You will need:
• A small decorative glass bottle with a lid or a stopper
• A clean dropper to easily add the essential oil
• A tiny golden sun charm
• 6 inches gold ribbon
• A label and a pen (to list the ingredients and to decorate and mark the bottle) /8 cup base oil like sunflower oil
• 9 fresh or dried sunflower petals
• Small chips or a tiny piece of carnelian
• 13 drops essential carnation oil

Pour your base oil into the bottle until the bottle is three quarters of the way full. Then add the tiny carnelian chip, the sunflower petals, and finally the essential carnation tion oil. Add the lid, hold your fingers over the top to avoid any spills, and then carefully fully shake up the mixture.

Hold up the mixture to the sunlight and allow the sun’s beams to illuminate the mixture within. Wipe off the outside of the bottle and use the label to list the ingredients and the use of the potion.

Finally, decorate the bottle by attaching the label and tying the gold ribbon around the neck of the bottle. Add the golden sun charm to the streamers of the ribbon so it is visible from the front of the bottle. Knot the charm into place. As you finish tying the bow, hold the bottle in your hands and repeat the charm below:

This philter carries the power of the sun
For health, wealth, and success, the charm is begun
The stone adds power and the element of fire
The sunflower brings fame and will grant my desire
Carnation oil to bring good health and to bind it fast

Now blend all together and make my witchery last By the power and might of this day of the sun This philter is magickally blessed, with harm to none. Store the philter bottle in a safe, dry place that will be out of direct sunlight (try an upper cabinet). Make sure to keep all philters and potions well out of the reach of children and pets.

Let’s Talk Witch – Nine Easy Steps for Making A Magickal Potion

Book & Candle Comments

Let’s Talk Witch – Nine Easy Steps for Making A Magickal Potion

1. Gather together all the ingredients you will need to make the potion. Light a chandle if you like, matching its color and dedication to your purpose. Be sure to place your candle(s) near your working surface as a focusing tool, but not in the way.

2. Draw a magick circle around your working area. For example, if you are working in the kitchen, draw a magick circle around the entire room.

3. Call in the Elemental powers to your circle. A shorthand method for doing this is by saying something like:

“I ask that the generous powers of Earth, Air, Fire and Water come into this circle> Come I pray you.”

4. Call in the spirit, the Divine, into your circle by saying something like:

“May the Divine Ones enter into this circle and bless this potion with their Divine power.”

5. Next, empower the potion ingredients.

6. Make the potion.

7. Empower the potion once more with a magickal incantation and then use it immediately.

8. Thank the elements and spirits.

9. Pull up the magick circle and put everything away.

Let’s Talk Witch – Making Magick Potions

Let’s Talk Witch – Making Magick Potions

The art of making potions goes back to the earliest civilizations and in terms of history, as one of the oldest crafts known to humankind. Brewing beer, making wine, and infusing potions are traditions that have been perfected through time. Many of the techniques making a great beer, wine or potion are the same. The mixture is often called a wort. The wort is then put through a process, which in the case of potions, gives it magickal properties.

The different ways of making potions stem from ancient medicinal and alchemical recipes, formulas that you can put together from basic ingredients in the privacy of your own kitchen. Historically magick love potions also called

philters, were often made of unappealing ingredients. You had to be extremely thristy or unaware of the contents to sip one. Today, this isn’t the case as most potion ingredients are tasty and appealing.

Potion brews can be anything from an herb tea to a fruit smoothie. One of the main things to remember when making any potion is to make it taste good if a person is going to drink it. If you are using a potion primarily for its scent, for example in a powder form, then make sure it smells good. Try to avoid unfortunate situations like the infamous wizard Aleister Crowley found himself in when he developed a perfume potion for sex magick called “It.” Great idea Aleister, but nothing came of “It,” because the stuff reputedly had a horrid smell!

Before you make your potion, be sure that you have all the ingredients and tools you will need at your fingertips. Following is a list of potion-making tools you will need:

*A ceramic, earthenware, glass, or wood bowl

*A pot, preferably one that is NOT made of metal, for brewing the potion

*A wooden spoon for stirring the potion

*Cheesecloth for straining the potion

*A mortar and pestle for grinding potion ingredients

*A container for the potion

Clean, preferably sterilize, all of your tools, especially the potion container. You can clean containers by carefully pouring boiling water into them, or you can put the container in the dishwasher, running it through the entire cycle and turning on the heat/dry cycle. This also does a good job of sterilizing contatiners. If you don’t have time to properly clean the chalice, cup, glass or other containers the potion is going in, then just make sure that it is as clean as possible. Any residue may taint the potion.

The kind of water you use is important when preparing a magick potion. Spring, well, rain, and distilled waters are better than tap water, which often contains chemicals such as chlorine and fluoride. Well water with no harmful contaminants can be used; rain water can be used as long as there aren’t any pollutants in it; and distilled water can be used for potions, but it is inert. Unless the recipe calls for it, I seldom use sea water or mineral water due to their mineral content.

Witches and wizards make potions by mixing one, two, a few or many ingredients together into one. Sometimes the ingredients are used just as they are. Other times they are ground up, shredded, pureed or crushed with your fingers or with the mortar and pestle. The herbs that go into your potion can be either fresh or dried. If you use fresh herbs, it take three times more of them than dried herbs. For example, if a potion recipe calls for one teaspoon of dried sage leaves and you want to use fresh sage, it would take three teaspoons of fresh sage to make the potion.

Processes call infusions and decoctions are also employed. An infusion, the most common method of internal herbal preparation, is usually in the form of a tea. It can also take the form of magick water. The infusion method works best when the potion you are making requires soft plant parts, such as leaves, flowers or green steams.

When using the infusion method of preparing potions, there are a couple of things you can do to make your potion more effective. One thing is to brew aromatic ingredients such as garlic and clove, in a pot with a lid that fits

on tight. The reason for this is to keep from losing the natural oils of the aromatic ingredients to evaporation. These natural oils are important for the effectiveness of the potion.

Some ingredients are sensitive to heat, so you can make a cold infusion by soaking the herbs in water for anywhere from 6 to 12 hours. A sealed earthenware pot is best for cold infusions. When preparing potions using the infusion method, only make enough for immediate use as infusions rapidly lose their potency.

The method for making a decoction potion is similar to the infusion. You begin by grinding your ingredients into a powder that you can then make your potions. Ingredients that are hard, such as bark and stems, require more heat to release their magickal properties. The use of more heat to release the natural oils of an ingredient is primary difference between the infusion and decoction methods of potion making.

The decoction method would be the one most associated with the traditional use of magick cauldrons. In this way, dried herbal ingredients are ground into powder and are cut into small piedes, and then added to the potion. The potion is made in a pot, and the ingredients are simmered and boiled in order to release their magickal properties. Again in the case of aromatic ingredients, you should use a lid on the pot to slow the evaporation process. The amount of time that you heat the mixture depends on the potion recipe. Usually decoction are strained to eliminate the hard bark and stems before using them.

At times, potions use both methods in their recipe. In this case prepare the two separately as a decoction and infusion, and then mix the ingredients together after the decoction has cooled. By doing so, the infusion ingredients are not ruined by the heat that the decoction process requires. Always stir clockwise.

The Cauldron of Kerridwen Potion

The Cauldron of Kerridwen Potion

Wolf Moon

Containing the magickal potion of inspiration, the Cauldron of Kerridwen was kept at either Caer  Sidhe or the Corona Borealis. Three drop of this magick potion would confer wisdom on any who had the courage to drink it. In mythology, nine maidens guarded  the brew, making it a task worthy of Hercules or Zena to procure the potion. Thankfully, you don’t have to go to that extreme because you can make your  own using the following instructions.

For this spell, you will need a clear quartz crystal and a chalice filled with spring  water.

Begin by clearing and programming your clear quartz crystal. Place the crystal in your power hand,  while at the same time placing the middle finger and thumb of your other hand on the bottom and top of the crystal. In your mind’s eye imagine a clear  mountain stream running through the crystal, washing it clean of all energy. Use the Vogel Pulsed-Breath technique to charge the crystal, only this time  imprint the image of the clear mountain stream instead of the moon into the stone. Pulse your breath into the crystal filling the stone with the image in in  your mind. Repeat the process three times for best results.

Repeat the process, only this time imagine all the creative things you want to put into the crystal.  Bring them all together into one image and then use your breath to pulse the image into the crystal. Do this three times to make sure the crystal is  thoroughly programmed.

Place the crystal in the cup of spring water, and leave it there overnight. In the morning, place  the potion in an enclosed jar, and use sparingly, three drops at a time, for filling yourself and everyone around you with creative energy.

A Lovers’ Moon Potion

A Lovers’ Moon Potion

When the nights are cold, it’s nice to have a warm body next to you to hold and love. This potion is best done with the one you love on a cold evening when the two of you want to set the night on fire.

To perform this spell, you will need two candles, one red and one green, chamomile and jasmine tea, and a teaspoon of honey.

Draw the circle and call in the elements. Set the two candles in holders. You light the green one and have your beloved light the red one. In unison call out the following verse:

Goddess and God of Love,

Grace our lovemaking with your fire,

So that our souls might be warm,

While gliding higher and higher;

Toward pure ecstasy!

Ayea! So Mote It Be!

In two cups of warm water, brew the chamomile and jasmine tea. Stir in a half teaspoon of honey into each potion cup. As the potion cools, sip it while looking in each other’s eyes. Imagine loving your partner completely. Let your imagination run wild. Allow the candles to safely burn down. Then take your beloved to bed and make passionate love. When drifting to sleep, give yourself the suggestion to have dreams that drive you to awaken in the morning and make love again.

Pull up the circle and say farewell to the elements in the morning after you make love again. Be sure to thank the Goddess and God for their divine blessings.

Let’s Talk Witch – A Full Moon Lunar Potion

Let’s Talk Witch – A Full Moon Lunar Potion

The power of the Moon can be utilized in many ways. Not sure where to start? Consider trying your hand at some easy to learn, yet challenging to master lunar potion making: you’ll gain a foundation of experience and understanding that will kick start your Moon magick. Here is a basic formula to get you started for the upcoming Full Moon. You can also consider adding herbs, oils or stones to personalize the recipe; just take care to use the potion only externally.

Here’s a versatile brew that can be used to create resources and reveal opportunities. Choose a symbol, sigil, or word to represent the thing you wish this potion to manifest. For example, if you want to manifest money, you might decide to use a dollar sign or a pentacle. Paint the symbol on the side of a clear glass jar while imagining the jar filled with the essence of your desire. Fill the jar with water and a handful of soil, then place it outside beneath a Full Moon. Gaze at the Moon and notice its expansive, creative energies. Ask these energies to enter and charge the water.

Sit quietly for thirteen minutes while the potion absorbs the moonlight. Swirl the jar clockwise thirteen times while visualizing the thing you wish to manifest, the fulfillment of your magickal goal.

Use this potion to charm objects and places related to your goal. For example, if you want to manifest a new car, you might anoint your key ring with a bit of this brew. If greater creativity in your artwork is what you crave, sprinkle a few drops of the potion on your studio or on your art supplies.

Witch To Witch – Goofer Dust Questions?

pagan19

We have had a few questions in regards to Goofer Dust. Mainly, how do you make it and then what do you use it for.  I have attempted to answer some of these concerns below. If you have any further question, drop us a note.

Goofer Dust

Traditionally this powder is put wherever the person has to walk through it. It causes extreme discomfort and is used to drive people away. So, if you want to get your spouse out of the house, put Goofer Dust where he or she must walk through it. So you don’t get into the stuff yourself, carefully sprinkle a small amount in and around his or her shoes. Sprinkle a little under his or her pillow.

This powder can be used in other spells to rid yourself of any unwanted person. An alternative to using it the traditional way is to place some Goofer Dust in a box. Then, place a picture of your victim alone in the box and bury it.

Goofer Dust recipes vary. Here is one of my favorite:

Goofer Dust Recipe

1 part Graveyard dust (taken from the grave of a murderer at midnight)

1 part Sulphur

1 part Ashes from a fire

1 part powdered Bones (Bone Meal)

1 part powdered Snake Skin

1 part Iron filings

In short the ingredients are thing designed to poison and kill the victim by means of magick. When it is blessed and carried in a bag with you, it becomes a protective agent.
