AROMATIC; to open nasal passages, improve palatability of medicines or give a psychological boost. CARMINATIVE; expels gas trapped in intestines, improves digestion. DEMULCENT; soothing agent that protects mucous membranes and relieves irritation. DETOXANT; eliminates poisons. DIAPHORETIC; causes increase in perspiration and release of waste via the skin. DIURETIC; increases urine and excretion. EMMENAGOGUE; promotes and regularizes menstrual flow. EMOLLIENT; An agent that will soften, soothe and protect the part when applied locally. EXPECTORANT; removes excess mucous from bronchial tubes. HAEMOSTATIC; arrests bleeding/haemorrhage. MUCILAGE; thick aqueous solution used as a lubricant. NERVINE; reduces nervous disorders. PECTORAL; An agent that relieves chest conditions or respiratory disorders. PURGATIVE; An agent that will cause watery evacuation of the intestinal contents. REFRIGERANT; An agent that produces coolness or reduces fever. STIMULANT; increases one or more of the metabolic processes, such as blood circulation, or perspiration. STOMACHIC;An agent that stimulates the appetite and gastric secretion. TONIC; An agent that invigorates and strengthens all systems and organs.
