Hail, Queen of Light!
Within each of us,
Buried deep beneath
The everyday layers of Life,
The sweat and toil and cries,
Lies the spark of genius
That of old was called Juno.
You speak to us, O radiant queen,
From that small point of light
Deep in our souls
When all seems most grey.
May that light shine ever
Within us, and let us
Never fail to find that voice
Like a single jewel
In the palm of our hands.

Chant: Lucina Lucina Lumen Lumen

(All light votive candles and place them on the floor around the altar as they chant, and then the wine is poured out as a libation to Juno Lucina.)

MARCH IS A MONTH OF LIBERATION

MARCH IS A MONTH OF LIBERATION

It is the end of the winter and as above, so below. As the northern hemisphere thaws, the motion of the cosmos also becomes more fluid, nebulous, and dramatically transitional.

The month kicks off big, with Venus in Capricorn squaring Uranus in Aries at the anaretic degree of each sign. This tense and potentially disruptive square affects intimate partnerships, financial agreements and anywhere we are cultivating abundance—but the disruption is necessary and provides us with a more clear-eyed path as we forge ahead.

Immediately after making this aspect, Venus transits into Aquarius and becomes the dazzling hyper-queer sexy android version of herself, moving collective ideals of love and sex toward excitingly futuristic and potent horizons. Queers to the front! When Venus moves through Aquarius, it is always a thrilling opportunity to reevaluate your sexuality and all of your means of attraction to be certain they are authentic to your truest self. In other words, Venus in Aquarius is an invitation to bring your eccentricity to the forefront—to come out of the closet, as it were. Even if you don’t identify as queer, Venus in Aquarius is liberating and unusual.

Mercury is spending more time in Pisces than it usually spends in any sign, and the fleet-footed messenger is considered debilitated in the sign of the Fishes. All the Piscean 12th-house dissolution energy confuses and confounds Mercury, who splutters and sinks into the murky poetic depths. Mercury’s retrograde motion surely adds to the blurriness of this transit and dominates much of March’s mood. The retrograde officially kicks off on March 5th, but we are already in the shadow period. Keep in mind, Mercury stays in Pisces all month long, so all mercurial affairs (communications, technology, commerce, among many others) are seen through the underwater lens of Pisces.

March 6 brings a new moon in dreamy, ethereal Pisces and Uranusstationing firmly into Taurus, reinvoking issues that were shaken up by its initial movement into Taurus last May. This is a major transit that will have global effects, especially on issues ruled by Taurus. Over the next seven years, we should expect colossal shifts in beauty standards, materialism, environmental consciousness, and global finance. The powerful new moon lends us the ability to center our thoughts on futurist ideals and be a part of innovation that will lead the way to a better world.

What do the stars have in store for you this year?

March 14 is arguably the height of Mercury retrograde’s shenanigans when the sun catches up to Mercury and Mercury is cazimi, or conjunct the sun. The Pisces energy will be very pronounced on this day; best to dedicate your energies to creative, dreamy pursuits rather than anything concrete or technical.

March 20 finds the sun entering Aries and spring officially begins in the northern hemisphere. A ripe and lush full moon in Libra follows, shining a healing and harmonious light on ideals we are committed to. There is an invitation to recognize the beauty in our bonds, in our agreements. Intentions set at this time are likely to flourish, but because Mercury is retrograde in watery Pisces, avoid making specific demands of the universe or being narrow-minded in manifestation work. Focus on the greater good rather than a particular expectation or outcome.

March 26 Venus enters Pisces, where she is exalted. Our sympathies are heightened, compassion becomes more possible. With this dreamy transit, the world thrums with more romance, sentiment, and nostalgia. On the same day, Mercury goes direct, alleviating some of the fog.

Finally, right at curtain call, on the last day of the month, Mars makes an ingress into Gemini, diversifying our ambitions and opening us up to new possibilities and diverse outcomes for our best-laid plans. We now have an opportunity to infuse our actions with shimmering intellect and to engage in playful contemplation of many angles. With Mercury in Pisces and Mars in Gemini creating a bit of creative tension, we may as well embrace the possibilities and try something new.

The Daily Cosmic Calendar for February 28

COSMIC CALENDAR

Whenever the moon is traveling through the last earth sign of the zodiac, the higher Capricorn energies can lead toward reaching the executive penthouse of your professional aims. While the lunar orb does make a harmonious trine with action-oriented Mars in Taurus (6:27 p.m.) and a supportive, 60-degree liaison with the illuminating sun in Pisces (7:11 p.m.), a trio of celestial party-crashers attempt to block your forward progress.

The sun forming a square and Mars making an off-kilter, 150-degree link to usually nurturing Ceres (3:10 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., respectively) materialize as frustration-builders while Venus square Pallas (1:39 p.m.) puts a temporary crimp in your problem-solving abilities. Anticipate a bold start to March on Friday when Venus enters Aquarius and contacts Uranus and Chiron while the moon attempts to mellow out the coarser natures of Saturn and Pluto by uniting with them in Capricorn.

March 2019 Ascension Energies – Creative Flow

March 2019 Ascension Energies – Creative Flow

The accompanying video to this article can be found here.

February Review

As we’ve been moving through this Year of Freedom, we are intensifying our lightbody upgrade with January’s Patient Potential, which creates an open, relaxed energetic structure. That offers greater flow as the Peace that Passes All Understanding, connects new understanding. February’s energy of Power Vision strengthened the lightbody to create more focus, clarity and determination within. As we move into March, we are energizing our lightbody to amplify our impact into our lives.

February had an interesting flow. In many ways it felt quick and smooth, as details often settled in the unconscious to be accessed at the appropriate time. This resulted in quite a few ah-ha moments interspersed in a quick clearings and readjustments. February’s spiraling of time was offering us the strength of focus within constant movement. The balance of stillness (January) and movement (March).

Creative March

The energy I was shown for March is Creative Flow. I was shown that we are energizing our lightbody to sustain our powerful flow of Love as our spiraling energy amplifies our creative expression within/without/within/without. The breath of life is flowing to you, through you and from you. Breathe life in deeply and exhale your infinite Love into your world.

I was also shown a braid—three strands becoming one pattern of life woven together. If you look at a braid and knew nothing of how to braid, it is not obvious that there are three strands weaving together. As they become one pattern, the origin becomes blended into new form.

This mimics your polarity integration of the duality experience. You are weaving opposites together, the proton and electron of potential form, weaving through you. You are the third strand, connecting two opposites together through your inner choice and your external actions. You are creation, marching forward through linear time.

You are the future, creating in this present moment, the invisible forming within. The future is offered to you now. What will you weave with it?

Freedom March

As you bless this March with your powerful Love, you may not yet see the creation. This is the continuation of the February energy of the power of your vision and envisioning your power—the reflection.

Own your power to create.

Your freedom is an inside job. Your true freedom is within you, where your stillness has the imperceptible movement to touch All. It’s invisible, it flows through your inner vision, February’s preparation. You choose to let it flow – March (is) on. Own your power to create.

You don’t have the power to control unless you can suppress another into compliance. That’s so old paradigm, and unsustainable through the movement of Time. Life will consume that. Or you can transform that. Love’s opportunity is the powerful passive force connecting opposites into new form. That connection, like your Love, begins within you.

In Summary

March will be asking you to create, to connect, to change. What will you have to change in order to hold the space of potential within you? What strand of Love will you connect, to weave into the fabric of your life? What future will you create as the present story unfolds? Hold the power of your vision. Relax into a peaceful stillness. Weave your invisible strand of Love into your life, creating the new. Own your power to create.

The Oddest Month of the Year Comes To An End

February 28, 2019

Odd little February — the shortest month of the year — comes to an end today. Historians aren’t exactly sure just why it’s so short. But tracing the evolution of this abbreviated month gives us a capsule history of the evolution of the calendar.

The modern western calendar is a descendant of the earliest Roman calendar. It included only 10 months, beginning with March. The official months were followed by about 60 days that weren’t part of any month.

That system didn\’t work very well, though, so two months were added to the end of the year — January and February. February was named, incidentally, for the god of purification.

The lengths of the 10 original months were changed to leave 56 days for the newcomers. But the Romans feared even numbers, so they added a day to January to give it 29. February was the month for festivals of repentance and for honoring the dead, so it stayed at an unlucky even number.

But this version of the calendar contained only 355 days. So an extra month was added every other year. In those years, the last five days of February were dropped.

After that, February remained unchanged until 46 B.C., when Julius Caesar introduced the basic calendar that’s in use today. He might have lengthened February to 29 days; if so, it was cut back to 28 by Augustus Caesar, who took the extra day for the month that bears his name: August.

The Sky This Week from February 28 to March 3

379344258_o

The Sky This Week from February 28 to March 3

Mercury puts on its best evening show of 2019. In the morning sky, a waning crescent Moon passes Jupiter, Saturn, and Venus.

Thursday, February 28
With the glare of the Moon now out of the way, Jupiter stands out even better against the background stars of Ophiuchus. If you target the planet through a telescope, you’ll easily see two dark cloud belts that run parallel to each other across the gas giant’s 36″-diameter disk. Small instruments also reveal Jupiter’s four bright Galilean moons. This morning, viewers across western North America get a bonus because the giant world appears to have a “black eye.” It is actually the dark shadow of the moon Europa, which crosses Jupiter’s northern hemisphere from 3:11 to 5:32 a.m. PST.

Friday, March 1
The waning crescent Moon dips lower with each passing day, and this morning, it pairs up with Saturn. Both objects clear the southeastern horizon by 4 a.m. local time and make a pretty sight an hour later, particularly if you view them under a dark sky with the glorious central regions of the Milky Way to their right and above.

The variable star Algol in Perseus reaches minimum brightness at 7:19 p.m. EST, when it shines at magnitude 3.4. If you start viewing as soon as darkness falls, you can watch it more than triple in brightness (to magnitude 2.1) over the course of about five hours. This eclipsing binary star runs through a cycle from minimum to maximum and back every 2.87 days. Algol appears high in the west after sunset and sinks slowly toward the northwestern horizon after midnight.

Saturday, March 2
If you’ve watched the waning crescent Moon these past few mornings, you no doubt saw a brilliant point of light poking above the horizon shortly after 4:30 a.m. local time. This is Venus, which shines at magnitude –4.1 against the background stars on the Sagittarius-Capricornus border. (The planet crosses from the former to the latter constellation today.) This morning, the slender crescent Moon appears less than 5° to Venus’ right. If you target Venus through a telescope, you’ll see a disk that spans 15″ and appears nearly three-quarters lit.

Sunday, March 3
Although Uranus reached opposition and peak visibility in October, it remains a tempting target. The outer planet appears nearly 30° high in the west after darkness falls and doesn’t set until nearly 10 p.m. local time. The magnitude 5.9 world lies in the southwestern corner of Aries the Ram, some 2.2° northeast of the 4th-magnitude star Omicron (ο) Piscium. Although Uranus shines brightly enough to glimpse with the naked eye under a dark sky, use binoculars to locate it initially. A telescope reveals Uranus’ disk, which spans 3.4″ and shows a distinct blue-green hue.

February 29 would mark….

The Beginning of the Salem Witch Trials

On this date in the year 1692, Abigail Williams and Ann Putnam, two young girls from Salem Village, Massachusetts, accused three local women of using the black arts of Witchcraft to torment and bewitch them. On the following day, Sarah Good, Sarah Osburne, and a West African slave named Tituba were arrested, marking the beginning of the infamous Salem Witch Trials of 1692. By the end of the year, when the trials were finally brought to a close, over 200 women and men had been arrested and jailed, 19 had been hanged at Gallows Hill, and one man had been pressed to death.

Weird Holidays Celebrated On February 28

379344258_o

Tooth Fairy Day

At one time or another, all of us have been visited by the tooth fairy. So, it should come as no surprise that somewhere along the line, Tooth Fairy Day was born. The tooth fairy herself (or himself; as the verdict is still out on whether this spirit is male or female) has been around since at least the Middle Ages although the exact origins are still unknown. In fact, the fairy may have just been a means to calm a child that was undergoing the strange experience of losing a tooth (after all, we have all been there).

Still, Tooth Fairy day is a date that is designed to pay homage to this generous spirit that is known to leave treats or coins underneath our pillow. Interestingly enough, the exact date of celebration is under conjecture; some claiming it falls in February while others state that it is held in August. This actually makes a bit of sense, for we have yet to find a way to leave a coin or a snack for the fairy, as we are not even sure if she (or he) has a pillow!

Venus Square Uranus 1 March 2019

379344258_o

Venus Square Uranus 1 March 2019

Venus square Uranus natal gives an interesting love life. Issues involving commitment in close relationships can stem from a strong need for personal independence. You are not bound by the traditional societal or moral standards which apply to marriage and intimate relationships in general.

It is not only this need for freedom, but also a need for simulation and excitement that can cause instability in your relationships. Stimulation and excitement go hand in hand with change, the prime keyword of Uranus. In the words of the American novelist Toni Morrison:

In order to be as free as I possibly can, in my own imagination, I can’t take positions that are closed. [wiki]

Although talking about her attitude toward feminism, this need for freedom mainly affects love relationships but also applies to your values and beliefs. Venus rules love, money, and how you rate, or value yourself. To maintain a healthy self-image, or to truly love yourself, you must express the spontaneous, electric nature of Uranus.

Initially, you may have a tendency to try to fit in, or live up to the expectation of family and friends. However, dull friends or a boring lover would cramp your style. You don’t like being tied down or being smothered by love. Enduring such a relationship would result from, or cause, a poor self-image. You would react to this by lashing out or doing something unexpected, like packing up your gear and walking out the door.

There is, however, a compromise available between living alone and being in an unhappy relationship. Although you don’t want to attract disloyal or overly eccentric partners, you can find someone who is open-minded, unorthodox or exciting like yourself.

The ideal relationship  is one in which both partners are able to express their uniqueness and enjoy freedom. Experimentation in the bedroom would provide the extra stimulation needed to remain satisfied and content over the longer term. Testing and challenging the rules of sexuality and relationship dynamics would also provide the thrills and excitement you desire.

This aspect can signify popularity, unique or stunning beauty and personal charm, plus great imagination and creativity. Just as relationships can start and end in a flash, you may experience some dramatic ups and down with your finances. Impulsiveness makes you fun to be around but can play havoc with your love life and savings.

Venus Square Uranus Transit

Venus square Uranus transit can challenge the stability of love relationships through unexpected urges or events. An increased need for freedom and excitement can test your patience with a love one or lead to wandering eyes. If you have been feeling smothered, confined or bored, then you may lash out in anger or through some other destructive behavior.

A healthy relationship will face no major drama, especially with an open-minded partner. Experimentation in the bedroom would satisfy your need to increased stimulation. The more demanding or conservative you partner, then the more likely you are to stir up trouble or have an affair.

I you try to resist the urge for change and excitement, and bottle this spontaneous energy up, then it is likely that you partner will express this energy through some unexpected and sudden action. Entertainment, amusement and novelties will suffice if you are not the daring type.

Singles may be attracted to exciting or eccentric people. Those who seem like a risk or are from a different cultural or ethnic background. New romance is possible but it would more likely be a brief relationship unless other longer term transits indicated otherwise.

Care needs to be taken when shopping, as you are more likely to impulse buy and spend too much and unnecessary items.

Explanation: Can magnetism affect how stars form? Recent analysis of Orion data from the HAWC+ instrument on the airborne SOFIA observatory indicate that, at times, it can. HAWC+ is able to measure the polarization of far-infrared light which can reveal the alignment of dust grains by expansive ambient magnetic fields. In the featured image, these magnetic fields are shown as curvy lines superposed on an infrared image of the Orion Nebula taken by a Very Large Telescope in Chile. Orion’s Kleinmann-Low Nebula is visible slightly to the upper right of the image center, while bright stars of the Trapezium cluster are visible just to the lower left of center. The Orion Nebula at about l300 light years distant is the nearest major star formation region to the Sun

Venus in Capricorn: Loyal, Determined, Trustworthy

Feb 3, 2019 – Mar 1, 2019

Tarot.com Staff

This is certainly an interesting cosmic combination! On one hand, there is Venus which is the planet of love, acceptance, pleasure, and the arts. On the other hand, you have earthy and Saturn-ruled Capricorn, whose focus is on commitment and work. This means that Venus in Capricorn is a time of approaching our relationships in a more mature way, and when our romances become bound by rules

When alluring Venus moves into hardworking Capricorn, she is being encouraged to take a hard stance on romance. Love must be earned when Venus is in this sign — effort counts as much as heart if you want to receive the approval of others. Relationships are built on shared goals and a willingness to get through even the most difficult of times. Venus in Capricorn rewards hard work in relationships, helping to define problems and making a commitment to solve them.

When Venus is in Capricorn

We take our relationships a lot more seriously when loving Venus moves into committed Capricorn. This transit challenges us to put in the effort needed to get the love and affection we truly desire. For those who are coupled, this is their chance to work through problems or have deep conversations about what they envision for the future. And what about those looking for love? This is their opportunity to ditch flighty flirtations in favor of long-lasting love. With Venus in Capricorn, we want our romantic affairs to go the distance.

In addition to its impact on love and relationships, Venus in Capricorn has the same serious effect on all things relating to beauty. This transit may urge us to trade in flashy pieces of clothing and edgy hairdos for a more subdued style. It’s also a great time to get started on any artistic endeavors we’ve been considering. Not only do we have an enhanced ability for building and creating things, but Capricorn also gives Venus the dedication needed to start projects and see them all the way through to the finish line.

Venus in Capricorn has a strong business aspect to it, and it could bring up themes of re-evaluating the worth we bring to our chosen professions. We might ask ourselves if we’re getting the validation we need from our employer, or whether or not we are climbing up the ladder of success the way we had hoped. There is incredible potential for reconnecting with our own inner authority and owning up to whatever it is we need to do to take our career to the next level.
