Yesterday we took Merlin and Crystal into the vets for check ups.
Merlin is now 14 years old and has lymphoma and a bad heart. Our vet said with as advanced as the cancer is he has about 1-6 months. At his age we’ve chosen to let him go with dignity and not pump him full of medicine which his heart couldn’t handle anyway.
Crystal is doing fine. SHe’s at a good weight, was nice to everyone even when getting her shots. She too is upset because Big Dawg and I are so upset. She quit play wrestling with Merlin about 4 to 6 weeks ago so we knew something was up with him. She has also been spending more time laying next to him wherever he is to protect him. He coughs she’s got to come right there and sniff him than give him kisses.
As you can imagine this is a rough time for our family and we want to take this weekend just to be together and let the news settle. So I will not be posting as I’m sure many of you can feel my sadness coming through in the post.

Thank you. Merlin is not my familiar but a companion. My familiar is Crystal Moon who is a 2 year old Belgium Shepherd. She is a big help to myself, my husband, and Merlin right now.

Well I hope Merlin your companion has a smooth transition to the end of the journey on this world. Rest in peace Merlin. Crystal Moon is a good name for a familiar. The name I chose for my fish familiar is Gretilda Broomhilda. The name Gretilda Broomhilda is inspired by a visualization I had about another novice beginner level witch when I was deeply studying the craft.

I hope the coven and Merlin the best comfort with his departure from this life. My familiars which were two fish both died weeks after I acquired them. Both fish were dedicated to my witchcraft life by me through a spell I found in a book by an author you recommended on another page named Arin Murphy-Hiscock called The Green Witch’s Garden: Your Complete Guide to Creating and Cultivating a Magical Garden Space and very helpful. I learned that my familiars are totally in support of my witchcraft journey and are dedicated in deed. Today, I sometimes visualize my familiars flying around. When they were alive I would visualize one fish eating fish sized deluxe hamburgers in his tank in a secret compartment. I performed this spell on my own and it helped with my visualizations:
