Celebrating Other Spirituality 365 Days A Year – Rain Ceremony/Fesitval of the Midnight Sun

May 14th

Rain Ceremony/Festival of the Midnight Sun

The rain ceremonies in Guatemala take place around this time every year. The exact date is determined through divination by local priests and tribal leaders. Once the five-day festival begins, the Gods (both Pagan and Christian) are invoked for aid. Prayers are offered at village churches and at numerous mountaintop shrines that dot the countryside, in the hopes of persuading the Gods to grant rain for a bountiful harvest.

In northern Scandinavia, May 14 begins a 10-week celebration that pays homage to the Goddess of the Sun, Dag, whose name means “Day” (one who shines so brightly that she illuminates both the heavens and the earth). Thus begins the 10 consecutive weeks of daylight experienced in the extreme North.

A Very Warm & Blessed Wednesday Morn’ I Wish To All My Precious Family!

Good Morning Images
Good Morning, my sweets! I am sorry about yesterday but it took longer at the doctor than I thought it would. I should know when you plan on going to the doctor with someone, plan on spending all day there. Again, I am sorry.

We have some serious business to get down too. I don’t know if you have heard about the coal mining incident in Turkey. The initial report indicates 238 miners have lost their lives and 128 are still missing and their fates unknown. I don’t know if you are familiar with the area I live in or not. Kentucky, Illinois and Virginia are all coal mining states.  On very rare occasions, we have mining disasters around here. All my mother’s people were coal miners. This incident hits home with me. I can sympathize with these poor people and their families. Coal mining is not an easy job to start with and the dangers these people face every day is unbelievable. I know our standards for mining are probably different from those in Turkey. But still 238 miners lost and the fate of 128 unknown is horrible. My heart goes out to these dear people, please take a moment today to light a candle and say a prayer for them. Pray that the 128 are found alive some how by the good Goddess’ grace.

The next topic will probably hit home with all of us. I know most of us are parents. The poor girls that have been torn from their parents by the terrorists in Nigeria. These young girls are in terrible danger. I know that the government has said it is going to start talks with the terrorists. I cannot imagine someone ripping one of my children out of their schools and never seeing them again. I know these parents didn’t either. I can’t begin to even think about what these poor parents are going through. I know I saw on TV a father desperately scanning a video looking for his daughter. You could see the pain and anguish all over his face. It is horrible to even think it but if the Nigerian government doesn’t do something, this poor man who is looking so desperately for his daughter, might never see her again. Please take time today to say a prayer for all these parents. Pray that their daughters be returned home safely and unharmed to them.

We don’t stop to realize how fortunate we are until tragedies like these strike other countries. I would pray for one day without violence, without blood shed or loss of life. Please say a prayer with me.

Have a very blessed day, my precious family! Please remember all these people throughout your day. Thank the Goddess for Her many blessings She has given all of us.

Love you,

Lady A
