Rejoicing Day
In Germany, this is a time of rejoicing with the return of warm weather. In some regions, the old custom of “carrying death away” is still practiced. Straw effigies are carried through the streets and placed on a central bonfire. As the last of effigies is consumed, Winter succumbs to Spring.
