Your Moon, Your Mother

What your Moon sign reveals about your mom

Maria DeSimone

One of the lesser-known facts about Astrology is that your birth chart can reveal a significant amount of information not only about you, but also about your parents and the psychological imprint they left on your soul. The Moon, in particular, can indiate your relationship with your mother.

It’s no wonder Carl Jung, and countless other psychologists, routinely used (and still use) Astrology as a tool to help aid in their analysis of patients. A horoscope, properly interpreted, can help you learn how to maximize your potential while teaching you how to overcome your challenges. And in between all of this it explains, in great depth, more about your “mommy and daddy issues” than you’d expect.

How the Moon illuminates your relationship with your mom

The Moon in Astrology represents the seat of your emotions and habit patterns. It will tell you a great deal about your instinctual nature, but will also give you valuable information about your mother and how you related to her. Your Moon sign, the house in which it’s placed in your birth chart and the aspects the Moon makes to other planets in your chart will describe an incredibly detailed story that tells the tale of how you experienced mom in your life.

Let’s say you were born with the Moon in Gemini in the 9th house of your horoscope. You might have related to your mother as someone who was intellectually insatiable, always reading and learning — possibly even teaching. Your mother was definitely always busy — maybe even too busy at times to pay enough attention to you. The intellectual experiences of your mom might have been focused on religious, spiritual or metaphysical matters (9th house). She might have literally been a professor or a published author, or someone who loved to travel.

Take another birth chart, with a different Moon and house placement — the Moon in Taurus in the 1st house. This person might have experienced mom as stubbornly independent (Taurus and the 1st house) or extremely concerned with self-preservation and taking care of the physical needs of herself and her children. Perhaps this person’s mother also encouraged him or her to express feelings rather than bottle them up (becuase the Moon is in the 1st house and all 1st-house planets are visible).

There’s an endless amount of wealth stored in your chart, so why not explore your internal relationship to your mother using your horoscope so you can not only better appreciate her, but understand the emotional impact she had on you.

Get A Jump On Tomorrow, Your Horoscopes for Saturday, July 11th

Get A Jump on Tomorrow…..

Your Daily Horoscopes for Saturday, July 11th

Aries

Aries Horoscope
Aries

Much of the day is good for being introspective and reflective, dear Aries. Doing otherwise can cause some anxiety or undue stress, at least until late evening when your curiosity is ignited and the need for variety takes hold. However, procrastination can have you busy doing many things, except the most important tasks. Be versatile tonight and tomorrow, when distractions are plenty and changes of plans are likely. Look for important signposts when it comes to home and family projects and plans. You’re more able to see areas that can be better organized.

Taurus

Taurus

Until late evening, the emotional tone of the day is set by your own sign with the Moon in Taurus until then, dear Taurus. Emotions are heightened and powerful, but easy to manage. Even so, there can be some tendency to waste time or to procrastinate. Later today, life slows down a little and emotions settle. You might be looking for new ways to make or spend money. Matters require more thought before taking action, as you’re far less impatient with the Moon out of your sign. You might also get new insight into an intimate relationship or personal problem, simply by seeing behavior patterns more clearly and objectively.

Gemini

Gemini

You can be quite fine on your own much of the day, dear Gemini, and can be content to withdraw into yourself and center yourself or digest recent events and reactions. The Moon enters Gemini later in the day, bringing emotions to the surface and some feeling of emotional urgency along with them! This is a time when you may be seeking validation, expression of your feelings, or simply a stronger connection with someone or something. Watch for impatience driving decisions and behaviors, but do acknowledge feelings you’ve buried.

Cancer

Cancer

Taking a more relaxed and creative approach to your life right now can do wonders for you, dear Cancer. The Moon spends time in your friendship sector and then, from late evening forward, your privacy sector. Both transits suggest a need to pull yourself away from competitive energies, although it may not be achieved easily at the moment. A feeling of camaraderie with others can lift your spirits and make you feel that you’re moving forward. While the need for people is strong today, later today your desire for privacy or some form of withdrawal emerges. You are more adept than usual at seeing where you need to heal from recent emotional disturbances.

Leo

Leo

This can be a good day for taking care of practical matters, tending to responsibilities, and putting in some extra effort with your work, dear Leo. There can be some feelings of being under watch or some guardedness, but this can help motivate you to do your best. Later today, good social vibes are coming your way. You are more able to let your guard down and enjoy yourself, and tend to seek out non-competitive, accepting people and situations. This can also be a good time for doing design or layout work, or for bringing more structure to a creative project.

Virgo

Virgo Symbol/Glyph
Virgo

Others tend to either agree with you or step out of the way to let you do your own thing for much of the day, dear Virgo. It’s not a time for idling, however, as you can be itching to do something different, to learn something new, or to experience something outside of the regular routine. While you may feel a little bogged down by responsibilities later afternoon, and this can prevent some of this exploration, try to allow some time for doing something different at other points of the day. Later today, more industrious, practical efforts bring rewards. The need for some structure in your life, or to reassess goals, can figure strongly now.

Libra

Libra Glyph-Symbol
Libra

This should be a good day for strategy and analysis, dear Libra. Focus can be on money matters, shared resources, intimacy, and power dynamics in relationships. While emotions can be on the darker side, it’s unlikely to be unpleasantly so, as you can more easily get to the bottom of matters. This evening, the Moon swings into your adventure sector, lightening your mood and stimulating a restless desire to move forward, discover new things, and break the routine. Even so, it’s a fine time for seeing important patterns in your studies or work.

Scorpio

Scorpio Symbol Glyph
Scorpio

There are times when it’s both kind and prudent to allow a trusted person in your life take the lead or have the floor, dear Scorpio, and this is typically the case when the Moon is in your opposite sign, as it is for most of today. Taking care of others’ needs, particularly if you’ve been self-involved or busy lately, can be rewarding now. Later today there can be a strong urge to uncover a truth, no matter how uncomfortable it may be. Alternatively, this energy could be felt through an important person in your life – he/she is looking for brutal honesty. Of course, care should generally be taken with sensitive topics, but sometimes it actually does us some good. It’s about putting something behind you.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius Glyph Symbol
Sagittarius

This can be another good day for getting things done, dear Sagittarius, and especially the not so glamorous jobs that are necessary but often seem unappealing. Today, you’re more willing and patient to see the rewards of getting and feeling organized. Find ways to get caught up in your day, as keeping busy in this way can feel good. Also find ways to increase your efficiency or productivity. Later today, you’re more likely to unwind and crave others’ company. Plans tend to be in others’ hands tonight and tomorrow, but this gives you the chance to find a better balance in your relationships.

Capricorn

Capricorn Symbol/Glyph
Capricorn

You can magnetize love, good vibes, and positive attention to you today, dear Capricorn, and it’s a good idea to take responsibility both in action and word. More than usual, your own frame of mind determines results, so make the most of it. Later afternoon, your emotions gear up to take care of the business of your daily affairs. Details matter more than usual to you now. Even so, your close relationships can benefit as you more clearly see their emotional value to you.

Aquarius

Aquarius

If you feel the urge to be alone or with only a trusted few, try to acknowledge and honor this feeling, and if possible, fulfill the need, dear Aquarius. This is a time for filling the well, so to speak – for recharging and finding your center. If you do so, late afternoon’s emotional shift towards sharing and self-expression will come more naturally and can be taken full advantage of. This is a time for turning yourself outward, so to speak, and sharing your creative self. Romance may be in the air as well.

Pisces

Pisces

Versatility equals strength today, dear Pisces. Be adaptable and don’t expect to focus on any one endeavor for too long. Open your mind to new ways of looking at things, and entertain a variety of perspectives instead. Later evening brings a natural instinct to move back into your emotional shell. It’s time to find some peace of mind and reassurance, and this can come through surrounding yourself with familiar faces and places. Security becomes more important to you than variety-seeking now in this brief but important cycle that gives you the opportunity to find your emotional center.
