The Witches Mini Spell Journal for November 17th

Since Winter is here (not officially) and we are spending more time in our homes. Today, we place an emphasis on Home Spells. Blessing, cleansing, nonoring the household spirits and many more. Enjoy!

SPELL FOR A PEACEFUL HOME

Gather freshly cut parsley and place it in a pan of water. Let it soak for nine minutes, and then sprinkle the water throughout the house while visualizing a calm environment.
Peace will be restored.

SPELL TO RID ONESELF OF A BOTHERSOME SPIRIT

Start out by saying
“What is dark be filled with light, remove this spirit from my sight.”
Place your hand before you, and start the flow of power out of your hand and then say the words, letting the envisioned blue-white light from your power hand fill the room or house or any other place that you might be.

SPELL TO PROTECT YOUR HOUSE

You need:
A whole head of Garlic
3 large ‘iron’ nails
9 pieces of White Thread (7 inches long each)
6 pieces each of Black Thread and Red Thread (7 inches long each)
Wax
One White Egg
Water
Wine

Twist or braid 3 white, 2 red and 2 black threads together, melt a little wax and dip the threads so that it forms a stiff twine/wick like feel. Do this two more times so you have 3 waxed braids.
Place the nails in a fire until they are red hot, while still hot (you can let them cool a little bit) wrap each nail with a garlic leaf. Then wind one of the waxed threads around each leave covered nail. In a dish or bowl make a triangle with the nails and place it in a safe place (or your altar).

Place the egg in the triangle so it stands up, sprinkle with wine and water everyday.

SPELL TO HONOR YOUR HOUSEHOLD SPIRITS

When presenting your house spirits with offerings of incense, candles or what not you can say this little chant:
“Wraith of the house, Take heart and live,
To every chamber This light I give,
To every corner This breath I send
Approve and favor my willing hand.”

HOME PURIFICATION SPELL

You will need:
Incense: 1 tablespoon pine needles 1 tablespoon juniper 1 tablespoon cedar
Make sure all ingredients are completely dry. Grind ingredients together and burn on charcoal. Then chant:
Spirits of the corners,
Winds of the quarters,
You who stand watching,
And you who hear my voice,
Guard well my home tonight

THE BROOM PURIFICATION SPELL

Before dawn, take a branch from any tree. Thank the tree for its gift and leave a coin or semi-precious stone at its base in payment. Next, obtain several brightly colored flowers on long stalks. Tie these flowers to the branch to fashion a sort of broom, then sweep the floor in every room of the house, visualizing the flowers of the broom absorbing negativity and “evil” as you work. Then, still before sunrise, leave the broom at the crossroads.
Traditionally this ritual is repeated at the first of each month.

SPELL TO BAR NEGATIVE ENTRY

You will need:
1 oz. (25 grams) Ground Cumin
1 lb. (500 grams) Sea Salt
Mix well. Start at the end of the driveway, beginning to the East, and go completely around the property, strewing along the edges of the property.
Be sure you complete the circle and rejoin where you started.

Saturday’s Witchery

Autumn

Saturday’s Witchery

Saturday is a day filled with opportunities to clean up and clear out. So if you are wondering why Hecate is assigned to this day, take another look at what she symbolizes and the magick that is associated with her. That should answer the question.

Hecate was the oldest form of the Greek Triple Goddess, as she presided over heaven, the underworld, and earth. Crossroads where three roads met were especially sacred to Hecate, earning her the title of Hekate of the Three Ways. It’s interesting to note that even after the worship of other goddesses waned, ancient people still worshiped Hecate as the Queen of the Underworld and the Guardian of the Three-Way Crossroad. It was also believed that if you left her an offering of food there, she would grant you her favors. As Hecate Trivia, her triple images were often displayed at these crossroads, where she was petitioned on the full moon for positive magick and on the dark of the moon for cursing and dark magick.

While this last bit of information sounds a little ominous, keep in mind that Hecate/Hekate was known by many titles and is a shapeshifter. Her appearance could and did change often. As a dark moon goddess, her faces are many. To some she may appear as a old crone, hunched over a smoking cauldron and draped in a midnight cape. To others she may appear as a dark beautiful, mysterious, and mature woman wearing a shimmering crown. To some she may be perceived as a maiden priestess. She was called the “most lovely one,” the Great Goddess of Nature, and the Queen of the World of Spirits. This dark goddess knows her way around the earth and the underworld. All the powers of nature, life, and death are at her command.

The Witches Guide to Saturday

Autumn Fairy By The Pond

The Witches Guide to Saturday

The planetary correspondence for Saturday is Saturn. Matters dealing with the public, farming, family ties, legal matters (such as wills and estates), taking care of debts, dealing with lawyers, financing, joint money matters, real estate, older people, banishing or binding negativity, and getting rid of bad habits all fall under the charge of Saturn. It’s easy to see why “Saturday’s child works hard for his living.”

Saturday’s angels are Cassiel, Machatan, Uriel, and Orifiel. Cassiel is the angel of solitudes and tears. He is one of the rulers of the planet Saturn and occasionally appears as the angel of patience. Cassiel links himself to dragon energy. Regarding Machatan, the only information we get is that he works well with Cassiel and is also a power of Saturn. Orifiel is an angel of the wilderness, a ruler of the second hour of the day, and also associated with Saturn.

On Saturday, the hour of sunrise and every eight hours after that are also ruled by Saturn, and that makes these times of the day doubly blessed. These four hours are the strongest four hours for conducting ritual. Check the local newspaper, astrological calendar, or almanac to determine your local sunrise.

Saturday: Even the God needs to relax

nice afternoon

Saturday: Even the God needs to relax

Here we come to the only day of the English week which brings a Roman god to our heavenly party. The word Saturday is derived from Saturn, the god of harvest and agriculture. Buying all the food in supermarkets, we can hardly imagine how important this guy was for our distant ancestors.

In Latin, the word for Saturday is Sambata Dies, meaning the Day of Sabbath (sábado in Spanish, sabato in Italian, samedi in French). Sabbath is a Hebrew word for the Day of Rest. It was the last day of the all-in-one-week creation run. A day when the God finally had some relax, lying in the Garden of Eden and curiously waiting for what happens next.

Western Lights (China)
DOU MOU

Themes: Death; Ghosts; Divination; Health

Symbols: Sun; Moon; Star

About Dou mou: Dou Mou is the Chinese goddess of the north star. To this day, people invoke Dou Mou to protect spirits of departed loved ones and to safeguard the living from sickness. From her heavenly domain between the sun and the moon, Dou Mou records each birth and death, and she is the patroness of fortune-tellers.

To Do Today: In mid-November, the Chinese celebrate the last of three festivals for the dead. Today they burn clothing for departed loved ones to keep them from death’s chill, along with money and other gifts that the smoke delivers. If there’s someone you’d like to send a message to on the other side, burn it. Dou Mou will transport it to their attention.

Because of today’s focus on death and divination, you might wish to go to a medium today or try a fortune-telling method that uses spirits guides (like the Ouija). The only caution here is to invoke Dou Mou before you proceed, so only spirits that have your best interests at heart will respond. Just as you wouldn’t leave your front door open to strangers, let the goddess stand firmly between you and the spirit realm.

To generate Dou Mou’s protection for your health, wear silver and gold or white and yellow items today (representing the sun and the moon). Or dab yourself with lemon and lime juice for a similar effect.
