The Wicca Book of Days for August 1
Lughnasadh or Lammas
On August 1 Wiccans and Witches celebrate Lughnasadh, or Lammas (to give it its Christianized name), with a Sabbat. This ancient Pagan festival marks the harvesting of the year’s first sheaf of wheat or corn, and with it the self sacrifice of the Horned God in his incarnations as the Corn King, or the Lord of the Harvest. As its name suggest Lughnasadh (‘The Games of Lugh”) was originally linked by the Celts of Ireland with Lugh, their God of Light and possessor of a magical sling and spear, who reputedly established the original festivities in honor of his foster-mother, the Earth Goddess Tailtu.
First Fruits
It is acceptable to place fresh fruit on your altar, instead of corn, for your Lughnasadh rite. After you have given thanks to the Horned God and Goddess, and have partaken of the fruit, plant the seeds within in a pot today and encourage them to germinate.

The Pagan Book of Days for Wednesday, August 1
At this festival of the first harvest, the first corn is cut, bakes into a loaf, and offered to the goddess in thanksgiving. Lammas is the eighth and last station of the year, completion, sacred to Odin and Frigg. Celebrants would ascend the spiral path of the Lammas hill, on their way to Lammas festivities.

Lammas – The Funeral Games of Lugh

“‘Lughnassad’ means ‘the funeral games of Lugh’, referring to Lugh, the Irish sun god. However, the funeral is not his own, but the funeral games he hosts in honor of his foster-mother Tailte. For that reason, the traditional Tailtean craft fairs and Tailtean marriages (which last for a year and a day) are celebrated at this time. As autumn begins, the Sun God enters his old age, but is not yet dead. It is also a celebration of the first harvest. The Christian religion adopted this theme and called it ‘Lammas’, meaning ‘loaf-mass’, a time when newly baked loaves of bread are placed on the altar. An alternative date around August 5 (Old Lammas), when the sun reaches 15 degrees Leo, is sometimes employed by Covens.”

Lammas – The Festival of Light and First Harvest

Welcome To The WOTC’s 2018 Lammas Celebration! Sit Back, Relax & Celebrate This Wonderful & Blessed Day With Us!
“Now is the time of the First Harvest,
when bounties of nature give of themselves
so that we may survive.
O God of the ripening fields, Lord of the Grain,
grant me the understanding of sacrifice as you
prepare to deliver yourself under the sickle of the
goddess and journey to the lands of eternal summer.
O Goddess of the Dark Moon,
teach me the secrets of rebirth
as the Sun loses its strength and the nights grow cold.
I partake of the first harvest, mixing its energies
with mine that I may continue my quest for the starry
wisdom of perfection.
O Lady of the Moon and Lord of the Sun,
gracious ones before Whom the stars halt their courses,
I offer my thanks for the continuing fertility of the Earth.
May the nodding grain loose its seeds to be buried in
the Mothers breast, ensuring rebirth in the warmth
of the coming Spring.”
– Scott Cunningham, Lammas Ritual
Next on the agenda…….
How many of you had money bet that we would really show up today, lol! Just kidding, see I still have my dry sense of humor. We are going to try to get back to our regular schedule. The only thing I see coming up in August is on the 10th, I have a doctor’s appointment and we will be away that day. But that is not what I wanted to talk to you about or let you know….
I have had several people ask me if we are going to resume our Saturday Meet & Greet chats, the answer is yes. We would have had one this past Saturday but we were sort of moving. I apologize for that and beside we don’t have internet or a phone at the cabin yet. You know I am enjoying the hell out of that too. I thought I wouldn’t but I do. It seems we get to spend more time together, talking, walking, unpacking, or just goofing off. We are debating if we will ever have the internet and the phone put back in or not. Hey, it saves money. Not really, we run it off the office to the cabin, I would be boot legging and I believe that is against the law.
In regards to chat, we will have a chat on Saturday, August 4 at 10:00 am to 1:00 pm central time or till everyone gets through chatting. We are going to have another site(s) join us hopefully so we will get to meet some new people there. I hope you can drop by and say hello for a minute or two. I would love for The WOTC to have a good turn out since we are going to have visitors. Don’t make me beg, because I will, lol! The chats are picking up and I honestly hate that we didn’t have one this past Saturday I hope everyone does understand. I will announce the chat all throughout the week and I hope you plan on dropping by to see us.

To all our friends downunder….
Wishing You & Yours A Very Beautiful & Blessed Imbolc!
I know I am probably a day late on wishing everyone down under “A Very Happy & Blessed Imbolc!” If I am not a day late, then I am probably posting this and they will see it early Thursday morning down there. My life’s story a day late, a dollar short!
So how have all of you been doing? I hope super!!! I know I am having my first taste of freedom in several, several months but tired out also. I didn’t realize we had that much stuff to move. Someone told me, “we had lost everything in the fire.” Come to find out there was somethings that were salvageable and in a storage unit. Not only did we have to move the boys and my stuff out of the rental house, we also had to empty a storage unit. We had plenty of help, everyone from the office chipped in and helped. I guess we were probably moved in, not out of boxes though, in about three days. The first day, the boys and I put up our beds and packed everything we needed to spend the night. Somebody went off and forgot the TV (Jacob), which turned out not to be such a big deal after all. We ended up walking to the pond and just sitting there till the night sky came out. Then we laid back and talked about Mystie and all the memories we had at our home. The mosquitos got bad so we had to pack up and come back to the house. Darn, I guess because no one has been here the mosquitos were hungry and tried to carry us off. But Lord M put the guys to work on the yard and got rid of all the weeds, mowed the lawn and trimmed what hedges were left. It was dangerous when they mowed the lawn because of the nails and screws that had been dropped. You would hear something fly by you and it would be a nail picked up by the lawnmower. When we mow, we now need a suit of armor to do so.
We are glad to be home to say the least. We are still unpacking boxes but I told the boys, “hey, we have the rest of our lives to unpack those boxes, who cares?” I am just so delighted to be home. You don’t realize how much something means to you or you miss something to it is gone. I love this place to pieces. Lord M hired the contractors and gave them a general idea of what the place looked like before. He added a little extra touch. Remember, the place isn’t finished yet but almost. All they like to do is finish the porch which is going to surround the cabin and have landscape lights under it. The idea is for the place to look like it is floating at night. I wasn’t suppose to know about it till the cabin was finished. It was Lord M’s surprise to me and I wasn’t suppose to know anything about it till the cabin was finished. Lord M saw that Eleanor and I were getting on each other’s nerves. He knew if we stayed around each other much longer we would be casting spells against each other. So he told me the inside was complete and was liveable if we wanted to move back home. You can imagine my answer, “HELL YES!” Back to the story (see I never change, too easy to get side tracked), the contractors finished the front of the cabin. Lord M made me close my eyes and drug me outside the first night and showed me my surprise. I was stunned, breathless and couldn’t believe it, it is absolutely beautiful. I cried, the boys cried, Lord M cried, some of the contractors that were still working shed a tear and we all did a group hug. When I find my camera, keyword “when” I will take some pics and post them for you all to see.
I have to say the last few months have been hell but coming home and seeing the cabin made it all worth it. I have so much to tell you but I don’t want to bore you to tears. I do want to thank you for everything you have done for me in the past few months. Your donations, your energy, your prayers, your thoughts, have meant the world to me and the boys. You have given me to the courage to survive it all and come out better for it. I have been humbled, I have had operation after operation, I have even had a heart attack and through it all I survived. I have learned and learned a lot in the past few months, be very grateful for what you have because you never know when you will be knocked flat on your face. Even though I might not have been here, I could feel your love and prayers and you helped me to survive it all, for that my dear, precious family, I thank you!
Now I am going to catch a few winks, we are going to have a little Pre-Lammas celebration tonight and then a big one tomorrow night. Hey, we just like to party. Tomorrow night, since it is Lammas, we figured it would be a great time to do a house blessing and have a house warming. Eleanor and I will be doing the house blessing together. Oh, yes, she is still here. We might fight like cats and dogs but we love each other. We have just put money on how long Lynette and Eleanor will live together. Lynette has finally made up her mind, she is staying also. They tell me, I need someone to look out for my rump, HA!
Anyway, my luvs, we will see you tomorrow……
Till then,
Oh, how I love you and I am so glad to be back,
Lady of the Abyss
We are going to try our best to be back Aug. 1st, Till then……

We’re Going Home! We’re Going Home! The Time Has Finally Come!
I wanted to let you know that we will be off the internet for the next few days because……
WE ARE GOING HOME!
If you remember my house was burnt to the ground last Fall by a man who had been stalking me. I was in the hospital for several weeks and had several complications from having to exit my cabin through the second floor window. Well, after all we have been through, the boys and I are now getting to go home. Lord M has worked the contractors and the construction workers from morning to night. The inside of my cabin is now finishsed. All that needs to be done is put on the front porch and finish the back screened in porch. Lord M asked the contractors if we moved back in now if we would be in the way. The contractors answered with a big “NO!” We wouldn’t be in the way. So while they are working on the front, we are moving in the back door.
It seems like this day has been a long time in the coming but it is finally here. I cannot begin to tell you how happy and over joyed we are. We have already started boxing things up and we are now ready to go. So for the next few days, we will be off the internet and moving my happy rump and the boys back in my new cabin. I am sorry for the inconvenience but I will be so delighted to get back to my home and have my life return to some sort of normal, I don’t know what to do. It shouldn’t take us that long to move everything back in. Everyone here has volunteered to help and we are excited about the news that we can now go back home. I wanted to let you know where we would be for the next few days.
The store will still be open if you would like to place an order. One of the boys or myself will be keeping an eye on it off and on. We still need several items to get started housekeeping again. So place those orders! I am so happy this morning I don’t know what to do and I wanted to share the good news with you…
WE’RE GOING HOME!
Love ya,
Lady A
Till tomorrow, my sweets….
