When we love, it isn’t because the person’s perfect, it’s because we learn to see an imperfect person perfectly.

Last night I looked up at the stars and matched each one with a reason why I love you. I was doing great until I ran out of stars.

The Witches Moon Phase for Feb. 13th – Waxing Crescent

Crescent Moon

(waxing/24% illumination)

During this Moon phase, there is a slight slowing down of enthusiasm due to an emerging desire to produce tangible results from the energy being expended. The issue of values enters into the equation and an urge to tie together the data available so that you can utilize current opportunities. There is still plenty of forward motion, and this is a great time to continue initiating and progressing forward. This Moon phase favors gaining more information and the input of others to further your plans.

Embark on the road to personal discovery

Jeff Jawer    Jeff Jawer on the topics of aquarius, new moon
Every 29.5 days the fast-moving Moon catches up to the Sun and begins a new monthly cycle. This is called the New Moon and we have one coming up very late this Saturday or early Sunday, depending upon where you are. This conjunction of the Sun and Moon occurs in the unconventional sign of Aquarius where veering off in strange directions is appropriate. It’s an opportunity to cut loose of the past, or at least some of the memories that hang us up. Aquarius is cool, independent and detached — ideal for learning to live in the present while thinking about the future.

However, one of the crazy quirks of Aquarius is that it’s a sign that believes in community but demands the freedom to act independently. Therefore this New Moon can stimulate ideas about volunteering for a cause and working for a group while inciting people to break out the limitations imposed on them by others. The connection of this seeming contradiction between being a team player and a solo star is free will. Aquarius is about having the liberty to act as we wish, which can include making sacrifices for the greater good if that’s a person’s choice. Participation should never be mandatory when this sign is present.

There is, though, an isolated side to Aquarius, which accompanies independence and originality. Freedom sounds like a great concept but it’s often experienced as alienation, leaving one with the sense of being out in the cold. This New Moon makes that possibility even stronger because it forms a hard 90-degree square with the Moon Nodes. The Nodes are the connecting points of the Sun, Moon and Earth. Planets square to them are often difficult to integrate into relationships. The experience of being the outsider, which can feel good when we want it, underscores the potential for estrangement in chilly Aquarius.

Cheers to new beginnings

Still, the fundamental gift of any New Moon is the potential for a fresh start. This is particularly so with this lunation in original Aquarius. But the price to be paid may be that we have to go through some kind of separation with the past. It could be breaking connections with someone, leaving a job behind, radically altering one’s style, discovering new social interests or making a major shift in beliefs and aspirations. Doing one of these may be a necessary first step on a new road of discovery.

Those who love us and know us best are often resistant (consciously or not) to our radical changes. It threatens the stability of their world and can be interpreted as a mistake. Yet the biggest mistake we humans may be making is the failure to question our habits, goals and values. We could be on a path of destruction that will undermine the intellectual and material progress of the past millennia if we fail to change course. The steps that we take as individuals to liberate ourselves from outmoded patterns supply the ingenuity and creative juice that just might help our species to find a necessary new direction.

The Magickal Moon’s Current Phase for Feb. 8: Waning Crescent

Crescent Moon

(waning /10% illumintion)

This is a time to rest, reevaluate and reflect, pulling back into yourself to reconnect with inner sources of strength. Now is not a time to initiate anything new. It’s a phase suited to spending time with friends and getting in touch with the “big picture.” A window of opportunity exists for seeing your life objectively and becoming aware of what is important to you. At this point, what are your dreams and aspirations? What larger goals can you aspire to that will bring vitality and excitement into your life? This is a time for resting and gaining inner strength to prepare for a new cycle.

Your Tarot Card for February 7th is The Moon

The Moon

Thursday, Feb 7th, 2013

What has traditionally been known as the Moon card refers to a deep state of sensitivity and imaginative impressionability, developed within a womb of deep relaxation. Here we dream and go into trance, have visions and receive insights, wash in and out with the psychic tides, and experience deep mystical and/or terrifying realities beyond our ordinary senses. The full moon and/or eclipse cycle charted by the Magi (as in some of the earliest Moon card images) exemplify this as a mechanism that Nature uses to expand consciousness.

The variants of the courtly lovers (representing skillful use of the sex force) or the man sleeping it off under the tree (use of drugs to alter consciousness) are also traditional avenues for tapping this primal force. Human interest in higher states propels us to the frontiers of consciousness, where we cannot always control what happens. The Moon card represents the ultimate test of a soul’s integrity, where the membrane between self and the Unknown is removed, and the drop of individuality reenters the Ocean of Being. What transpires next is between a soul and its Maker.

Your Tarot Card for February 6th is The Sun

The Sun

Wednesday, Feb 6th, 2013

What has traditionally been known as the Sun card is about the self — who you are and how you cultivate your personality and character. The earth revolves around the sun to make up one year of a person’s life, a fact we celebrate on our birthday.

The Sun card could also be titled “Back to Eden.” The Sun’s radiance is where one’s original nature or unconditioned Being can be encountered in health and safety. The limitations of time and space are stripped away; the soul is refreshed and temporarily protected from the chaos outside the garden walls.

Under the light of the Sun, Life reclaims its primordial goodness, truth and beauty. If one person is shown on this card, it is usually signifying a human incarnation of the Divine. When two humans are shown, the image is portraying a resolution of the tension between opposites at all levels. It’s as if this card is saying “You can do no wrong — it’s all to the good!”

Current Moon Phase for February 4th – Last Quarter Moon

Last Quarter Moon

(waning/40% illumination)

The time of reaping is at hand. There is a feeling of completion infused into the atmosphere during the Last Quarter Moon. The opportunity opens to recognize how far you’ve come in various parts of your life. This is not a good time for new beginnings, but rather a reflective period suited to evaluating how you have been using your time and what has been accomplished. Issues of authority may arise. This Moon phase supports taking responsibility for actively tying up the loose ends of projects that are already underway.

H is for Unwanted Habit Spell

H

Unwanted Habit Spell

To eliminate an unwanted habit, make a poppet of yourself out of cloth, straw, or a carved candle.

Make symbols or words on it to indicate what you want to release forever, allowing anger to build within you that you have practiced this unwanted behavior. Call upon Pluto or Hecate to assist your resolve to fully carry out change in you life.

Using a safe container such as an iron cauldron or metal bowl, anoint the poppet with a few drops of oil of myrrh, pennyroyal, rosemary, or rue, and then carefully set it on fire, visualizing the release of your unwanted habit or trait forever.

Burn the poppet to ashes, and then take the ashes to a place where you have no need to be at any time soon. Bury it, turn firmly, and walk away. Don’t look back.

T is for Tonic

T

Tonic

Tonic waters containing the energies of the Moon embody very powerful healing benefits that bring integral balance and wholeness throughout the body, mind and soul. Clear quartz crystal catalyses the absorption of lunar energies as well as amplifies the healing benefits.

Wait for a clear night, on or right before the Full Moon. Put your crystal in a clear glass and cover with one cup of purified water.

At sundown, place the glass out of doors in a moonlit place (cover the glass with clear plastic wrap). Remove the glass at dawn. The water is now filled with the Moon’s energy. Drink the tonic every morning to prepare for the day.

T is for Talismans

T

Talismans

Cleanse all talismans in salt for forty-eight hours and then provide energy and
intent. The intent must not run counter to the talisman’s traditional significance.

Talismans must be concealed to retain their effectiveness, and should be worn on
your person, at the afflicted area. For example, earrings for ear disorders, or at the navel or on the belt for stomach disorders.

A message is reinforced with caresses or strokes.

Some talismans may consist of written words, on parchment if possible, though
any paper will do.

Whenever possible, talismans should be made at the appropriate phase of the
moon.

If the intent is to strengthen, the moon should be waxing.

If the intent is to remove a disorder, the moon should just past full.

The shape and nature of the object are important in that it’s difficult to cast
the message into a seemingly inappropriate object.
