Next Year Goal(s) NOT Resolutions

It is very common for people to make a new year’s resolution or two. I on the other set a goal for the year and break it into 11 pieces. So I closer to the end goal to happen in December each month.

This year, my goal is to try to lose 2 pounds every month. I am a short woman at 5 feet 3 inches tall, having degenerative disc disease, arthritis, and fibromyalgia weighing 171 pounds makes my pain a lot worse. So, losing between 20 and 24 pounds will help with my physical problems a whole lot.

As i have asthma and quite a few environmental allergies, which effect my breathing. My other goal, which may make my first goal a little harder at the beginning of the year, is to stop smoking cigarettes and getting my regular vape oil down to 0% nicotine. I have not quite figured out the monthly steps for this goal yet, but when I do, I will share them.

Using the term “goal ” is a more positive word, and breaking down a big goal into smaller parts makes it easier to meet. Rather than a resolution that reminds me of a law that should not be broken. Therefore, by not keeping a resolution I am breaking a law with myself. So, to me, the word resolution is a very negative one.

Any thoughts on a goal you might like to set for yourself for 2023? If I can help you with it, just let me know.

  2. Your ideas on goals, not resolutions, are very good. May you achieve your goal ! As a lifelong asthmatic , (It nearly killed me a as a child, I was skin and bone), my father brought me back to health by giving me a teaspoon of black strap molasses in a drink each day, he told the Doctor where to go, and poured his useless medicines down the drain! I carry on his herbal knowledge myself, and those who need them, for ointments, medicines, and of course getting strange looks and comments while out gathering them. Most people do not understand, the old ways are generally the best.

  3. I agree with you, I seem to be battling the same, weight and vape. I was doing so well vaping at 3mg, now I’m so over stressed I’m back up to 6mg and mixing that with 12mg. Got hit with a nasty cold and my asthma started up again. I keep telling myself I need to quit, constantly repeating this chant in my head, and of course I’m not quite ready to do so. I’m not sure how I quit smoking like I did, I look back and it looked so easy, I know it wasn’t and I’m sure I was a bear to be around. Not looking forward to going through it again and of course the excessive weight gain that goes with it, yuck!
You have my support hon. I completely understand what you are going through and about to go through. And I love your choice of words, it is a goal. I work better with that word than I ever did with resolution. So I’m going to run with it and hope for the best 🙂
