Please Take A Moment to Remember Those in Moore, Oklahoma

Book & Candle Comments
Dear Mighty Goddess,

Please recognize us as your children

and hear our prayers. For without your

Comfort and Love we are lost, without

You, All Mighty Goddess, we are nothing.

Once again we come to you on bended knees,

heavy and broken hearted. Another tragedy has

yet befallen us. Lives have been lost, little

children again, how many we aren’t sure yet.

Please, Almighty Mother if there are any

buried under the rubble, give them the strength

to survive just a little bit longer. Let them be

found and have a joyous reunion with their

loved ones.

For the children that were lost in this awful

tragedy. Give them a safe and joyous transition

to Your Loving Arms. Please comfort them in

this difficult time. Let their little souls find peace

with You. This life for them was cut short, very

short. We humble pray that they will learn life

will begin again shortly. Let them know one day

they will be reunited with their loved ones once

again. O, What a joyous day that will be for all!

We grieve for all life that was lost during this

tragedy. Whether they be ninety-eight or eight,

all life is precious. Seeing it gone in a matter of

seconds, boggles our mind. Please bless their

loved ones left behind. Ease their mind and

comfort their heart. We humble ask that you take

them all into Your Loving Arms and guide them

through this difficult time.

We will not ask why, Almighty Mother, for only

you know that. But we will ask that You shine

Your Gracious and Loving Mercy down upon us

all at this time.

So Mote It Be.

Daily OM for May 12th – Family Ceremonies

Family Ceremonies

Creating Connections while Apart

by Madisyn Taylor

Create a ceremony around nature to connect with loved ones that are far away.

Life’s journeys may sometimes take us away from our families and friends, but there are many ways to stay connected. Aside from making use of the technology available—speaking on the phone or seeing each other from across cyberspace—we can create simple ceremonies using nature and our own thoughts to connect our hearts across the miles.

The first step in creating your ceremony is to look to nature for similarities in the different surroundings. The second step is agreeing upon something that is meaningful to all involved. If your mother loves birds, then perhaps each time you hear a bird chirp, you can think of her and mentally send love. You may choose the sight of a butterfly, the feel of a breeze or raindrops, or the scent of flowers to remind you of a special someone. The pink glow of sunset might be your favorite time to send a thought, or perhaps the warming oranges of sunrise. We can all see the sun, the moon, and an array of twinkling stars when we look to the skies. The monthly full moon may be your time to connect with your loved ones, or the first star you see each night, knowing that they, too, are gazing into the night sky and sending love. You could choose a day that you would usually celebrate together, such as a holiday or a solstice. If you once shared Sunday brunches in the garden, you can each seek out a garden on Sundays. Or you can choose a specific time and account for the time difference in order to connect by heart and mind at exactly the same moment.

With practice, we may learn to recognize the feeling that comes when a loved one sends energy our way, and the feeling of soul-to-soul communication. In this case, distance may indeed make our connections stronger. There is certainly much to make us think of our close friends and loved ones often, but when we decide upon a reminder together, we create a simple ceremony of connection that defies any distance.

The Trees I Have Started to Grow

The Trees I Have Started to Grow

Author:   Mentis Amor

To Bridgitte and Brieanne, my two beautiful girls,

I have thought about how to raise you as a pagan parent. I have so far tried to raise you as strong secure women so that when you are grown will you look back and see your mother as a blessing and you will you remember my teachings and grow from there.

I see you both as trees, just saplings now. If I cultivate your spiritual and mental needs, you will grow up strong and secure. You will be straight, always looking towards the sky. But if I do not succeed, you grow up without enough strength and you will bend to others opinions. You will reach up crooked, not knowing your path because you did not know which way to grow. This is my fear. So how do I teach you; how do I help you grow?

I thought a long time about what this means to raise two girls and to teach them and still be respectful of their individuality because they may not choose my path. But I would hope for them that they choose something that will fulfill them as I have found something that filled my spiritual needs.

So I researched and read all sorts of different articles, books and opinions, sifting through the many theories regarding pagan parenting. I came to this one night while talking with my grandmother about all of the different things that being a mother required. All the while, she sat there with a knowing look on her face and a silent regard to what I had to say.

Then she said, “ Try this. This is how I did it and how your mother did it and how my mother did it.” She had said something so simple I had not even thought of it before. I had to take a good look at myself and how I do things and how my mother did them and how her mother did it. I was looking at a long line of healers and teachers and parents who have grown trees of their own, each one hoping that their child would reach to the sky.

That does not mean I come from a long line of witches. My grandmother happens to be very dedicated to Christianity and one of the few people I know who lives kindly and loving every day of her life. My mother is very into the Native American traditions. She prays to the spirits and trusts the wisdom of the earth.

They taught me about healing naturally without drugs. Using tea to heal an infection and using baking soda to cure a bee sting… or that ginger will (9 times out of 10) cure an aching belly. It is what they taught me about the many different methods that were passed down generation to generation, each one teaching the next of the natural healing, love, respect for the earth, cycles of life, and to set their children’s feet on a spiritual path filled with compassion.

My mother taught me to respect the spirits. Sometimes they will speak to me, so I must listen carefully. Thus, I learned to trust my intuition.

My grandfather taught me that all life is sacred and should be respected. When I kill an animal for food, I must be thankful for it and not waste the blessing.

And my great grandmother taught me that herbs can cure, but they must be treated with care and grown with love. When it comes time to take what I have sown, I am to be thankful for the blessing.

So, I carry on with what I was taught and what I have learned, teaching my children about the wonders of nature. And through the natural healing that comes from my teachings, they are cured — like I was cured — without being medicating into an dulled state of mind.

And yes, I still get the scoff “You don’t take them to the doctor for every little sniffle and cough?” No, I do not. Chicken broth worked for me; it will work for them.

I teach them about the tarot and the wheel of the year and how every living thing on this planet is connected. Everything I have learned as a pagan. I tell them we must not hide from our shadow selves, but learn to be at peace with it. And most importantly, to be grateful of the blessings that we are given and to never take for granted our daily miracles.

To love themselves for who they are and also to love others for who they are because you never know someone until you have seen life through their eyes. To stand up for themselves and to be strong. Just because they are understanding does not mean that others will be understanding.

When my girls have grown and read articles, opinions, and books on their own, I hope that they will look back on the many different teachings of their family and find the wisdom here at home.

I pray to the creator that they will learn from the people that came before them and trust that the spirits of their grandfathers and grandmothers are guiding them.

Girls, your mother loves you and wishes you the best in this world. Fill it with your own light and love and you will be at peace. Do not care what others say. If they are mean, it is only because they don’t understand.

Grow tall and strong. Hold your head up and keep your back straight. Do not easily bend to another’s opinion. Learn as much as you can before making up your mind.

Remember, my little ones, I will always be here for you and I will tell you the same thing I was told:

This is how I did it and how your grandmother did it and how her mother did it.

Be happy and fruitful, my blessings!

Love.
Your Mama Bear

Today’s I Ching Hexagram for May 9th is 54: Careful Affection

54: Careful Affection

Thursday, May 9th, 2013

hexagram09

Affection is the basis of all lasting relationships, but must be channeled properly in order to bring satisfaction, and support the self-esteem of both parties. For example, a married person’s lover would necessarily have conflicted feelings: affection coupled with insecurity. Relationships based mainly on personal attraction, especially those that are outside the mainstream, require special caution and tactful reserve.

If you assert yourself too much, or try to make yourself indispensable, you will only incur misfortune. It is never easier to make disastrous mistakes than when you venture outside the bounds of propriety. If you are in doubt as to whether you should follow your heart or your head, allow for some time to pass, and perhaps the answer will become clear. Initiating any action could bring misfortune. Do not attempt to be too creative or attract favorable attention at this time.

Hey Lads & Lasses! How’s It Going On This Manic Thursday!

I beg ya’ show me some love today!!! I don’t believe this has been a manic Thursday more like the Thursday from HELL! We have a technician trying to set up a wireless printer. Every time I put my rump in this chair, he is hollering, “could you come here for a minute?” Still don’t have the printer hooked up. It wasn’t my idea but someone else’s. All of us could print from all over the building it we wanted to, HA!

Next, I been out to look for the old man Bobcat. He didn’t show up this morning for breakfast and that isn’t like him. He generally stays right on the porch under the bench guarding that little mauled kitten. Well the kitten was there but no Pappy. Kiki loves him to pieces. She goes outside every morning with me to feed them. He wasn’t there and she look every where for him. She is still looking at me so sad. I am beginning to wonder if she knows something I don’t. But he doesn’t go missing two meals a day. So if he doesn’t show up this evening. I will worried.

Then the phone has rang all morning. Take my advice, never apply to more than one bank or finance company at a time. They will drive you crazy. Of course, I am already crazy. There are something’s you learn the hard way, and that’s one of them.

Well I know you are tired of hearing about my day. I know I am tired of telling it and that’s only half of it, lol! Time to get to work.

Have a Super, Fantastic Thursday!

The WOTC Wishes You A Very Blessed Tuesday Morning!

A Friend I Can Count On

When troubles come a callin’
As those gremlins often do,
And my spirit keeps on fallin’
Till I feel low down and blue…

When I look around for comfort,
Someone quickly jumps to mind, One who always will support me, And whose words are always kind.

Who will make my mood feel lighter,
Who’ll help beat my troubles back, You makes the sun shine brighter
And gets my spirit back on track.

Who helps the road seem straighter,
And helps me get around each bend,
Who makes each day seem greater,
And that someone is you, my friend.
