WOTC Extra – Do unto others as you would have them do unto you (borrowed from us or not? You decide.)

VINTAGE WOMAN IN FANTASY BACKGROUND

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you (borrowed from us or not? You decide.)

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you

This sentence belongs to the Judeo-Christian biblical tradition. It is a simple rule that appears in various forms in most cultures. This sentence is similar to the “do not hurt” sentence, and it is a good guideline to live by. As we said above, it appears in different versions in various cultures: “Don’t do anything to your friend that you yourself hate having done to you,” or “If you have been burnt by fire, don’t throw burning embers on your friend,” and so on.

This law causes the person to think about his actions and take responsibility for them. Witches and wizards do not enjoy the convenience of “confession” or forgiveness for crimes, as in other religions. They are supposed to take responsibility for their actions and face the consequences of their deeds and mistakes. If they make a mistake, they examine what they did and why they did it, in order to be more aware and avoid mistakes in the future. If possible, they repair their deeds in the present.

Let’s Talk Witch – The “do not hurt” sentence “

VINTAGE WOMAN IN FANTASY BACKGROUND

Let’s Talk Witch – The “do not hurt” sentence “

Do as you please – as long as you do not hurt anyone else.”

This sentence is in fact the main guiding principle of Witchcraft & Wicca activity. It states that you may do as you please as long as you do not hurt anyone else – including yourself. This rule means that the person must always be aware of the consequences of every deed, and how it affects others. The word “others” does not only refer to people who the person knows or does not know, but also to nature, to “Mother Earth,” and to the members of her family – the plant, animal, and mineral kingdoms.

Most witches and wizards weigh up every action before they actually perform it. If any damage is liable to be caused, they assess the level of damage and then select a manner of action that will not cause damage. Upholding the “do not hurt” sentence leads naturally to an “ecological” way of life. The person may well become a “green,” become a different kind of consumer in order to generate less refuse and pollution, maintain good neighborly relations, and so on.

What causes “damage” or “harm” to Mother Earth is a central topic of interest and conversation in wicca groups. In the main, people agree that “damage” or “harm” includes negative actions, actions that have a deleterious effect on others or on oneself. Occasionally, a lack of action is also liable to cause tremendous damage.

About Oshion

Among gypsies, Oshion rules over all matters of fortune and fate, including having the good timing it takes to really see a lot of luck! As we go about our summer activities, oShion keeps things interesting by mixing in a little serendipity.

To Do Today: Legend tells us that Gabriel declared this day among the most fortuitous on the calendar, especially for those wanting to travel, find a new home, improve their health, or embark on any prosperous project (like looking for a new job). oShion joins in these efforts by adding even more luck to a day already filled with positive influences. Take out any lucky items and wear or carry them today to augment the energy further.

Add luck-inspiring foods and spices to your diet to help you internalize your good fortune and make it last longer than twenty-four hours. Examples include consuming oranges, pineapples, and strawberries (or juices from these fruits) for breakfast. Or, bake with allspice and nutmeg. As you dress, add a rose or violet to your outfit; both of these vibrate on lucky levels. Alternatively, carry a piece of turquoise, a piece of jet, or an apache tear in your pocket to transport oShion’s good fortune wherever you go today. Leave an extra stone at home to encourage luck there, too!

Magical Days Of the Week – Tuesday

Named for the Norse god Tyr, who was a deity of heroism and combat, Tuesday is a very martial sort of day – color associations include bright red and oranges, as well as warrior-like metals such as iron and steel.

The ancient Romans called this day Martis, after the warrior god Mars – other deities associated with Tuesday include Ares, the Morrighan, and other gods of battle and glory. Red gemstones like rubies and garnets come into play on Tuesdays, as do herbs and plants such as thistles, holly, coneflowers and cacti – you’ll notice these are all sharp, prickly plants!

One of the interesting – and more than a little amusing – aspects of Tuesday magic is that in addition to war and conflict against your enemies, this is a day also associated with marriage. You can also use this day of the week for magical workings connected to protection and initiation. Use Tuesday to assert yourself, make a mark and stake your claims.

Tuesday’s Witchery

Tuesday’s Witchery

Tuesday is the day to work any magick that falls in the category of increasing strength, courage, bravery, and passion. All of these intense emotions are linked to this day’s energies, and spells designed around these themes will have extra punch when performed on this magickal day.

So, let’s add a little passion and conviction into your life! Break out the daring red pieces of your wardrobe, and put a little pizzazz into your day. Work with Lilith, and see what she has to teach you about personal power and sexuality. Meditate on Tiw/Tyr and Mars, and see what those ancient warrior gods will show you about new tactics, strategies, and claiming personal victories in your life. Practice conjuring up that astral weapon from the meditation and use it wisely for protection and for courage.

Create a philter for courage and protection or handcraft your own Witch’s jar to remove negativity from your home. See what other Witch crafts you can conjure up with Tuesday’s magick. Create some kitchen magick on this Tuesday by whipping up a spicy stew-add in a few Mars-associated ingredients such as carrots, peppers, and garlic. Empower the stew for success, and then treat yourself and your family to a good, hearty meal. Try working with a little aromatherapy and burn some spicy or coffee-scented candles to increase your energy level.

Check the sky at night, and see if you can find the reddish planet Mars up in the heavens. Not sure where to look? Check an astronomy magazine or search the Web for more information. Become a magickal warrior and move forward in your life with strength, courage, and compassion. Embrace the side of yourself that loves a good challenge and that is passionate and daring! Banish fear, and face your future with strength and conviction. Believe in yourself and in your dreams, work hard, and you will win every time.

The Witches Tuesday

Tuesday is the day of the week between Monday and Wednesday. The name comes from Middle English Twisday, from Old English Tiwes dæg, named after the Nordic god Tyr, who was the equivalent of the Roman war god Mars.

In Latin, it is called Martis dies which means “Mars Day”. In Romance languages except Portuguese, the word for “Tuesday” is similar to the Latin name: mardi in French, martes in Spanish, martedì in Italian, dimarts in Catalan, and marÅ£i in Romanian.

Portuguese uses numbers instead of pagan names and so their word for “Tuesday” is terça-feira.
The English and Scandinavian names are derived from the Nordic god Týr:

Old English: Tiw, Tew, or Tiu
Swedish: Tisdag
Danish: Tirsdag
Norwegian: Tirsdag or Tysdag
Icelandic: Týsdagur
Finnish: Tiistai (borrowed)

The German word Dienstag and the Dutch word Dinsdag seems to be derived from the god referred to by the Romans as Mars Thingsus, the god of the thing, which might also be Týr, or possibly some other Germanic god.

The Russian word for “Tuesday” is vtórnik, meaning “second”; that is, counting Tuesday as the second day of the week.

Quakers traditionally referred to Tuesday as “Third Day” eschewing the pagan origin of the English name “Tuesday”. This has also been the custom in Iceland since about the 11th century when Jón Ögmundsson changed it to Þriðjudagur, meaning “Third Day”

In the Greek world, Tuesday (the day of the week of the Fall of Constantinople) is considered an unlucky day. The same is true in the Spanish-speaking world, where a proverb runs En martes, ni te cases ni te embarques (On Tuesday, neither get married nor begin a journey). For both Greeks and Spanish-speakers, the 13th of the month is considered unlucky if it falls on Tuesday, instead of Friday.

The Hindi/Bengali/Nepali/Gujarati/Punjabi/Marathi/Urdu word for Tuesday is Mangalwar, with Mangal being the Sanskrit name for the planet Mars.

In the Thai solar calendar, the day is named for the Pali word for the planet Mars, which also means “Ashes of the Dead”; the color associated with Tuesday is Pink.

Tuesday is the usual day for elections in the United States. Federal elections take place on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November; this date was established by a law of 1845 for presidential elections (specifically for the selection of the Electoral College), and was extended to elections for the House of Representatives in 1875 and for the Senate in 1914. Tuesday was the earliest day of the week which was practical for polling in the early nineteenth century: citizens might have to travel for a whole day to cast their vote, and would not wish to leave on Sunday which was a day of worship for the great majority of them.

In business, particularly office work, studies have shown that Tuesday is usually the most productive day of the week. Some of these people consider Tuesday to be their least favorite day, because they are not as relaxed as Monday (due to the weekend preceding it), yet they still have most of the work week ahead of them.

In French, Tuesday is “Mardi”, associating it with the planet Mars. Tuesday is also associated with the dwarf planet Pluto. This marries Tuesday with ideas of strife, battles to be won and pressing issues and jobs to get sorted. It is not a day to relax. This same meaning can be seen in the Spanish “Martes” and the English “Tuesday” (“Tyr’s day.”) In India, Tuesday is called “Mangalvar”, for the Vedic planet Mangala or Mars.

The Holly moon was called Tinne, pronounced chihnn-uh, by the Celts, who knew the potent Holly was a symbol of masculine energy and firmness. The ancients used the wood of the Holly in the construction of weapons, but also in protective magic.

Hang a sprig of Holly in your house to ensure good luck and safety to your family. Wear as a charm, or make Holly Water by soaking leaves overnight in spring water under a full moon — then use the water as a blessing to sprinkle on people or around the house for protection and cleansing.

The Sky This Week: July 12 – July 17

FantasyThe Sky This Week: July 12 – July 17

Asteroid 7 Iris makes an appearance, Pluto still shines, and the Delta Aquarid meteor shower begins to fall.

Tuesday, July 12
Pluto reached opposition and peak visibility last week, and it remains a tempting target all night. It glows dimly at magnitude 14.1, however, so you’ll need an 8-inch or larger telescope with good optics to spot it visually. Pluto currently lies in northeastern Sagittarius, some 0.4° west-southwest of the 3rd-magnitude star Pi (p) Sagittarii. See “The quest for distant Pluto” in the July Astronomy for complete details on finding this world.

Wednesday, July 13
The Southern Delta Aquarid meteor shower gets underway this week. Although the shower doesn’t peak until the end of July, you should start to see some meteors in the hours before dawn. The best time to look is between 3 and 4 a.m. local daylight time, after the Moon has set and before twilight intrudes. To tell a Southern Delta Aquarid meteor from a random dust particle burning up in Earth’s atmosphere, trace the streak of light’s path backward. A shower meteor will appear to originate from the constellation Aquarius the Water-bearer.

The Moon reaches apogee, the farthest point in its orbit around Earth, at 1:24 a.m. EDT. It then lies 251,201 miles (404,269 kilometers) from Earth’s center.

Thursday, July 14
The waxing gibbous Moon forms a flat triangle with Mars and Saturn tonight. The Moon stands highest and about 8° to Mars’s upper left once darkness falls; Saturn lies approximately 16° to the Red Planet’s left.

Friday, July 15
For observers in North America, the Moon appears 3° above Saturn this evening. The ruddy 1st-magnitude star Antares in Scorpius the Scorpion lies 10° below the Moon while Mars blazes well to the trio’s right.

Saturday, July 16
If you like observing challenges, tonight is your night. Mercury passes just 0.5° (the diameter of a Full Moon) north of Venus in the early evening sky. From 40° north latitude, the two lie less than 4° high in the west-northwest 20 minutes after sunset. With a flat horizon and pristine skies, you might just glimpse the pair through binoculars. At magnitude –3.9, Venus will be the easier of the two to spot (Mercury glows at magnitude –1.0).

Sunday, July 17
Observers of the outer solar system should target Uranus this week before the Moon sheds its unwanted light into the predawn sky. The best time to look for it is shortly before twilight begins around 4 a.m. local daylight time. Uranus then lies 40° high in the northeast among the background stars of Pisces the Fish. This morning, use binoculars to find the magnitude 5.8 planet about 4° west of 4th-magnitude Omicron (o) Piscium and 3° north of 5th-magnitude Mu (m) Psc. A telescope reveals Uranus’ blue-green disk, which spans 3.5″.

What A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood! Blessed Tuesday, Dear Family & Friends!

Lilac Fantasy

Great is the Goddess.
Deserving of honor and mention.
Great is the mercy of her waters.
Falling rain that cleanses and renews.
Great is her compassion,
Letting the love we and green plants share be
Expressed with each breath.
Great is this world, this land,
This soil – complex, simple and bountiful.
Holding all life, within mystery, in sight.
Gracious is Life to spend herself so freely.
May we all see, receive, offer return by our means

Your Secret Tarot Desire Cards for the Week of July 11

Your Secret Tarot Desire Cards for the Week of July 11

This reading focuses on your ambitions and dreams.

The Hanged Man

The Hanged Man is the most enigmatic card of the Tarot. Even Tarot giants like Waite, Crowley and Levi had trouble deciphering The Hanged Man’s true meaning. Generally The Hanged Man is thought to represent the value of surrender and selfless acts. The Hanged Man embodies the notion that sometimes to lose is to win. Unlike the aggressive Chariot, The Hanged Man creates his fate through inaction and accepts his fortune passively, without resistance. He does not struggle to control the path his life takes, but rather allows events to sweep him where they will, even if he is called upon to sacrifice himself. He is so at ease with the Fate the Universe chose for him that even hanging upside down from a tree does not ruffle his inner peace.

When The High Priestess or Strength is among your personal cards, the influence of The Hanged Man may be increased. Having The Magus or Chariot in your personal cards may diminish the influence of The Hanged Man.

The Empress

The Empress is “The Earth Mother” of the Tarot. She embodies all that is nurturing, clean and wholesome. Her powers resonate from her drive to create and care for life on a grand scale. She is in tune with Nature’s rhythm and realizes that life’s most pleasurable moments often stem from the simplest things. She is not afraid to enjoy herself–to let loose—to the point of being lavish. Abundance and luxury are important to her. The Empress is completely comfortable with her femininity and her sexuality. She is sensual, earthy, generous, and likes the good life. Still, her driving force is a need to create and nurture, and fulfilling this need overrides everything else.

When The Lover or The Star are among your personal cards, the influence of The Empress may be increased. Having the Emperor or Death in your personal cards may diminish the influence of The Empress.

Your Daily Tarot Card for July 11 is the Moon

Your Personal Daily Tarot Card

The Moon

The Moon represents those forces which remain largely hidden to us. The light of the moon provides some illumination down a path into the unknown, but not enough to brighten the landscape like The Sun, or cut through the dark shadows from which the unexpected may leap. However, The Moon is not without gifts we can use. She spurs our imagination and creativity. She can be a portal to knowledge and experience beyond the realm of our everyday lives. But Her offerings are not available to the feint of heart. To receive what The Moon offers one must have the courage to follow uncharted paths and the intelligence to find truths hidden in a bewildering setting rife with illusion. For those who can make this journey the reward may be finding the key to making their dreams come true.

Get A Jump On Tomorrow….

Your Daily Horoscopes for Tuesday, July 12

by Rick Levine

General Horoscope

We are weary of nurturing those we love even if it’s emotionally rewarding. We’re eager for some fun of our own as romantic Venus happily prances into lively Leo today. But a confusing Mercury-Neptune alignment muddles communication, confusing what is said with unspoken expectations. We can remain rational while the Moon is still in fair-minded Libra, but passion overtakes logic once Luna shifts into transformational Scorpio at 4:52 pm EDT.

Aries Horoscope MAR 21 – APR 19

Your playful spirit and warmhearted generosity make you and whatever you bring to the table a joy to behold. Your love life heats up when stylish Venus sashays into charismatic Leo and your 5th House of Romance to magnify your charm and increase your popularity. Nevertheless, you can push your luck too hard if you forget to honor the needs of others. Thankfully, recognizing people’s limits helps you to avoid stress today and during the weeks ahead. All the world’s your stage but it’s more fun when shared with someone you love.

Taurus Horoscope APR 20 – MAY 20

Uncertainty about your emotions and the unreliability of other people should dissipate as you step forward to take charge of your life. Sweet Venus waltzes into showy Leo, encouraging you to be more open when sharing your feelings with those close to you. Fortunately, you may feel more secure as Venus drifts through your 4th House of Home and Family for the next three weeks. But remember the words of John Lennon: “And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.”

Gemini Horoscope MAY 21 – JUN 20

Romantic urges may overrule your logic today and you won’t be able to think your way out of trouble. Venus marches into dramatic Leo and your 3rd House of Communication, bringing your desires into the open now. Don’t bother trying to rationalize your needs; just express what you want without any crazy expectations. Those who care about you will not only listen to what you say but could also surprise you with their support.

Cancer Horoscope JUN 21 – JUL 22

Buying things that pump up your prestige may be worth the money now if gaining a higher status stimulates your creativity. You grow increasingly extravagant as vivacious Venus moves through luxury-loving Leo and your 2nd House of Resources. But be careful not to go too far on your quest for pleasure. Stretching yourself to reach the stars is admirable as long as you are realistic when you calculate the cost of fulfilling your dreams.

Leo Horoscope JUL 23 – AUG 22

The revival of your creativity makes you feel especially attractive these days. Luckily, your admirers can’t help but notice and are more than ready to reward you with the attention and affection you crave now. Effervescent Venus enters bighearted Leo and your 1st House of Personality to enhance your self-image and increase your charisma, enchanting others with your every move. It’s exhilarating to go with the flow when the pendulum finally swings in a more positive direction.

Virgo Horoscope AUG 23 – SEP 22

You might be tapped on the shoulder now and asked to perform selfless acts of love and compassion. But there’s no need to play the role of a martyr if you must set your personal needs aside for a while. Although you may not experience the pleasure that affectionate Venus in Leo often brings, her visit to your 12th House of Spirituality all but assures a deeper level of emotional satisfaction later on. To have an open heart is to be truly alive.

Libra Horoscope SEP 23 – OCT 22

You’re in the mood to party but you might be tempted to overindulge tonight. Nevertheless, you want to spend more time with your friends when your key planet, Venus, prances into playful Leo and your 11th House of Dreams. But don’t pretend that everything is okay when it’s not. If you have deadlines you can’t meet or commitments you can’t keep, just admit it; accept the consequences and move on. Being honest can make life difficult for a while, but hiding the truth creates a deeper layer of problems.

Scorpio Horoscope OCT 23 – NOV 21

If you have your sights set on getting ahead in your career, encountering supportive people and favorable circumstances make your progress easier than ever. As friendly Venus in lovable Leo wends her way through your 10th House of Status, people in authority will come to your aid because they are attracted to your magnetic energy. Remember, there is no better way to thank the universe for your good fortune now than by offering a helping hand to someone down on their luck.

Sagittarius Horoscope NOV 22 – DEC 21

You are dreaming of faraway places and distant romances now that vivacious Venus is traveling through dramatic Leo and your 9th House of Adventure. But paying attention to more immediate obligations obviously takes priority today whether you like it or not. You may be held accountable for unfinished tasks or shoddy work. Don’t let resentment waste your precious time. Buckle down and meet your responsibilities while you still can turn things around.

Capricorn Horoscope DEC 22 – JAN 19

Gifts of love or money may start to flow when affluent Venus enters generous Leo and your 8th House of Deep Sharing. You could hear news about someone’s ambitious plans that stretch your credibility. You don’t want to rain on their parade today since you have more to gain by engaging your heart and raising your hopes than by stewing in skepticism or hanging back in fear. There’s no question about it; prosperity begins with your state of mind.

Aquarius Horoscope JAN 20 – FEB 18

An abundance of pleasure is undeniably sweeter than a handful of empty promises. But watch out for a tendency to overspend and overindulge, for you might expect too much from others when Venus shifts into extravagant Leo and your 7th House of Companions. It’s all too easy to allow your fantasies to overpower reason but this strategy only works for short bursts of time. If you must set reality aside in the pursuit of romance, remember not to lose touch with your common sense.

Pisces Horoscope FEB 19 – MAR 20

Overblown pride and outrageous revelations could set you up for disappointment at work when Venus struts into theatrical Leo and your 6th House of Employment. Grand gestures may attract the spotlight now, but demanding too much or offering more than you can deliver is a risky strategy. Pushing the intellectual envelope eventually assists your career if you do the research before filling in the details of your agenda. As Ben Franklin wrote, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!
