With all planets in direct motion and a lot of cosmic energy invested into new beginnings, February is slated to be an exciting and invigorating month.

Venus—our lady of love and the planet of abundance and beauty—enters orderly, determined, and practical Capricorn on February 3, just a day ahead of the new moon in Aquarius. This new moon, which occurs at the same degree as the Great American Eclipse of August 2017, signifies the end of a long and likely somewhat arduous cycle of work along the Leo-Aquarius axis, which has attempted to teach us a balance between investing in self and investing in the collective. This new moon checks the ledger for what we have learned, then clears the slate and offers us an entirely new trail to blaze. This is an excellent time to set financial goals for the future.

February 7 A lively sextile of Mars to Mercury boosts all of our social skills and brews an air of excitement, which, when combined with the waxing crescent moon, creates perfect conditions for dreaming and scheming. MERCURY RETROGRADE IN PISCES—HOROSCOPES AND HOW TO DEAL

Retrograde planets are on a mission to get off the beaten path and explore the celestial backroads. This itinerant feeling is especially true of Mercury in Pisces. Each of the planets has certain signs they call home, and for Mercury these are Gemini and Virgo. When Mercury is opposite its home signs, it is like a traveler far from home who may not have access to all its natural resources.

In its explorations of the side roads and alleyways of Pisces, Mercury can get into situations where a Virgoan attention to detail and efficiency simply won’t do the trick. In Pisces, opening to a wider mystical view of things is necessary, and this can be very overwhelming if your brain is stuck in detail mode. Fortunately, there is a small zone of Pisces where Mercury has a place to retreat and get its affairs in order. Mercury enters this zone on March 21, a week before station direct, so while this particular retrograde may be more intense initially, it won’t last quite as long as others.

ASTROLOGICAL ASPECTS OF MERCURY RETROGRADE IN PISCES 2019

Because of the back and forth motion, Mercury repeats aspects to the same planet three times during its passage through Pisces. The most difficult of these aspects is the square to Jupiter, the natural ruler of Pisces. These squares happen on February 22, March 15, and April 11. Friction with authorities is generally best avoided—this is especially true if you are a wanderer. If toes get stepped on, be generous with apologies, offer to make amends far exceeding what seems necessary, and add a touch of irony or humor.

Mercury makes three conjunctions with mystical Neptune on February 19, March 24, and April 2. It’s best to relax expectations around these dates, and keep a lot of wiggle room for yourself. With an open mind and the proper setting, exquisite visions of artistic or religious splendor are possible.
