Blood (Harvest) Moon Ritual

Blood Moon Ritual

The Blood Moon is the last of the harvest moons, and the one closest to Samhain, the time when the veil between this world and the Otherworld is the thinnest. Also known as “moon of the changing season” and “failing leaf moon” the Blood Moon represents the death of one cycle and the birth of a new cycle. Blood is the life force that flows through your physical body. The Blood Moon ritual gives you the opportunity to give thanks and celebrate this life force.

For this ritual, you will need a white candle, a red candle, a red apple, a chalice full of cranberry juice, and three daffodil bulbs.

Draw a magick circle and call in the elements. Light the white candle and say:

I light this candle for eternal light.

Light the red candle and say:

I light this candle for eternal life.

Give thanks to the Goddess before eating the apple:

Divine Lady, I thank you for your gift of life.

Place any seeds from the apple on the altar. Take the chalice of juice and go to each of the four directions while calling out:

Oh great and mighty one, ruler of eternal life

Our blood runs together as One on this sacred night.

Thank the Goddess and bid farewell to the elements. Pull up the circle and in the morning, take the three daffodil bulbs and plant them into the ground. They represent the eternal life of the divine Goddess being renewed for the next year. Return the apple seeds to the earth.

  1. Hey there Lady A, I just wanted to express my gratitude for this Blood Moon harvest ritual. Less than a few hours ago my lady and I incorporated elements of your ritual along with a few of our own techniques. We observed the Eclipse and the full moon and it was beyond majestical. Thank you so much, this ritual is definitely going in the old book o shadows. Blessed be. )( * )(

  2. Honoured Lady,

    Thank you for this post.
I have just started my 46th year, moved into a new home and recently started a new career.
I was looking for a way to sanctify the new home and this next trip around the sun.
Call it what you will but this weekend we are blessed by an eclipsed Blood Moon.
I shall call the corners cast my first circle in my new yard and expressmy deepest gratitude to All, including a side note for you and yours.

  3. Dearest lady, i have always been interested in witch craft and during seasonal times, beginning and end i feel drawn towards this feeling of interest more. During the solar eclipse i felt a very magical feeling in the air. How do I begin do I begin to call the elements?

    1. FERNE MIHELL-It can be dangerous just to call on the elements if you have no other training in working magick. I do mentor novice witches or those that may be interested in learning The Craft. IF you want more information on how to get in touch with me click on the link for our sister site Coven Life and the information is on the home page.

  4. Lady A, I love coming back to see what you’ve posted and I’m never disappointed. Thank you.
I have a suggestion for the previous writer who has *writers block*. Your suggestion is great.. another thing to try.. and it might sound weird.. is to get a piece of paper and a pen/pencil.. and just begin writing. Write whatever pops into your head. Even if its just a bunch of words that don’t make sense.. sentences that are nonsense, just keep writing and eventually it might just click. I’ve done this before and it works for me.
Again, Lady A.. I love your blog and appreciate all the work and effort that it takes to make it the beautiful work of art that it is..
    Love you sis..

  5. First off I want to say wonderful blog! I had a quick question which I’d like to
ask if you don’t mind. I wass interested to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts prior to writing.

I’ve had a tough time clearing mmy mind
in getting my idewas out. I do enjoy wrditing but it juist seems like
the first 10 to 15 minutes are usually wasted simply
just trying to figure out how to begin. Any ideas or tips?
    Many thanks!

    1. Interesting question, never been asked that before. I don’t clear my mind at all. If I did, I would never get anything done. My mind runs 24/7. Some of what I write does not come from me, I actually believe it is the Goddess inspiring me in certain situations. So if I close my mind, I could not hear Her speaking to me. It sounds like you might have writer’s block, sweetie. Try to do some meditating in a quiet place. You can start out doing it for a few minutes then work your way up to about 15 or 30 minutes. You will be surprised how refreshed and ready to go afterwards.

Thank you for the very interesting question. It is good to have you here. If I can offer you any assistance, please let me know.

      Lady A
