August 26th N. H. Current Moon Phase and Planetary Positions

MONDAY, AUGUST 26, 2019

Tommorow the Moon will be in a Waning Crescent phase. In this phase the Moon’s illumination is growing smaller each day until the New Moon. During this phase the Moon is getting closer to the Sun as viewed from Earth and the night side of the Moon is facing the Earth with only a small edge of the Moon being illuminated. This phase is best viewed an hour or 2 before the sunrise and can be quite beautiful if you’re willing to get up early. It can also be a great time to see the features of the Moon’s surface. Along the edge where the illuminated portion meets the dark side, the craters and mountains cast long shadows making them easier to observe with a telescope or binoculars.

You can use this link to go forward or backward in time for Moon phase information. If you are curious you can even find out what phase the Moon was in when you or anyone else you know was on the date the person was born.

Does the moon look the same in different countries?

As the moon orbits the earth, we see the sunlit part of the moon.

The Moon orbits near the equator of the Earth.

People in different hemispheres see the moon in a slightly different way.
In the Southern Hemisphere, people see the moon ‘upside down’ so the side which is shining (sunlit) seems the opposite from the Northern Hemisphere.

Countries in the different hemispheres see the Moon from a completely different vantage point from each other.

In the northern hemisphere the first quarter looks like a growing D, while in the southern hemisphere it looks like a C.

In the northern hemisphere the last quarter looks like a C, while in the southern hemisphere looks like a D.

To continue reading Moon’s Appearance in Both Hemispheres

Moon’s Phase Northern vs Southern Hemispheres

I need to apologize my error in posting the same information for the Southern Hemisphere as I do for th Northern Hemisphere.

The phases of the Moon are opposite of each other. For example here in the Northern Hemisphere we have a Waxing Crescent while the Southern Hemisphere has a Waning Crescent Moon. So the information I have been posting as the ” S. H. Current Moon Phase” has been wrong.

I am hoping the website we have been using moongiant.com will let me switch from Northern to Southern to get not only the Moon phase but all the details also.

So my dear Southern Hemisphere readers if you don’t see your current Moon phase for a couple days it is because I am looking for a website that shows the correct current moon phase and details for you.

If anyone knows of a website that covers what is needed to post an accurate current moon phase please email me the link at LadyBeltane@aol.com Thank you for your help with this little project!

I was hoping to find another website that contained all this planetary information but have been unable to. As you will read from the website’s itself the timing is still off unfortunately they do not say whether the clock that is 15-20 off is fast or slow. I have written to them to find out which it is but have not received an answer yet. Please tell me if you still want me to post this information that is probably wrong or not post it until they get the timing right. Thank you!

Please note: We are aware that the time listed below may be off by 15-20 minutes. This is due to a problem with the clock on our hosting company’s web server. We have contacted them several times, but they have yet to fix this issue. We are in the process of moving to a new hosting company, and we appreciate your patience during this time. We apologize sincerely for any inconvenience
