How Magical Are You According to Your Sun Sign?

How Magical Are You According to Your Sun Sign?

Do you believe in real magic? And by magic we mean serendipity, messages, signs, odd happenings, mysterious manifestations, and getting what you want with the power of your mind. We’re all magical to some degree but how magical are you according to your sun sign?

Note:

  • Fire signs: Aries, Leo, and Sagittarius are really good at candle and sex magic.
  • Air signs: Gemini, Libra, and Aquarius are excellent at mind magic and communication.
  • Water signs: Cancer, Scorpio, and Pisces have really well-developed intuitive/feeling skills.
  • Earth signs: Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn are very good at using the power of the earth.

Aries March 21 – April 19

Aries, your strongest abilities lie in your adventurousness and courage. Therefore, your magical abilities lie in these areas too. How many times do things work for you when they would not work out for anyone else? Your sheer willpower carries you through. Tip: when you really want something to manifest for you, think about it at that magical moment before orgasm. All that power will be focused on your desire. Have fun with that.

Taurus April 20 – May 20

Taurus, you are so connected to the earth that your power seeps up from the very ground. Earth magic is a powerful force. Draw upon it to create security, stability, and refuge. Love and money spells work well for you because you are already tuned into abundance and certainty. Tip: next time you are thinking of bringing something new into your life, imagine the energy pulsing up through your feet. Like a magnet it attracts exactly what you need.

Gemini May 21 – June 20

Gemini, your magical talent is in your ability to free up your mind. You are like an antenna, tuning into the wild network of thought and communication which surrounds us. You have a skill for picking out the important details, for anticipating what a person will say. This sensitivity can help you in all walks of life. Tip: This is a skill you can develop, don’t ignore it.

Cancer June 21 – July 22

Cancer, you are empathic and emotional. You know how someone feels instinctively. You can feel moods and tune into the atmosphere in a room. Therefore, you would be very good at tarot reading or other divinatory skill. Your ability to counsel someone through a difficult time is also part of your magical repertoire. Tip: Don’t underestimate your own abilities, you have magical skills that can help others.

Leo July 23 – August 22

Leo, your magical abilities lie in the realm of inspiration. You somehow always know what your next move is. It is as if you are guided by an invisible hand. Your personal charisma can be so magical that you always get your way. People always turn up when you need them. Tip: think about how you can use your magical abilities for good things. Giving leads to increased satisfaction.

Virgo August 23 – September 22

Virgo, you have a natural ability for healing. People calm down in your presence. You can call on that earth energy to give you all the strength you need to bring peace to any situation. You are the negotiator, the mediator, and the conciliator. Tip: if you haven’t already, explore the possibilities of becoming a professional healer. You will excel.

Libra September 23 – October 22

Libra, your magical skills lie in your ability to bring beauty, harmony, and balance. As an air sign, you are excellent at communication and you are able to see situations from both sides, including beyond the veil of life and death. You can even tune into messages from the past. Tip: Give yourself permission to listen to those soft, whispering voices.

Scorpio October 23 – November 21

Scorpio, you have a range of magical abilities. From knowing what other people’s true motives are, to communicating with the dead. The main downside is that you are drawn to the black arts as well as using your power for good. Tip: Stop, breathe, and think before you cast that curse. You are more powerful than you know.

Sagittarius November 22 – December 21

Sagittarius, your positive attitude brings what you want, even things you didn’t know you wanted. Your optimism means you are constantly pleased and surprised by these magical, spontaneous deliveries. Tip: If you set your mind to it, your manifestations could be even more deliberate and satisfying. Take time to learn how to manipulate energy.

Capricorn December 22 – January 19

Capricorn, abundance and manifesting your desire are your top skills. However, you have others. That strong pulsing earth energy means you are far more spiritual and magical than you ever thought. You just need to keep an open mind and be prepared to try new things. Tip: buy yourself a book on witchcraft and see what you can do.

Aquarius January 20 – February 18

Aquarius, you are probably among the most magical people on the planet. You have the ability to communicate with faery folk and entities hidden from the rest of us. You can see and hear beyond the normal realm. Aquarius, you can create anything you want when you focus your power. Tip: the magical world is your oyster, explore everything.

Pisces February 19 – March 20

Pisces, your abilities lie in the realm of imagination. If you can imagine it, you can create it. Like the other water signs you are also a healer, a visionary, and can empathize with any living soul. Tip: Your special skills are in your dreamworld. Study the language of dreams and develop the ability to lucid dream. A whole new universe of magical possibilities will open up for you.

We all have the capability to tune into the magical world, if we want to. Why live a mundane existence when you can delve into powers and skills you didn’t know you have? Be adventurous, live your life with a touch of magic. Discover how magical you really are.

5 Things to Know About Equinox

5 Things to Know About Equinox

Next Big Energy Gateway

With Equinox just around the corner, it’s helpful to understand the key potentials and things to pay attention to, as part of your preparation for this next big energy gateway. Continue reading to discover 5 things you will want to factor into your week.

Equinox as a reminder marks a change in seasons and is often associated with new starts and breakthroughs. The energy of Equinox can be palpable, too, waves of transformation arising and catalyzing mega shifts on both a personal and planetary level.

5 Things to Know Now

FIRST: At our second Equinox of the year, we often reflect about where we are and progress we are making. Given this year’s turbulent energies, it’s even more essential to take these moments to reassess, renew, and reset our energies. Since this Equinox is in Libra – representing a search for balance – we have a significant catalyst for our reflections and assessments. It’s like the universe is supporting our taking a pause and looking at things more deeply before moving on.

SECOND: as we consider where we are and the state of our world this Equinox, it’s essential that we factor in the big picture that includes more than the mundane and often crazy-making squabbles and polarization we witness day-to-day. Yes, that’s going on and it’s troubling to say the least. Remember though that we are quantum beings – a vast amount of change is happening in the background before it becomes readily apparent. Many of the most profound changes in how life is lived have been percolating within peoples’ hearts and minds for a very long time. Those changes have an inner level template already existing!

THIRD, the energies now support mega changes. Trust that. Be heartened by that. Take this knowing within, too, for you as a divine changemakers play a key role. Step into the Equinox window with an open mind and open heart. Be willing to go deeper with yourself, allowing Equinox to illuminate key blocks to address, things you are ready to leave behind, actions you have been avoiding, and what you need to more fully understand at this juncture. Meditate on these things, on your own, and with a group on Equinox. Time and energy well spent.

FOURTH, for three months after Equinox, planetary energies will catalyze opportunities to heal what you discover on a personal level. In other words, Equinox is like a set up helping you to go to a deeper level with your spiritual transformation. You may, for example, become aware of ancestral or past life DNA level patterns that are keeping you stuck. You may all of a sudden one day wake up with an insight that puts a convoluted issue into context – so you can heal it at its root.

FIFTH, your emotions may be more on the surface now and throughout the next three months. Honor them, be with them like you would be with a best friend. Process them, however, before you text or take a significant action. Strive for neutrality, applying an open heart to yourself, others, and life events. Remind yourself daily that you are here for the journey. Happenstance comes and goes. It is the life journey itself that’s important. Treasure the moments, the smiles, the hugs, and the exhilaration of simple things. Treasure the people who stream in and out of your life experience – each one is a jewel.

Equinox: You Know What to Do

Equinox: You Know What to Do

If you allow it, the whole thing can be completely overwhelming, it’s true. But don’t stop there. It is for you to be a change maker in the midst of it, without feeling like you have to shovel dirt to move the mountain. You are a very powerful light bearer with much work to do, so start. Remember. When you hear about something that tugs your heart, send light. See the highest outcome transpiring. Send light to those on the front lines. Envision the entire planet and all of the sentient beings and intricate systems in harmony, peace and balance. Hold the light of possibility in order to make it so. Do not lower your energy field in compliance with those who may doubt you. You are what you have been waiting for. Send love to those in turmoil or darkness, or in the path of a hurricane. Send light to the planet as she heals from what we humans have done to her and to lessening the impact on sentient beings of weather changes, earthquakes, volcanoes, storms. You are powerful light and influence the whole with every ripple, why have this great power be wasted or joining the problem over the solution? It is your moment by moment choice. You know what to do. It is we who are “the second coming”; it is we who are in charge of anchoring unconditional love in every aspect of our Earthly experience. It is our choice. Time to make haste; there is no time to waste.

So what draws your heart in positivity will expand that for the collective. Your out-picturing of the highest outcome will contribute to that; the reverse is also true. Choose your team and get on with it. This extraordinary time of unveiling the deceit and corruption is traumatizing, but of course, it is also cause for celebration. Let the truth be shown. There are no borders in this process, we are all one, all Earthlings, all joined by our original cause. This is not a political process, it is a spiritual one. It is a joining of the hearts. It is time that we take charge of our own experience, our own creations, our own lives. Choosing peace and love and harmony and well-being and health and vitality and expansion and abundance, holds the light of possibility for everyone to experience it too. It is time. There will be chaos and upheaval before things settle, but choosing your team in advance helps with that. Choosing your intentions and knowing your purpose in it helps. You are here to help create the New Earth filled with all that you know in the depth of your true heart to be good and right. Hold the light for that always. When the external world gets you down, receive nourishment from your rich internal world, fuelled by your deep spiritual connection to All That Is, the boundless resource for all. When you need external refuge, seek nature. Walk among the trees and near the water and witness the extraordinary miracles of the animals and the birds. All you need do is really look at a cobweb in the sunlight, or consider the migration of the monarch butterflies or the whales in the ocean, or the awesome cloud shapes…and you are reminded of what is true and right in our world. Seek solace in nature; it will rejuvenate you in times of thirst. The desire to protect it is as vital as protecting ourselves, and reminds us that we are part of it.

This time of the equinox provides a great opportunity to anchor greater balance within ourselves, and consequently in our world. The time of equal light and darkness creates a balance point, a fulcrum by which we can choose the Buddha’s Middle Path…the grounded, neutral, centre point from which we wield our great power and light for the highest outcome of our home: Heaven on Mother Earth. It is time. You know what to do.

With great love, support and camaraderie, we stand with you.

The Council of Light Within Everyone

The 2018 Equinox

The 2018 Equinox

As we move through the Equinox, we are called to demonstrate being in the New. In the old, we reacted in fear, judgment, anger and all things of being emotionally insecure. In the New, we maintain our neutrality. We are Compassionate Observers, detached from taking things personally and wanting to retaliate in familiar old ways. Yet in the New, we are not only detached, but we are calm and non-judgmental; we are Love; there is no need to lower our vibrations to match others. Use the energy of the Equinox to be more in the New than of the old. The Equinox helps us leap into a very different landscape where there is much unknown, and when you observe yourself, you realize you have changed so much…from not reacting to others’ judgments of you to a complete reversal of how you used to be. The energy of the Equinox can be integrated within so you may let go of the last vestiges of old beliefs and patterns. With the energy of the Equinox there are many energetic changes. This means that a lot of the changes happen deep within you. You see, you might look at your life and decide that nothing has shifted and yet, when you go within you notice that everything has changed.

As you focus on being a master of Love, you will undoubtedly see, feel, hear and knowthat you are in the New; where magic happens. Release all doubt that this true. You have all and are  all you need to do and be this. The Equinox is when there is great Balance within you and in your environment. It is the merging of equal partnership within you and all around you. This means that there is a potential for a complete merging of your Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine in your relationships and all of life. Balance is a stabilizer of dark and Light (with darkness transforming to Light) and there is Balance in close relationships as well, which may precipitate a closing of a chapter and an opening to that which more fully is aligned with who you are. Do not be afraid to let go. You are supported in all choices; especially those choices in which you align yourself with Love. Remember that letting go can be a lot more loving than clinging to any fear you may have; it is loving to self and to others (even when it doesn’t seem that way, especially if one is not fully awake).

During the period before, during and after the Equinox, there are energies that are designed to expand consciousness. To many, this may look like endings and disruptions. My mother said it seems this is the end of times. Yes; it is the end of 3D. Those who choose not to wake up from the illusion of 3D certainly may see that all is ending. For these ones, yes it is. Those who are awake know there are no endings; only Transformation.

Some gifts that have the potential of becoming stronger are Intuition and a dissolution of more illusions (illusions can be lies, how a person adheres to their old stories or a view into things that appear real but aren’t. Illusions can be old beliefs as well. Beliefs are attachments to how you think things should be). There is more awakening and more Wisdom. This particular Equinox has the potential to bring very high vibrations and transformations for all, including our Earth. We can experience more awakening, more energy along with many more opportunities (oh no! More choices?!). There is an increase of Love as well. You may want to be near water, in Nature or in the mountains, as there is much Peace and Awareness in these high vibrational places. Are you ready to completely leave behind old patterns and beliefs? If so, use the Power of this Equinox to make choices that are aligned with who you are now.

If you are in a meaningful relationship, don’t rush into making a decision to leave. Be patient and take a breath. Realize that many relationships are transforming. Choose what is right for you…choose with Awareness and not fear. Be patient and be in your Integrity. Realize that how you choose creates the next moments. Realize that you may be intolerant of old energies; see who drains you and who energizes you. You see, those who drain you and yet you still choose to be with those folks not only shows you where you drain yourself, but also points you in the right direction. You may want to go somewhere alone and be in touch with what you truly want and what you are no longer willing to endure.

This is a time to see things clearly. You may want to make amends (Forgiveness) and you may want to release much: drama, old beliefs, codependency and all that limits you. Be sure to let go of old emotions such as shame, guilt, anger and energies (for these truly are all energies) that limit who you are. Let go of your old stories (things others or you keep telling yourself to explain why things are the way they are). You are not your stories. Your stories are of the old. You are New. If you feel ultra-sensitive, amped up, quite emotional, along with some other phenomena, realize that all these energies are helping you be into a more rarified state of being. Remember, you are becoming more sensitive to energies and you are intuiting much. You may also experience restlessness, vertigo and disorientation. Pay attention to when you see number sequences and experience synchronicities. You may also have sleep changes and may be thirstier and hungrier as well (or just the opposite). Don’t compare yourself to others, as we are all individuals. We may be One, yet we experience everything uniquely designed for just ourselves…we experience whatever helps us transform.

As we move into the next phase; the Equinox; there may be a lull beforehand. Use this time to integrate all you’ve learned and experienced. Perhaps view the last six months and notice how you’ve shifted, what Gaia’s been doing and all that has brought you to this New Now. It’s a great time to nurture yourself and be kind to yourself and others. This time of preparation definitely helps you be grounded before the energies begin again. Breathe deeply. Remember that you are in charge of how you feel. Life doesn’t happen to you; youcreate life. Be true to yourself. This doesn’t mean you yell to everyone how different you are; you can be silent and maintain your own Integrity. Be who you are (not the old familiar you; the New you).

Be sure to use your Discernment. When you discern what is true for you, you are in your Integrity. Feel what is right for you and let the rest go. The words that expand your Heart are true for you; those that constrict your Heart are false for you. By now, your Heart is strong, while your intellect is quieter. Having a strong Heart helps you be more intuitive and wise. It helps you feel into things (Discernment). Use words that empower rather than separate or minimize. Words are energy and they are symbols of what beliefs you hold. When you are clear of all old beliefs, your words reflect your Clarity and are positive. See all that you attract into your life as a mirror. It’s a beautiful way to clear yourself of outmoded beliefs and behaviors. Feel into everything. For too long, most have relied on their intellect and still do. Feel; it’s the only way to truly know what is true for you.

Much is completing now; this is to prepare us for what’s ahead. Many have ascended multiple times and others are ascending for the first time. It matters not who is doing what; just pay attention to your own journey. Remember that Ascension is not a one-time event; it is ongoing. You don’t stop evolving (unless you choose to). The next three months surely will see much shifting; many “humans” and other lifeforms will go through much. How we perceive it all is up to each being. For me, I always see the positive even in the most horrendous events. This is how I choose to be.

Please do integrate all you’ve learned into your everyday life. It’s the only way to move ahead. Is there anything you’ve forgotten? (It is the first thing (or more than one) that comes to you.) The bottom line is you are Source. You are Soul. You are a master of Love.

Don’t Forget to Feed Your Moon

A starving Moon can plummet your emotions

Astrologically, at the root of depression, I believe, is a starving Moon. If your natal lunar needs are not being met then the rest of your horoscope has a difficult time functioning. I have always said this to my clients and have found it to be true over and over again. The Moon is our instinctive feeling nature. It’s where we feel safest, most nourished, and nurtured. The Moon represents the deepest needs we have as individuals.

Stifle someone’s Moon and you’re stifling their emotional well-being. PERIOD.

A while back I went through a mild postpartum depression episode, my friends. No, I didn’t have another baby. I did, however, take home a three month old puppy. Unless you’ve been through postpartum depression, you may not relate to the feelings of sadness that accompany what is supposed to be such an incredibly joyful event. I did suffer through postpartum depression with the birth of my first child, more than 18 years ago. It was one of the darkest times of my life and I don’t ever want to go there again.

At the root of my depressive episodes is always a starving Moon. I was born with the Moon in Sagittarius, in the 8th House of Depth and Transformation. My Moon is closely conjunct Neptune, square my 12th house Jupiter in Pisces, and trine my 12th house Venus in Aries.

In English? With the Moon in Sagittarius my overwhelming need is to have freedom of movement to expand my horizons, pursue the deeper meaning of life, and experience adventures. I also need to spread my wisdom on deep psychological (8th house) and metaphysical matters (Sagittarius) so that I might heal (8th house) and inspire others (Sagittarius). The Moon next to Neptune and square Jupiter in Pisces in the 12th house speaks to my deep, over-exaggerated need for alone time and privacy; for peace. And the trine to Venus helps me experience pockets of joy in those moments of helping to heal the suffering of others.

Making space

With the birth of my son I was suddenly put in this prison that is otherwise known as motherhood. I realize it’s a dramatic statement for some to read but please, understand my needs and my visceral reaction. I felt that all of my freedom was suddenly gone. That I would never again have the time or peace and quiet or personal space to pursue the interests that fed my soul.

It had nothing to do with loving my son. I loved him with all of my soul. But it had everything to do with not being able to blend my new life of chaotic motherhood with getting my lunar needs met. I would nurse my son and look at him so peaceful and I would cry. I would cry because I felt very much at the time that making sure he had all of his needs met came at the sacrifice of my own needs.

It took time but after about eight months the depression went away. I adjusted to motherhood and I found ways to feed my Moon in little ways. What really helped me was that my ex-mother-in-law would watch my son for me for a few hours each week so I could have my “alone time” and do whatever I needed to in order to nourish my soul. My Moon. Having the freedom to go out without the shackles of baby stuff was really all I needed at the time.

Nourish yourself

And here I was again recently, with this little adorable puppy, feeling a lot like I felt all those years ago. The difference? These days I know Astrology, and I know exactly what I needed to do in order to make sure the depression didn’t get worse.

For the puppy, for my children, and most importantly, for myself, I had to feed my Moon. Are you a caregiver? Then remember to put your oxygen mask on first. Otherwise, how can you take care of anyone else?

What is your Moon sign? What house does it live in your horoscope? And what are the aspects that the Moon makes to the rest of your chart? Learn more about this and you’ll make sure that you never starve. Happy Moon equals happy life.

If You Were Born Today, September 17

Happy Birthday Tracy
If You Were Born Today, September 17

You’re a very practical person, yet also attuned to spiritual values. You expect a lot from others, but even more from yourself. The tendency to be controlling should be watched, as well as the tendency to be overly controlled, guarded and self-contained. You are very hardworking and have amazing organizational skills. You are also extremely helpful to others and have a unique sense of humor. You could find much success in intellectual pursuits. You dream big dreams, and sometimes are quite discontented with everyday realities. Even so, you can be somewhat skeptical, simply because your mind is highly analytical. Famous people born today: Hank Williams, Anne Bancroft, Elvira, John Ritter, William Carlos Williams, Roddy McDowell, Kyle Chandler.

Your Birthday Year Forecast:

Your birthday occurs around a First Quarter Moon this year, and you are reaching an important turning point in terms of personal growth. You may be more emotional this year, and should watch for unnecessary conflicts and making hasty decisions as a result. Otherwise, this is a year of great energy, motivation, and growth. You are more ambitious and desirous of action in the year ahead. This should be a busy, dynamic period in your life.

You are likely to be popular with others when it comes to your ideas and communications this year, especially as you are communicating with optimism and cheerfulness, and this can bring rewarding experiences and opportunities into your life. Even so, your studies, learning, and focus run deep this year. You’re likely to find some especially engrossing projects and activities during this period that keep you busy and engaged.

Energy fluctuates this year, however. If you aren’t too rash or impulsive, you might be able to free yourself from restrictive circumstances. You could also have more courage than usual to do things that break the routine, and confrontations engaged in this year could clear the air and help you to move forward.

With Venus and Mars in a square aspect to each other in your Solar Return chart, your affections are strongly stimulated, and you are more acutely aware of your powers of attraction. Romance, love, sexuality, competition, and creative projects occupy your mind more than usual. You can enjoy an increase in personal magnetism but be wary of competitiveness or tension in existing relationships, as this aspect ignites your passions in general, whether they’re feelings of love or anger!

You’re also quite driven to make improvements and effect positive change in the year ahead. This positively impacts many areas of your life beyond the personal, including relationships and work.

This is a time when you feel confident and supported enough to pursue your desires. It’s a good time to take steps towards making yourself feel more secure and safe, and for family or domestic activities. This is also a period when you more readily support or defend your loved ones, and they do the same! New connections and opportunities can be sudden but welcome.

The year ahead is likely to be an especially enterprising one, although at times a bit erratic! In certain areas of your life, you’re inclined to rock the boat during this period so that you can break free from a limiting situation. Be mindful when/if making sweeping changes. In other areas, you’re super-focused and determined to succeed. Some relationships (or a key one) can be competitive or up-and-down, but you’re also making special connections. Special care with finances is wise this year, particularly when it comes to impulse spending.

2018 is a Number One year for you. Ruled by the Sun. This is a year of action. The seeds you plant now, you will reap later. Others might find you less sociable, as you are busier than ever and you focus on your activities and your needs. Still, you are outgoing and your initiative is stronger than ever. Advice – Stand alone, take action, start fresh, express independence.

2019 will be a Number Two year for you. Ruled by the Moon. This is a year of potential companionship. It is a quiet, gentle, and mostly harmonious year that is less active than other years. Instead, you are more responsive to the needs of others. If you are patient and open yourself up in a gentle manner, you will attract both things and people. This is an excellent year in which to build and develop for the future. Advice – be patient, be receptive, enjoy the peace, collect.

The Witches Magickal Journal for Monday, September 17

“Ordinary fortune-tellers tell you what you want to happen; witches tell you what’s going to happen whether you want it to or not. Strangely enough, witches tend to be more accurate but less popular.”

Monday: Keep the moon safe from the wolf

Easy to remember – Monday is the Moon Day. The word moon is associated with the Norse god Mona (Máni). He was pulling the moon accross the sky, trying to escape and save it from a mythological wolf. At the end of the world, the wolf will catch them and tear the moon into pieces. This apocalyptic period of the world is called Ragnarok in Norse mythology.

In Romance languages, Monday is also the Moon Day (lunes in Spanish, lundi in French, lunedi in Italian: coming from Latin Dies Lunae).

Today is Monday, September 17

Monday is the sacred day of the moon, personified as the goddesses Selene, Luna, and Mani. The moon is ruler of flow, affecting the changeable and impressionable aspects of people. If a full moon falls on a Monday, then the powers of the moon are at their most potent.

The Month of Hathor (Egypt)
HATHOR

Themes: Joy; Love; Arts; Femininity; Beauty; Sexuality; Sky

Symbols: Mirrors; Cow; Sandalwood and Rose Incense; Rattles

About Hathor: One of the most beloved sky goddesses in Egypt, Hathor brings happiness, romance, and an appreciation for musical arts into our lives. Sacred or erotic dances are a welcome offering for Hathor, as is any effort to beautify the body. As the patroness of the toilette, she also protects women and embodies the pinnacle of feminine qualities. Her favorite musical instrument, the sistrum (a kind of rattle), was said to banish evil wherever it was played.

To Do Today: From September 17 until October 16, Hathor reigned in Egypt. To honor this goddess, make an effort to make yourself as physically appealing as possible, then spend some time with a significant other or in a social setting. In the first case, Hathor’s favor will increase love and passion; in the second, she’ll improve your chances of finding a bed partner.

To fill your living space with Hathor’s energy, take rice or beans and put them in a plastic container (this creates a makeshift rattle). Play some lusty music and dance clockwise around every room of the home shaking the rattle. Perhaps add a verbal charm like this one:

Love, passion and bliss,
by Hathor’s power kissed!

This drives away negativity, generates joyful vibrations, promotes artistic awareness, and increases love each time you kiss someone in your home.

Monday is the day of the moon itself, and it’s a day that’s connected to lunar colors like silver, white, or even a pale blue. Metals and gemstones like silver, pearl, opal and moonstone all come into play today.

There are plenty of deities associated with the moon – Thoth and Diana for instance – and herbal correspondences include many members of the mint family. Utilize wintergreen or peppermint, as well as catnip, comfrey, sage and chamomile in your workings.

When it comes to Monday magic, because of that lunar connection, it’s a good time to focus on workings related to childbearing and family life, purity and virginity, healing, wisdom, and intuition. Do a little bit of self exploration and work on developing your intuition – learn to trust your gut. Celebrate birth and life, and make some magic to fix what is broken.

Monday’s Witchery

Think for a moment on all of the witchery, magick and enchantments that you have discovered. Don’t be afraid to adjust spells to suit your own specific needs. Any gentle, illusory, and dreamy charms and spells can be enhanced when you work on the day of the week that is dedicated to the moon. Mondays are a fantastic day to boost your psychic abilities and to tune in to your intuition and empathy. It also gives you the opportunity to work with a different lunar phase each and every Monday, which means in one month you could work four different types of moon magicks on Mondays. How’s that for adding to your repertoire? You are going to have mad skills in no time at all.

So light up those lunar scented candles and add a little mystique to your outfit by wearing an enchanting lunar color. Wear your sparkling silver jewelry and maybe add a pair of dangling silver earrings or a pendant shaped like a crescent moon. Create lunar potions and philters; make a dream catcher and give it as a gift to someone you love. Burn some sandalwood or jasmine-scented incense today to inspire the glamour and magick of the moon. Slice up a favorite variety of fruit that is in season for a snack or share it with your love and enjoy his or her lunar and romantic qualities. Brew up a cup of chamomile tea, enchant it with a little moon magick, and relax and get a good night’s sleep.

Most importantly, get outside tonight and watch the moon for a while. What phase is she in? What color was the moon as she rose? Why not start a journal and write down at what location the moon rises and sets for a few seasons? This is a great way to teach you to tune in and to become more aware of the moon and the influence that she pulls into our lives. Try calling on Selene for her magickal assistance, and call Thoth for wisdom and strength. Get to know the Norse Mani and the Latvian Meness. These gods of the moon have plenty to teach, and if you allow their influence to cycle through your life, you’ll receive many blessings. Be imaginative, and create your own personal lunar magick and witchery. Go on….the moonlight becomes you

Hands of Time Spell

Items you will need:
Both hands
6 fingers

Hold both of your hands in front of you. Stare at your hands, noticing your palms and fingers, for about thirty seconds. Then, say this chant one time:

“Palms sweaty,
From watching clocks.
No more.
One finger,
For every ten docked.
Seconds in a minute
1440 in a day.
Stop a few,
For singing birds
And trees that sway.”

This should feel like time has slowed-down and allowed you to appreciate life more.

The Moon is waxing and in its First Quarter phase.
The First Quarter Moon occurred yesterday, and the Full Moon will occur on September 24th.

About the First Quarter Moon Phase

The first quarter moon is when the moon appears half lit and occurs about a week after the new moon. It is considered the halfway point between the new moon and the full moon. In previous posts I have shared how the different moon phases affect us. This post will focus on how the first quarter moon affects us physically, mentally and emotionally.

The first quarter is considered the growth period of the moon cycle. The intentions that were set during the dark moon are beginning to take shape and during this time it is common to take on more than can be done. This is a great time to take classes or learn new skills that will help you to grow and accomplish your intentions and goals. It is also a great time to connect with God/Divine/Universe/Spirit to develop a deeper connection to ourselves and the world around us.

During the first quarter moon energy is more balanced than the other moon phases and energy increases during 10am and 2pm. It is common to feel emotionally balanced and more outgoing. Dreams tend to be more realistic and less symbolic during this phase and it is common to have prophetic dreams during this time. You may notice that you lose weight during this time and have an increased thirst and/or hunger.

Take it easy on yourself during this time, plans tend to develop easily, but we can often bite off more than we can chew so it is important to create a balance between taking action and overdoing it. This is a period for growth where we begin to see the fruits of the intentions we set during the new moon.

This phase is the most rational time for women. During this time logic is appealing and they are more interested in discussing issues. For men they tend to be more exocentric during this time. This is a great time for men to focus on their job or other mundanity because this period brings along the least emotion manifested.

What’s In Store By the Stars – Daily Astrology Trends

The Moon continues its transit of Sagittarius until 7:07 AM EDT, after which the Moon moves through the sign of Capricorn. The Capricorn Moon harmonizes with Uranus and Venus as well as aligns with Saturn today. We enjoy making small changes that benefit our projects. We have a broader sense of responsibility and naturally take an inventory of our priorities. We are cautious and draw upon common sense when making decisions with this practical Moon position that encourages us to pay attention to structures, rules, and goals. As the day advances, we may be feeling pleasantly attached, finding it natural and easy to nurture and support people in our lives.

The Moon is void until it enters Capricorn at 7:07 AM EDT.

The sky this week for September 17 to 23

During this last full week of summer, Mars and Jupiter are out in full force, and asteroid Vesta passes near one of the sky’s most beautiful nebulae.
By Richard Talcott

Monday, September 17

The waxing gibbous Moon stands 4° to Saturn’s upper left this evening. Although bright moonlight hampers observations of the ringed planet, wait a day or two for it to move away and return Saturn to its glory. The planet lies nearly due south and at its highest altitude as darkness falls this week. It shines at magnitude 0.4, more than a full magnitude brighter than any of the background stars in its host constellation, Sagittarius. If you own a telescope, there’s no better target than Saturn. Even the smallest instrument shows Saturn’s 17″-diameter disk surrounded by a dramatic ring system that spans 38″ and tilts 27° to our line of sight.

Tuesday, September 18

Asteroid hunters have a great opportunity to spot Vesta in the vicinity of one of the Milky Way’s brightest star-forming regions this week. The 7th-magnitude minor planet resides in western Sagittarius, a region currently hosting the major planet Saturn. Vesta lies a few degrees southwest of Saturn. But of even more interest, the asteroid lies less than 2° southwest on the Lagoon Nebula (M8) tonight. On Friday evening, Vesta will slide 1° due south of the Lagoon.

Although autumn arrives with the equinox this coming weekend, the Summer Triangle remains prominent in the evening sky. Look high in the west after darkness falls and your eyes will fall on the brilliant star Vega in the constellation Lyra the Harp. At magnitude 0.0, Vega is the brightest member of the Triangle. The second-brightest star, magnitude 0.8 Altair in Aquila the Eagle, lies some 35° southeast of Vega. The asterism’s dimmest member, magnitude 1.3 Deneb in Cygnus the Swan, stands about 25° east-northeast of Vega. For observers at mid-northern latitudes, Deneb passes through the zenith around 10 p.m. local daylight time, nearly 90 minutes after the last vestiges of twilight have disappeared.

Wednesday, September 19

The waxing gibbous Moon stands 4° above Mars in this evening’s sky. The two make lovely companions from twilight until they set near 2 a.m. local daylight time.

The Moon reaches apogee, the farthest point in its orbit around Earth, at 8:53 p.m. EDT. It then lies 251,578 miles (404,876 kilometers) from Earth’s center.

Thursday, September 20

Saturn and its rings always look wonderful when viewed through a telescope, but this evening provides a great opportunity to target the planet’s moons through an 8-inch or larger instrument. Two inner moons — 12th-magnitude Enceladus and 13th-magnitude Mimas — reach greatest eastern elongation within an hour of each other and show up under good viewing conditions. (The bright glare of the rings normally masks these moons when they lie closer to the planet.) The two stand just beyond the rings’ edge halfway between the 10th-magnitude satellites Dione and Tethys.

Mercury reaches superior conjunction at 10 p.m. EDT. This means the innermost planet lies on the opposite side of the Sun from Earth and remains hidden in our star’s glare. It will return to view in the evening sky, though just barely, in late October.

Friday, September 21

Venus peaks at magnitude –4.8 this evening, shining brighter than at any other time during this evening apparition. (The difference is essentially imperceptible, however — it appears only a thousandth of a magnitude brighter today than it did yesterday or will tomorrow.) Venus lies only 5° high in the southwest a half-hour after sundown, however, so you’ll have to look for it from a site with an unobstructed horizon. As the inner planet swings closer to a direct line between the Sun and Earth, its telescopic appearance changes quickly. Tonight, Venus’ disk spans 40″ and appears about one-quarter lit.

Saturday, September 22

With the days growing shorter and kids back in school, it shouldn’t be surprising that summer’s reign is just about over. The warmest season comes to an official close at 9:54 p.m. EDT, when Earth reaches the autumnal equinox. This marks the moment when the Sun crosses the celestial equator traveling south. Our star rises due east and sets due west today. If the Sun were a point of light and Earth had no atmosphere, everyone would get 12 hours of sunlight and 12 hours of darkness. But the air and finite size of our star make today a few minutes longer than 12 hours.

Sunday, September 23

Uranus reaches opposition one month from today, but it already has become a tempting evening target. The ice giant world rises before 9 p.m. local daylight time and climbs some 30° above the eastern horizon by 11 p.m. The magnitude 5.7 planet lies in southwestern Aries, 12° south of the Ram’s brightest star, 2nd-magnitude Alpha (α) Arietis. Although Uranus glows brightly enough to see with the naked eye under a dark sky, binoculars make the task much easier. A telescope reveals the planet’s blue-green disk, which spans 3.7″.

In the Sky This Month

September 17: Andromeda
Andromeda, the princess, is in the east and northeast as the sky gets dark on September nights. It’s not all that bright, but you can find it by looking to the lower left of the more prominent Great Square of Pegasus.

September 18: Distant Galaxy
M31, the Andromeda galaxy, is about 2.5 million light-years away, in the constellation Andromeda. Under dark skies, it is just visible as a hazy smudge of light. It is the farthest object that most people can see with their eyes alone.

September 19: Moon and Mars
Mars stands close below the Moon as darkness falls tonight. Although it has faded a good bit since its peak in July, the planet still looks like a bright orange star.

September 20: M15
M15, one of the brightest globular clusters, is high in the southeast this evening. It consists of hundreds of thousands of stars squeezed into a region of space only a few light-years across. It is an easy target for binoculars

September 21: Autumn
Fall arrives in the northern hemisphere this weekend. It’s the autumnal equinox, which is the point at which the Sun crosses the equator from north to south. It occurs at 8:54 p.m. CDT Saturday.

September 22: Fomalhaut System
Fomalhaut, the leading light of Piscis Austrinus, the southern fish, is quite bright. It rises to the lower right of the Moon tonight, and stands below the Moon around midnight. It’s in a fairly barren region of sky, which makes it easier to pick out.

Your Daily Cosmic Calendar for Monday, September 17

Before the void moon in Sagittarius has a chance to enter Capricorn (4:09am), the lunar orb makes its monthly convergence with Vesta (3:42am). This is your cosmic reminder to focus attention on safety and security measures, investments and insurance coverage, home and hearth, sisterhood and fellowship gatherings. The moon in Capricorn stimulates the need for changes and innovations in professional matters during a trine to Uranus (7:58am), but then a conservative wave develops during the monthly lunar union with Saturn (9:26am). Avoid self-doubts and old fears that can put you into a temporary pessimistic frame of mind. The moon forming a supportive, 60-degree alliance with Venus (3:04pm) — supplemented by nurturing vibes contained within a parallel between Mercury and Ceres at 4:52pm — can pull you out of any self-generated stupor. Asteroid watchers should note that Vesta re-enters Capricorn (9:04pm) until December 1.

Moon in Sagittarius

The Moon is traveling through Sagittarius. The grass looks greener on the other side during this time. Jump ship. Learn a new language. Tell it like it is. Make people laugh.

The Moon is at her most optimistic and upbeat in Sagittarius. We are motivated by a need to seek the truth, and we are ready to pursue a new vision. We are not interested in details just now. Instead, we focus on the big picture. New experiences and adventures satisfy a deep emotional need. Spontaneity is the key. We may also be inclined toward overdoing and overstating. We don’t want to plan ahead, and prefer to “wing it”.

The Moon in Sagittarius generally favors the following activities: Adventurous activities that involve “winging it”, travel, higher education, starting publishing projects, advertising, sports, physical activity.

Amusing Lunar Facts

What is the Moon? It is not a planet, although many scientists may think of it as one! It is a satellite of the Earth. In other words, it is a big chunk of rock, orbiting the Earth and is kept within a certain distance from the Earth (approx. 238,866 miles away) because of the Earth’s gravitational pull. Without that gravitational pull, the Moon would move farther out into space away from the Earth. Also, the Moon’s gravity affects our ocean tides. Obviously, as with astrology, there is a fine balance between the Sun, Moon and Earth.

The Moon is larger than Pluto with a diameter of approximately 2,160 miles. It takes approximately 27.3 days to travel all the way around the earth, moving at a rate of a little over one-half mile each second. According to some scientists, the Moon’s rate of orbit is slowing down and it is slowly moving away from the Earth.

It is believed that asteroids crashing into it millions of years ago created the many craters on the Moon. Since there is almost no atmosphere, there is essentially no wind or rain to cause these craters to erode or change. Also, because of this, the temperatures on the “sunny-side” of the Moon can reach 273°F while on the dark-side the temperatures plummet to a chilly -243°F.

Runecasting Divination

RUNECASTING - DIVINATION

“Divination – regardless of the tools – works because in the system one is using the individual card/hexagram/rune etc. represent the whole in some unified way. At the moment of ‘random’ mixing, because of intent, the cards order themselves to mirror the reality of the querier.”

Sig Lonegren (Sig@geomancy.org),
author of The Pendulum Kit and books on
dowsing, labyrinths, and sacred geometry.

1. Runecasting Techniques

Runic divination, “runecasting”, is not “fortune telling”. Runecasting works deeply with the subconscious. The rune pouch with its runic symbols represents the entire universe. As one poses a question, one’s entire conscious and unconscious mind is focused toward that question, so that the runelots selected are not truly random selections, but rather choices made by the subconscious.

Runecraft operates on an ancient form of psychology. Even back in Viking times, there was a remarkable understanding of the human psyche. They recognized cause and effect, and the interconnectedness of all things. The word to describe this interconnectedness was “wyrd”, which was eventually perverted into the modern meaning of “weird”. It did not originally mean something unusual or strange. Rather, it referred to the far-reaching effects of that which one does. The concept of “fate” was also not as we know it now. Instead of a helpless predestination, “fate” meant a destiny created by one’s earlier actions. Wyrd was pictured as a web, like that of a spider. The symbology is excellent. When the spider steps onto a thread (a path) the vibrations affect the entire web and that which is contained within the web, just as our actions affect our immediate world and those around us, and the actions of others affect our lives.

When one does a runic reading, one usually addresses a particular issue, and examines the past, the present and the “future”, or rather “what will be if one follows the path one appears to be on”. The future is always perceived as mutable, changeable. The runic reading is done as an evaluation process, not as fortunetelling. One has an opportunity to look at what has occurred in the past (regarding the issue being questioned), what is occurring right now, and what direction one is headed.

A runecaster does not see the future. He/she examines cause and effect and points out a likely outcome.

Not exactly occult, is it? It’s not supernatural and it’s not very mysterious–although the uninitiated considered it a delving into mystery, much like a patient of a psychiatrist might. It’s certainly not magical or demonic. Instead it is a methodology for examining the path one is on and what the effects might be, by making use of one’s subconscious (i.e. an “intuitive perception”), unfettered by limited conscious belief systems.

Dowsing, or “divination” by bent stick or pendulum is similar. It is not supernatural. It is, again, a manifestation of one’s subconscious. All “intuitive perception” is such. Nothing magical about it, merely a means of awakening one’s right-brain.

2. How to do a Runecasting

Find a suitable place to do the reading. You do not want to be disturbed. Try to sit facing North if possible, the direction of the Gods in Norse mythology. Place a small white cloth on the surface in front of you. You work with the runes on this cloth. This cloth protects them from getting dirty and also forms the boundary for the casting.

Carefully form a question in your mind. Take your time doing this, as it is very important that you do not change the question midway through the reading. Once you have the question firmly fixed in your mind begin to gently mix the runes in their bag or container. Continue to mix the runes until you feel compelled to take up certain rune lots. (This is why it is important that the rune lots be of the same shape and size: so that you can’t identify each rune by shape.)

Continue to stir and select lots until you have the correct number of runes in front of you for the layout you will be using. Keep track of the order in which the runes were pulled, laying them in their proper position in the layout as you pull them. You can use any Tarot layout, or one of the methods described below.

Runes are oracles, and oracles are often obscure. Each rune can mean many different things. It is up to the runecaster to decide how these meanings apply to the question at hand. You may get even deeper interpretations through your own “gut” reactions to the rune’s definition. However, don’t delude yourself in thinking that you have a completely different understanding of the cast than indicated by the traditional interpretations. Stick to the recognized interpretations, but learn to expand on their meanings through insight and meditation.

3. Simple Castings

Here is one way I do a rune casting. I reach into my rune bag, stir them around a bit and pick up a bunch. I “cast” them onto a white cloth, and see how the symbols land. Some will be face down and I ignore them. If a rune is upright, it has a certain meaning. If a rune is upside down, it has a different meaning. The combination of the visible runes affects the interpretation. Sometimes the runes “sing” to me and the answer to the question is instantly clear. Here are the three non-structured castings I use most frequently. On another page I’ll describe some formal “layouts” to be used for runecasting.

4. Casting the Norns

The Norns are the Norse goddesses of fate. Urdh was the goddess of the past, or what has been. Verdhandi is the goddess of the present, what is. Skuld is the goddess of the future, or what shall be. Fate or wyrd was a very important factor in the psychology of the ancients.

A Norns cast is very simple, consisting of three runes, drawn one at a time from the rune pouch and laid in a row. If face down, flip them over as if turning the pages of a book. The first rune represents the past of the situation in question. The second indicates the present, the path that the querier is currently on. The third suggests the future, a likely outcome if one continues on the present path.

5. Nine-Runes Cast

“This method will give a detailed overview of a person’s situation, providing insight into where they are in terms of their spiritual path, and clarifying the options and possible outcomes available to them. Nine is a magical number in Norse mythology. Pick nine runes at random from the pouch. Hold them between your hands for a moment, and focus on your question (if you have one). Then scatter the runes on the table, floor, or cloth if you have one. Read the runes which land face up first. These will relate to the current situation and the circumstances which led to it. How the runes are read is largely subjective, but in general, runes lying in the center are the most immediately relevant, while those lying around the edges are less important, or represent more general influences.

“Runes that are close together or even touching often compliment each other, or may even represent a single thing, while runes which fall on opposite sides of the pattern frequently represent opposing influences. Occasionally, a rune will land completely off the cloth or fall off the table. Some people consider such runes to be particularly significant, while others ignore them completely.

“Once you have looked at the runes which landed face up (and remembered which ones they are), turn over the rest of the runes without moving them from their positions. These represent outside or future influences, and will point to possible outcomes. It is up to you to decide what the various positions and patterns in a reading mean, but once you have come up with a few general rules, try to stick with them. As I have said before, consistency is very important. However, rune readings by their nature are very fluid, subjective things. Try not to impose too much order on your readings by inventing set meanings for every triangle, square and tetrahedron. Runes are like people – you never know how they will get along together until you introduce them. Look at the patterns and relationships that appear in each reading and see what interpretations make sense to you.” from Runic Journey by Jennifer Smith.

6. Casting on the Ground

Rune-tines (such as twigs or popsicle sticks on which the rune symbols are inscribed) work best for casting on the ground. I use these simply by tossing all 24 onto the ground and read the runes which land upright, in the positions in which they land. Their relative positions give their relations. For example, if two upright runes are close or touching and lying nearly parallel, then the runes are related. If they cross, then they are in opposition. There are obviously many degrees of this, and you also have to consider groups of runes, and ones which are far away, and the general direction. This technique relies heavily on intuition, since it doesn’t have a spread to lay the runes in, like tarot would use. Between 4 and 8 runes generally land upright, which is about right for most inquiries.
