The Witches Digest for Monday, February 12th
(Tarot, Runes or The Rest of the Divination)
Tarot Card of the Day
Princess of Wands
This card is traditionally entitled the Page, but in some modern decks appears as a Princess. This archetype is that of a unique individual, a nonconformist, often something of a bohemian, definitely independent by nature. He or she requires little in the way of affirmation or approval. Perhaps a mischief-maker, often an innovator or inventor, the energy represented by this card will only serve others until he or she figures out how to get others to serve him/her.
This person’s freedom is so important they would rather go as a peasant among strangers than inherit a fortune with strings attached. Don’t be fooled by this humble appearance. This person is a future captain of industry or world leader, now serving an apprenticeship. These people are sometimes seen planting a staff like a flagpole into the earth in the far off wilderness (where they can start fresh without having to make any compromises). You could think of this card as a wild card.
This Week’s Tarot Card Is the Three of Wands Reversed!
Read your monthly and weekly Tarot readings for February 2018
The Wands are the suit of Fire, shown perfectly in this deck as lit sparklers. They glow brightly with enthusiasm, but any spark can start an uncontrollable fire if not monitored. This week the reversed Three of Wands helps us learn how to overcome obstacles inevitably encountered as we put our planning into action. There are a couple ways in which these disruptions might occur. First, we might start to feel out of control again as passion and momentum drive us along into busyness. If we start to lose sight of our goals, we can simply refer to the planning diagram created last week with the help of the Eight of Pentacles, using it as a map for progress, and updating it as we go.
We should also be cautious of unreliable help if we have included collaborators or assistants in our work. It’s necessary to have clear vision of the work ourselves before involving others; otherwise the potential for miscommunication is high. If we anticipated support and did not receive it as expected, we can’t allow disappointment or resentment to derail our efforts. This month’s theme card, Strength, reminds us to exercise compassion and control our temper. Throwing blame around will not get the work done any faster, and holding grudges will only hold us back. This is also true for any missteps we have made ourselves; they must be looked at as opportunities for learning rather than markers of disqualification.
Meditation on compassion for the reversed Three of Wands
Growth is not a constant uphill path. The twists and dips along the way are what refine our abilities and strengthen our resolve, so we should not fear the process. Think back on a mistake you made, either in a current project or at any point in the past when on a path to achieve a goal. How did it make you feel about yourself at the time? What were the consequences? If you still feel anxiety about this error, forgive yourself now. Consider how the mistake occurred and the lesson learned from your experience. How has it helped you to avoid other mistakes since?
Daily Love Tarot Card
A hidden aspect of the past is revealed and is something that lets you tear down a wall that keeps you boxed in. What old memory fogs the mind and your emotions today? Let it go because it is to do easy now. The freedom turns into courageously liberated, wise, and realistic energy. If single, it eases a focus on desired outcomes. That allows someone to feel free to express warmth without pressure, and they will.
Your Erotic Card of the Day
The Star card shows that your sexual energy is burning bright, and the future looks extremely promising. There may be a few obstacles in the way of getting what you want, but you’re very confident in your sexual prowess so you welcome a little healthy competition. You’re determined to pursue a sexual conquest and make them yours, and the Star predicts that you have all the right moves to accomplish your lustful goals. Your ego actually works more in your favor than against your goals today.

Queen of Swords
Often mournful from loss or infertility. Quick witted, gracious and kind but firm
Taurus reversed represents unwarranted stubborness and impulsiveness.

Your Ancient Symbol Card for Today
Throughout history the Dove has symbolized peace and innocence in nearly all cultures. Dove’s soft cooing and gentle nature bring a calmness to any situation. The Dove appears where peace has been attained or there is a need to bring events to a peaceful ending. It denotes a time to let lose of grievances and settle conflicts in a way that benefits all parties equally.
As a daily card, Dove suggests the need to put an end to conflict in your present life. The conflict may be yours or may be that of people close to you. Regardless of the parties involved, you have been called upon to bring the discord to an impartial end.
Your Mah Jong Tile for the Month of February

The Lotus Flower tile represents birth or rebirth. On a spiritual level it may indicate you are about to reach new heights in your understanding of your place in the cosmos. Physically it may suggest a child is coming, or a new project is about to emerge. The Lotus Flower tile also speaks of regeneration, and may indicate a time of recovery from hardship—a new beginning.
Your Karmic Number for Monday, February 12th
You handle yourself with decorum when faced with adversity. Buddha would consider you equanimous right now, having received this number 11. You may have even been a spiritual leader in a past life. People will turn to you during a catastrophe or for guidance about their hectic lives. The guru role suits you. If you are already a counselor of some kind, rest assured that you are helping people even if you can’t see the results yet. Whatever tools you share are being taken seriously. If you feel some agitation, step back and breathe to regain your composure. In a small way, you are saving the world. No pressure!

Earth Sky News for February 12th: Blue-white Rigel at Orion’s foot
Tonight … look for the bright, blue-white star Rigel in the constellation Orion the Hunter.
Before you can find Rigel, you need to know how to find Orion. The three sparkling blue-white stars of Orion’s Belt are easy to spot. As viewed from the Northern Hemisphere, this compact line of stars can be found in the south to southeast sky at nightfall. It is more toward the northern sky for observers in the Southern Hemisphere.
No matter where you are, if you look outside in the evening now, chances are the pattern you’ll pick out will be Orion! Yes, it really is that noticeable.
You might note that Orion’s two brightest stars – Betelgeuse and Rigel – lodge at an equal distance above and below Orion’s Belt. Rigel is shown on the chart at the top of this post. Click here to see a chart showing Betelgeuse.
Look again at Rigel. Because it lies some 775 light-years away, Rigel must be intrinsically extraordinarily luminous to shine so brightly in our sky. If this star were as close as our sun, it would outshine the sun by 40,000 times!
Although both Rigel and Betelgeuse are extremely luminous supergiant suns, the stark color contrast between these two stars makes Betelgeuse and Rigel readily distinguishable. Try binoculars, if you can’t distinguish color with the unaided eye. Betelgeuse has a reddish hue, while Rigel sparkles blue-white.
A star’s color is revealing of its surface temperature. Red stars are cool (2,000 to 3,500 Kelvin) and in the autumn of their years, while blue and blue-white stars are hot (over 10,000 K) and young, in the heyday of youth.
Astronomers believe both red and blue supergiant stars blow up into supernova explosions, though at one time it was thought that only red supergiants did so.
Look for Rigel, Orion’s blue supergiant star, at the foot of Orion tonight!
Bottom line: This post describes how to locate Orion’s bright blue-white star Rigel.

2018 February 12
Explanation: What’s that heading for the Pleiades star cluster? It appears to be Comet C/2016 R2 (PanSTARRS), but here, appearances are deceiving. On the right and far in the background, the famous Pleiades star cluster is dominated by blue light from massive young stars. On the left and visiting the inner Solar System is Comet PanSTARRS, a tumbling block of ice from the outer Solar System that currently sports a long ion tail dominated by blue light from an unusually high abundance of ionized carbon monoxide. Comet PanSTARRS is actually moving toward the top of the image, and its ion tail points away from the Sun but is affected by a complex solar wind of particles streaming out from the Sun. Visible through a small telescope, the comet is fading as it recedes from the Earth, even though it reaches its closest point to the Sun in early May.
