Celebrating Other Spirituality 365 Days A Year – Festival of Fortuna

25 May

Festival of Fortuna

Fortuna was probably originally a fertility Goddess, and rites to her would have reflected this concept. However, as she became associated with the Greek Tyche, her persona changed to that of a Goddess of fate, chance, and luck.

Fortuna’s main symbol is the wheel upon which she stands, implying the instability of human fortune. Her most recognized nized symbols are those of the cornucopia and rudder, indicating her ability to steer the destiny tiny of people. At this time of year, her temples would have been decorated with fresh flowers. Offerings would have been made to her for the purpose of bringing good fortune and luck to those who followed her ways.

DAILY MAGICKAL APPLICATIONS FOR MONDAY

Memorial Day CommentsDAILY MAGICKAL APPLICATIONS FOR MONDAY

Monday is named after the moon. The Latin term for Monday is Dies Lunae (“moon’s day”); in the Old English language, this day was Monandaeg; in Greek, it was Hermera Selenes. All of these different names and languages translate to the same thing: the “day of the moon.”

Working with the different phases of the moon is an important skill that takes a bit of time for Witches to learn. So why not cut to the chase and experiment with the day of the week that is dedicated to the moon in all of its magickal energies and aspects?

Magickally, Monday encourages the lunar energies of inspiration, illusion, prophetic dreams, emotions, psychic abilities, travel, women’s mysteries, and fertility.

Monday Is A Day of Witchery, Magick and Enchantment

Memorial Day Comments

Monday Is A Day of Witchery, Magick and Enchantment

Think for a moment on all of the witchery, magick and enchantments that you have discovered. Don’t be afraid to adjust spells to suit your own specific needs. Any gentle, illusory, and dreamy charms and spells can be enhanced when you work on the day of the week that is dedicated to the moon. Mondays are a fantastic day to boost your psychic abilities and to tune in to your intuition and empathy. It also gives you the opportunity to work with a different lunar phase each and every Monday, which means in one month you could work four different types of moon magicks on Mondays. How’s that for adding to your repertoire? You are going to have mad skills in no time at all.

So light up those lunar scented candles and add a little mystique to your outfit by wearing an enchanting lunar color. Wear your sparkling silver jewelry and maybe add a pair of dangling silver earrings or a pendant shaped like a crescent moon. Create lunar potions and philters; make a dream catcher and give it as a gift to someone you love. Burn some sandalwood or jasmine-scented incense today to inspire the glamour and magick of the moon. Slice up a favorite variety of fruit that is in season for a snack or share it with your love and enjoy his or her lunar and romantic qualities. Brew up a cup of chamomile tea, enchant it with a little moon magick, and relax and get a good night’s sleep.

Most importantly, get outside tonight and watch the moon for a while. What phase is she in? What color was the moon as she rose? Why not start a journal and write down at what location the moon rises and sets for a few seasons? This is a great way to teach you to tune in and to become more aware of the moon and the influence that she pulls into our lives. Try calling on Selene for her magickal assistance, and call Thoth for wisdom and strength. Get to know the Norse Mani and the Latvian Meness. These gods of the moon have plenty to teach, and if you allow their influence to cycle through your life, you’ll receive many blessings. Be imaginative, and create your own personal lunar magick and witchery. Go on….the moonlight becomes you.

Monday Magick Ruler: Moon Colors: Silver and white Power Hours: Moonrise.
Key Words: Magick, dreams, health, love, home and family In the word Monday, we can see part of the word Moon.

In the romance languages such as Italian or Spanish, this day of the week is called Lunes and clearly relates to the word lunar.

On Mondays, a variety of magick may be worked. Because Monday centers on the energies of the Moon, things like psychism, dreams, feminine energy, health, success in spiritual pursuits, domestic matters, and things of family origin are especially important this day. Mondays are best for love magick and anything concerning home or family, thus old saying, Mondays child is fair of face, which seems clearly to relate to the themes of love and health.

Angels of Monday are Gabriel, Arcan, Missabu, and Abuzaha. Arcan is known as the king of the angels of air and the “ruler” of Monday. Abuzaha (Abuzohar) serves Monday, and is very responsive to invocations and ritual magick.

Missabu is a ministering angel of Arcan. Check whether the moon is waning or waxing to determine what your spell will be. During waning moons, do spells to rid yourself of obstacles or for wisdom and protection. During waxing moons do magic for increase of any kind or to draw something into your life. On Mondays, the best hour to work is moonrise.

I will wait

Memorial Day Comments
I will wait

On this cool night I feel warmth
His touch on my body raises the heat within
The gentle caress of his hand brings us close
You came to me this night
We were drawn to this mountain top
Moon beams led the way
In our Scared Space we have come
Heather sways in the wind
Feet bare, we feel the power of the earth
Slowly making their way the Fae come
They have been called this night
For what will be done
Our lives will be changed
My love for this warrior will remain
Time will not distance us
For we have known each other since dawn
We stand on the mountain
Moon beams dance on the loch
This beauty is forever
He has brought his power for us
He raises me to heights unknown
I see all that can be seen
The unknown is known
I am strong under his light
We know no other
The call has come
We have answered our Goddess
Flutter of wings surrounds me
Gently, I lie upon the earth
Wind swirls around me
My gown floats beneath me
My arms raised, I call for my lover
Sweet sound of the pipes can be heard in the distance
Oh, how I want him
His voice which is so engaging
His hands which are so caring
The arms which hold me so close
My heart breaks knowing he will soon leave
For the time has come to raise arms
Our land will remain free
No storm will dissolve our resolution
But, blood will be shed
Mothers will weep
Wives will clutch their breasts in sorrow
We bury our men and sons
I will be still
I will wait on this spot
I am strong in your love
I am not ready for you to leave me
You raise me to unknown courage
I am more than I can be in your light
I will hold our land
Sword in hand we will be fire
So, say your goodbyes
I will wait….

May The Goddess Shine Her Blessings Upon Our Military That Now Serves & Those Who Have Paid the Ultimate Sacrifice!!

Memorial Day CommentsHonor Our Military

Let’s honor our military,
The men and women who serve,
Whose dedication to our country
Does not falter, halt or swerve.

Let’s respect them for their courage;
They’re ready to do what’s right
To keep America safe,
So we can sleep better at night.

Let’s support and defend our soldiers,
Whose hardships are brutal and cruel,
Whose discipline we can’t imagine,
Who follow each order and rule.

Here’s to those who choose to be warriors
And their helpers good and true;
They’re fighting for American values;
They’re fighting for me and you.

The Witches Rune – The Black Rune

The Black Rune

Keywords: Difficulty, pain.

Meanings: This is a rune of difficulty and negative influences will rule your life for a time, but as all difficulties are a learning experience it will lead to improved personal perspective and progress on your life’s path. Always consult the surrounding runes with this stone. If it lies with a positive stone, it indicates that the pain of this experience will lead to a beneficial change in circumstances.

The Witches Rune – The Ear Of Corn

The Ear Of Corn

Keywords: Good luck, success.

Meanings: This rune represents abundance, success and happiness. This is considered a lucky rune and if leading, it is very positive about your query, whether the query is about finance, business, friendship, partnership or spirituality. In conjunction with the Rings, it indicates a happy and prosperous marriage. With the Sun, it means success in your career, and with Waves, success abroad.

The Witches Rune – The Birds

The Birds

Keywords: Unexpected news, change.

Meanings: The Birds Rune means some unexpected news that may alter your life completely, especially if this is the leading rune. Generally, the news will lead to a positive change but pay close attention to the nearest runes to determine its nature. It can also mean news of friends or family that you haven’t had contact with in quite a while. Letters and documents should be watched for as they may well bring happiness.

The Witches Rune – The Wave

The Wave

Keywords: Friends, family, travel.

Meanings: This rune symbolizes your friends and family and their influence upon you. Its meaning is usually derived from the other stones closest to it. This rune is also associated with travel. A journey abroad is indicated especially if the Sun rune is nearby, but a journey for someone close to you if the Moon stone is closest. If it is near to the Rings it foretells a holiday or long distance relationship.

The Witches Rune – The Crossed Spears

The Crossed Spears

Keywords: Arguments, negativity.

Meanings: The Crossed Spears is a rune that signifies arguments and negative events. Often this can be of an upsetting nature, rather like the Tower card in the tarot. It is not all bad though. If it is near to a positive rune it may indicate the end of a quarrel and healing, especially if it lies near the Rings. This rune could mean a promotion at work, or a fast recovery if you’re ill.

The Witches Rune – The Rings

The Rings

Keywords: Love, relationships.

Meanings: The Rings is the rune of love and when it is the leading stone, it is a positive answer to your question. It is very much a rune of relationship and can indicate engagement, marriage or a new/renewed relationship. It can also indicate the need for a fresh approach to an existing relationship.

The Witches Rune – The Moon

The Moon

Keywords: Change.

Meanings: The “x” marks represent the four main phases of the moon and so you can expect changes to happen within the next 28 days. This is a particularly feminine stone and often appears in response to questions about women’s issues. The Moon rune is a messenger. It is telling you to be aware that major changes are coming to your life. Consult the runes closest to it to determine whether those changes are negative or positive.

The Witches Rune – The Sun

The Sun

Keywords: Success, progress.

Meanings: The Sun is a rune of success and positive outcome. For a straightforward yes/no question it can be read as “yes”. It also denotes progress and personal enrichment in life. When it is the leading stone it equates to the outcome card in the Tarot.

The 13 Witches Runes

The 13 Witches Runes

The Witches Runes are different from the Elder Futhark Runes in that the Witches Runes are not an alphabet. The Witches Runes are instead a series of symbols that can be used in divination. There are different version of the Witches Runes, one uses 8 symbols, another uses 10 symbols and the one discussed here uses 13 symbols. Cast the Witches Runes the same way your would the Runes.

Many runes originated at first as part of a written language, though they could be used for other uses. This includes the Futhark and Ogham runes. In more – relatively – recent years, they have been used more exclusively in the art of divination. And, with runes, it is very easy to be able to create your own sets. One can use wood tiles, clay, or write on stone. If you are exceptionally crafty, you could even try making them out of metal.

Once you have your runes, I would recommend dedicating or consecrating them. You do not have to do it, of course, but I find that it helps tune the runes to your energy and they will work better for you. If you plan to use them in rituals, you should probably use the same ritual you use to consecrate your ritual tools.

Once the Runes have been consecrated, you can cast the Witches runes on a cloth, or on the table and read the meaning of the runes that are facing upwards only. If the eye is amongst the runes look at where the eye is looking. If there is a rune in front of the eye than that is the rune you must pay extra attention to.
You can also read the Witches runes by picking on rune at a time while you ask the runes a question.

Concentrating on your question, softly cast the runes. Read each rune in relation to your question. The runes closest to you are the most relevant – the furthest away are less. Any runes that land face down so you cannot read them should be discarded as not relevant. Runes that fall very close together have a combined meaning, even if they do not immediately seem compatible.
