Virgo Constellation Spell (Hare Moon)

Virgo Constellation Spell

(Hare Moon)
Virgo, the Virgin, is a zodiacal constellation as well as the second largest constellation. It rests highest in the night  sky in the northern hemisphere during late spring and early summer. The virgin is also know as Astraea, who was a daimone clothed in air who lived on the  earth during the Golden Age of Humankind. As a benevolent daimone, she guards, protects and watches over mortals. Her province is justice, which is why  Libra(the scales) rest next to Virgo in the night sky. Cast this spell to have one specific thing in your life work out justly.
For this spell you will need your favorite incense, your journal and pen, and your bathroom scales.
At 8:00 p.m., draw a magick circle and call in the elements. Light the incense, dedicating it to Virgo, the Virgin. Write  one thing that you would like to see work out justly and fairly. Keep it simple. Fold the paper four times. Now, step on your bathroom scale and step off,  then do it again. Each time you step on the scale, say exactly what you want to work out justly and fairly. Be specific. Repeat stepping on and off the scale  a total of eight times. Each time you do, repeat what you want. When you are done, thank the Virgin, bid farewell to the elements, and pull up the circle.  Put the folded paper on your altar until you attain the results you desire.

Daily OM for July 19 – Floating Amidst the Stars

Floating Amidst the Stars

Stargazing Meditation

by Madisyn Taylor

Stargazing meditation is an easy and readily available way to connect with self and Universe.

Since the beginning of time, humans have gazed at the stars in the night sky with awe, seeking in their luminosity everything from answers to inspiration to guidance. We have emerged from our contemplations with stories of gods and goddesses, maps of the universe, astrology, astronomy, math, and art. We have worshipped, wondered, and even projected ourselves out into space in an attempt to understand their magical essence. We know more now than we ever have about what those celestial lights are, how far away they reside, and what will happen to them over time, but facts and information are still no substitute for experiencing them yourself.

Gazing at the stars is no doubt one of the earliest forms of meditation practiced by human beings, and it is readily available to this day. If you live in a city, you may have a hard time seeing the stars, but a short drive can take you far enough beyond the city lights to reveal their glory. If you live in a rural setting, all you have to do is wait for the sun to set and the night to settle to get the show of your life, every night. If you make a habit of it, you will begin to know the seasonal changes of the night sky, deepening your connection to the earth and the universe in which you live.

One of the best ways to stargaze is to lie down on a blanket so that your body can fully relax. This position allows your breath to move easily through your tranquil form as you settle down into the earth, connecting your consciousness to the sky. As you look deeply into its vastness, allowing your awareness to alternate between the pinpoints of light and the blue-black space that holds them, your breath expands and contracts your body, just as the universe expands and contracts to its own eternal rhythm. You may feel as if you are floating amidst the stars or that they are raining down upon you. You may feel peacefulness, joy, and connectedness, or any of a full range of emotions. Simply continue to breathe, experiencing the wonder of this universe and your place within it.

Opening the Star (Storm Moon)

Opening the Star

(Storm Moon)

Use this spell to become one with the stars.

Take a hot bath, anoint yourself with your favorite scented oil, put on relaxing music, and lie on our bed with your arms and legs extended. Imagine yourself as a star glistening in the night sky. The light pours in and out of your legs, arms, and head in a clockwise motion. Sense the light moving in, then sense it moving outward. Your being becomes pure light as you shine with the light of the divine. Perfect love and perfect peace flow in and out of you, connecting you with the whole of Oneness.

Sense your being opening up like a flower whose petals are pure light. From the inside out, you glow with a brilliant white light that emanates from every part of your being. Feel yourself becoming the essence of fluorescence, filled with ardor of life.

As you drift off to sleep, take this sensation of being filled and emanating with an aura of perfect love and perfect peace within your inner being. Continue to sense the star inside of you opening like a flower and glowing with your inner beauty. Repeat the following affirmation three times:

“Tonight and every night
My star spirit is shining bright.”

Winter Night’s Blessing (Storm Moon)

Winter Night’s Blessing

(Storm Moon)

While preparing for bed, read this blessing aloud as part of your nightly prayers:

When the nights are dark and stormy,
And things become hard to see,
Dear God and Goddess
Help to keep the light within me glowing.
So that no matter which way the wind’s blowing,
I am on the Path I should be;
I am one of the blessed,
Who seek complete union with the Divine,
I am one of the shining ones,
Whose light continues to brighten the night.
In the name of the Lord and Lady, Blessed Be!

As you drift to sleep, imagine that you are the candle that the Goddess has lit. Imagine your light burning bright and shining like a star in the night sky. Every night, your light grows brighter and brighter and your life becomes filled with the joy of Divine Love.

Comet Garradd and the Coat Hanger
Image Credit & Copyright: Rogelio Bernal Andreo

Explanation: Sweeping through planet Earth’s night sky, last weekend Comet Garradd (C/2009 P1) visited this lovely star field along the Milky Way in the constellation Vulpecula. Suggestively oriented, the colorful skyscape features stars in the asterism known as the Coat Hanger with the comet’s tail pointing toward the southeast. Also known as Al Sufi’s Cluster, the Coat Hanger itself is likely just a chance alignment and not a cluster of related stars. But compact open star cluster NGC 6802 does grace the field of view just right of the Coat Hanger, near the edge of the frame. Below naked eye visibility but approaching 7th magnitude in brightness, Comet Garradd has been a good target for binoculars and small telescopes. Still, bright moonlit skies this week will make the comet harder to spot.
