I was going to write you a long story explaining this little fellow but I decided not too. I now have a momma cougar and six of her cubs living with me. I called the mother cougar up to get rid of a pack of wild dogs in the area. We got friendly and I started feeding her. She would come and go as she pleased. I noticed she was getting fatter. I thought “damn, she must be eating good?” Yeah, right, she was pregnant. I feel obligated to her for the service she did for me. So I have let her and her cubs move in and I protect them. Most of the farmers around here are wanting to kill the momma. If they knew where she was, they would try. That bothers me because that is how I raised some bob kittens (that is where I got Razzy from) without their mother. I am afraid that she will go hunting one night and not come back. I know if I found out someone did harm her I would go off the deep end.
But enough with that, we closed down the animal shelter when the funds got tight. Well the funds are tighter than ever now. I am still trying to recover from super high winter bills. There is practically no food left over from the shelter. I have seven extra mouths to feed. The mother needs to eat good to feed the cubs and hopefully it will stop her from hunting. Seriously doubt it, she is just doing what comes natural. If you don’t know me, I will take food from myself and place my animals first. I am an animal lover and I take in any stray the wonders by. Ok, I tried to stop. But anyway, there is food, hay, vitamins, formula and a few more things to last about 3 days. If you would like to help with their care, I would definitely appreciate it. It doesn’t take much to buy a bag of feed, or a bundle of straw, so any amount is appreciated.
Most of the time, I would have people in the office I could turn too. But I let them all go. In the hopes that they could find actual paying jobs. So you see, it is just me, myself and I. I have no one besides my family here on the net. I have thought about it and thought about and came to the conclusion, I would approach you with the topic of the cougar and her cubs. I would appreciate your help and I know they would too. As soon as the cubs are old enough, they will be returned to the wild. They just need to get fed to get grown so they can be released, lol!
Your help is deeply appreciated!
Thank you,
Lady A
