs emotionally more than anything else from a woman.

Mercury: The key to communication

Finally, what’s love without communication? If you can’t talk about love and express your feelings, well, love may have a more difficult time reaching you. Look to your Mercury placement for clues on what you think about most and how you best interconnect with others.

Dear One, the power of the heart is your freedom, for it is the vessel of Love’s resonance pulsing through you. This nurturing pulse creates and continues Life. You can not truly separate any aspect of you, yet you can observe its separate functionality in physical form and see clues to the invisible, fully connective realms. There are always clues in the physical leading to your next level of connection. Embrace every aspect of physicality and you open to expansion.

While your expansion is infinite, form is finite. The two Meet in the Middle of your experience; infinity giving way to finite form and finite form melding into infinity. This is so natural, and so invisible, that you often sleep through the connection until the mind begins to understand the invisible nature of life and the heart begins to understand the nature of loving pain into connection. We say loving pain into connection for humanity often resists the transformation of pain, allowing it to stop at the perception of death.

Your power to Love is a game changer in the game of life, but you must understand the rules of conditional experience meeting unconditionality. Condition applies to form, there are external conditions that must be met in order to continue physical expression and expand on Earth. These are the boundary conditions that create your experience. Unconditional is invisible; it is internal and it is where you begin to apply the infinite to the finite of physical form, expanding its boundaries to incorporate the next level of connection into your Earth experience. It is the middle road, expanding out, connecting and expanding further.

Observe what connections, what transformations, you resist and you find where you stop or compartmentalize your expansion. As you Love into Life while honoring your current physical conditions, you expand beyond them into new Love. Your connection with the infinite unites the finite with its invisible opposite, transcending duality into connection.

As we sit to Blast My Heart and My Love, we are releasing pain into the infinite embrace of Love and becoming free to unite with Life. We are expressing the Self through the connection of Love, beginning within and exemplifying out. We are finding a new perspective of transformation available within each experience calling for Love’s embrace. We are forgiving easily, for the touch of the infinite opens the mind to the heart’s connective power. We are nurturing new Life, the future; for its seed is resting in our hearts, awaiting the Light of our Love to call it forth into blossom. Blast on!
