Your Weekly Karmic Forecast for January 22 – 28

Weekly Forecast: January 22 – 28, 2017

The Karmic Tools Weekly Forecast covers the current planetary transits which affect people in different ways and to various degrees of intensity. Take notice when it is a Personal planet (Sun / Moon / Mercury / Venus / Mars) interacting with a Social (Jupiter/Saturn) or Collective planet (Uranus / Neptune/Pluto). And pay extremely close attention when it is a Social planet interacting with a Collective planet because that means something *big* is brewing that will move large groups of people along their evolutionary paths. Tuning in to the energy and rhythm of the planets can serve as a useful *guide* as you move along your Individual Path. It also helps to understand your place within the context of the larger Social & Collective Story. Below, you will find out how these energies tend to manifest, as well as guidance and direction.

*NOTE*  There are some days when there are NO CONTACTS (besides the Moon), please note that there are no missing entries, we just list the actual Activations of each week + the day they happen.

Weekly Forecast: January 22 – 28, 2017

1/23 ~ Mercury (expression) ~sextile~ Neptune (dreams):  (3 of 3:  12/10 ~ 12/26 ~ 1.23.2017)

This is a great energy for imagination, consciousness and intuition, however, keeping a good filter to distinguish between your own perceptions and what you are picking up from those around you will be crucial to success. Your mind is on a different channel than usual and you may have to rely on other senses, like your feelings or intuitive hunches. You may be very perceptive, picking up on the thoughts & feelings of others, which if/when you are clear (and your filters are working) will yield some surprising revelations about where their consciousness is, at this time (for better or worse) and reflect an aspect of your own you may not have been aware of. Try to avoid work that requires any attention to detail. Allow your creativity to flow freely without censoring what comes through you at this time. You can organize it later. This is the energy to explore, create and free-flow!

1/27 ~ Venus (values) ~square~ Saturn (foundation):

This energy can make you feel cool & detached with loved ones. It is time to ‘take stock’ of your relationships and really evaluate the level of balance between giving & receiving. Business or personal – relationships must have a balance of give & take. You may feel more aware of your true independence in life and start reevaluating the need for certain relationships in your life. This energy pushes you to dig for your own fortitude & determination to live according to your own values & priorities and corrections or adjustments may be necessary and fairly obvious at this time. You may feel lonely, depressed or disconnected but it’s just the Universe forcing you to question or assess your current relationships, how you interact with others and how you allow them to interact with you. It’s good to periodically evaluate even the strongest relationship and check the foundation. Don’t give in to (ego-based) fears, focusing on the lack & limitation or what is not working, but instead build on your strengths and honor the goodness you’ve created together, as well as in your Self. This is the best time to be alone and reflective because the insights you acquire through this process will help you in the future.

The Witches Current Moon Phase for January 24th is Waning Crescent

January 24
Waning Crescent
Illumination: 12%

The Moon today is in a Waning Crescent phase. In this phase the Moon’s illumination is growing smaller each day until the New Moon. This phase is best viewed an hour or 2 before the sunrise and can be quite beautiful if you’re willing to get up early. It can also be a great time to see the features of the Moon’s surface. Along the edge where the illuminated portion meets the dark side, the craters and mountains cast long shadows making them easier to observe with a telescope or binoculars.

Hear now the words of Gaea:
Without me
No seed grows
No milk flows
No honey in the hive
Without my touch
No sweet exchange of breath between plant and animal
No safe nest from which to try your fledgling span
No one to miss you when you go
Without the part of you that is me
No working the earth
No food in the belly
No caring hand to help another.
(All cry out: “Hail Gaea, Mother who gives us all!”)
Remember that those who work the earth
With their own hands are closest to me.
Lie upon me when the spring comes
And give thanks that you were born here.

Mother I feel you under my feet
Mother I hear your heartbeat

The Sky This Week for January 24th – 29th

A chance to spot asteroid 4 Vesta, the Moon appearing like the Cheshire Cat, and other awesome things to look for in the sky this week.

By Richard Talcott

Tuesday, January 24

The waning crescent Moon appears 4° north (upper left) of Saturn in this morning’s sky. The Moon pokes above the horizon just before 4:30 a.m. local time followed 10 minutes later by the planet. Saturn shines at magnitude 0.5 and remains a tempting target all week regardless of whether you use naked eyes or optical aid. When viewed through a telescope, the ringed planet shows a 15″-diameter disk surrounded by a stunning ring system that spans 35″ and tilts 27° to our line of sight.

Wednesday, January 25

The waning crescent Moon drops closer to the horizon this morning, when it meets up with Mercury. Our satellite lies about 7° (one binocular field) above the innermost planet, which in turn lies 8° above the southeastern horizon 30 minutes before sunrise. Shining at magnitude –0.2, the planet shows up nicely through the twilight glow. Mercury’s disk spans 6″ and appears about three-quarters-lit when viewed through a telescope.

Thursday, January 26

Observers who target Jupiter through their scopes this morning will be in for a treat. The planet’s moon Ganymede, the largest satellite in the solar system, will be crossing the gas giant’s north polar region. The transit lasts from 2:55 to 5:02 a.m. EST.

Friday, January 27

The variable star Algol in Perseus appears faintest at 2:15 a.m. EST tomorrow morning, when it shines at magnitude 3.4. If you start watching it immediately after darkness falls this evening, you can see it dim from its peak brightness (magnitude 2.1) to minimum and then rise back to maximum in a single night. This eclipsing binary star runs through a cycle from minimum to maximum and back every 2.87 days, but the drop from peak brightness and subsequent rise lasts only about 10 hours. Algol appears nearly overhead soon after darkness falls and descends toward the northwestern horizon after midnight.

New Moon occurs at 7:07 p.m. EST. At its New phase, the Moon crosses the sky with the Sun and so remains hidden in our star’s glare.

Saturday, January 28

The brightest star in the night sky puts on a nice show January evenings. Gleaming at magnitude –1.5, Sirius shines nearly four times brighter than the next brightest star visible from mid-northern latitudes: Arcturus in the constellation Boötes. (Although the planet Venus now shines more than three magnitudes brighter.) Sirius rises around sunset and ascends in the southeast throughout the evening hours.

Sunday, January 29

Although the Moon reached its New phase just two days ago, its rapid orbital motion carries it into view after the Sun goes down this evening. Look low in the west-southwest about an hour after sunset and you’ll see its 4-percent-lit crescent hanging in the twilight like the smile of the Cheshire Cat.

Winter WolvesLet’s Talk Witch – Air Magic

Air magic pertains to all things that travel through the air. This includes cludes death, music, thoughts, spirits, dreams, and invisibility. Other specialty areas include travel magic and twilight studies. The word twilight is used here to describe the state of mind when we are not quite asleep and not quite awake. It is a shift in consciousness that allows lows for the more surreal parts of life to come into sharper focus.

Like dirt and water, each type of wind contains its own primary properties. The magical properties and purposes corresponding to the different types of winds are as follows:

Whirlwind: Whirlwinds run the gamut from gentle “dust devils” to full-blown tornadoes. This is a powerful aspect of wind to use; however, it is best to only use the violent form on the astral tral plane. This is the best wind to use to banish or destroy. Be careful with whirlwinds, even if only on the astral plane, because cause they tend to confuse.

South wind: The south wind is the warm wind of fire. It can work as an all-purpose magical booster; however, it can easily cloud a situation. The south wind brings blessings of friendship. Singing into the south wind can facilitate contact with loved ones. It is the wind of celebration.

North wind: The north wind is the proverbial wind of change. It is the icy cold wind of death and works well in spells of destruction tion or banishment. It is connected to the element of earth and can be used as a healing wind. The north wind moves things forward in time.
East wind: The east wind relates to air. It symbolizes new beginnings nings and fresh starts. This is a good wind to use for matters involving intellect and self-improvement. It ushers in clarity and clears the mind.

West wind: The west wind is the wind of love and emotion. It relates to the element of water. Cleansing and divination are favored when the west wind is blowing. The voices of the dead are heard on the west wind.

Witchery, Magick and Enchantment for Mondays

Winter Owl With WolvesWitchery, Magick and Enchantment for Mondays

Think for a moment on all of the witchery, magick and enchantments that you have discovered. Don’t be afraid to adjust spells to suit your own specific needs. Any gentle, illusory, and dreamy charms and spells can be enhanced when you work on the day of the week that is dedicated to the moon. Mondays are a fantastic day to boost your psychic abilities and to tune in to your intuition and empathy. It also gives you the opportunity to work with a different lunar phase each and every Monday, which means in one month you could work four different types of moon magicks on Mondays. How’s that for adding to your repertoire? You are going to have mad skills in no time at all.

So light up those lunar scented candles and add a little mystique to your outfit by wearing an enchanting lunar color. Wear your sparkling silver jewelry and maybe add a pair of dangling silver earrings or a pendant shaped like a crescent moon. Create lunar potions and philters; make a dream catcher and give it as a gift to someone you love. Burn some sandalwood or jasmine-scented incense today to inspire the glamour and magick of the moon. Slice up a favorite variety of fruit that is in season for a snack or share it with your love and enjoy his or her lunar and romantic qualities. Brew up a cup of chamomile tea, enchant it with a little moon magick, and relax and get a good night’s sleep.

Most importantly, get outside tonight and watch the moon for a while. What phase is she in? What color was the moon as she rose? Why not start a journal and write down at what location the moon rises and sets for a few seasons? This is a great way to teach you to tune in and to become more aware of the moon and the influence that she pulls into our lives. Try calling on Selene for her magickal assistance, and call Thoth for wisdom and strength. Get to know the Norse Mani and the Latvian Meness. These gods of the moon have plenty to teach, and if you allow their influence to cycle through your life, you’ll receive many blessings. Be imaginative, and create your own personal lunar magick and witchery. Go on….the moonlight becomes you.

Your Magickal Guide to Mondays

Enchanted little placeYour Magickal Guide to Mondays

In the word Monday, we can see part of the word Moon. In the romance languages such as Italian or Spanish, this day of the week is called Lunes and clearly relates to the word lunar. On Mondays, a variety of magick may be worked. Because Monday centers on the energies of the Moon, things like psychism, dreams, feminine energy, health, success in spiritual pursuits, domestic matters, and things of family origin are especially important this day.

Mondays are best for love magick and anything concerning home or family, thus old saying, Mondays child is fair of face, which seems clearly to relate to the themes of love and health.

Angels of Monday are Gabriel, Arcan, Missabu, and Abuzaha. Arcan is known as the king of the angels of air and the “ruler” of Monday. Abuzaha (Abuzohar) serves Monday, and is very responsive to invocations and ritual magick. Missabu is a ministering angel of Arcan.

Check whether the moon is waning or waxing to determine what your spell will be. During waning moons, do spells to rid yourself of obstacles or for wisdom and protection. During waxing moons do magic for increase of any kind or to draw something into your life.

On Mondays, the best hour to work is moonrise. Get this information from your local newspaper, astrological calendar, or almanac.

Hail, O Hathor!

January 23 was dedicated to the mother goddess Het-Hert in ancient Egypt (better known by her Greek name, Hathor and sometimes conflated with Isis). Hathor was described in ancient literature and art as the “Nile goose” that laid the golden egg (the sun), and was frequently depicted with a cow’s head–or at least a cow’s horns, often enclosing the red solar disk–and sometimes breastfeeding an infant. In sevenfold form, she was worshiped as the Hathors, when she was invokes as a kindly protector of new born babies.

Make Magic with Marjoram

For a change this evening, try a dish containing marjoram. Not only is this culinary herb, which is sacred to Uranus, said to reduce wind, but the fresh or dried leaves complement all manner of ingredients from meats through vegetables to eggs and dairy products.

Today Is Monday, January 23rd, We Celebrate….

winter wolvesToday Is Monday, January 23rd, We Celebrate….

New Year of the Trees (Israel)
THE EARTHLY MOTHER

Themes: Nature; Earth Awareness

Symbols: Trees

About the Earthly mother: This Essene goddess embodies nature and teaches us how to live in harmony with the earth. The Essenes portray her with the elements personified as four angels (earth, air, fire, water) plus two companions named Joy and Life, all helping the Earthly Mother in her work. What a magical blend to bless and energize this first month!

To Do Today: In the spirit of making every day Earth Day, why not launch the new year by giving something back to the earth in the tradition of the Israelites? Today (the fifteenth day of Shebat on the Hebrew calendar), plant a tree to rejuvenate the land. If you wish, name the tree after a deceased loved one, as the Israelites do. According to lore, doing so brings that person peace in the afterlife.

If your location or finances don’t allow for tree plantings, just water a tree. By so doing you symbolically feed the whole earth. Sit down for a moment or two afterward and meditate. Feel the rich soil beneath you, and feel how it nourishes and enriches all living things, including you.
Finally, as you’re walking around, pick up any stone that catches your eye. Put it in your pocket to carry a piece of the Earthly Mother with you as a gentle reminder that the earth is a sacred, living thing that blesses us daily.

A chance to spot asteroid 4 Vesta, the Moon appearing like the Cheshire Cat, and other awesome things to look for in the sky this week.

By Richard Talcott

Monday, January 23

Venus appears brilliant in the early evening sky starting within a half-hour after sunset. Although it reached greatest elongation nearly two weeks ago, when it appeared 47° east of the Sun, the planet will remain the evening sky’s brightest point of light through late March. It currently shines at magnitude –4.7, some 10 times brighter than the second-brightest object, Jupiter. Venus crosses the invisible border between the constellations Aquarius and Pisces today. This region stands about one-third of the way from the southwestern horizon to the zenith an hour after the Sun goes down and doesn’t set until 9 p.m. local time. When viewed through a telescope this evening, Venus appears 28″ across and slightly less than half-lit.
