Daily Cosmic Calendar for May 9th

Trying to gain forward traction in the early going won’t necessarily be like a walk in the park. While a supportive, 60-degree alliance between the Moon and Ceres (2:27AM PDT) signifies a temporary rise in productivity and persistence, a rush to judgment or inflammatory behavior sends you to the back of the class as the Moon parallels Mars (2:51AM PDT) while also making a union with the red planet in Taurus (6:53AM PDT). Being feisty and impetuous won’t win you rave reviews.  On the other hand, versatility and flexibility are promoted as Venus enters mutable Gemini (8:04AM PDT) until June 2. The stakes for success keep climbing as the dark-of-the-moon vibes point you in the direction of finishing up old ventures on a high note while the monthly Moon-Mercury union (12:07PM PDT) and a subtle, nurturing, 30-degree rapport from the Sun to Jupiter (1:14PM PDT) encourage you to keep moving ahead as a clear communicator and resourceful educator.  Finally, the New Moon (activating 20 degrees of Taurus at 5:30PM PDT with a component Annular Solar Eclipse occurring 4 minutes earlier) is the catalyst that wants to propel you forward to the promised land of prosperity. However, this moment of time — while carrying a note of golden opportunity — also starts a void-of-course lunar uncertainty factor that will continue until 2:22PM PDT tomorrow. It is often best to simply go with the cosmic flow during a void lunar time-span — not forcing issues, but taking everything in stride and enjoying the celestial ride.  Meanwhile, the Moon unites with Pallas (6:16PM PDT) — a signal, even if moderate, that problem-solving skills and strategic thinking can still lead to important realizations of your next steps ahead in the near future.

Living As The Witch – Times Of Power We Don’t Usually Consider

7rf%20W%2013

Times Of Power We Don’t Usually Consider

Apart from the usual days of solar and lunar power, there are general times of the day that possess more power than others.

Twilight

Also known by their separate names Dusk and Dawn, twilight refers to the times of the rising and setting of the sun. Using the time of rising and the time of s setting as the central point, twilight would stretch for approximately thirty minutes before and after the rising and setting. In total, you have one hour for Dusk and one hour for Dawn.

Noon and Midnight

Two other very powerful times in the average day are Noon (also called High Noon) and Midnight. However, these do not refer to 12: 00 pm and 12: 00 am respectively; rather, they refer to mid-point between the rising and setting of the sun for Noon, and between the setting and rising of the sun for Midnight. For thirty minutes on either side of these points, just like for twilight, the power remains and so you have one hour each to make use of it.

Eclipses

A Solar Eclipse occurs when the sun, the moon and the earth align such that the moon is between the earth and the sun and casts a shadow upon the latter as seen from earth. A Solar Eclipse can only occur when the moon is new.

A Lunar Eclipse occurs with the same alignment but different positions. In this one, the earth is placed in between the sun and the moon, such that the shadow of the earth can be seen upon the moon. A Lunar Eclipse can only occur when the moon is full.

There are three kinds of eclipses, solar or lunar. They are: Partial, Annular or Total, in order from the weakest to the most powerful. Nonetheless, the time of an eclipse is a very potent one. Some cultures hold that a Total Solar Eclipse is a Time when all power in nullified.

Astrology Insights for December 2012

Astrology Insights for December 2012

Maria DeSimone

Maria DeSimone on the topics of blogs, astrology

I don’t know about you, but my world ended on October 29. The Mayans were only a couple of months off. OK, so I’m obviously being sarcastic (and no, the world really isn’t going to end). But seriously, for so many of us on the East Coast, Hurricane Sandy might as well have been named Hurricane Mayan.

All I have to say about November 2012 is good riddance. I am so happy November is behind us, I feel like celebrating New Year’s Eve a month early. If your world turned upside down in November — with the difficult Solar Eclipse sandwiched in between an especially biting Mercury Retrograde — then take heart: December will be better.

December brings unexpected fulfillment — or loss

On November 28, a Lunar Eclipse in Gemini makes close contact to Jupiter. I’d like to ignore all the fancier aspects this Eclipse made in the sky (inconjunct, yod, blah, blah, blah) and just keep it simple. But I can’t. There’s just too much of a story here. The Eclipse is conjunct Jupiter and sextile Uranus. Unexpected emotional fulfillment … or perhaps ending.

Now, let’s get complicated and start talking about the famous yod around this eclipse. A “yod” is a rare astrological aspect that forms between three or more points where two planets are sextile, and both are quincunx to a third planet. In this case, the Moon makes an inconjunct aspect to Mars-Pluto in Capricorn and Venus-Saturn in Scorpio, while Mars-Pluto and Venus-Saturn are sextile. With a yod pattern, you can say there’s a strong fated quality to whatever happens emotionally around this eclipse promise.

For many of us, this eclipse has a fated, karmic suggestion of adjustments and completion when it comes to love. Especially powerful, fatal attraction love affairs or those extra complicated relationships. If you have planets around 7 degrees of just about any sign, you are somehow inextricably tied to this eclipse. You will feel its emotional pull.  I say this because of the incredible relationship that all of the love planets (Venus, Mars) have to this lunation.

But for others, like me, it might have more to do with family and safety issues.

A light at the end of the tunnel

Whatever the case, we’ll spend the first half of December adjusting to the emotional implications of late November’s eclipse. Then, on December 11, I see a light at the end of the tunnel that began for so many on October 29. This is because on December 11 we’ll have the final Mercury square Neptune aspect that occurred for the first time on October 29, right before Mercury went retrograde. The confusing communication and lack of cooperation you might have experienced post-Sandy, such as dealing with paperwork issues, FEMA, insurance problems and anything else, will now be resolved.

Life gets better by December 13, when we pass Mercury’s shadow phase and enjoy a gorgeous New Moon in Sagittarius to boot. This New Moon is when I know the fresh start will be in full swing for all of us, whether you’ve been dealing with hurricane fallout or other personal drama.

For two weeks after this we’ll feel energized, happy and one with the universe again.

On December 28, an emotionally charged Full Moon in Cancer might bring some tension with family, but remember to keep it all in perspective. After all, it’s not like the world is going to end. You’ve got this.

Daily Cosmic Calendar for November 15th

If you think that Tuesday’s Total Solar Eclipse and Wednesday’s shift by Chiron are ancient history, think again. As indicated on prior dates in this calendar, major celestial alignments and events from the day before or two days before are still percolating in the psychic atmosphere — influencing mega-millions of human beings around the globe.  Fortunately, the lunar orb in Sagittarius carries a note of positive thinking, opportunity knocking, and essential optimism. This is certainly reinforced during the monthly Moon-Juno union (7:33AM PST). Energize primary partnerships in a respectful, balanced and harmonious manner. Be more fashion-conscious and check out the latest clothing designs and hair styles. Love vibrations increase in frequency when the Moon forms a supportive, 60-degree tie with Venus (2:30PM PST).  However, tensions start to rise shortly after this sky pattern occurs as Venus forms an off-kilter, 150-degree link with Pallas (3:54PM PST), Saturn makes a similar, 150-degree liaison with Uranus (4:28PM PST) while Mercury parallels Pluto (6:44PM PST). Ouch! These three challenging alignments — happening within three hours — can easily cast a pall over the rest of the day and send you to a corner of the school room with a dunce cap on your head.  Don’t go on an egocentric tear or push your agenda at all cost. The past (Saturn) and future (Uranus) are clashing, and problem-solving is more difficult than usual. Strive for greater objectivity, peace of mind and serenity to get through this 24-hour time-period relatively unscathed.

Daily Horoscopes for Tuesday, November 13

Sudden shifts in emotional loyalties are possible now as the intense Scorpio Solar Eclipse at 5:08 pm EST brings a new perspective to our passions. This powerful New Moon forms stressful aspects with transformational Uranus and Pluto, raising the ante for personal change. Meanwhile, logical Mercury squares irrational Neptune, pitting our words against our dreams. Events move quickly today, but a little bit of common sense takes us a long way.

Aries Horoscope

(Mar 21 – Apr 19)

Although today’s Scorpio New Moon Eclipse stimulates your 8th House of Intimacy, it’s still difficult to speak your desires aloud. However, what you don’t say may have more impact now than what is actually said. If your feelings seem isolated from your conversations, make a conscious choice to include them in your story. Take a chance by telling a loved one what you really need.

Taurus Horoscope

(Apr 20 – May 20)

You want to keep things simple now, but your most important relationships may be growing beyond your control. Your interactions have hidden layers of complexity as the magnetic Scorpio Solar Eclipse activates your 7th House of Partners. You might be willing to put up with temporary complications if you can see your way through a current entanglement. Just keep your future destination in mind because maintaining the status quo isn’t good for anyone involved.

Gemini Horoscope

(May 21 – Jun 20)

It’s not too late to make a simple improvement to your daily routine, even if it’s one you should have made much sooner. Today’s Scorpio Solar Eclipse falls in your 6th House of Habits, indicating sudden changes that can set a series of profound consequences into motion. The potential is greater than you realize, so make your actions count as much as possible.

Cancer Horoscope

(Jun 21 – Jul 22)

Don’t get discouraged today, even if it feels like everything has come to a standstill. Whether you know it or not, you are on the edge of a big breakthrough; however, you will have to take initiative to make it happen. The Scorpio Solar Eclipse polarizes your 5th House of Love and Creativity, suggesting that something exciting is about to open up on the romantic front. Even if you are eager with anticipation, remember that nothing happens overnight.

Leo Horoscope

(Jul 23 – Aug 22)

Your emotions may be at odds with your actions today, adding tension to your most personal relationships. Your tendency now is to withhold deep feelings while you smile and just do whatever is necessary to keep the peace. However, the Scorpio Solar Eclipse rattles your 4th House of Security, making this a tough time if you don’t acknowledge your current desires. Protecting your heart seems like a good idea, but you might regret it later on.

Virgo Horoscope

(Aug 23 – Sep 22)

You have been planning long enough; it’s now time to start talking about your ideas with others. The Scorpio New Moon Eclipse activates your 3rd House of Communication, so get your best thoughts out into the open because they don’t do any good running around inside your head. There may not be a better time to initiate passionate discussions about what you want to do next in your life, so seize the moment before it passes.

Libra Horoscope

(Sep 23 – Oct 22)

You can’t share everything that’s important to you without upsetting the stability of your life now that the Scorpio Solar Eclipse is shaking your 2nd House of Self-Esteem. Unfortunately, keeping crucial information to yourself creates a ripple effect, and the subtle disturbances can easily build into destructive waves. Once you better understand your own core values you’ll know exactly what you want to say.

Scorpio Horoscope

(Oct 23 – Nov 21)

This New Moon Eclipse in your sign symbolizes the initiation process you may now experience. With buoyant Jupiter in the picture, you could be feeling upbeat about the life-changing possibilities that are before you. But you cannot let go of the shadows on a whim, so analyze what you are holding on to and why you’re still resistant to change. After you understand the source of your motivation, the next steps become even easier to take.

Sagittarius Horoscope

(Nov 22 – Dec 21)

The Scorpio New Moon Eclipse in your 12th House of Spirituality may keep you somewhat detached from emotional involvements because you recognize that your boundaries aren’t strong now. You might be more vulnerable than usual and feel the need to protect yourself from others. Go ahead and retreat to do the deep soul searching that is required. Don’t judge yourself harshly if you aren’t ready to share your feelings with anyone else yet. Trust that you will know when the time is right.

Capricorn Horoscope

(Dec 22 – Jan 19)

Focus your attention back on the outer world now that the Scorpio New Moon Eclipse activates your 11th House of Social Networking. Don’t be too sentimental; just engage others as necessary, for you know what moves to make and you can predict the response you’ll receive. All the while, keep your eyes on the prize. More than anything else, single-minded concentration can get you what you want today.

Aquarius Horoscope

(Jan 20 – Feb 18)

The Scorpio Solar Eclipse lands in your 10th House of Career, motivating you to concentrate on your professional role now. Your natural ability to contain your emotions contributes to your air of mystery and increases your magnetic charm. You can even have someone eating out of your hand without much effort. Just tell others what you want to do and watch them line up to be on your team.

Working by the Sun

Working by the Sun

As the alter ego of the moon, the sun offers a significant source of energy for natural magick, and  solar energies often offer power for more instant magickal results.

Dawn is best for new opportunities, beginnings and people entering your life; noon for a burst of  instant power, energy, success and prosperity. Dusk is for reconciliation or letting go. Midnight assists healing magick, psychic protection and in accepting  what cannot be changed.

You can combine lunar and solar energies for a quick solar fix and the slower continuous lunar  consolidation of the initial solar results in your life. Noon spells on the day of the full moon will get things off the starting block and keep up the  impetus through the month. Often the moon and sun are in the sky at the same time (check your moon diary or weather section of the newspaper, or just look)  and combine the energies accordingly.
